  2. Considering the constant evolution of Halo's gameplay I say absolutely not. I don't even want to see a DLC with remakes or updates. If you want to play on your favorite old maps then go play them on the game they were designed for. Halo 5 should, in my opinion, not have a single remake or update to any old maps. Each map should be brand new and designed to work with the new and improved gameplay mechanics, including armor abilities, custom loadouts, ordnance drops, static weapons and so on. Even the old game modes need reworking to fit into Halo 5. CTF needs to take into account new vehicle mechanics, armor abilities and faster spawns. King of the Hill needs to do the same. Even the basic slayer needs to make some adjustments to fit in with the new mechanics. No longer are we left with bare bones gameplay like Halo: CE (which was awesome on its own) and the mechanics of each game type should reflect that. To me I feel they haven't done that in Halo 4 or even Reach. Heck I don't think they have done that since Halo 2 and even then it is stretching it for me. There is so much potential in Halo 4 that went unrealized because the game types weren't tweeked, or tweeked enough, to mold around the new mechanics available to the players. Take it however you want but this is what I think.
  3. Just a few things here for you... 1: Halo 4 does have CSR ranks and a sorting system to line people up in a manor similar to Halo 3 and or Reach. You dont notice this because the ranks themselves are only visible on waypoint or another similar site. 2: Every game is a mixed bag, it cant be avoided. Some will be better than you, others worse. There isnt any system that can sort the human factor for gaming. It is a completely random element which changes by the second. More over, playing with a rank restriction narrows down the amount of players for any given match. If you are only playing people of your rank then you have a very small pool of people to draw from. Each game is against the same people, which in turn leads to very dull and boring games. I dont think you want to travel down that road. 3: The maps are plentyful and enjoyable. Scratch the enjoyable part because that is just my opinion. Speaking of opinions here is another one... I frequently find people who whine about the maps not being good are desiring remakes of the same maps from Halo 2/3. Yet if they do that, then the gameplay doesnt evolve. You might as well not make any new games seeing as how you are playing the same thing over and over again, just with different graphics. All the Halo 4 maps can be played very competitively, people choose not to, in my eyes, because they are so hung up on the idea of what Halo was in Halo 3 that they cant grow beyond it. 4: To me MLG is the worst thing to happen to gaming, ever. The idea behind it was fantastic. I would love to see a place for hardcore competition style playing. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is that MLG itself as well as its players and fans turned it into the be all, end all of gameplay. If you dont play with those specific settings, with those maps, then your not playing compettiively. That is the mindset MLG endorsed and its players and fans promoted. I really hope I am not the only one who has a problem with that. Due to this "idea" so many of the Halo "fans" refuse to play simply because it is not exactly like it was in Halo 3. That is why people arent playing, at least in my opinion. Too many so called "fans" are stuck in the past and are unwilling to grow with Halo. Instead they whine and complain (I am not saying you are, just being general here) that its not "Halo" anymore because it is not the same thing they played in Halo 3, which was far from a perfect game. Further still they moan about it being like CoD while their suggestions would make it more like CoD than ever before. CoD's gameplay doesnt change from game to game, not even remotely. You get slightly different guns and slightly different maps and thats it. The gameplay itself is reused over and over and over again, which is exactly what so many people are asking for out of Halo. Complete lunacy if you ask me. 5: Halo was never about competitive multiplayer. It was first and foremost a space opera. The story of Halo is what Halo is all about. Multiplayer is a distant second when it comes to the story. With out it then the game itself would be better off being called Pong or Block Ball as it has no real purpose beyond wasting time. It wouldnt have any sort of driving force that makes players so enthralled by it. Even multiplayer only games like Titanfall or Battlefield 2142 have a story behind them. A driving force that creates the multiplayer environment, that imerses the player into the action and gives it purpose. I have laid this out fairly simplistically I think. But just in case I can give a bass tacks version. Halo 4 is new style of competition. Grow as players and figure out how to be competitive with a new set of rules.
