  1. Showing my age here, but Pong in the big old clunky electronic box was the fist actual "video game" I played. After that, it was Frogger.
  2. Personally I always thought they should have given the user the ability to upload the vids to a central section of waypoint or even possibly the "cloud" storage section, and allow us to render the films with ease on our own pc's. The greatest thing bungie gave us was rendering of the theatre items, and providing us a method to turn them into streamable videos. Since 343i had stated previously they were not going to nor attempting to aquire the proprietary rights Bungie made on the rendering, I would not be suprised if they had something like this planned. Very little to nothing was mentioned about theatre mode, and probably for good reason. The proverbial "Ace up their sleeve" comes to mind. Excellent topic creation their my friend. I can't wait to hear and see more about this subject.
  3. I dont get it. According to the statistic data Bungie released back in April, Reach had some pretty impressive stats in 2 years compared to Halo 3's 4 year mark. I forget exactly where the link is on B-net, but they released it in the form of a wallpaer with the Halo stats stretching all game titles. They then broke it down to matches per month, and reach trumped halo 3 with matches per month. So if more matches are played on reach than Halo3, how is reach a flop? If it sees more activity that contradicts what MLG is thinking doesn't it? I hope you guys do get some halo love back in MLG. Heres hoping for it!
  4. I returned to you but found, my empty home. The radio told me to stay, as it burned on (I sang alone). Here will I pass my love?

  5. Silvi, hopefully they will give you guys a good system to use, and hopefully for you as well MLG won't be too quick to pull any plugs on H4 before anyone gets to actually play it. I have no doubt the game will be a success and open new doors for all players. Just try to have a little faith and hope, and perhaps we will all be suprised by November. Heres hoping anyway...
  6. Ok, first off, you haven't seen me rage yet. I am simply trying to point out why your posts are wrong, and instead of manning up to being wrong, you insist on quoting every post I make...which btw, annoys the admins here. You may want to avoid doing it every post. Second, making a remake of Halo 2 is not simply making things compatable with Live today. In order to do the remake, they have to decompile and recompile every asset in the game, then carefully go back thru and make sure every asset matches the original format in functionality, and test it over and over again. Before that even happens, they have to write a new code base for format differences. It is not as simple as recompile source assets with a new tool and play. it's far beyond that. As a friendly suggestion, you really should go to B-Net and watch their VidOC's on development for the titles. After watching them, you will see what I am saying is nothing but hard published fact. Also take into account that to do the remake properly, they need to design and write a variant engine to run the remastered version on. Aside from that, now you need to develop new assets for the remastered versions. Third, Halo CEA was a project that resulted from Bungie splitting with Microsoft and not renewing their contract. This occured in 2007 but the original contract stated they still had a few games to produce. When the split occured, Microsoft formed 343Industries, and the inital plan for CEA began. Yes a majority of the game work did not happen until late 2009, but it also took 3 studios a little over a year combined to do the work last minute And at this time, Halo 4 was in production as well. Sabre Int. employed 200 people, and Certain affinity 60 people alone during CEA development. If you alot each team a basic entry 36,000 a year pay, that equates to $9,360,000.00 just for those 2 studios. Add in the 120 or so that 343i has and you get a total $13,680,000.00 just for the basic entry pay for the development of Halo CEA. That does not take into account that people were not all paid the same basic entry rate. I'm no business genius, but 13 million is a lot of money to put into development for a simple remake now isn't it? Now your talking about hiring more than that just to do a remake of Halo 2, while mixing Halo 4 and Halo 5 into the mix? All of this was done using the Reach Blam! engine code base. The published fact decision to use reach instead of a standalone MM was because they did not want to split the community further, and because dev time to develop a compatable newtork model for CEA to use would have been a 3 year process alone. Halo 2 would be no different, since the network model used for that is extremely out of date compared to the newest Live itteration we have now. Now, I'm just going to do the same quote game you seem to be playing with me... Halo 1 came out in November of 2001. They started prelim work on Halo 2 roughly 6 weeks after Halo 1 launched. Halo 2 came out in 2004. 3 Years dev time. Insinuating that it is in development, or just reading the statement wrong. Perhaps better wording is needed? If it was taken out of context or just worded wrong, my bad bro. Sorry. See my first quote for the correct answer to this one. I am sorry if I offended you in any way earlier, but this has to stop. I am simply trying to point you to simple published fact and truth that points to the unlikelyhood of a remake. I would be happy to see one get done, it doesn't effect me. I would love for my fellow gamers of a newer generation get to enjoy what i did back in 04, but the simple truth is, it's highly unlikely. Feel free to prove anything I have said wrong, by linking in correct data. I am not above being wrong, and when i am I am certaintly man enough to admit it. Ask around, I'm not a high horse or punch puller by any means. I hope that we can continue to debate further, but on a more friendly and calmer balance. But all this is wasted of coarse, if your unwilling to read anything I have posted at all. Either way, this will be my last post if that will make everyone happy. I do look forward to future calmer debates in teh future with you. You do have quite an articulate way of putting things. Cheers!
  7. Since I don't game much anymore, what was the exact stated reason by the MLG comms for taking it out? Was it lack of spectating interest or the players that decided it? The reason matters, and I am searching for an answer before I post if it should be back or not.
  8. Pigs....man's other best friend!
  9. Having Boba Fett's armor or even helmet as an unlockable would be sick! Hell go the whole nine yards and throw a Stormtrooper or even vadars helmet. Of coarse boss them up a bit and make them look more like the "unleashed" versions.
