  1. Actually, a 6 year old PC with at least a GeForce 9600GT could easily (roughly) handle Crysis 3 on Maximum settings and not hiccup. Cryengine 3 can produce upwards of 1.5 milion polys at one time, combined with numerous and much better partical effects. Halo 5's version of the Blam! engine has obviously sacraficed quality rendering for quantity.
  2. Animations are typically designed and compiled to be run at or around 30fps natively in a game. Most game engines simply upscale the framerate. In this case, 343 wanted to design 60fps animations even though the engine was NOT designed well enough to provide a stable 60fps under heavy load. You also have to remember that the hardware is still new and NO software has yet to be created than can successfully tap into or utilize even a fraction of the over all potential power of the console. As an example, look at Halo 3 compared to Halo Reach/4. The engine didn't change much, but what did change is enough time to allow better usage of the software when compiling the rendering layers of the engine.
  3. Couldn't help but notice that I seem to be missing a few awards....most noticable at first glance is "Grenade". Will I have the " Inheritor" award in place of it or any others that I am missing?
  4. Historically, all Halo titles have been shipped with 9 different multilingual unicode string options - meaning 9 different languages. Said languages are as follows... 0 - English 1 - Japanese 2 - German 3 - French 4 - Spanish 5 - Italian 6 - Korean 7 - Chinese 8 - Portuguese Depending on what region your console is set to use, THAT will be the system's primary language display and you will have to change German > English within the games settings. Never have I seen a locked language setting for discs based on where in the world they are sold. Language settings will always be changeable.
  5. Doubtful. Along with CoD releasing, the game will also have to contend with other FPS or FPS inspired titles as well, such as Star Wars Battlefront. The bigger question everyone needs to ask is "Will Halo ever regain it's former glory that we all remember from CE to 3". The answer is no. Halo is no longer a viable or unique shooter that holds it's own. Halo isn't the same game it used to be, nor does it have only a handful of other gaming population contenders. CE was the first real multiplayer shooter for the Xbox and consoles in general since others like Goldeneye only allowed splitscreen and not LAN. Halo 2 was the first console shooter to have online enabled multiplayer. Halo 3 built upon what Halo 2 did, but suffered slightly due to the the then influx of shooters that began to emulate and build on what Halo accomplished. Flash forward to now, and we see that the FPS market is not only 10x greater than what it was when Halo 3 entered, but we now have a general stale market as well where the titles and concurrent new IP's only seem to emulate and mash already used concepts and mechanics together rather than create purely new ones. Suffice to say, how long can ANY fps title survive when it only grows in terms of using already laid out and functional concepts from other titles that it competes with? The only thing that seems to draw players in now is the amount of customization a title can fit into it. I hate to be the one to say it, but the quality of the overall game now takes a back seat to the player representation quality. Games used to focus on story, and the replay value of that story or gamemodes. Now we seem to only judge replay value based on what additional cosmetics we can dress our little virtual dolls up in. Not only cosmetic flair, but the toughting of the utter failure of a real "editing" feature is also killing the IP as well. Forge was a great creation for those who could not do what actual game developers do or what PC do. But for all it's glory and workings, it is limited and quickly becoming stale as well. How many iterations of the same old editing features can be stomached before it gets old? For me, it got old after seeing the same handful of maps used and those Forge maps being worked into actual DLC. The only thing Forge does now that it didn't before is allowing a few gimmicky scripting options which isn't really scripting anyway since there is no real "from boolean" compiling or usage at a basic user level. This got a lot longer than I originally wanted it to be, but hey... I'm a regular TL;DR master around here. Short version for those who decided to scroll to the end.....Halo will never regain it's original popularity back. Times are changing and Halo is fading. It's a fact and we all have to deal with it.
  6. ^^ There is nothing for 343i to ignore here, as this is NOT their soite, nor is it affiliated with Microsoft in any way. This is a fan site ran by the fans, for the fans.