  4. Dude everybody is copying me. I though of not being ported into a game first....
  5. I wouldn't have to escape it, it would have to escape me.
  6. It amuses me on how many people are crying out that Halo 2 was the hardest. The only difficult part was that sniper lane they set up. Beyond that it was a cake walk to me. Even that lane was simple once you go through it once. Halo CE was far worse for simple reason: Rocket Flood. Didn't matter what difficulty, they caused problems all the time and there wasn't much you could do about it. Halo 4's campaign while not the most difficult had plenty of frustrating moments and the mechanics of the Prometheans amped up the difficulty factor. Finding that one bloody crawler using a binary before you die is a pain in the arse.
  7. 1: I could live with that but I don't really see much of a need for it. Competitive is an over used and misunderstood term if I am too be honest. Every match you play is inherently competitive. If you choose not to bring much to the table then that's your individual fault, not the games. What most people I see complaining about such a thing want is "fair competition" but no competition is ever fair. Through out history no competition has ever been fair. Even starting with the same weapons and what not it will never be fair. My advice is chin up and broaden your focus from a few details to more unknowns. You never know whats around the corner so learn to prep for it. 2: Considering many just pooped on 343 for their maps (which weren't bad over all, some sucked but that's normal) I can see why they went with more forge maps. 3: I really don't care for this feature but it doesn't make a difference to me one way or the other. I don't snipe.
  8. You say you were voice banned for no reason at all? I highly doubt it. Bans are generally not handed out willy nilly over XBL. Judging by how you have posted on here I can see you getting a voice ban for language. Am I saying that is what it was for, no. I honestly don't know what it was for but there always is a reason. Take it as a hint though. If you are getting banned then obviously something you are doing or saying is inappropriate, offensive, breaks the terms of service or any combo of those three. You should reexamine your actions from when you were banned and you probably will figure out the reason why you were banned. To me, and only me, you sound like somebody who rages over a microphone while playing a game when things don't go your way. Some one who tosses out insults and curses profusely when they are loosing or when they feel they were killed cheaply. Yes these are my impressions of you based off of your posts. It is not intended to be an insult but rather criticism. Oh and as said before, this is just a fan site. We cant fix this problem.
  9. Did you remember to bring cream cheese with you this time?
  10. PC is the realm of hacks. I have no doubt that if any hacking is going on it will come from there first (granted I think PC is a superior platform).
  11. The only reason why I would want to see another Halo Wars game is to watch it create sparks in a microwave.
  12. Since I am having issues quoting people I will have to make due with other methods... @Yoshi Spartan-IV's are not unaugmented Marines. In order to operate MJOLNIR armor they require physical augmentation. The major differences are the age when augmentations are applied and their success rate. In the Spartan-IV case they are applied much later in life and have a high success rate with a much broader range of candidates. Far superior to the augmentations used in the Spartan-II and III programs. @Coldfreeze Do you have any idea what you are talking about? First of all the Spartan-III program wasn't at Reach except in that craptastic story from the game Halo: Reach. Of which Bungie screwed the pooch. No Spartan-IIs (Beyond Kurt) worked with the Spartan-IIIs much less knew they existed. Out of Alpha company (300 Spartan-IIIs) all are KIA. Beta Company (300 Spartan-IIIs) are all KIA except 2. Gamma Company (330 Spartan-IIIs) are all KIA with the exception of 7. That accounts for every single Spartan-III ever created. None died on Reach. None even made it to Reach in the first place. The Halo: Reach game can kiss my booty because as far as I am concerned none of it is canon (including the crap they tried to do to the PoA). No stupidity of Spartan-IIIs having MJOLNIR armor either. Spartan-III armor was known as SPI armor. It is a much lighter version of MJOLNIR armor. Far less defensive capabilities but has similar physical augmentations as MJOLNIR armor. Take note that SPI armor does not have shields. The one thing it is superior with is its built in active camo. However even that fails after the armor take enough damage. The Spartan-III program itself was built around the idea of taking the fight to the Covenant. To do