Keep in mind that alot of people (including me) can't 'legally' play the game and just got a APK file. Ergo, the servers aren't ready for the load it's serving atm.

  3. Veteran implies one who "WAS" an active serviceman. In this instance, one who is a veteran "WAS" a Halo player, but is no longer. Anyway, get off your high 'I have been playing since H1" horse. You nor no one else has any right to say who is a long term player or at what stage/title you become one. There are plenty of people who have played more Halo from Reach - Guardians, than I have from 1-4, and I'm 38! As for the skulls, they have been there since Halo 2. Thought you were a "veteran"? Skulls in Halo 2 were not like Halo 3, where in Halo 2 you actually had to do the leg work to activate them each time you wanted to play with them, not the silly new way of toggling them once you got them. Skulls in 2 compared to the rest, are like what ODST Firefight are to the rest. The original and best. To date there is no greater challenge than collecting skulls inside Halo 2.
  4. In that case, here is the final edited one without white pixels creating a mess of an emot...

  6. For the matter at hand, no one ever came forward in the amount of complaints that we see in Halo 5. I cant recall ANY public outcry as to the marketing of Halo CE - Reach, to the point at which players were completely baffled as to what they were playing or how the events were taking place. Halo 5 however tried to dramatically play up tensions, depict events between Chief and Locke that NEVER happened, and because of the poor story arc and writing, they had to rely on marketing and half arsed secondary content to try to give substance to the blatently forced characters within it. The argument can be won on both sides concerning marketing, but the fact that remains, is that Halo 5 was purposely marketex to try to draw back gamers, even at the expense of flat out lies, and the "DLC" gimmicks that are just fodder filler. As an afterthought as well, since you love so much to try to be right with absolutely everything, including twisting or interpreting things a different way just to try to be, please remember also that marketing is completely SUBJECTIVE, and just because you, or another person found no relevance with a marketing object, does not meant that someone else did not. Sorry for the edit again, but I also wanted to address the main concern and the overlooked aspect that is the root of all the problems here. Marketing is NOT the act of promoting or creating spots to showcase the EXACT product. Marketing is designed to engage, and hype up a product far beyond the level or value or interest that the product actually has. Just like the campaign marketing and images that we all see with games, it is NOT the fault of the marketing company or developers that you interpret what you see the way you do. For instance, the image that floated around of Chief with the world crumbled around him, and Locke standing over top of him. The internet went wild with speculation and nearly EVERYONE drew the conclusion that some event in Halo 5 would cause exactly what they saw in the image. The reality is, that image in my perspective, was simply a metaphor stating that Chief's whole world was crumbling around him, and Locke was the "truth" or "rock" that Chief needed to regain control. Similar to another example here, Sensei Slicer knives on tv. They market it as, "Single bevel, sharpest blade possible!" "Single bevel makes the knife stronger", etc.... Truth be told, the bevel does NOT make a knife sharper, nor does the angle in which it is crafted make the knife more durable or give it a higher Rockwell Hardness scale. I work with knives, I'm a chef....I know how they work. Unfortunately, it is marketed way beyond what it is and does, and marketed directly to people who don't own actual professional cutlery. My $275 Miyabi is hand hammered, sharpened and can outlast ANY knife including a Global, Shun or Wusthof. Hell I have a $45 Cangshan that is stronger, edges hold up better and is easier to maintain than the ASOTV knife. The point is, marketing is done to draw you in, and give an interest level beyond what the product has, and has no liability to the product because it's up to you to research, decide the products value, and interpret it however you want. Is any video game marketing ever really 100%, or even 50% accurate to what you get, no. Do they protect themselves by sticking disclaimers everywhere, regardless as to whether or not your intelligent enough to look for them or read them? Yes. Is marketing something solely to sell product and lie to the consumer bad moral practice? Yes. Marketing is just that, and NEVER should simple images or flashy gimmicks be your "you sold me" or "take my money" selling point. Arm yourself with knowledge, be skeptical and above all, do NOT believe simple hype, no matter the source.