  7. Talking out my arse? Thats pretty funny coming from you. Films have a lower framerate for production and quality purposes, not to mention the lack of support in theatres due to the cost behind upgrading equipment. How do I know they simply want to sell more hardware? The answer should be obvious. Look at Halo and how it looks. Look at how much the engine renders and the quality. I could pick apart the horrible smoothing, shadows/lightmaps and texture issues in Halo 5 well into the new year. Now look at a new game coming out a month after Halo, Star Wars Battlefront. The asmount of rendering onscreen and action/detail inside said rendered environments is not only double of what Blam! can do, but sadly its likely 3x to 4x better. Is there any excuse why 343 can optimize or write an engine to handle something simplistic like Halo at 60 fps in splitscreen compared to what resource utilizations others have done? NO. Plain and simple there are only 2 logical outcomes... 1.) 343 lacks the talent and know-how on how to achieve superior results thsn previous engines designed to run on lesser hardware. 2.) They decided to not add splitscreen for a reason beyond the laughable "no 60 fps" claim. Forgot to add, if your gonna post a video over a framerate issue, try to do so from a "good" source? Not some gamer who Googled a few terms and results and presented them poorly and inaccurately. The videro had more fact holes than swiss cheese. Again though, I'll concider the source.
  8. Is it just me or has EVERYONE missed the entire point and lack of a full explanation in relative terms about how split-screen is a bad thing? Everyone, including 343i keeps babbling about 60 fps this or no 60fps that when it comes to split-screen. I guess everyone forgot fundamentals about resolution and frame-rate and how they are tied together? If you have a 60" TV screen and you play a game at 60 fps you will see the difference right away, granted you are within 2-3ft of the screen. Moving back from the screen your eyes and brain interpret what it sees differently. Moving further to the medium average 5-6ft away from the television reduces your vision and perception of frame-rates and resolution. It's not an opinion, it's basic science. Adding on that, going into split screen, even at a distance of 2-4ft, you now have a smaller resolution screen to look at, equating to the frame-rate not being noticeable to the point it would be playing standalone. Again move further to the average 5-6ft we have out televisions from the couch or other viewing place and the supposed "split-screen performance dip" becomes a negligible issue at best. I find it completely laughable that everyone falls victim to this obvious ploy to force gamers into buying additional equipment with a completely factless and baseless 30 vs 60 fps scenario presented by the developers. Case in point... I can force/tweak ANY co-op PC game from the curent year or current gen software development cycle to allow splitscreen co-op. And guess what? NOT A SINGLE ONE WILL DIP BELOW 60 FPS! Case in point, Halo Online using a newly modified Halo 3 engine that sports a native 60 fps can be played at the same exact fps with splitscreen enabled. The modified engine is using Halo 4 assets as well as custom newly created Halo 5 close assets. So what's going on? You really want to believe that splitscreen was taken out so YOU could have 60 fps instead of co-op splitscreen? To even believe that such a ridiculous notion would even begin to hold any truth just shows the complete amount of ignorance gamers have and how much they buy into ANYTHING that they are told. I'm not trying to come across as harsh, but I can't just sit here and listen to the drivel about things that are clearly not understood at all. 343 removed splitscreen under direct order from MGS in order to bank more money on hardware sales. Plain and simple. Believe otherwise? Show me some actual hard proof that the console can't produce an equal quality to what we would want on splitscreen.
  9. I actually stumbled upon Halo by complete accident. I was looking for awesome new PC games coming out and saw the Halo RTS demo. After I read about Microsoft obtaining it and seeing the FPS come about, I lost interest. Flash forward to Xbox Gen 1 launch, I bought it and Halo and actually didn't even play the Halo game until about 2001. After playing it, I was hooked and went and bought the limited edition halo clear green xbox.
  10. I too had issues with halo 4 regarding the vehicles. I avoided all flying vehicles in Halo 4 except for the levels in which I was forced to. There was an update fix for the controls and you should be able to find the "vehicle controls" in the settings somewhere. I can't remember exactly when they fixed the control issues, but I know it is there cause I was angry as hell about it being fixed long after launch day and after I already completed the game on legendary. And btw way, it took me 976 deaths on the broadsword level to complete it because there was no inverted controls.
  11. Super Jumps were not at any time a deliberate added item. Super Jumps are issues with collision and physics are certain intersecting points of geometry and nothing more. There is no way to "enable them". Because of the way the Xbox One handles collision and physics differently through the emulation to execute original Xbox Gen 1 code, some super jumps and exploits don't always work, or don't work at all. Had you read any dev blogs or watched any VidOCS about H2A and H2 in the MCC, you would know that 343i stated multiple times that not ALL explouts would work the same way as they did before due to architectural hardware changes and code running environment changes.
