What is your reason for staying on the forum?
Twinreaper replied to Melody's topic in General Discussion
I just stay for the lulz. -
A retailer can price point ANY product to whatever amount they wish. No sole company wholesaler/distributer such as Microsoft can enforce, tell or dictate to anyone, what to charge. But you woukd kbow that if you spent ANY time in the retsil industry. Further, the cases themselves are stock mass produced items. And yes there is a sigificant manufacturing charge for all pre-packaged items as well as stand aline packing material. As much as I would live to humor your attempt to insult me, I don't feed trolls. But I am glad you di recognize the superior intellect.

All I see are useless half baked reasons to include a disc. I just wanna start off and end my 2 cents by saying that the same people moaning and complaining about NOT having a physical copy, are the exact reason behind the attempted shift to 100% digital media. Fact is, everyone from age 25 and below are part of the most self centered, instant gratification, self entitled lazy generation that this type of business model is meant to effect. EVERYONE seems to want what they want without leaving a PC, their phone, console etc. They want instant access and goods with minimal effort. I have yet to see any real argument about the need or benefit of having a physical disc. For personal giggles, let's review the idiotic reasons people have posted... 1. It adds value to the collection. Value to whom and what? It's a game! Unless you really think you are going to retire one day off this collection, or seem to think that personally it will help you sleep better at night knowing you have all mint physical copies....your an idiot. Sad but true. Value to a collection is subjective and meaningful simply to the single person who owns or has it. 2. What if you lose access to your account? Again, your an idiot. Are you really that dumb that you would NOT rotate passwords monthly or even be dumb enoigh to post, share or otherwise compromise your own account? Before any half attempts are made on this one...show me some actual people who ever fell victim to this, or some acrual statistic that supports this being an issue. 3. Console Ban. Again, the worst kind of idiot imaginable! I have never in all my years of Live gaming, ever had my console banned. Please don't try to cite that you were in a lobby or game and someone else was cheating/modding, blah blah blah. You screwed up and got caught breaking the ToS, plain and simple. If you did get your console banned, then you deserve to suffer. Don't try to work around the issue. 4. Manufacturing is peanuts. Really? Wow how insightful! To begin with, Microsoft sells all the games to retailers, who then in turn decide on the pricepoint to customers. Microsoft makes a basic flat price off it's initial selling to retailers. This is why we see such a varying price on games depending on retailer. It all comes down to which business wants you to buy from them more. Disc manufacturing of the actual physical disc might be cheap, but now you need to factor in boxing, printed materials such as booklets, shrink wrap, labor, etc. The company who makes these discs still needs to make a profit. Digital copies are simply Microsoft's way of competing with retailers to offer the same product and service by cutting out a middleman. Unless you really think the economy of the world runs off puppy dog farts and raindbows, you need a real economic reality check. 5. I need to have it to complete a collection! Why? The most need I have seen historically is simply to back up one's need or desire to appear superior or to impress people by how much time, effort and money they are willing to wadte on a GAME! If you have no other true intention other thàn attempting to impress other human beings, then you have something mentally wrong with you to begin with. Not much else to say about that. 6. I have terrible or unreliable download speeds. Sorry your a basic networking idiot? Or better yet, sorry you were born into a country or region with poor infrastructure or that your poor? Why is it you think that your problem should be everyone else's and that you are OWED a resolution for it? You are the exact same type by definition and complaint, that cause huge headaches for anyone attempting to game with YOU in their party or lobby. Again...the whole self centered entitled crown gets placed with this one. EVERYONE always has a particular issue or drastically different setup. Instead of complaining about it to the useless masses of the internet, do something proactive about yourself! Oh wait....that would mean you would have to actually think or put some effort into something. Clearly you can't do that since you seem to think your biggest life problem is video games. Again...this is why animals eat their young and Euthenasia used to be a thing... So I'll say it again, unless you are truely going to argue this whole topic with actual proof of concept or or back up wild claims with fact, don't bother posting. All I see is childish claims and boasts about wanting something that is quite frankly trivial.

Halo 2 was specifically designed to be just as difficult as you are experincing. As Caboose said, put the tips we gave yo to good use or search out those whom like myself, could complete H2 Legendary in their sleep. If I had an Xbox One I would help you.