  7. EXCEPT, that obviously you have no idea what ILB was or who commissioned it. Bungie had NOTHING to do with ILB and it was created by a 3rd party and was commissioned directly by MGS. So no, ILB was not part of Bungie's Halo 2 marketing, nor did Bungie provide any content or time towards it. As for IRIS, it a similar marketing ploy to ILB, except it had direct relevance, considering it revolved around Forerunner Artifacts on Earth, at which time no one knew there was any on Earth. Yes we knew Earth was/had something to do with The Ark, but it wasn't revealed exactly what. Hence the relevance of IRIS. The point is, at no point did they show Halo 3 gameplay or characters directly from Halo 3 participating in events that were not in Halo 2 or Halo 3. As to which, Halo 4 and 5 did a lot of this, only to have NONE of it in the actual game. The only blunder on that front was the Halo 2 E3 reveal...but we all know about that by now. Not only was the story for Halo 5 the biggest turd in existence, but the entire Chief vs Locke was so misconstrued and overhyped, when in actuality, the entire grudge/fight story of it all had NONE of the impact or hype.
  8. EXCEPT for the fact that providing yet ANOTHER platform for developers to have to provide product for is stretching and taxing the industry already. Couple that with the fact that NO CONSOLE FROM THIS GENERATION has yet to have even a 1/8th of it's actual production capability utilized due to the inherent nature of software > hardware development. From a hardware/software standpoint within the industry, it takes a full 7 years or slightly less, for software to catch up and harness the theorized potential of hardware to a maximum level of performance. This is less about a money grab, and more about making a product that potentially has a larger lifespan than the Xbox 360. You need to factor in the form specifics of the design and the hardware that was brought to market with the Xbox One. The components were based on designed and implementations from years ranging 2009-2013. At that time, chipset manufacturers did not support the type of code enhancements that are available now similar to what we are seeing with GPU's utilizing Mantle, and DX12. I would expect that this new Xbox console will be more than just a simple updated chipset, but also have the underlying ability to have it's components swapped, or have a great range of software/firmware updates to further maximize the hardware far beyond what we would normally see in an EOL cycle. All of that being said, there is never going to be a close enough gap between consoles and PC's, in which consoles become easier and afford such a span in quality, that Microsoft's vision of a gaming-less PC future can be achieved. Microsoft itself for the past 2 decades has constantly contradicted itself, and plainly admitted without actually saying it, that it wants all gaming to be on it's console hardware.
  9. If he had a HUD and the weapon appeared on his screen as it did in Reach when handling it in 1st person, then the weapon still has it's base tags and a present animation tag block in the biped dependencies. IF his screen was blank and it was unable to be used, then it is only the model that is present in the game and for some reason spawned. It is possible that something on the update side unblocked the weapon and it was able to be spawned in it's present unusable state. Neat find none the less.
  10. ANYONE who thinks the marketing, execution and actual product that released was perfectly fine for Halo 4/5/MMC....they seriously have no idea or grasp as to the amount f marketing that actually went into it, nor did they really pay attention to it. What Espada is saying, is that 343 has a REAL WORLD FACTUAL TRACK RECORD of releasing games that in no way bare any resemblance to the marketing campaign, the stated on camera description of the game, or the amount of actual real content provided within it. His speculation of what will happen with Halo 6 is justified by the FACTS that are clearly in front of everyone and very well documented on every media outlet over the internet. For what it's worth I'm not saying Bungie was any better. But at least they learned from Halo 2 and since then, Halo 2 is the ONLY title that didn't live up to what promised, and was marketed accordingly.
  11. SUPERNATURAL!!! The greatest show ever created, in my opinion anyway. But seriously, Supernatural could be a fantastic adapted game using either a 3rd person "Silent Hill" or "Resident Evil" style camera view, or it could be one hell of a "Doom" type fps. Given the amount of content, it could be a massive expansive game.
  12. MCC is riddled with compatibility issues and general engine bugs in general due to the unique and utterly ridiculous way Halo 1 - 3 was designed to work. Unfortunately due to the insane amount of engine side bugs coupled with running on an architecture that doesn't support the original compiled code for the games, the support is all but stopped. So yeah, there is really no activity or support bug-fix cycle at all at this point and both 343 and Microsoft are moving forward. MCC for 343, is what halo 2 was for Bungie. Forget it happened and move on lol
  13. Unfortunately you will find yourself out of luck. As with most console developers/companies, 3rd party hardware is NOT directly supported and support is relied upon entirely by the hardware manufacturer. Seeing as how this is likely a non-sanctioned and undisclosed modified controller (M$ hates mods of any kind to it's hardware) you will need to seek support from where you bought it. While I do understand that in life certain things happen and persons with a disability should be given consideration and help to continue doing what they love, the cold harsh reality is that the development, manufacturing and sale of specific disability minded products is a loss/loss especially for console makers. Just to show I am NOT being biased or unsympathetic, my fiance suffered a stroke 4 years ago and hos no mobility with her right side, which makes her only available game playing either a specialized mouse/kb setup or a Nintendo Wii. I understand all too well the hardships....