  12. Player complains about immature kids that leave or pull stupid idiotic crap on him. Said player also has immature tendancies indicated by his "Location" on his profile ......irony? Anyway, ranting with foul language is not a good way to be looked at seriously or be taken with credibility. Nor will it get you the answer, response or replies you are looking for. If you had any expereince with Halo 2 at all, you should know full well the spawn locations, zones, and anti-spawn zones as it's been over 10 years now. As for player population, again...you haven't gotten used to this same old community crap from players after 15 years?!? Nothing I see or expereince in halo multiplayer shocks me nor does it surprise me. Best advice I have for you, relax...it's just a game. Nothing that happens insidxe the game has any real world payoff or value. Don't sweat the small things...and such.
  13. Very long overdue and a wonderful addition to the MoM Legacy! Congrats Mel, enjoy your new color and status, and if your lucky.....your own emoticon;)
  14. I was not insulting his intelligence, as you would cleaely know if I was. I was simply correcting his "misinformation". As for spelling, I was using my tablet, and it twends to registwer key presseß wrong and I type faster than it can keep up with.
  15. We really need a speach correction feature...did the OP use a 5 year old to type this? LOL Seriously though, Microsoft bought the Halo brand from Bungie to help Bungie NOT go bankrupt, and did so long before Halo became an FPS. Bungie didn't ruin anything. Bungie created Halo, and therefore ran it and developed EXACTLY as they had planned, with minimal interuption from Microsoft aside from the whole RTS > FPS shift. Of coarse Microsoft is all about selling Xbox One's, it's the bread and butter of their Games division. It's also the exact reason we will never see another FPS Halo on the PC for the next half to full decade if we're lucky.
  16. No, Microsoft is not to blame for deadlines or their teams lack of development skill. The blame goes to 343 for not having the resources and talent to work with the utter incompitant deverlopers that were contracted to do MCC. Even Bungue knew that if HCEA was not monityored and lacked direct deverlopment, that it would have failed. But Bungiue had both talent and proper resources to be able to work on all their projects and pump out a fantastic title. 343 needs not only better leadership from both MGS and internall team wise, but it also needs to aquire serious talent and passion for Halo. 343 casn talk to me all they want about being a team of people passionate about Halo. In the end, their products don't produce nor ressrmvle said supposrd passion. Hell, I could run circles around half their development team on my free time from my full time job.
  17. Sorry to hear about your troubles dude, but you can't blame a game company for your obvious choice to buy costly new equipment just play a game, when your old equipment worked just fine. If you had done a proper Google or internet search you would have found a lot more data on the game and current issues with it. Also, if you are good at researching, you would have realized that THIS IS NOT 343's website, this is a fan forum. You want Halowaypoint, their official website where they will see items posted like this.
  18. You greatly underestimate how much work is involved and don't understand anything I tried to explain. At this point ot would be more beneficial for you to do some Blam! Engone homework and see how tags work.....then relay the ideas.
  19. Historicaly the HUD's are two part items. Weapons have their own separate HUD widget assignment, and the player biped has it's located usually in the globals tags. Now because each weapon has it's own HUD element such as weapon schematic, ammo and reticule, those elements cannot be edited usually because it is a shared resource. Now unless they use a script to allow editing and saving the meta data, it isn't going to happen. Same goes for player HUD elements. To give you a better understanding of how the custom items work, all titles that allowed a player customizable appearance are editable fields located inside mainmenu.map. These particulad editable fields are of no real importance hacking/modding wise since altering anything inside of it is not related to multiplayer or campaign items that would make or break the experience. Forge is done by editing the .scenario file located inside a map file. This is a small security concern because further editing or opening up of a scenario file would allow a multitude of editing to be done that could break the game or break the map file itself. All changed or edited scenario files are saved seperately since the map file itself cannot be really edited without a new signature. But as I said before, nothing is strictly impossible editing wise but the amount of items or content that can be edited or implimented correctly is very small. This is why most major content add-ons or 3rd party content is usually mostly seen on the PC end with the use of actual tools and SDK's.
  20. Saying "new mechanics" is not only a false statement, but a widely misunderstood video game phenom. Halo had at one point, under Bungie mind you, sprint, ads, armor abilities, wall climbing, weapon attachments, armor customization.....and that was all pre Halo 3. Don't believe it, watch the entire CE and Halo 2 Bungie VidOC's as well as poke around the beta map files and retail map files for yourself. 343 isn't adding anything new at all, they are simply revisiting odeas and concepts that were scrapped due to the previous 10 year engine writing and hardware capabilities not being able to incorporate those concepts properly. That being saod, Bungie nor 343 directly screwed anything up. Microsoft Game Studios is to blame. Any time a company like Microsoft or Activision get's their greedy hands on something, they warp it into a shell of what it's conceptual idea was. Case in point, Destiny and Halo CE. Arguing a developers ability is not an equal nor unbiased analysis unless said comparisons are done on using material and work that comes straight from said developer, and not while under a publishing contract. This whole thread aside from the factual points I brought up, are all irrelivant opinion based. People around here need to post facts, not opinions if you want to make a statement and prove something.
