I am leaving the rest of this thread alone because my views are already fairly well known on the forums but the highlighted section in your post is something I have serious issue with. How dare you believe you can presume to know what I or anybody else has or has not played. How dare you presume to know what we enjoy and what we dont. Our enjoyment does not hinge upon what you find to be a good game or not. We all have different reasons for liking or disliking a game. It is not a matter of being "appeased" it is a matter of personal enjoyment. Now then since you dont seem to be contributing anything further towards constructive criticism of this game nor have enjoyed it I suggest that you just stop playing all together and not bother posting threads like this. It only adds issues. More importantly its insults like this that occure due to threads like these which are not needed period. And yes that goes for everybody who disagrees with the OP as well. No need to insult that person because they dont enjoy the game or have posted as such. Also, no I am not insulting you, but I am upset with what you posted.

We all know Fluttershy is the life of any party. But I suppose he would have to invite Wort Wort and Blarg as well.

Meh, kind of looks like crap to me. -
You can always break a promise, you just have to deal with the consequences of said broken promise.

I do not forge, just want to make that clear. What I would like to know is what kind of "objectives" or "challenges" a forger could come up with. I was thinking about a map that had mulitple levels. Each one going up higher and higher requiring a teleporter to advance to the next level. In order to access that teleporter the player would have to finish some sort of challenge or objective on that level within a certain time frame. If they fail they fall to the ground falls out and they die. Each level has increasingly difficult challenges until you reach the top. I was thinking about this but have no idea what kind of challenges or objectives one could put in there in the first place, nor the mechanics of making the floor disappear on specific levels at specific times according to when the player arrives on that particular level. Anybody have any ideas? I wont be designing a map or anything. Just thought I would ask and see what you could come up with to make this work.

Hmmm well ultimately it is up to the companies to put out an outstanding product. Those two companies together could make some extremely good things occur. I keep my eye on them however I am not looking for anything in particular. I am sure that they will design what they feel is awesome and we shall see the result. Thats all I really can do at this point. The bonus info though is interesting. I dont like seeing a bonus hinging on a critic site.

Halo 3 Monthly Playdate Video - 1/19/13

Oh god GSD has the sniper! Run! -
Read the book Fall of Reach. Spartan 117 (AKA John AKA Master Chief) tests out the first set of Mark IV armor which contains a shield unit in 2552. No other MJOLNIR armor system had shields until that time and even then they were in the test phase at that point. Only until the Pillar of Autumn launched on its top secret mission did the other Spartans gain the shields to their armor as everybody was recalled and upgraded. 1: It doesnt apply to just wounded units. If I want one individual unit to so do something rather than an whole group I have to fight with the selection system in order to make it happen. That takes time, which you shouldnt waste in RTS games. 2: Why would I pay credits to heal an individual unit like that? Waste of money and resources. Better to get units out of the line of fire so healty units can get in the fray and do some damage. Then spend the time healing after the fight. A Cobra is no where near a guard tower or other defensive structure from any other RTS out there. Its rate of fire is quite lacking, its tracking is slow (meaning if it is flanked its doomed) and it has poor health. I would have do dedicate a Cyclops to each on in order to keep it running. Thats multiple unit slots I am dedicating for a stationary defense that can crumble in seconds. Unit slots that are better put into units that go out and attack things. Again a waste of resources. With a free build system you are still limited to terrain types that are approprate for structures. Some cant be placed too close together. Others have to be places certain distances from resources. All of this can limit your choices some what however you are able to find open ground somewhere on the map in order to build them. That depends on the player being able to find said locations, which is of course why they have an army to go explore and kick some booty. The fixed structure areas mean your bases will be in predictable spots all the time. Your opponent doesnt have to go looking for you what so ever. They already know where you are. They already know the limits of your base. Thus there is no element of suprise when they come across it. Your defenses are easily predicted as well. If your the UNSC your stuck with just 4 turrets. If your the Covenant you can put up shields (at the cost of another structure) and 4 turrets. Thats it. That is all you get for your defenses unless you decide to leave units around (which is a waste of their time). In other words it is boring. No customization, no suprises for enemies, no nothing. Apparently you didnt realize that Starcraft and Starcraft Brood Wars was the national game of South Korea. Starcraft II which came out in recent years is being adopted but slowly as that game and units are being spread over 3 seperate installments. Professional teams would make huge money in those leagues. As for it giving RTS games everywhere a "run for their money" I dont think so. The only one I would even think of comparing it to is C&C 4 which was not a great game in itself. Many really really didnt like it. However its mechanics were solid after a bit of playing, just the requirements for MP were stupid and respawing in an RTS is just.... weird. That being said Halo Wars doesnt even stack up against the "arguably" worst RTS in the C&C franchise. Its controls are sluggish and unresponsive and its tactical choices are severely lacking. When you do make a tactical choice in Halo Wars you end up loosing more than you gain in most cases. Not cool. This really is the last I will post on this. I dont need to go any further into my opinion really. Otherwise it will just tick people off. Ok then...

Well now, this has blown up into something far more than I expected when asking for clarification... Didnt intend to cause an arguement. In any case, I believe Halo 4 is full of skill and there is plenty of a skill gap. People who play skillfully in any manor will find a way to be successful. Learning better cover, learning not to take on people all at once... stuff like that. Its a different skill people need to learn and I think that is the major hang up for most players. Something that has never bothered me personally as I am adaptable to any skill set fairly quickly even if I am not a great player.

