Riseing, your argument is completely without any merit. Simply because you cannot successfully combat people who you claim are "newer" to the franchise, just simply shows that you cannot and could not completely adapt to the new gameplay, nor successfully outwit or properly pay attention to players loadouts. The reason they give you access to multiple loadouts, is sot that you can choose counter-active measures against players who give you a big challenge in-game. By not utilizing a proper loadout, you fail to completely compensate for any issues you may face in battle. As for the PP, it does not stun long. They changed the vehicle reaction time to stunning to be quite a bit less than in previous Halo's. The reason behind this was likely the fact that players could spawn with one, and they saw the PP spam fest coming ahead of time. Also, charging the PP takes a slight bit longer, and also drains the energy of the weapon as you hold the trigger down. So in reality, the changes negated anyone from charging one, and just sitting there waiting to spam people with it. Again, a moot and not very thought out response on that one my friend. For that matter...when and where are these "power weapons" that are handed out like candy? Last time I played....people were fighting tooth and nail over the spawn point of the power weapons on the map by default. Also, where do you get off thinking that just because you play Halo for more time than someone else, that it should equate to you being better? Time put in, does not make you better than the next person in anything that you do. It is all about how you effectively apply the expereince going forward. Not everyone can effectively apply what they learn, or retain that knowledge. It is human nature, and it works against us at multiple times. As for Halo 4 not having Halo roots, again, Halo means different things to everyone. Yes it will not please all people, but you cannot say that a game has no "Halo roots". It is Halo in the end, and it was made in the same fashion as the others. Newer features or tweaks does not make something not a part of the original expereince, it is YOU who sees it as such, and your opinion cannot be counted as fact nor proof that Halo 4 has failed. If you want to prove that Halo 4 is just bad or wrong in any aspect, you need to show data or examples that clearly dictate the point you are trying to make. For example, look at my posts about Halo 4. I can give and cite a myriad of comparison data and proof to show why I feel the way I do, and prove where they took 5 steps back with the title. Again people...unless you can contribute something meaningfull to threads like this, stay the hell out and keep it shorter than it becomes. Spamming and posting nonsense makes it harder to read thru these threads and find relevance.

Jan, how does this even apply or help with the thread. if you can't post any information or help the OP at all understand what is happenening, then stay out of it. As for proof...you can google tons of XEX hacks for aimbots, as well as a few standalone applications for tweaking map files. I would do the leg work for you...but that wouldn't teach you anything...you know..having others do your work for you. As for my skill, I don't play matchmaking. I dont care for it, and never will. I much prefer fun customs and campaign.

Looking For Game Dev Team For PC/Xbox 360 Indie Game!
Twinreaper replied to Slenderman's topic in General Discussion
C++, and C# are not scripting languages...they are frameworks (base code language). Scripting would be LUA, XML and Unicode. Right now, LUA is the most widely used scripting language. Additionally, if your going to make a complete new game or tweaked or modified source base, you cannot use Cryengine, as the absolute source requires a licence...which is pretty steep atm. Unreal is ok, but for graphics, particle effects and animation, you want to stick with Cryengine.- 30 replies

The entire problem stems from their switch to the newer Azure Cloud Sevrer models. When Bungie had control over things, they kinda dictated to Microsoft what was needed, and made sure they released a Beta to help support and to work bugs out of, said servers and netcode. Halo 4 was a huge switch to Cloud Server based OS, and the fact that they did not release a worldwide public Beta, did not help them at all to identify problems or hic-ups early on. Now that the masses have flooded the MM, they are stuck trying to resolve problems that would have likely took 2-3 months to fix up perfectly after a beta. But now with people gaming it changes the way they need to fix it, and how they go about it. it is going to be a long bumpy ride my friends...

Always haters when it comes to CoD. Aside from pointless garbage, can anyone fully explain how it does not deserve the amount of money it makes? All I see is a game that gives it fans what it wants...

OMG Dog is back! Woooot! and he posted in my thread. Now if I could just Twam to do it for once..... But yeah, thanks for the thumbs up guys. I hope a few of the naughty guys around here will get their acts together, but honestly...I'm not hoping or holding out for much, as Mystie said. But if someone like me goes on without at least trying, then in the end I couldn't very well rise the biggest stinkest about it. I find it better to be proactive than passive......