I have no clue. I had the monitor sitting behind my pc chasis while I had the whole thing taken apart, awaiting a cleaning and new hdd install. I decoded to put it back together and power it up and that was what I was greated with. My only guess, is that maybe my 4 yr old niece maybe was playing nearby while I was away all weekend and maybe knocked my case into the monitor. Upon inspection under light at an angle, you can see a hairline crack in a wave pattern along the top running left to right. Yes it is. The new OS builds upon Window 8.1 which had all the stability of Windows 7, but designed the new OS to be more Windows 7 remeniscent. Spyro, a few key improvements are as follows... 1. DirectX12 2. Major Security update via file system handling and negation of needing plugins via browsing. 3. New processor handling code execution, reducing overhead and redundant processor state/execution within memory leaks/OS handling and general computation cycles. 4. Fully supports all current gen hardware including full utilization of GPU models stemming from GeForce Series 5 and above, and AMD equivilent. In short, Windows 10 is more stable than Windows 7 and introduces new features not able to be supported by the past kernels of Windows 7 & 8. As far as compatibility with all games and applications in current use, I can estimate roughly 95% of existing items work flawlessly and faster than on previous OS versions. I didn't intend to have to answer questions here, but u til my pc get's sorted out and I can do a proper video, this will have to surfice.

To expand on this I would offer the following....learn and memorize spawn patterns! Throughout Halo 2 you will encounter many areas with enemies in swarms or Elites at Honor Guard permutations. Learn from your deaths, and learn where the enemies repeatedly step or come out of cover from. EX, opening doors, blind corners, etc... Learning where an enemy comes from and the engagement tactic they use, can help you successfully land a consistent guaranteed kill using a plasma grenade, and in mlst cases will assist in lowering nearby squads in health and shields. Grenades are your friend! Second tip....Needler! Dual weilded needlers are a good choice of weaponset in Halo 2.

There is no shame in using a video or written guide for Halo 2. From my perspective and many I have seen throughout the franchise, Halo 2 has the most difficult Legendary Campaign. If you ever have any quesrions about something you find in the guides, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck finishing the game dude.

Hey Guys!!!! So I took a little trip to an old semi abandoned coal mining town called Centralia located in north-md Pennsylvania. Short version.... a coal vein fire broke out in the 60's and still continues to burn to this day, and likely for the next 100 years. All but 7 residents remain and it has become a huge tourist stop. One local interest is the old partly destroyed remnants of what used to be Route 61. This mile long stretch of abandoned highway is now home to art and paintings of all types. Now I know your all thinking, l8ke what the hell Twin! What does this have to do with us?!? Well that's a good question...and here is the answer! Word of warning..,some of the pics have or may have offensive words written. 343 Is Everywhere!!!!! Karin.....thought of you! Even Centralia knows who I love! Science facts are everywhere! Well that about wraps it up! Join me next time when I search out another abandoned or semi destroyed ghost town somewhere America! huge thanks to whomever edited it to include spoilers. Awesome mod work!!!!!

Twinreaper replied to RedStarRocket91's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm...since I am like ancient....I'll just post a Top 5 for me... 5. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (Nintendo 64) 4. Fiñal Fantasy VII (Sony Playstation) 3. Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64) 2. Conker's Bad Fur Day (Nintendo 64) 1. Metroid Prime (Nintendo Gamecube) Sad to say that other than Halo, Microsoft has had no other exclusive to warrant even being in my top 5. Halo just doesnt cut it... -

You can get a student license for 3ds Max for free from Autodesk. Sorry, but the $$$ excuse sounds like a copout for the real underlying problem. That problem being you couldn't animate a stick figure walking, let alone a full detailed, complex scene of over 1,000 assets with collision and interactive effect elements. And as Bacon already pointed out, your little "we call ourselves animators" group is in the minority. Give me one good reason why 343 should include or even tweak their engine and tools for you, so people like you and others can profit illegally from their work anyway. And please don't try to say that no one profits from ot...cause that is a bold face and is being naive.

They forgot about us for over a decade. Historically looking at their on-off again promises and actual work in regards to GFWL and commitments to actual good coding/support/implimentàtion....they never really cared about is. Fact is, once Microsoft starting making actual good profit from the Xbox 360, Microsoft shifted their single concern to selling locked horrible hardware to get awesome 1st Party titles. Not only this, but their ridiculous monitary business model for 3rd party games and updating costs have almost eliminated all the good games we actually see coming to PC. Franchises like BF, Activision, Blizzard and Bethesda don't worry because they have lots of monitary resourcea and include their entire audience. Microcrap is like the ******* 2 cousin on your moms 2nd husband side who married her aunts great granddaughter. In other words....they dont care about you, they care about $$$

So tired of seeing all these 30-60 fps arguments. Resolutiion is the most important, but distance to tv or monitor dictates even more. People need to do some research and learning before spouting...

