I explained it wrong. I didn't notice until I just re-read what I wrote. The "3" setting is for the amount of radians that the reticule is away from the enemy. Meaning, that where the video places the reticule and is still red, is more than likely exactly still a "3" for that settings. The range at which most weapons are effective with those results, is usually seen at between 12 to 24 world units. Now I have yet to exactly reviel the float numbers for those particular fields of the weapons, but they do vary on every single weapon.

Can i put a hardDrive onto another x-box??
Twinreaper replied to PublicAlliance's topic in General Discussion
You can use one of the myriad of Explorer 360 tools avaialble for PC. As for model of the xbox, it doesn't matter. Once you unscrew the HDD housing, they are all simple 2.5" SATA drives, and completely interchangable in any housing style, 1st, 2st or slim gen xbox. -
Delpen is accurate in what he described. Though you all may be misunderstanding his information a bit, which is why i tried to dumb it down a bit. Not using that as an insult...just trying to easily make the information understable for everyone. Blood Initiate, the ranges that magnetism and autoaim are effective at, are not that great a distance. In terms of actual ranges, the usual "3" setting for autoaim, is basically just about 3.75 MC's in length if the character was laying down. Masterchief is usually documented as being a little under 1 world unit. The ranges for autoaim and magnetism use world scale ranges instead of radians. If you play on a high sensativity setting, then autoaim is likely to show up as a visible advantage or disadvantage more so than someone like me, who gains or loses nothing by playing on the lowest setting. well, actually thats not accurate. because of my slow setting, I cannot turn as quick, and therefor usually always fail to react quick enough to other players, or pull off assassinations. But what is true, is that without aim assist of any kind, it is highly unlikely according to multiple sources both professional gaming and industry, that any player with high sensativity levels would even do half as good with aiming or tracking an enemy, as they do WITH it. That is the point Delpen is trying to make here in regards to the subject.
-
We are both talking about different things which is what I gathered. I was actually talking about autoaim in the sense that the reticule is pulled towards the player, but the magnetism that tracks the player with a projectile even when the reticule is not on them, and within the specified range or angle. I got confused again...it;s late for me right now. But I agree, that nothing would be either gained or lost by removing it. Players who pla on a 1 sensativity like me, don't tend to gain anything from it at all sicne our targeting is slow as molasses anyway..lmao Great video by the way. It does a good job of explaining it a bit for those not too familiar... Oh real quick before I edit this yet again... how bad is it in Halo 4? Like I said, i dont usually take time to notice or keep dying real quick. Is the magnetism severly stronger for 4, and the autoaim higher in range than in the past?
-
Actually magnetism is the tag field name, and it relates to the reticule on the HUD. The function you are describing there is actually the "autoaim angle" and "autoaim range". The bullet refraction is called "deviation angle". But most deviations I have seen are either labeled as a 0 "float", or very small. I never really pay attention to that apsect of the weapon finctions though, as I play with keyboard and mouse most of the time on PC. I suck way too much to pay attention..I'm usually just paying attention to the ground I'm eating..lmao Oh yeah, UI is User intrerface. As in a menu selection item.
-
Ok I just have to ask this. Are guys refering to the reticule homing in on close enemies or within a certain distance? if so, that is called "mangetism" and is a core weapon tag function. Whether or not it can be lowered or increased via a script I do not know. I have never seen this done, as the magnetism feature is not a global constraint and globals cannot usually be changed, unless the said global has a chunk or field that is linked to a UI change. The magnetism feature has always been included in the Halo games, and as such usually always is there for future ones. I'm not sure how good or bad removing it would actually be...I'm just trying to clarify what exactly it is, just in case....

