CUSTOM GAMES LOBBIES This is an idea I had on how 343 could implement a system to allow players on LIVE to join custom games created by others. I realize this may never happen... but I'll throw it out there if anyone wishes to have a discussion. Make it an option in the Infinity Menu, complete with its own nifty name and section of ship. Players will enter a menu... > Create Game > Join Game If you click "Create Game", you basically build a custom game. It would be understood by the player that a game created here will be posted into an archive of games, open to anyone who wishes to join. A host would have to press X or B to either allow or deny access to the game upon seeing gamertag in a joining notification. A host would have the rights to boot players from the game. If you click "Join Game", the interface looks up a game based on criteria like a certain game type, a certain map, or even random. The sorting loads a certain number of created custom games per iteration of the sorting method, scroll to the bottom of the list it gives you and it looks for more. When you highlight a certain game, it tells you how many players are in the game, who created it, what map it is, and what game type (slayer, slayer pro, swat, team slayer, so on so forth, or the game type custom name). People could come and go as they please even while people are already playing. The host could restart a game if he/she so chose. Again, this is just an idea. I really think the potential of this game to be incredibly fun is sorely underplayed by matchmaking. You just pick a gametype and strap yourself in to play it a while. Make it as close to getting a group of folks together for Friday Night Halo games at somebody's house as possible, just over LIVE. You know there would be more community among the players, because you know there are regulars who will start looking for certain people who do certain game types they like. Thank you for reading. The SAW is a great weapon to use... especially for knocking off those pesky promethians. It just rips. Haven't used the sticky detonator at all yet.... how does it play?

Thanks for posting this, OP. I can't wait to see the kind of dynamic that comes about with Team Regicide. Also, SWAT is great fun imo. I hope it never goes away, but I'm sure it will eventually be rotated out.

Oooh I get it. lol I was trying to picture what it would look like if a player who just really cannot even shoot period did nothing but jetpack around in matchmaking. ps - thruster pack is the shizz for rizz

I'd really like to see what a slayer match would be like if everyone used jetpacks.... even better on a map that forces players to use the jetpack. Disagreed. I love shooting while jetpacking. In fact, I think it takes a bit more skill to shoot effectively while airborne. Death from straight above.

You either like a game or you don't. If you can't stop playing Halo 4, then you like it even though it pisses you off at times. If you can't bring yourself to play Halo 4, it's because you don't like it. But if you never play Halo 4, then you probably don't have much to offer this community, and you'll likely be doing more condescending than constructing. Personally, I love H4. I don't ever play COD, so I could give a crap less about whether or not H4 is like it. As always, no disrespect intended. Just my opinion, of course.

Well I would say stop thinking about the rank and why you are playing with whomever, some people are really overthinking this. 343i is not out to personally shame people individually by pitting them against "really skilled" people. You win some, you lose some. If you really feel that you can't hold your ground quite as well as before, how else would you remedy it other that by really just getting better at the game and what you can do. Not being a jerk about it but that is really what is up. I am a casual player, but like anyone else, I have more fun when I am up than I do when I am down.

Me too, brother, me too. All we need is a small group of like-minded players. Swat shotties, slayer shotties, aerial swat, straight magnums, we can play it however we'd like. Custom games ftw.

I did read your post, and I can see it is fairly well thought out. This response is coming from someone who completed all Halo games minus Halo Wars and Halo 3 ODST. Well, you're right about there not being a consistency between H3 and Reach. I was also taken aback by the addition of many of the features, but not to say I was disappointed. I often played games that facilitated that "Old Halo" feel to a degree. Because the maps were not proportionally oversized for the size of the player, I thought it had a better flow to it. Not too fast paced, plenty of room to work, but not enough open room to slow down the game. H3 maps were just so huge that, in my opinion, it slowed down the pace of the game too much. I disagree with you about Reach. Sure there were many additions to the gameplay, but I think that going from the sluggish H3 to Reach is why it seemed more fast paced to you, but I never really felt like it was a rush play. The different gametypes were available if you didn't prefer the AA's, and I often took advantage of that. But sometimes, it was a lot of fun to play with the AA's (minus armorlockers, those dirtbags). Not to mention you were Spartan III's which were not as massive as the Spartan II's (chief). I really wish I could have seen (or would see with H4) gametypes where everyone uses the jetpack, because a straight up aerial slayer would be incredibly fun, I think. I'm still getting used to the fact that we can choose our loadouts. I don't mind so much that basically everyone has access to a specific set of the same power weapons each game, because it prevents any one person from powerhousing a weapon. And I don't know about you, but I ain't scared of no gosh damned DMR. Also, I agree with you on the plasma pistol. That should be something reserved for finding on the map for taking out vehicles. Yes, H4 is much faster in gameplay. They threw in that instant spawn which rushes the gameplay and encourages impatience. It is a different kind of Halo, but I personally am loving it as much as I did H2. It's on a simpler level, though. It's like the physics and the size of the battlefields and the size of the players fit, in my opinion. The pace is fast, but I don't believe it is unbalanced. It compensates that fast pace with having fairly open areas to play, but not so open that you can't ever find anyone (in a substantially populated game, obviously). I'm giving 343 a thumbs up with it. I would also contemplate that the "fast pace" has to do with it being a young release thus far, and many new people are still popping in. I admit, although I've been through a lot of different Halos, I still got that nervous first few matches where I was for the first time competing and trying to learn how everything works. I think if there's a lot of that going on, then those particular games will seem frantic. Good post, OP. I respect your perspective on it. The guy has a right to his perspective, and every right to post it in an attempt to engage in a discussion. No need to try to shut folks down because you don't agree and you crave the last word on the matter. We're all just people here.