4k may be available, but is but it isn't even being considered for TV abd Movie production. They have yet n/to move from 24fps to 48-60. That being said, stretching the resolution to 4k for a gaming industry that doesn't use it, would look horrible.
-
Twin, just wanted to throw this out there, but many film makers film their footage in 4k-6k. Not saying this is at all relevant, but just wanted to point that out.

Android is not easy to work with. iOS is easier in that a simple toolchain like Objective C can be made to use with existing iOS source for compiling onto both Windows and Win Mobile. Google however uses proprietary API's and the source has to be used in strict unmodified C++. In lamens terms....Android can't be converted, it needs to be made from scratch. So takung an existing win32 app and msking it android isnt as easy as a button click. Also bear in mind that Android uses GPL not DirectX. But there is hope. Microsoft already announced plans for Project Astoria, that will allow both apps to develop and run on one another. So we may see Android based Halo games sometime in the future.

There are no servers for H2V that are hosted by Microsoft nor 343. All H2V servers are self hosted. If you cannot find any servers in your lobby menu, yhen there is either a problem with your network OR the Live Master Server Listing service is experiencing problems.

I already stated I wouldn't buy the game. I onl6 bought Halo 4 for my son. So that is irrelivant. As for Battlepacks, I never got into Battlefield outside the campaign, so I have no clue how they work.

The physics are spot on. Scientific fact that Titanium Alloy melts at 1698 Celcius and while exposed to high temperatures, both Nitrogen and Oxygen gas weaken the alloy. Yes we do have materials that can withstand upwards of 2,000 Çelcius, but these composites are ceramic and stone similar to the ones used on Space Shuttles. On the other sciency part, it would literally be impossible for a weapon the size of the ones carried by troops to produce the heat required to actually biproduct plasma. Even if it could, the radius and temperature of the air around the weilder would result in instant death. Energy Shields as in the Halo Universe would not protect against heat very well. While yes we can create certain types of magnatic fields to stave off radiation, physical impact etc ... the power required to produce such an energy shield simply would not be able to be fitted into an armor....with everything else a Spartan Suit supposedly supports and does. Even if such a shield could be created by a power soirce that could fit small enough inside, it's output ratio would not achieve the required amount to protect the user from everything we have seen. Gel layers....say what? At maximum, your talking about a viscous liquid that is likely (from armor shot) no thicker than 1/2 to a full inch in depth. Name one liquid polymer in a globen like state that could differ or absorb vibration or impact enough to completely fend off physical harm. Heres a thought for you... A penny dropped from the Empire state building has just enough mass and acceleration from gravity to split concrete. Now compare the mass of the penny to a Spartan Alloy armor that weighs a thousand times that. Just an impact alone would likely result in a crater the size of one New York City Block!

Textures are not low resolution to reduce framerate. Textures historically almost never exceed 2048x2048 and almost never come in super high True Colir format. Most textures are 1048 at dxt, 3 or 5. Animations are not tied to framerate either. Every siñgle animation has its own seperate varying anount of key frames at which the animation plays out. Basically sometging like an assassination from Halo 4, might have say...39 keyframes. That means the animation plays out in 39 frames regardless if the game is running at 30 or 60 fps. All 60 fps does, is negate the need to have motion blur at lower fps fràmerates.

My mind isnt limited. I operate on fact and reality. I thought this was supposed to be a serious discussion about armor construction based on scientific principles. Sorry, I guess I missed the point. Please continue, I won't interupt any further.

Ok so as the title says, I'm looking to see if there would be any interest in a Windows 10 Introduction and Walkthrough as well as an Xbox One Integration Introduction and Review. Windows 10 is right around the corner and I'm sure lot's of members alike are either waiting to see what this new OS and Xbox thing ends up being before they decide to upgrade from their Windows 7 or Vista/XP setups, or taking the plunge head first. Basically I want to do a video showcasing Windows 10 features as well as the Xbox One Streaming features so members of the community can see first hand how everything plays out and works. And maybe, you may learn a few cool tricks along the way or find help solving an issue. If there is interest and you would like to add a suggestion for the video content, please post it up and let me know. I have about 3 weeks to finalize the format and go over the content before I make the video.