@Kevin I can quite easily continue or finish what I start. But as a respected, and one of the oldest members of this forum, I also have to know when to stop and just let things go to keep some kind of peace after a bit of hot headed debating. Needless to say, we both have different views and different forms of sources. neither of us will see eye to eye on the aspects brought up in this thread, so in the interest of other members, that is why I chose to just stop at that last post. It benefits no one to continue a flaming debate that neither of us will truly win, and it serves no greater purpose to the games players. We will just respectively agree to disagree on certain aspects of Halo 4. Irieee I see where you are going with the ranking system. Who knows what might happen come april. Yes a lot of MLG types have been worried and distressed about ranking and the effect on players who like to be matched up by skill ranking. But no one can predict exactly how many players may still be in the population pool. I would like to think that many players of competative greatness will return to the franchise once it's incorporated. But the stickler is...we still don't have any concrete information on exactly what the Rank System entails. Best thing to do on that one, is talk up the system as much as possible, and hope that it isn't too late to help curb the discomfort of the competative players.

Judging from your poor explanation about reading bitmap files..you quite clearly are out of your league here. Leave that stuff to the pros and Tech Gurus. And no, it doesnt take a moddified xbox to gain access to, and decrypt map files. It takes a tag console to PLAY the modded content. You saying people are not complaining about a game whileplaying is purely YOUR opinion..show me actual proof. Proof of the general discontent can be seen everywhere here, and on Waypoint. That is proof that a large number of players are not happy. And why should they be? Everyones view on whether a title is good or not personally, depends on that individual and what he/she expects. It is only after a large number of the same complaints are made, that you or 343i can logically sit and say "Hey, we might have a problem". ODST is co-op and Firefight and has nothing to do with Halo 3 by itself. So I am unsure what you are saying there. All this is aside from the OP. Ifyou care to continue trying to win a pointless internet posting battle go right ahead. Destroyer, I can see the points you are trying to make. It is sad they removed, or for a better term, (Shipped without) the game without staple and popular options that made the previous games so much fun. I just heard that Apri i s when they plan to release the skill system. Sorry but most players, including yourself, that's 6 months too late. Same goes with Grifball. We couldn't even share Grifball maps properly, or any other map for that matter. I'm not sure who exactly is to blame for the whole mess thus far, but one thing is clear. If 343i wants to continue making profitable titles for Halo, they need a change somewhere in the development team or pipeline. Hey...at least we have Crysis 3 and Colonial Marines to look forward to!

Professional gaming was a fad. It was a sad attempt for those with no decernable skill in the Real world, to feel like winners. I eman seriously...could you imagine an economy and culture that praises professional gamers like they are serious contributers to society or the world stage? All MLG encourages is people to laze around and play games...but it's ok...cause if you play really good, you don't need studies or friends or sunlight...can you make a little pocket change in the end. Pocket change is exactly what it is. How much in taxes and costs does on pay to compete in MLG? Room and board aint free, travel expenses are not covered or free. Time away from family and lack of freinds is bad. TV time has got be a joke on this one. I don't recall seeing any commercials with this guy on any major network channel or even now. So what happened to him? The number of actual hardcore gamers to normal standard human, makes his reconition no greater than a child who won a local spelling bee. That's not fame....that's trying desperatly to be accepted and gain fame. Yes, I hate MLG and I hate what they have turned the gaming community into. They have literally pitted us against eachother over competative gaming, and have done nothing more than even further feed the "trash talking" problem that is already way out of hand. I hope they burn for all eternity...