I am talking about targeting individual units, not a group of like units within a previously selected group of various units. If I want a particular hog that is damaged to move to a more protected area I have to fight with the selection system in order for that to happen. By the time that is successful I have already lost the unit. It is clumsy and slow to me. Sure I can select all units on the screen. I can do that on my PC to. However I dont have to fight a selection system in order to get an individual unit to do what I want it to do. There is no individual control. 1: Spartans didnt have shield technology until 2552. 2: The Spartans that were on the SoF at the end were reported to be at Reach when it fell... which now is impossible as the SoF has no FTL ability which means the SoF would be no where near Reach by the time it fell. It probably wouldnt have even been close to human space at that point. So where is the map control with structures? That is the point I am making. You cant control the map by stratigicly placing your structures. Everything is preset. Also as there are a set number of slots for somebody to make structures on their base pad you can basicly predict what they are going to have at their bases. More over your limited in base defensive structures. It is far far too limited for an RTS. You cant tactically force people into choke points, nor hide your structures from view while producing your hordes of minions. Your supply is so limited as well. Unless you have outside influences you are limited on what you can put on your base in the first place in order to make it function. If you choose to have all your unit production buildings out then you can have at most 2 supply pads working for you. That is ignoring the abilities upgrade structure for the UNSC. Not a productive base. Also for the Covenant you give up your shields in order to have more supply. Not a wise move as you can easily be wiped out due to the lack of defenses. Sure its tactical in deciding what you have on your base however because its all contained a few powers and or units can destroy everything in seconds in the first place. Whats the point if everything can be wiped out that quickly because its all in one spot? Only because of the people on here. If it were with random people I wouldnt touch it. Ummm no. Or did you forget that Starcraft is a countries national game? They have/had 2 dedicated TV channels to it. C&C is far more indepth on the PC than Halo Wars ever could be with its current controls. Its missions are infinately more complex with multiple objectives. Warcraft as well. This as an RTS is not a good one, to me of course. On the 360 its the best RTS out there, no question. But its competition is, to be frank, pathetic in terms of quality.

So let me get this straight... the game is less skillful because your not getting two kills instead of just one? I am seriously confused. If its harder to get two kills in a row than in previous games would that require a greater amount of skill for the player to accomplish than previous games? I seriously am having trouble following this logic....

I am honestly not sure who to thank. I joined on a whim and so far it has been a fairly good ride on here, so I suppose I just should thank everybody on here for making it a good experience. I am not a big forum person so its a new"ish" experience for me. You all have stepped up and make it a very welcoming place for me.- 14 replies

I game because it is wonderful to see into the minds of development teams and see their dreams become a reality. The fictional universes are new areas to explore just like books. Always complex and full of wonders I couldnt possibly imagine (which is why somebody else imagined them). They are books to me. Its just a different form of story telling thats all. I was raised on books. If I wanted to play a game I would go outside and play tag or play in the dirt. Those were my games. The rest was all books, so for me its just another story to read. Which is also a reason why I never did online play until recently. And for the most part I dont enjoy it online. Too much bickering and trash talking for my tastes though it is better now that I have found people to game with (people from these forums in fact). As long as I got this good group around I will continue to play online, but once gone I doubt I will be online anymore.

How Did The Forerunners Lose To The Flood And Thr Humans Beat Them!?
Vaulting♥Frog replied to Baeztoberfest's topic in Halo 4
In CE 343 states that the Flood dont particularly care about what they absorb as long as it has sufficent biomass to sustain them. Which makes me feel like they then turned the rest of the games into total crap. Its not "sentient life" that is in danger but all life. It absorbs any and all life with sufficent biomass to sustain itself. But no they changed this.... -

Forge Map Test Playlist Discussion/Feedback
Vaulting♥Frog replied to SatanicBagels's topic in Halo 4
What a scoop. That will be an intense playlist. -
I was not a fan. For me RTS games just do not function up to the level they should on a console. Instead they are far far better on a PC. Halo Wars story was very lack luster for me. It was very jumpy, not fluidly transfering from one mission to the next. The characters were annoying at best and the addition of the Spartans was just wrong to me. It flew in the face of everything that had been laid down previously. It really bothers me when they have perfectly good lore and completely ignore it to make a new game. Gameplay wise it wasnt great for me. The controls were very clumsy. It took way to long to select particular units out of a group and you couldnt assign perminate groups. The base system really wasnt stratagy based to me. You load up on reactors and supply pads and have a vehical bay. Thats all you really needed to beat the campaign. You werent able to put structures in spots where they would do more good for you, such as building defences around a choke point on the map or keeping your barracks away from your base so enemies have to hunt for it while you can produce units with out worry. That kind of stuff makes an RTS for me and Halo Wars had none of it. The cut scenes were "pretty" but thats about it. You can make something look pretty but that doesnt mean its good. The underlying story they were supposed to tell wasnt compelling to me at all. I litterally suffered through the campaign trying to finish it. At first I could only do the first 3 missions before I was litterally sick from playing the game it was that bad for me. I forced myself to finish it for the sake of finishing it. Now then, if there is a Halo Wars playdate I will participate, but more or less because I find gaming with the people here to be fun. The game itself isnt very enjoyable for me but for you guys I would put up with it.