Ok fellas, we gotta have a little chat. So sit down put on some coffee and lend me an ear...this is gonna be a long one..... Where to start.... ok. So we have now been given Halo 4, and the community seems to be very divided on how good it was, and where it needs to go beyond into Halo 5 & 6. I have read many great threads, and many poorly constructed ones, but the general theme remains the same. Those who did not like it are getting the living crap kicked out of them by members here. Now, I do not expect a hate or complaint thread to go over very well here, especially conscidering this is a "Community Fan Forum" and being a hater is obviously the complete opposite of being a fan. With that being said, a fan does not nessessarily have to like everything about or even one aspect of something to be a fan. There are plenty of sports fans who hate their team, but come back to watch every season. But that is not the point here, our behavior is. Being a fan forum as it is, we have to be prepared to accept the bad that comes with it. Even if these said bad things or comments contradict your own feelings about a particular subject. Every member here has a right to be heard and voice their opinion without prejudice and ridicule. But honestly, I am appauled as of late, with some of the ignorant and unexplainable behavior I have seen. This of coarse is on both sides. So first to you 343i lovers out there.....enough! We get it. You like the game and will post a wealth of non-sense; the same garbage over and over again that supposedly supports why the game is good, without one single detailed aspect of a post. Get your head out of your and 343i's butt and leave the people who did not like it alone. You going into threads and purposely bashing or flaming the OP or other contributing members is not going to solve anything, nor make YOU look good in that thread. I understand the intention is there, to help or make someone understand something from a different perspective, but it doesn't come across that way in the end. It ends up looking like your looking to start a fight, or just keep going trying to prove your right. It isn't about who is right, it is about the perspective that another player has about the product they received. And for better or worse, they are entitled to that perspective. And for you 343i/Halo 4 haters......stop! Raging back at people who do not agree with your vantage point does nothing but continue the circle of hate. Calling the company names, or bashing members who like it does not help your position. I understand some or most of you are new to the site, and gettign bashed or called names out of the gate is uncalled for and hurtfull. But continuing the circle of hate and ranting does nothing but make your entrance into the site more painfull, and will likely force you to leave, or worse...get you banned. You have every right to post up your opinions, but please do it with care and respect. And if someone is giving you a hard time, or unessessary grief, report them to a mod. it is much better than the alternative. And btw, to date, nothing you haters have posted is anything near acceptable. I could puke after reading some of those supposed "prrof it is bad" examples or statements. Take a tip from my posts will yah...POST DATA OR DETAILED EXAMPLES TO EXPLAIN YOUR POSITION ON IT. For that matter, quit rehashing statements I already made, trying to make yourselves look good...IT ISN'T WORKING! Look folks, we don't members to feel harassed or even lose members. by acting the way you all are in these threads, it makes me ashamed to even be a member here along side you. Our goal here is to make this a fun, but peacefully arguable forum with all due respect to the franchise that brought us together. Noone will ever see eye to eye on Halo 4, and because of this, it is important to just acceptit and move on. Leave people be, and try not to go overboard with responses, and try not to go into threads where your response is not helpfull. Everyone reading this can conscider this not only a friendly piece of advice, but also a warning. This is the only time I will be civil or peacefull in my attempt to quell the rift that has been opened. I will not hesitate to tear you apart or humiliate you if that is what it takes to get YOU to understand or behave accordingly. Those of you who know me...know I mean business! With that being said, let's all take another note while we are at it. Posting. If you have something positive or negative to say, POST IT WITH RELEVANT AND ACTUAL EXAMPLES OR DATA!!!! I am tired of seeing everyones posts with simple statements, and nothing to back it up. Posting a statement like "It's good because it's awesome", is not only simply a statement, but it's a statement with no substance, and without substance, how is someone else reading it supposed to see why you feel a certain way? They can't! Which is a big part of this whole debackle! So my final piece of advise...no your ****, and post thought out material, not quick messy crap. You may now all resume your regualr scheduled lives, and contunue browsing the forums. Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow! - Twinreaper :3 TL;DR (Yeah, I can do that)

I'm gonna chime in here. If your going to list tiems to defend a title and go on to say how good it is, you need to be specific. Posting things like "The gameplay is good"...please. State specifically what about the gameplay is good, or makes it good for you. Seriously, I'm tired of hearing people ***** and moan about us guys who did not like it. Like us hating it gives everyone else a free pass to shun or kick us to the curb from these forums.

Smoke, I happen to be currently moving all my Halo work over to the Cryengine. As of right now, I have a rigged ODST, Cortana and a few other misc items that I need to port over. If your interested and willing to colab with some people, I think we might have a good chance of getting some solid Halo style gameplay and action into Cryengine.

This....is why Bungie always deployed a public Beta. Real World Live connection and profile syncing cannot be tested properly by In-House testing and nothing but LAN setups on tours....