  16. I'd like to see the actual Microsoft shipping records to support this "$400 Million at launch day" number. Average price of H5 is $29.99 at wholesale cost direct from Microsoft to all it's selling outlets worldwide. If it did indeed gross, which means costs and taxes were not factored in, that means that an average of 6,667,777 units had to be sold to reach a gross of $400 Million. Yes it's not an exact science, but not enough LE or "other" editions of the game would sell in the needed quantities to really give this logical look at the financials any big difference. I have to recheck my official old sources, but the development/marketing budget was around $250 M. Taking into account the $250 Million, it's broken down as follows... 50m - 60m : Development: This covers salaries for the 3+ year development cycle of just that title. 200m - 210m: Marketing: This covers all the 3+ years of marketing for the title and covers production costs of game discs, inserts, promos, etc. Microsoft themselves would need to sell about 8 million copies worldwide to outlets in order to break even. I can assure you that Halo 5 alone DID NOT see anywhere near a 5 million unit shipping order overall even by today for the game. Which means that in the end, Halo 5 was overpriced, underdeveloped, and it failed to meet the objective that ANY game being released is tasked with. It didn't sell well and it didn't keep a steady population. I get what you are saying Director, but also need I remind you that if NO ONE speaks up and shouts, Microsoft will never hear or learn anything. I'd rather be the guy at the end of the day, shouting the logic and truth to them, then some whiny intellectually challenged child in the corner doing absolutely nothing about it.
  17. Halo 2 wasn't a flop. It sustained multiplayer fanbase higher and longer than any of 343's standalone games. it was also a game that has incredible hard replay value as well as modding support. It spawned a ton of gametypes that have become standard in current Halo games, such as Zombies for one. You can't quite compare the titles so easily as you would expect. You can however compare the ingenuity and features they present and look at it's trending multiplayer base. Halo 2 had tons of competition and still retained the crown of FPS games. Halo 4 is all but forgotten and plagued with game killing bugs, and Halo 5 made the stakes much worse for the franchise. I mean look, at the same time you also have to compare the story. Does 343 have a tougher time continuing the story Bungie started? Oh hell yes. Bungie had a whole universe to expand on and an enemy base structure that was easily written and expanded upon. Now that the main driving force and enemy of a 5 title franchise has been all but erased, it is logical to see how painful and hard it is for a new developer to step in and expand the universe further and try to match Bungie's vision and execution. I'm not giving 343 a pass on this, far from it. As they so love to claim "We are made from ex-Bungie members" and "We love Halo as much as the players", the facts are real and so is the reality. 343 is failing and they can't produce the quality or near quality games they hyped themselves capable of.
  18. It's like I crapped out a baby and viola..... RSR!!! I thought I was always going to be alone in my utter disdain for 343 Industries and the complete mishandling of the franchise. I couldn't have worded it any better at all. In regards to Halo Wars, the continued development of that spin-off series most certaintly CANNOT be trusted at all. Halo Wars firstly was a game that Bungie was against, and because of this, all the content had to be hand created from scratch. You read that right, Ensemble had to recreate all Halo assets themselves. Because of the factors that presented the team with such hurdles, it actually gave birth to the type of creative fury and determination that rivaled Bungie. Flash forward to now, and we have a totally overhyped, underpowered, egotistical and overrated band of "Halo Know-it-alls" spearheading the franchise. They refuse to listen, refuse to take criticism and refuse to take blame for issues that arise. How can anyone trust anything associated with M$? And to clarify HALO Reach was superior to Halo 3 and still remains superior to 4 & 5 in every way. I shouted from day one that Reach was a fantastic game. Little does everyone forget, 343 co-developed Reach with Bungie as part of the transition. Bungie left most of the creative direction up to 343, but retained final word in the outcome of the game. So please stop all this "Bungie, did Reach and it sucked" banter. Reach was more 343 and MGS than it actually was Bungie. So by my count, the 343 Halo mishandling comes to... 1. Halo Reach 2. Halo MCC 3. Halo 4 4. Halo 5 4 titles in and they cant produce the quality or sustainablility that Bungie achieved as novices just a mere 2 titles in. Bungie developed for the fans. They worked had so we could enjoy the franchise we fell in love with with CE. All 343 has done is turned the franchise upside down and attached a huge milking machine to it. They care little about continuity, quality or gaming as a whole.
