Reach surpasses H4 for online player population......
ProudDrunkIrish replied to littletunny's topic in Halo 4
I hope they don't remake any of the good halo 3 lvl's for this game, after seeing the way ragnarok has gone i would worry that the changes to the game be as they may need entirely new lvl's designed for them. The pit was an awsome lvl but with ordinance drops lol it would be destoyed, the only place they should bring back old lvl's is if they do a classic playlist with old school features. Halo 4 is not Halo of the past and if they want it to succeed they have to take what they have done to it and move forward, the game is the not the beloved halo's of the past, its a different game with the same title so now we need different maps. So far many features have been dissapointing but the game taken away and thought of as a non Halo Halo (I know that makes little sense lol) is not a bad game, its lost what made Halo good for me personally, but they have made a game that any child can pick up and play hoping for it to increase its success.. Time will tell if they have done the right thing or not, i'll play it on and off for a long time to come but the addiction I had to the previous Halo's has yet to appear which means it probably never will. -
I was meaning heavies i.e tanks, sorry i did not make that clear, also the gauss is the only one that really rules the map as the rest can be killed too easily by DMR fire alone.. Then again its prob not the lvl as lets face it having a plasma pistol as a starting weapon has killed off heavies.. whether it be tank or mantis, or even banshee or ghost you can just keep hitting then with plasma shots run up and beat them to death..

Wow there really is no tactical gameplay here!

To be honest it is the reason, the best players won the fight for the power weapons and then they controlled a lvlv for a bit thanks to their good work, the fact that you had to move during a round to see if these weapons had returned stopped this new sort of camping, Also a team playing together (talking to each other) knew what weapons and even how many shots in said weapons the enemy had. The people who complain about the old system are usually those who were not as good and wanted an easier game, Halo should be hard - it means you have to improve. I was rubbish online at the start of Halo 3 but by the end I was confident of beating anyone.. (didn't always happen but hey if they won they were better), there is no becoming great at this game its just too easy, I played no reach and thus no halo game at all from just after reach came out (went off playing CoD), I came back to play H4 and i find there is little difference between me and the lads who played reach a lot. This is the sign of a noob game people are complaining about. In previous games teamates used their heads but now it appears an epidemic of brain rot has hit the gaming community -
I think its a case of entirely new types of maps for this entirely different game, Halo 3 maps were designed for and were perfect for the game, ragnarok for example was big (no sprint) and the game played out different as a result, now its basically boring long range target practice that requires more luck than skill!!! Sad to see my favourite halo lvl destroyed but Halo 4 is not suited to it. Exile is ok but with the ability of starting with a plasma pistol they have made the scorpion a suicide mission unless your team help (they never do) its too confined for a vehicle lvl. that said preferring it to ragnarok these days. Longbow is an excellent lvl if people would just vote for it, as it has a main holding point that both teams want which creates a nice battle zone. The rest are ok at best, I suppose thats why nobody picks them!!

I agree almost entirely, never did play a lot of reach but an insane amount of Halo 3, in that game if you were good you could take on and defeat 2 enemies in this game that does not happen, too many perks, too many easy to use weapons, too easy to get weapons. Take valhalla for example i have been on teams where not a single other player has tried to advance even as far as the centre hill, they run off to the sides sit there and wait, as a result any enemy that comes over the hill has a team firing at him so the enemy never advance beyond the hill. As a fun game this is less fun than CoD at the moment and I say that with much regret, Halo 3 ate a large chunk of my life while H4 is something I get bored of in a few rounds. I am not the only one as my friends who loved H3 and reach are currently playing a mixture of other games (not 1 of em on halo) which shows its failure. The assault for the power weapons and everyone starting on a fair playing field made previous halo's into an all out assault team warfare game where the best player won and deserved to win. Halo 4 is a noob friendly shadow of it. -
I like the game hated reach but yet I find where I was addicted to Halo 3, I could not be arsed playing this game unless I am bored, I have often watched rubbish on telly instead lol, Still a good game enjoy it in short bursts but not the same as past Halo's, different maker etc. not really surprised.