extremely high risk combat actions behind enemy lines (one might call them suicide missions). This doesn't mean they are expendable however. The process was streamlined from the Spartan-II program, allowing a broader range of candidates for augmentation (still limited by age however) and training. The augmentations themselves were improved to allow this broader selection (but not stronger augmentation). The armor they wear, while superior to Marine and ODST armor, is far less expensive then the MJOLNIR armor system. It was the start of mass production of Spartans, though not nearly efficient enough. Please don't think that the Spartan-IIIs were cheap. They were bloody expensive, however they were cheaper than the Spartan-II program. @Everyone and anyone The Spartan-IIs were nearly wiped out on Reach. Including the so called Spartans who were stuck on the SoF (another FU to previously established lore). If I recall correctly only 7 Spartan-IIs survived the battle of Reach (Grace, Kelly, Will, Fred, Linda [all be it in stasis], Anton and Li). Of those 7 only half survived till the end of Onyx (Fred, Kelly and Linda). As I said earlier, there was none of this Spartan-III BS on Reach. Not to mention the entire space battle was giving a giant middle finger in Halo: Reach. Anywho, there are 4 surviving Spartan-IIs (unless you believe the BS about John killing Linda in which case there are 3, see elaboration below) as well as 9 Spartan-IIIs. Though I don't really know what happened to the squad that was put into slipspace capsules. No idea if they were revived or not so I cut that number down to 4 Spartan-IIIs capable of operation. If you want to get down to it the greatest difference between the Spartan-IIs, IIIs and the Spartan-IVs is their training. The Spartan-IIs and IIIs were training from childhood. They didn't develop attachments like other children would. Instead they were basically brainwashed into a particular mindset. This made them socially awkward if not out right outcasts. If it isn't combat oriented or training oriented they lack the social skills to deal with it. At least they have lacked the social skills to deal with it. That kind of skill is learned, they are just getting a very late start on it. Being as combat oriented as the are, they process things differently than Marines that have become Spartan-IVs. It is all they have known (or at least can remember) while the Marines have experienced life outside of the military and view things far differently. Does this make the Spartan-IVs less able? It is possible from particular points of view but it can also make them more capable than previous generations of Spartans from other points of view. This isn't to say that the Spartan-IVs haven't picked up on the exclusiveness of the Spartan program. Far from it. Sorry if you feel insulted but in all honesty the lack of background knowledge on this topic was destroying any chance of people understanding the question. Speaking of the question, are you referring to a particular group of Spartans to identify with or an individual Spartan to identify with? Your answer OP includes nearly 1000 Spartans, which is why I ask. More over, while it is your personal opinion and totally correct to you, you wouldn't have qualified for the Spartan-III program. Their age limit was low to mid teens. Just thought I would point that out. As for me I would probably identify most with Fred-104. But that is just me. Elaboration: There were 33 Spartan-IIs who survived the augmentation process without debilitating side effects. Of those 33 Spartans 2 died and 2 are MIA (Sam and Sheila are dead, Randall and Kurt MIA). That leaves 29 Spartan-IIs alive and accounted for. According to the book The Fall of Reach, all 29 of those Spartan-IIs were present for the battle. Grey Team and Maria included (I am going by publish date here). Of those 29 Spartans, 3 were detached to an orbital station (John, Linda and James). Only 2 survived that action (Linda was revived at a later date). The rest were sent down to Reach to hold off the Covenant advance. Fred and Kelly managed to meet up with Dr. Halsey, Vinh, Isacc and Will. Both Vinh and Isacc die while letting the other 4 escape. Anton, Grace and Li are with Admiral Whitcomb and meet up with John when he arrives after the events of Halo CE. Eventually both groups meet and get off planet. The rest of the Spartans were killed while defending power generators for the orbital MAC cannons when a Covenant ship glassed the area. The survivors ended up stopping a giant Covenant fleet on their way back to Earth but loosing Li and Anton to a plasma strike in space combat and Grace to a pair of Brutes on a Covenant station. This leaves John, Kelly, Fred, Will and Linda alive. Will dies in Onyx while going hand to hand with a pair of hunters. Thus we are left with just John, Kelly, Linda and Fred.