See, I can look smart and quote people too. Does it feel good to be an idiot and actually go on record saying Halo 4 looks and plays better than Reach? Since your sooooo smart and obviously a great judge of raphics processing, can you explain to me how a game 1 engine version higher than Reach, than can have graphics post-processing and shader templates that by far, are worse resolution and texture mip mapping than Halo 3? Graphically halo 4 fails to be even a small leap above Halo 3. You can't defend this, the proof is in the resolution of the individual bitmap files, and a quick comparison of save game films from both games side by side, shows the lack of graphical improvement a title 5 years in the making should have. And let's not talk about lighting.... Gameplay wise, it's the same. You move, you jump, you sprint...wow. Aside from that, every game in the Halo franchise has had basic standard movements that have not changed in much way concerning the base biped movements and global constraints. But, it does feel a lot different than the previous titles in terms of jumping and overall movements. This might be due to a psycological thing, with buttons layouts, but noone can say that for sure. it's either different at core settings, or it's the players...that much is certain. Apples to oranges? Are you a complete moron? Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Halo CEA, and Halo 4 are all playable over Live. I count 6 Halo titles there. Common knowledge? I think you have some very uncommon knowledge. And yes, if Halo is still popular and such a great franchise, then we should still see more Halo games in the top 10. Yes halo has competition, but if the newer halo is such a success, then why is it falling behind? Why do the sales % to population not equal out even at any given point? Explain that please? Conveluted fashion? Please, take a look around at all the Halo themed forums and count how many people are not happy with Halo 4. It's not hard to see that number of complainers, and look at the population, and quite obviously conclude that people are still playing it basically because it is Halo, or becuase they found a limited part of the title to actually enjoy. Unless you can properly counteract this thought with actual numbers or a headcount of your own....don't try to defend against it. There is a reason why I post here, and post what i do. i ACTUALLY TAKE THE TIME to research what i post before I do it. I don't come in whilly nilly and just throw around words to sound smart, or to try to deflect from my own shortcomings in the proof or concept game. Nothing I have said is untrue or unfounded. if there is something, then by all means, be man enough to call it our properly and show actual proof. Using big words and just saying it is wrong for no reaosn is just going to make you look silly. And to counter your other words, I do play it. I have played it up till SR-46 and yet I cannot enjoy it. I don't want anything to be changed to my liking, but I DO want a game that a majority of the community can love and enjoy together...and quite obviously this isn't it. Maybe if you took a little time to get to know who I am, and read soem of my other posts, you would know that I am a supporter of 343i and I do actually defend them for what happened with halo 4. Do or don't...but here is a link to another post I made about it... http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/23934-shedding-some-light-on-the-franchise/ I go into very large detail and back it up with VidOC proof of what I am saying. if you really think that halo 4 is awesome, wll then that is awesome. I don't fault you for what you like. But I will fault you for is ridiculous claims about the technology used, the result of gameplay versus population and the end result of a product. These are things that cannot be described or boasted about without exact proof. Anything else is just opinion. Lastly...what are talking about with "The community certaintly won't miss me"? Did I miss soemthing? Dio you really think I am here because I give a rats *** how the community views me? Please dude, I got better things to do than think about how an internet or Live service product views me. I reserve that for actual people I know and meet in REAL life. Lmao just wow...... But I guess complacent players like you would be missed? Just take what they give you, sit down and shut up, and don't voice a wrong when you see it? Sounds to me like your one of the same idiots in this country that lead to the outright detramental changes and reform that our government have brought on us in the past 4 years. maybe you should just go gaming with Obama and leave us alone over here....

Really? I failed to see any halo title past 1, have the downtime it had. Hell I would take halo 1's horrible (no network model) MM over halo 4's Azure's Short Bus service anyday. And let's not forget that Halo 4 has had more title updates and patches than any other Halo title. It was rushed, sloppy and filled with filler to get our hopes up. Any game that releases and has the developers saying stuff like "We will incorporate that down the line", shows the developer was rushed, or rushed it themselves. Either way, it's bad business. Secondly, how is Halo 4 being 3rd ok? Did you fail to see that 4 different CoD titles are still in the top 20, yet only 2 Halo titles are? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that a 4 -2 loss for Halo. To make matters worse, 3 of those games are over a year old. And 3 of them beat Halo Reach. And I see everyones cry about favorite (Halo 3) isn't even on there. Halo 4 in the eyes of many gamers is a failure. Sales numbers and population do not outweigh how people feel and the voice they have put out there. People hate it, but still try to play it because it's Halo. I hate it, but I still play it because I like the idea of Spartan Ops. but my presence in the population doesn't mean it's a good game simply because I am there. All that aside, I find it laughable that anyone can defend a game that has more patches than a ship full of pirates! It obvious that either 343i bit off more than they could chew, or Microsoft decided to push them to release it on the 360 instead of the next Xbox. Evidence of this can be found in the images and renders we were given beofre gameplay footage was officially released. A lot of the still images we were given are quite obviously and noticably in a much higher resolution and definition than what we actually got in-game. One image still comes to mind....the image of masterchief sitting badass style in the warthog with a glow along side him. The image just bursts out, and is alive with fine detail. yet in-game, that same detail in non-existent. I claim that microsoft changed the date, similar to what they did with bungie back with Halo 1. I think 343i was forced to rewrite the engine and downsample all their assets just to make it work for the 360, and the end result was the turd we got.