I still do not understand why europe gets no codes!!! We get no double xp, no specialization codes and pay just as much for the game. Why on earth did they decide to just ommit the above for such a large part of their market. Well I am left a little dissapointed as getting the specialization codes for free was all over the net but the info about europe not getting them only seemed to surface after it was out a few weeks!!
-
Problem(s) with obtainiang specializations, can anyone help?
ProudDrunkIrish replied to TheBramMan's topic in Halo 4
If you live in europe you are not getting the codes!!! It would appear that they have only given them to the states and a few other countries (not sure why) I have not recieved any neither have anyone I know.. -
Its connection, I have the same issue all the time its like a latent lag, ever notice that the enemy players does not die straight after your kill shot but instead dies just before you fire the next one!! I live with a constant but not game breaking lag in this game, I dare say many more are the same, it always seems to be that second behind all the time, cannot really play swat as a result but in slayer its ok. There is nothing you can do the truth is if the game has you dying then you probably did and due to lag your well planned escape was doomed from the getgo... Bit of a balls but something we have to live with.

I like the weapon personally and use it quite a bit. It gets cheap kills though in anything more than a 1 on 1 often leads to your death. The charge/release time is very open making it a very easy weapon to use there really is no skill involved! I had it working well after using it in 3 rounds. It is becoming very common. Was playing oddball yesterday and both teams were just running round with boltshots lol. Have to say in slayer its not that big an issue but in objective games it is becoming some people primary. The range is well outside melee range (not sure why people keep claiming it to be such a short range weapon), many of my kills have been beyond the 1HK range of say a scattershot. Being a user of the gun I like it but have to admit it will become a problem in some objective games (just a matter of the novelty wearing off), As i have said before they could change it slightly e.g. keep the 1HK, reduce the distance to just beyond or equal to melee range, make it do next to no damage when you are outside the 1HK range. These changes would keeps its use but make it a little less common. As I said I like it as it is but have to admit its a bit over the top for a secondary but still no game breaker. Most players using it will die once they get a kill, still love killing a sword guy or shotgun guy with it lol. Have to say seems to be evenn more powerful than a mauler was in Halo 3....

Halo has now become just like call of duty.
ProudDrunkIrish replied to TheUnknownHero(Rise)'s topic in Halo 4
The game itself is not like COD the way players play it is!!!! There has become this hang back and wait attitude and an obsession fr K/D that has plagued the CoD series forever. the game itself is a mix of Halo and without doubt they stole some of the better CoD features but who cares. Its the mindset of the players that has become the issue, this game could have gone either way but went the wrong way in this sense. Just my opinion. Maybe some of the new features created this but I doubt that was their intention. I am enjoying it but become quickly bored (something that never happened in H3) -
lol I do this all the time haha.. assasinations are an unesecary (but cool) addition, good old beat down to the back was fine. Its the way of the game I wish they had kept the medal for it.

Sniper RIFLES ARE TOO STEAKING OVERPOWERED!!!!
ProudDrunkIrish replied to marcus903's topic in Halo 4
I will agree that the binary rifle is a bit over the top hit em anywhere and they die lol, way too easy even if it has limited ammo. The Human sniper is insane against machines in this game, I go vehicle hunting with the thing these days lol, but then again the DMR is also ridiculous at destroying machines (seems that single shot human weapons have double damage on machines!!), so I guess that was to be its unique thing, beam rifle just seems same as ever tbh. -
The are introducing all the game modes for a period each, finding out whats wrong with them and then trying to fix it before they do a final release, to me this seems like a great idea considering this forum was littered with complaints about team snipers for example. Have paience better they take time and get it right rather than do the COD thing and leave players to suffer with a piece of trash.

The only thing they can really do to it is shorten the 1HK range and make it so if you ae outside that range it does next to nothing, The range is quite a bit more than melee range as most seem to think, I use it quite a bit and I have been amazed sometimes when i thought I released way too early and find myself with a kill. I am sure quite a few have had those moments when they think WTF he was mailes away!!! Its no game breaker but a bit of tweaking would not be out of order, I would still use it but as it stands you either 1Hk with it or take their shields, all in all it is just a bit overpowered. No secondayr should be able to beat a shotgun at close range lol.