  21. Actually it is plagiarism, plain and simple. The audio, quote and written script of the quote are trademarked assets and property of Microsoft. Plagiarism is directly using any copyrighted material that you do NOT own, and using it for your own usage in any form without consent or citing. So no, he can't use the quote, tell people he came up with it, and or use it in any way that violates Microsoft's terms of usage. So for example, he could not write a short story and have a character use this exact quote. Regardless of who else has ever ised this wording or exact quote, Microsoft has a copyright. A similar example would be the whole "Overwatch" fiasco. How many people in history do you think ised the name Overwatch to name something? How many people can claim plagiarism or copyrights to it....only one, and it isn't Blizzard. Another example would be writing a report or essay for school and using material from other sources directly or even subtly changing it. The teacher will cite you for plagiarism on the spot.

  23. I did not say that it was "impossible" to incorporate into Halo for console. What I 'am sayiñg is that compared to other franchises, Halo is the most sparatic and chaotic fps game in terms of multiplayer. As I said, comparing how other titles and their PC counterpart operate and not an easy nor accurate comparison. If you are going to compare them, you need to run both side by side to see yourself, not just guess at it. I've done this many times with games like Crysis and Farcry. Both do have similar attributes, but the PC experience generally generates a mich more fluid and enjoyable game hopping matchmaking time. The other noticeable difference and frankly the most drastic of differences is the incorporation of Live. Live is not present on PC titles except Microsoft games directly tied to the Live service. Most or all utilize Steam, Origin or another 3rd party service and lack a friend list system that works like Live does. Also keep in mind that games like Battlefield or others non-1st party to Microsoft, do NOT have their games hosted on Microsoft Live servers. Co trary to what you may believe, any company that produces a multiplayer game, hosts the servers themselves and simply uses Live as a tunneling service to access them. I don't know exactly why people think Live is a sta d alone hosting service. It isn't, it's a layered access protocol to gain entrance into the games you want. If Live was a standalone hosting service, then I myself would be required to host a Live layer service when I play games like Halo 2 Vista. I can bypass the Live service altogether and host a game without it.
  24. I can see how this idea is a good thing, but on a console, it isn't likely to happen at all for Halo. It's not about that it can't be done, but more about that the console engine doesn't support it. Speaking in ter!ms of how it handles on PC is not a good comparison, nor is comparing it to other franchoses. In both cases, Halo for the PC platform undergoes changes to the netcode to support a additional server which hosts a master lists of available lobbies. Halo on the console is designed to be easier to navigate and form parties, rather than host a server or match and require friends to search or locate that server. As it was mentioned before, imagine how many private or public lobbies you would have to scroll through to find one? Yes adding a search feature would make that task easier, but in reality, using a thumbstick and virtual keyboard is a lot of hassle. On top of that, if it is a private lobby, then what is the point? You invite only the people you want anyway? I think in theory the idea is applicable to the console side, but in practice...it isn't. Spend any great amount of time using this feature on current PC or console titles that support it, then tell me it is a 100% great concept and worth the additional engine re-write to support.
  25. Let's be real honest here. Quality reduction on splitscreen is and will happen regardless of framerate or desolution. Framerate drops due to rendering is hardly relevant and the only real quality issue comes from having to split a native 720 amongst one screen into two actual screens. The hoenst truth is that the Xbox One hardly has any real 1080i or 60fpd titles. Almost all of them including Halo, are simply upscaled. That being said, there will be no real quality reduction from splitscreen as each player has a smaller screen to look at. I have seen more quality reduction as a result of the abismal netcoding within Halo. So no, splitscreen DOES NOT impact quality one bit. Microsoft and 343 simply want to push and sell more hardware and Halo is how they plan to do a vast majority of it. You can all speak otherwise, but unless someone can post a true raw video with statistical framerate data from another similar game to show this supposed huge quality reduction.....your all just talking half witted commentary from popular belief and no actual fact.