  13. Considering I think MLG turned out to be one of the worst things to happen to gaming I hope you can understand that I don't hold any MLG reasoning in any sort of esteem. I respect your opinion, don't think that I don't. I just am of the personal believe that the mindset that MLG and groups like it are so ridged and inflexible that they keep people from growing as gamers. Games shouldn't be stunted in development and innovation because a particular group or multiple groups find a single setting to be the only acceptable way to play the game. Time and again people complain that Halo 4 is like CoD due to the changes that were made. Yet they seem to not understand that with out changes, with out experiments Halo becomes CoD anyways. The gameplay for CoD (while excellent in its development and execution, or so I am told) hasn't changed at all. Beyond the story (and even that is debatable) you have the same experience over and over again through out the series. Getting the idea yet? Make a change in the formula, Halo = CoD, make no change, Halo = CoD. As I stated before, I believe ordnances to be a good thing. They just needed more development. However, again as I said, one can say that about any game as no aspect of it is perfect. Oh and don't get me started on "basketball". It was better when it was played with a giant rock and the loosing team was sacrificed.
  14. Ok I will say I am a bit miffed. Who exactly is to say what is and isn't Halo? What is and isn't Halo is a personal opinion and has no bearing on any community level. If you don't like it then fine, but that does not mean it is not Halo. If that opinion determined what Halo then how many versions of Halo have been released? How many would have to be created? One for every consumer out there, that's how many. The notion is idiocy. The fact of the matter is that it is in the game. No ifs, ands or buts about it. A person saying "it doesn't feel like Halo" or "it isn't Halo" is immaterial. The individual wants and preferences are mute. As it is a part of Halo 4 it is a part of Halo. There is no escaping this. If you don't like it, that is fine. However liking or disliking it is another story entirely. Sorry but I had to say that. It really does tick me off when people say things like that. That being said, Ordnance could have been done better. I enjoy the random weapon however there should only be one random weapon, then grenade selection and a power up selection. And yes they need (in my eyes) to make adjustments as to how fast an individual can get a drop. Though as far as I can tell there is a difference on how fast the meter fills up between kills and assists. There is a problem however, if a player is dominating a game with kills then they are constantly getting power weapons which leaves the other players little to no chance at survival. It is an extremely tricky thing to balance. What they have now is a good start but I fear of too many so called "improvements" that may actually make things worse. Don't get me wrong, I like the addition to the game. It makes it so you have to do more planning than before. Account for more than what you can see on the map. I enjoy that aspect. I find however that the majority of "fixes" and complaints about it are directed more towards giving that individual all the advantage, but that is human nature I suppose. Is it a good addition? I think so. Does it need work? Absolutely. This can be said about any games features however.
  15. I am a huge fan of Bioshock but I refuse to use Facebook.
  16. The Flood can stay gone. I am tired of dealing with them.
  17. I would rather not see another "anniversary" edition come out. Too many people will whine and complain about it not being just like the original. That and there is better things to spend their time on.
  18. I am just glad it wasnt me. Enjoy your month as MoM Spyro. You earned it.
  19. I love how almost nobody knows how to put in the little ♥ in my name. That being said, blast it all I am mentioned in a weekly wrap up. Good job on it though, at least you made me look classy.
  20. Considering "hype" comes from the public and their "reviewers" I have no doubt it wont live up to it. Nothing ever does because we always expect more than we get. Hype sucks.