The in your face gamepley i was describing was more a case of endless advance i.e. when playing valhalla in the past players would go over the hill to attack those coming from the other side even with a BR yet now people never advance and why would you when a whole team with DMR's are sitting back waiting for you so they can pick you off long range. I enjoyed the new game style for a while and yet find myself bored and endlessley in dominion just for some fast paced action I mean since when did BTb become a boring game mode??? sit back, wait, take a few shots, find cover, wait, take a few more shots, etc, never advance!!!!! THE NEW HALO!!
-
Stop thinkin this is like past Halo games is probably the most important thing, Its more COD like in the way you have to play (Not saying the game is like COD), Having never played reach after the first couple of days it came out my previous Halo experience was from H3, since then I have played MW2/BO/MW3 and yet I acclimatised to this game as fast as all my friends that played Reach. I am nowhere near as good as I had managed to become on H3 but can do quite well in H4, IMO this is down to the speed at which you die from multiple players outside your radar range, you have to change the way you move/advance, what ground you try to hold etc. Its something more like the way you move and play in COD games than H3 for example. I still find myself advancing in ways I shouldn't (had been playing a bit of H3 before H4 came out) because it is habit in halo games, when i do this I die LOTS!! I know this is not much specific help but the old play style combined with lag will make it hard for you to ever do well.

By Camping in Ragnorok I mean sitting back and waiting for the enemy to come to you!!! Its more failing to advance something you payed for dearly in previous Halo's and deserved to pay for. With the new loadouts it is prolific in this game and while there is nothing expecially wrong with it, it does ruin the old good natured in your face fun that was Halo.. The idea of pushing the enemy back to their spawn point and sometimes overrunning it was the best thing ever but has gone the way of the fairy's in this game. In exile you get players that just hang back around the tank spawn in the hope it will be back soon, same for snipes in ragnarok. Not saying this did not exist in previous versions of the game but it is prolific in the new one. There is not much 343 can do about player mentalities many of which have been warped by COD for too many yrs. and it is sad to see a good game being ruined not by the designers failing but by the players playing it!!!

Active Camo is pretty close to overpowered if it isn't already
ProudDrunkIrish replied to sgtmattbaker's topic in Halo 4
Its not so much the cammo sniper but the team you are with, if your team are good they will see him once he shoots and take care of him. One thing I will say as a cammo user is that when i move while its active, on my screen i am very visible yet when facing a moving cammo enemy they seem a lot harder to track, I assume its the same for people trying to follow me!!! Maybe they could make it worse during movement that way when you respawn if the sniper is still fully cammo you would know he is prob in the same spot. -
Yeah I can see what the poster means.. its always the same 2 maps but being as the new age halo is camp, sit back and take long shots its no real surprise as the other lvl's force you to play somewhat. Played Ragnarok (Valhalla was my favourite lvl ever in Halo 3) 3 times yesterday with different teams of players and each time I had the bad luck of playing with a team that never once tried to take the middle ground????? I know this is not always the case but in these games we had many chances to advance but my team never did.. I took the spartan at the start of one game and killed all but the enemy mantis which should have given us lvl superiority only to realise that my entire team were hanging around our base waiting for the enemy to advance. Of course we lost but a few campers got the psitive K/D which appears to be all people care for. They need to design all new lvl's as the changes in the game can ruin what was good about old lvl's, I had wanted 'The Pit' to return but now see that it will be nothing more than players sticking to their sides of the lvl and anyone who advances getting DMR'd to death in a heartbeat. I say more new lvl's where all the power weapons are spread out so they have to be fought for at the start, hell take the sniper from the base in valhalla and put them at the base of the hill on each side. Bring back the enjoyable mayhem.

Yup and I have read all about double xp for the states but none for us lol.. seems like they have forgotten one of the biggest markets on the planet.
-
Wow and there I was thinking I would recieve them... So Ireland not being on that list will not get any codes, that seems a bit unfair to the entire of europe??? So what do I do now to get the codes, buy them??? Would love some striaght answers now that this new spanner has been thrown in the works.

The only weapon slightly overpowered in my opinion is the Boltshot. Before people start giving out to me for saying this please understand I use it a lot and love it, the fact that I use it so much is one of the reasons I know it is way to good. Things they could do: Decrease the range to beat down distance. Make it so once a player is outside the instant kill zone that it does little damage to shields. Make the allowable release time shorter. Increase charge time. One or more of the above could be implemented without taking away its unique ability of a 1HK, these would merely make it a little tougher/riskier to use and would ensure that it is still less powerful than say a shotgun. I like it as a weapon and without the 1HK it would be pointless. All the above said the weapon is not game destroying as it is....

Now that the poster mentions it I have to agree, in Halo 3 something would have me laughing every round but now I don't.... cannot say what it is but there is something about it alright.

Twice tonight I have been run over by a friendly tank and each time it has said suicide??? Is this some lame ass fix to betrayals or something??