  19. My only problem with this, is the lack of actual "mechanics" so far. Quick Time Events, Add Spawns and Escorting are not mechanics, they are scripts added onto core mechanics to expand and enhance said mechanics. Spawning in general, or the act of spawning/respawning "aka placing an object" is the mechanic sysyem. I would suggest that this thread title be renamed or rediscribed to clarify the issues for the sake of correctness involving the issues you have. Quick Time events are simple cinematic mechanics at it's core, where a script places the camera at a first person perspective, instead of a third person, and adds a trigger "script", to start and end actions. Again, the actual Cinematic Mechanic is not to blame, but the way and extent to which it is used. For example, "Game Mechanic Expansion and Usage Issues" would be a much clearer and effective title.
  20. Here is the whole big problem for specs like this. To an average person with no real world computer science or engineering experience, specs and speculation like this go interpreted and understood completely wrong. Allow me to explain... Based on Teraflops the Xbox One runs at 1.32 according to Polygon, the Scorpio is rumored to run at roughly 6 Teraflops. Compared to Sony's PlayStation Neo running at an estimated 4.14. What Polygon has deliberately failed to mention, is that the Xbox One according to Microsoft runs at a "theoretical" peak of 1.31 Tera-flops. Meaning that the "1.31" is the estimated maximum potential of the graphics architecture, not the actual usage. In comparisons you can actual show, saying the Xbox One can out perform a Titan Z, is just wrong. Titans run at about 0.326 Tera-flops in actual. The average gaming console actually uses anywhere from 0.1-0.2 actual Gigaflops for games developed and released within the last 3 years. Far slower than any desktop pc card from the last 3 years. Also Tera-flops mean nothing since gaming requires very little floating memory points for graphics processing. The real power required for gaming intensive items comes from Raster Operators and Texture Units. Xbox One boasts the following... ROP's: 16 Texture Units: 48 Shader Cores: 768 In terms of performance, this is about 10% greater than a GeForce GTX 750 Ti, a card that was released 1 year prior to the Xbox and in design for 3 years prior to Xbox design. needless to say, the graphics power is far less than anything in mid range PC land. So what you need to really remember is, is that unless they somehow strike a deal to redesign the consoles to ACTUALLY be computers with removable graphics cards and processors, nothing will ever catch up or surpass a PC. That's not being just PC MASTA RACE 4 EVER, that's a statistical real world fact. Also keep in mind, that the whole 6 Tera spec, is simply a base "theoretical" number they throw out based on math to show an estimated maximum potential, not the actual real world stable number. Also real quick before I go, I forgot to mention the atrocious energy wasting of the new home consoles. Sony is bad, but Xbox One is by far the most energy inefficient device in any home on any point on the face of the Earth. Fact!
  21. I didn't even notice SJ liked my post. Only I could summon him to come back lmao
  22. I don't get very emotional or nostalgic very often as many can attest. But after realizing earlier this week that I was about to turn 5 on the forums, I was struck with instant feeling of the latter described. Time really does fly when you have such an awesome and at times, extremely frustrating community behind you. Throughout my tenure I have made a lot of friends and an equal amount of enemies. I was privileged enough to bear witness to what we were and what strived to be, to ultimately what we have become. As bumpy as the road has been there is no other community that has captured my heart and soul quite like this one. The last "scene" that has had such an impact on me, was my 10 year stint with legendary Halo clan CRHalo/CñR. Here I found a home with a family that has helped me through toigh times, and sadly watched as the greats and unsung heroes left, either forcefully or on their own terms. I would give a shoutout to all of those that I really do consider family and my closest friends, but it just doesn't seem right to the rest of the fantastic community and severly underminds the value I place on them. So from me to all of you, THANK YOU! You have given me a place to call home, a place I can feel safe and most important, you have given me a second family that always has my back and never let's me be anything but myself. Here is to another 5 years!!!!!