From that post alone, you are younger than I am, but you still fail to see the point with this. You cannot compare gimicky games like Minecraft to Halo. Minecraft was a cheaply made, and intended simply cheap game to amuse people for hours by building even crappier things. Halo however is a game based on the First Person perspective of a human super soldier trying to prevent the extinction of the human race...clearly, graphics play as big a part in a game like, that just as much as the story does. Second, graphics from the days of Coleco, Atari, Sega Mastery etc...were the best they had at the time. If the developers had streaming 3d rendering...do you really think Pong or Donkey Kong would have kept the same graphical look? The point is, that after 4 long years, the fanbase was treated to a game, that in every engine and gameplay aspect, fails to compare or even attempt to level itself with the quality we got from Bungie, with a shorter time period. When we hear things like, "343i got ex-Bungie employees", one must also ask themselves..... "Ex-Employee? Did they get fired? layed off? Or willingly move? Were these said employees really any good at their job?" From the wuality we got, I would say that most of these ex-employees were willing let go, or allowed to leave since their talent or quality of work clearly wasn't up to Bungie's par.

As much as it kills me to actually have to agree with KillerDude on this one....I agree. In fact, I think I was the first one to complain about it, albeit I had valid carefully laid out very detailed complaints that can't really be argued. But aside from that, re-read what he said. If you actually go into the various other Halo communities like Halomaps, Se7enSins, Modacity, etc....you will actually find that a much larger piece of the community has already spoken out against Halo 4, far more than you see the praise. And we aren't talking newbie players either, we are talking about people whom have played the game for over a decade, and have only decided to speak up now, because THIS IS the Halo that made them complain...period. I mean look, of coarse people are gonna like it, and people are gonna hate it. No I don't agree with the complaints as a whole that people have made, since half of them seem to be nonsense, ass-pulled ones with no real comparison or thought behind them, but things that KillerDude has pointed out, and I'm sure he could finely detail them, have a lot of truth behind them,. This is a Halo forum...love it or hate it, you have to accept both halves of the coin when dealing with a community, not just picking one side that suits you and running with it. I don't blame people for liking it, everyone finds something about it they like and they do just that. But what I don't like, is dismissive people that refuse to see things from a different perspective and just post trash responses instead of understanding... you know who you people are on that one...and I am not amused!

There in lies the kicker Johnnie. From what i have been able to gather for some odd reason, some of the engine is based in or around C++ while a bulk of it seems to be straight C#. Now from my experience migrating projects between the two bases, C++ syntaxes are way too...well how to say...primitive to be properly onverted over to C# and play nice with the rest of the framework. Which does bring an interesting question to light. If they successfully integrated both C++ and C# elements to some degree with negligable results, it seems to me that converting the source project files over to C# to support a more up to date framework library would be a snap. I wonder exactly how much and what parts of the resource library were coded in C++ anyway.....hmmmmmmmm

Yeah, then get up close to everything it all washes out. Like I said, everything looks great from far away. Even when you open the image up to full size, the cliffs look washed out, the detail maps are seriously lacking, and to be honest, the lighting is not that good. Many people don't realize it, but runninglighting is not just the rasterizing and photon casting from the sun origin. Most of the ambient lighting used I found to be stemming from the shaders. Shaders have a section inside certain ones, that include emissive power setting. most of the time you all think they just lit everything awesome..when really it justs properly used values in the shader tag. The lighting system itself kinda sucks and lacks. Seriously folks, open the image and look at the grass decorators they used. it looks like complete crap, and looks like a poorly made made cookie cutter MS PAINT JOB. Next, look at the tires. The warthogs are not even that far away, yet where is the detail. They look like grey smudged circles. Does everyone here need glasses? No, I think everyone just bought into the hype a little too much and does not want to come to grips with the reality, that Halo 4 is a massive letdown.