MLG has not, and never will be able to claim anything along the lines of "shaping" a franchise. Halo existed long before MLG, and it will continue to do so. All MLG basically did, was setup shop and capitalise on competetion that already existed. MLG has in no way ever contributed directly to any titles success. That is the job of the developers. In a fairy tale world, it is quite easy to assume that because MLG initially endorsed Halo 4, that it somehow boosted pre-order numbers. If that WAS the case, then Halo 4 would have been on top of the sales game, and not CoD. Again, MLG like to exploit people to make a profit...that's what a business does at it's heart. They can preach and cry about how they support nothing but the gamer, and care about video games E-Sport, blah blah blha. They are all full of ****. They just want your money and your time, so in the end you rely on them for competative gameplay. hate to break it to you, but again, competative video game playing starts with YOU! Not some silly *** company.

Get Wineskin oe whinebottler, then use Steam to grab Crysis 2. Nuff said

We have stated our reasons many times over. Perhaps people should learn to use the "search" button before creating a post that is just like another for the millionth time.

TicTac, first off if your gonna make a thread that is trying to point out factual flaws or points, make sure you do your research. Nothing about your post contained anything factual. Inf act, everything you stated was plain out wrong, and very insensitive. Clans were not removed because as you stated, "Noobs and the like whined and complained:. Clans were removed in Halo 3 and Halo in general because the statistical data Bungie collected, stated that only about 25% of the population actively used it. Many people started strong with this feature, but as time went on, clan members had less time to organize and utilize the feature. Having the feature not only took up bandwidth, but server resources that could be better used. This is the fact behind why they were removed. Please refer to the Halo 3 and 2 VidOCS to actually hear them say just this. I'm not sure what your specific beef with Ranking is, but you quite obviously can't enjoy a game, nor define a game as competitive without a rank system. Why? Competition starts with YOUR mindset, not some flashy icon or number next to your name, or the promise of one to increase your silly little E-***** size. A rank system is NOT needed. All a rank system has done to the community is divide between those who are casual players and hardcore. So what if you get paired up with someone who is of less skill? Ranks are not perfect. there are literally thousands of gamers worldwide who would likely be of superior skill, but simply lack the time to invest in the game to even rank up anyway. So all you would be doing with a rank system like Halo 2, is again as you stated like COD..."Catering to people who invest time spent playing". How would someone who is a 50 in terms of skill, ever get to a 50 rank if they cannot play as much as the next guy? Kinda like a double standard there if you know what I mean. Next, why are you so narrow minded that you must always refer to Noobs and whiners as the reason why Halo has lost it's edge? Last time I checked, 343i catered to you supposed "True skilled fans" and removed bloom to satisfy you. And guess what....you still weren't happy. A game is not based on what population the developer wants to cater to, it is based on what formula works overall. Some toes will be stepped on, but you absolutely cannot please ever member of the fan base. And just so you know, playing MLG or whatever, does not dictate if you are a fan or not. I find your implied definition throughout this post, to be not only condescending to many, but just plain out rude. My son has played Halo since age 6 when I first taught him. Reach and 4 are the two titles where he really dug in and got his feet wet. But by your limited view, he is a "noob". So what am I at age 34? An ancient noob? Please....that's just pathetic to callout people with terms like that. All it does is make it look as if your masking some of your own weaknesses or insecurities in hopes to come out looking like a "god". Halo 4 and the playlists are a direct reflection of the overall population of Reach's. Reach gave us every playlist we wanted and we used them...some more than others. because Halo 4 was rushed in some ways, they had to decide to only release and support the MOST popular gametypes. Sorry if those gametypes weren't what you liked, but you alone are not enough to get the numbers up to make them popular. Perhaps you should have invited some you elite MLG OMGIMSOP***INCOOL hardcore peeps to help get the numbers up. Don't try to complain or point the playlists or playstyle to new players or casuals...it just makes you look dumb and sad. Lastly, Halo 4 as a title was a failure. I can point to at least 1,000 different issues that the game has in very long detail (everyone here knows me and knows this). The fact is, yes it was 343's first title, and in another thread I defended them saying Halo 4 was "their" Halo 1. I cannot defend those who come in here and blast away without fact or solid reasoning, but that does not mean you or anyone else has the right to criticize them for it. This is a COMMUNITY FORUM. You have to take all aspects and all types when you belong to something of this magnitude. Similar to how I am letting you off easy with my reply. And yes...this is me being easy on someone. To summize, perhaps you need to go back to Bungie and Waypoint and view all the VidOCS and Commentary Behind the Scenes videos, so you can be a bit mroe informed before you try something like this again.... TL;DR

