Agreed, this is the number one complaint with the overall matchmaking experience in H4. Its not the first time, they have always had this problem with DLC integration to some extent but it is most painful in Halo 4
-
I would like too see it come back in the next halo game. The chances of it coming in this one are less than zero. BTW it's grossly unfair to call it laziness. The feature was replaced by spartan ops. Like it or not.

Sick of split screen lag in match making / BTB lag on Complex
ReturnOfTheButcher replied to rwtf Leah's topic in Halo 4
There's no "fix" for slower performance in split screen forge maps. It is going to stay that way because you can't get more power out of an 8 yeqar old console. Its amazing it does as well as it does at the moment really...- 9 replies

Yes. Halo as a franchise no longer attracts the player population necessary to support such fragmentation. This means that new DLC packs become only a desperate last ditch cash milking exercise, to hit up the few who will still pay out, rather than an expansion to a thriving game. There is a complete disconnect between the creative processes that produce nice new maps to enrich the game experience, and the business model that delivers and restricts them. The latter takes a giant dump on the former and you get to the point where you're damned if you do pay out and damned if you don't.

I thought they changed the slayer pro settings. Originally it had the radar which only showed friendlies (which I found confusing as hell), I thought they had now removed it completely.
-
^ meh, people have been saying that about every new halo since the second one! Personally I think complex is pretty big. In fact you could easily have hogs on it.
-
I agree something really needs to be done to ensure those who purchase additional maps get to play them more. I am the only one of my friends who is still buying the additional maps, everyone else just got sick of paying out for stuff that they will hardly ever see in MM. To this day I think I still haven't had a single game on a castle map. If you miss the initial rush you might as well not bother.

You must be kidding. Like bungie never released a glitchy map or game and didn't fix it...

Or, let's continue to post in topics that interest us as and when we choose. Yeah, we'll go with that instead.

Every halo game has had buckets of sticky reticle and/or bullet magnetism. Halo 2 was the worst but like most fps on console they all have this in abundance.
-
Everyone who says 'it's really not that hard' has no idea what they're talking about.

I thought it was pretty impressive considering it was a promotional short for a video game. I mean ok it was a bit like starship troopers without the irony a lot of the time, but they did great considering the budget probably wasnt all that. I thought the young actors were all good. Hopefully it demonstrates that halo could be a good movie or tv series

So what did you guys think of spartan ops season 1?
ReturnOfTheButcher replied to NitroBlivion's topic in Halo 4
Really good considering it was included with the game. The missions started getting really good towards the end, not so much at the beginning. The cutscenes were awesome, some good characters too. I had fun playing it, I would say there is an URGENT need to vary the objectives though. Far too much powering stuff on and activating doors! I rarely felt much connection between playing the missions and the story though. Also Sarah Palmer is just a boring predictable ball-breaker stereotype, every line of hers irked me. They were right to focus on Thorne as he is likeable. -
Halo 4 - If you are having problems with "lag", Read This!
ReturnOfTheButcher replied to Unseenz's topic in Halo 4
I don't really suffer from actual network lag in halo 4. I would say overall network performance is better than H2 and H3. Reach was actually very good in this area. I get framerate drops on forge maps but that's to be expected. -
Well if you genuinely only quit a couple then something is wrong. I think you at least deserve credit for a reasonable forum post! I probably am a similar sort of player to you, in age and halo experience. Getting banned for an hour would annoy me when I only have an hour to play. But I have quit more than that (not that I do it lightly) and not got banned.

So I played halo 4 last night, then played black ops 2. They are still a very different experience. And a small handful of features halo has "adopted" like sprint and loadout selection makes almost zero difference to that. The level of customisation in COD is insane, and it forms a big part of the game. In halo the tactical and support upgrades don't make nearly as much difference. Sure it is a few steps down the same road but that does not wipe out glaring differences in gameplay and feel.

As far as I am concerned the proportion of "good" maps is well in line with Reach and Halo 3. It's like eveyone in this thread suddenly got amnesia and forgot all the maps that weren't that great in the past. Every single halo game since the second one, people have complained about the maps on the official forums in each new release and adopted this exact same outraged tone I see here. In fact the DLC maps in this Halo are overall of a better standard than some of the DLC packs in previous games.

Why not just give the BR and Carbine a range boost?
ReturnOfTheButcher replied to Chris Hansen's topic in Halo 4
Lol Love that guys reply "so the dmr is better? Use the dmr then " He has a point. -
BR 4 shot kills again like halo 2? Hmm. So long as it doesn't aim itself like it did in halo 2 as well!
-
So I replayed halo CE and Halo 2's campaign yesterday.
ReturnOfTheButcher replied to Chris Hansen's topic in Halo 4
I agree I didn't really feel the effect of the music changing as you do different things in this game much, compared to say Halo 1 or Halo 3. While it would be nice to see some old favourites return in the future, I like the new direction and I think it suits Halo really well. A few more epic punches in the big moments wouldn't go amiss - they do have them, like the final third of "117", just wow - but the music the rest of the time brings the whole arc of the game together well I reckon. -
SEVERE ISSUE: Split-screen framerate problems
ReturnOfTheButcher replied to tinman717's topic in Halo 4
By all means do let them know what you think... but, unfortunately I don't really think there's much that can be done to fix this framerate drop you describe. They have pushed the game engine and the xbox hardware to the limit pretty much - and while the maps out of the box will usually not see a problem, when a level has a lot of forge objects it is harder to render everything quickly. Of course add another player and you can get problems. I've not really played a lot of forge maps with another player in this Halo game, but I remember this from 3 and Reach. They've already made a call on how much framerate drop they will accept and therefore how much they can ask of the hardware in terms of detail and whatnot. Maybe it's not impossible to change something, but something else might suffer as a result. I don't know if the version of the xbox you have makes much difference. I would be interested to compare HDMI and component however, or whether switching between 1080 and 720 makes a difference. What output and resolution setting are you on? -
I would be good with that. To be honest any all-DLC playlist would get my vote, so long as it had all the map packs in it. I totally agree, my main problem with buying the maps is that you don't get to play them enough - especially the older ones. They have a short shelf life. I have bought them personally but my friends aren't bothering.

Why are so many people reminiscing about ranks in Halo 3... I remember when it started and bungie's forums were on fire with people yelling about how crappy and meaningless the ranks were in halo 3, compared to the previous halo game
-
I love it when someone posts in a topic like this 'it wouldn't be hard to do'. As if they could know! If you think for a second you would surely realise this would involve re-doing the very core of the game. Come on people! And it's not 'classic' halo multiplayer - it wasn't in CE, for one. DW pistols or Smgs will always be cool i admit but it utterly changed the whole weapon system.
-
I've always been a fan of FFA and i have to say i do enjoy regicide. There is one massive benefit and that is you can't just farm the easy players to rack up points. It's not rumble slayer and nobody said it was going to be - in a way i see it like an Objective game without an annoying objective.