1. Your a complete an utter moron if you seriously think the graphics are superior to Reach and Halo 3. The LOD of all the textures and the lack of obviously properly generated mipmap ranges is atrocious! Do you know anything at all about how the graphical post processes work for the Blam! engine. I'm almost ashamed for them in this respect. The only saving grace is the poly count of the models used. 2. The player movements do feel clunky. The physics constraints they used are ver lacking compared to how fluid it felt with Reach and 3. Since I cannot verify what Havok version they used, or if they even used Havok at all, I cannot tell you where exactly they screwed it up. 8. I feel as if the Flood model being used it not only very poor, but the way they implimented the Flood variant goes against everything that the infection mode we used to create ourselves, goes against. Floof were never meant to use abilities nor jump higher etc... Most of the fun was having to gang up in swarms to take down other players. With this variant, it becomes mostly luck to even get to someone or kill them. And forget trying to hide when the Flood can use Promethian Vision. It is easily my most hated gametype now... 9 and 12 are simply personal preference. You cannot call them silly or stupid for not liking certain aspects of those items. How can you help him? Seriously Real Talk? You have been a member here for some time now. You should know very well how to help him. Why not invite him to a few matches in customs or campaign and show him how to look at things from a different perspective. Just because he has complaints, does not mean he is not willing to try out a new way of seeing things, or trying to play in a new way. Seriously...do I have to do everyones leg work around here? That being said, yes, not everyone is going to be happy and try to "get" help, but we owe it to our fellow community members to at least try, and not just automatically be dismissive of them.
-
I like how dismissive you all are on his comments. Clearly he has valid issues, as many of them I was the first to post about. Instead of flaming him or antagonizing the situation, why don't you try to help him instead. I'm getting a little tired of the hit and run flaming of guys like this. This is a great community with great people. We won't keep or entice members to stay if this is how we are going to handle people who have valid complaints with the game. Either post constructive well thought out challenges to the claims, or leave. We don't need flame wars here.

Sykowolf, you of all people should know very well, that I can now pull tag data and prove, that the shader system and textures are no betetr than reach, and in some aspects far less than Reach. My ability is greater than 99% of the whole Halo community, not just this one. My issues are strictly researched and thought-out before I post a quarrel with it. My point was trying to make you guys back off people who don't like it. Yes it was a harsh and straight forward approach...but that is what I am known for, and loved for. If it pleases everyone I will ask nice. Please do not clog up threads about people venting for their disappointment. It does not help, and only proves further how someone cannot can not come into a nice forum like this, and just vent and have a load taken off their shoulders. We are a community first and foremost....I expect better out of all of you.

I'm gonna stop all you trolls right here. I posted this up elsewhere, but as I can see, another fellow gamer needs some help defending himself against you morons. You should all read this... Lets get one thing straight before this gets wildly out of hand, this is a thread from one of the many members who was not satisfied with the game, period. It is his opinion based on his personal taste and playthrough. Who the hell do any of you think you are to stroll into a thread like this, and try to force your own agenda or view on him? Posting as if you have some sort of psuedo otherwordly knowledge about human behavior and him in general, that you can make the kind of posts you did? I hated it as well. I listed my quarrels, and 99% of this community cannot properly defend the game against my issues because it lacks the proper understanding in terms of development to do so. A game is no different than a car. You take it for a test drive, and at the end you either like it, or you don't. No amount of driving time is gonna make you like that ugly little Gremlin, and the same goes for Halo 4. No matter how many times you play it, you will either like or you won't. People need a place to vent about their disappointment, and this IS a forum afterall. This should be a place that people who dislike the game, can come and share that with others without having to be bombarded by fanboy dicks who just want to get their half a cent in. You come into a thread like this knowing the OP does not like the game, yet you come in and post, then get butt hurt about what gets posted back? If you go looking for trouble you will find it. You guys really need to let people go and cut them a little slack. They have every right to not like, or be dissapointed by the game. If any of you really wanted to help, you would either... a.) Not post anything in here. b.) Post relative tips on how to enjoy the game instead of posting "give it a chance", or "It's only been one day!" or c.) Invite them to play with someone who likes it, to see a different perspective. Wow, I guess I just did all the work for you...good job team!

Congrats to Slenderman for being the big 1st place winner of the Casmpstravaganza! Congrats bro, you earned it!!!!!

Yes my brethren you are not alone. I play Legacy Inverted on 1 sensitivity and I too feel the pain of the vehicle controls. I can never again fly a banshee. Unfortunately they did not include a way to adjust vehicle controls...which is odd since this is the first game in the series that gives a vehicle a set of default assigned controls.

Thats my job mate. to bring clarity and butt hurt to those who oppose me. Sick them my minions! Mwahahahahaaaaa

You don't understand. I don't play matchmaking, I play halo purely for custom fun and campaign only. This is the only time in my long long history with Halo that I have ever been disappointed with the campaign or game overall. I doubt time will afford me a different view, but I am trying. I'm not saying I am done with it, I am just simply stating my first impression of playing it for a few hours. So please, commenting with a reply like "just enjoy it" or "give it a chance" are really irrelevant. If I do not enjoy it, it is just that. Nothing can change it, and every Halo game is not for everyone. Look how many people hated Reach, and yet I seem to be getting more hate and spam about my feelings with 4, than anyone else did with Reach.