D-38 Boss, you miss the point. The halo 2 PC game does not require a server to run. What it does require is a single low spec server to host a "list" of all halo 2 PC servers being hosted by everyone else. microsoft nor 343i nor even Bungie ever had to host or run a dedicated server Halo 2. The only difference between halo 1 PC and Halo 2 PC, is that Microsoft decided to host the lists themselves instead of gamespy. it was there way of maintaining a stranglehold on the game. The only reason Halo 1 wasn't shutdown, is because the hosting of lists is property of gamespy. Aside from that dude, tell all of what you said to the people who spend $120+ a month renting gameservers to host matches for people. Tell them what man, "oh sorry you wasted the money a couple days ago...but half the rental fee is wasted"?!? Halo stems from PC...it's in it's roots. Without Halo on PC we would not have anything near what we have now. halo 2 PC is more than a game, it is a legacy and a reminder of where the franchise came from. Erasing it does nothing but hurt the community. Of coarse it's a community that microsoft cares nothing about...but how do you think that community is going to respond? Do you think they will be lining up next week to praise the ******** or buy future products? No they won't. Furthermore, I have belonged to, and still belong to many communities that started and revolve around nothing but Halo 2. But of coarse as you and many others suggest...we should just pack up and move on and pretend nothing ever mattered or was "real"? The ignorance is astounding......

Help save the Halo 2 PC community!!! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CN8GBLL

Ok guys, we have little time to get this done. I have created a survey for us gamers to use to voice our opposition against Halo 2 PC beign shutdown. Same survey as the previous post I made, but we need this to have as much view and publicity as possible! Help me save halo 2 PC and together we can enjoy more of the best multiplayer ever built for more fun years to come! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CN8GBLL
-
Ok guys, short and sweet. This is a quick survey where gamers can voice their choice to save the halo 2 PC servers or not. Standard survey rules apply, and hopefully if we can reach enough folks who take it, I might be able to properly present this to both 343i and microsoft. So c'mon guys! help me save Halo 2 PC and allow future pc gamers to have the chance to expereince the greatest multiplayer ever built!!! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CN8GBLL

To be honest, a site that is a fan forum for 343i doesn't even deserve to have a memories thread after this news was passed on. Why would I want to post how much it meant, or much potential it still had here, when it is a homage to the very people who quite obviously don't understand gamers...
-
I am not amused. Screw your ****ty console Microsoft, and screw 343i for even hinting that they support killing off the last true PC Halo title!