  10. Well, I'm not the best when it comes to explaining things like that but I will try... basically I guess the easiest way to do it, would be to have a standard 5 tier rank system. Teir 1: everyone...all levels compete against equal levels teir 2: Secondary accounts start off being paired with level 30-40, from tier 1, then progress upward from there Teir 3: Third accounts start off with level 41-50 from tier 2 and progress as usual Teir 4: Fourth account starts off with nothing but level 50's from tier 3. Tier 5: idk...i'm lost? This way all tiers are free and clear of superior players from other tiers. Everyone should be happy with that i think?
  11. No, I have to agree with that previous post. While I do not agree with Frank and his approach he is wrong in doing what they are doing. Liek stated before, the big problem was skill lacking people complaining about high levels destroying them, or using secondary or third accounts to boost or whatever. Like the previous...keep it separated and you curb the issue. Not everyone wants to play in the same sandbox, so why force us or why force others? And for the multiple accounts...no big deal. You should be free to make as many as possible. But I do have an idea for those who dont like multiple accounts. Why don't they require you to play with people whom also have multiple accounts? Like somehow link it so that your secondary account shows up, and because it's a secondary of a level 50 or whatever, you get mashed in with higher level players from the start? this way players at level 10 or so, don't have anything to rage about? Just an idea...
  12. Wish i still had all my Halo stuff. I went thru a bankruptcy about 5 years ago and had to sell everything I owned. All I have left now, is stuff I bought at gamestop not to long ago. Halo 3 and Reach is all I have besides my PC copies of Halo 1 and Halo 2.
  13. I gotta say I liked Kat. She had a wicked smart noggin (before gettin it blown out), and she was an asian chick! Win frickin double win baby!
  14. Again, you are avoiding the issue you started. You said that the remake "Was in development"....still waiting for that link....still waiting..... And yes go ahead and rage out and try to twist words. I am part of a large developers ring that meets with Microsoft 4 times a year for deployment on various products and platforms. It came with my highprice tag MSDN subscription and premium membership to Bizspark. If a remake was coming, I would have heard about it long before anyone else in the general community. I'm sorry what was that? Can't find that link yet that stated directly the remake was happening? Come back when you find it troll. Oh and for the record I could care less if Halo 2 got remade. Why would I care? I'm not the one making money from it. They can remake every Halo game in existence if they want. I wont lose any sleep over it.
  15. Look, I am all for a great rank system as much as the next guy. I have no personal quarrel with any of that. I feel they need to keep the competitive and casual split so they don't collide and make a mess. That has always been my philosophy. I have outlined before on here many times how the rank system should be employed and used. A lot of people liked what me and some other guy came up with. My issue is with competitive types acting like no one else matters. The only reason i got involved at all was because someone posted misinformation about boosting/hacking/whatever. Other people turned it into something it didn't need to be. As for he direction of the game, sorry. It is not the casual gamers fault that the population is dominated by us, at this time in the market. It makes good financial sense to cater a game towards the group that will dish out the most money for it. I am not saying it is right to do that, I am just simply putting it out there to be known.
  16. Nap time? I'm a little old for nap time my friend. Care to quote or post up.this source of this supposed remake? Show me some proof it exists and its detailed working development plan, then you can spout off like you know something. All you have done is point fingers and call my knowledge of the game out. How about YOU show.some proof that you know what you are talking about. Btw, if Halo 2 was on Microsofts schedule to be put into.development at a solid time allotment...I would have gotten the memo on that from my development ring.
  17. From the beginning, at least from the senior standpoint,.Star Wars was an emotional rollercoaster. The whole.dynamic of the atory mixed with the drama tbat unfolded really got to me. That being said, a completely different generation is what catapultex Star Wars to the fame it has. Had Star Wars been released in the 90's it would not have jad the same effect or appeal. This can be seen by the slump of the prequels they did. Star Wars was released at the right time, and prospered. I have no doubt that once Halo makes the leap.at its own right time... that it may share a similar destiny. PS... I still cry in Jedi when Yoda dies...to this very day. And dont get started on Vadars cremation. The music alone and dark.atmosphere just make it a tear jerker... yeah... Im a *****.
  18. I dont see how a rank system effects the quality of MLG at all. MLG is open to everyone correct? If someone has the money and time to participate they should be able to. Limiting access or eligability based on a rank is a bit biased. Not everyone who has amazing skill has time to put into a rank. That would be like saying that because you are over level "xx", you can no longer go into any other mm playlist other than mlg. Segregation based on status does not.boad well.for anyone.
  19. Sadly yes H2V is quite broken and the population has been dwindling recently. This goes against the entire thread and site...but if you want a super fast paced and crazy matchmaking game, go play a few rounds of Crysis 2.
  20. My silly friend, do have any idea how much time it takes to redo assets to make them compatable with a hybrid new engine? I'm sorry, I forgot that you were a better programmer and understood the engine better than me. Not! The command lines handling the output formats has to be written from scratch, and the formats have to be writtent o be compatable in both a PC sandbox and original xbox 1 sandbox environment. And lets not even get started on the emulation needed to handle the running of the Xbox 1 titles on the new Live system. Remaking halo 2 into a proper release takes more than just a few "I can" people. If Microsoft is soooo big and sooo smart, then why did they hire 2 failed companies to try to port the first Halo 2 PC title? Can you give me a solid answer for that? Mindless dribble....that is what infoerior intillect 343i trolls use to say they didn't undertsand anything I posted. Tell me, what was the last big company you worked for in the media and Entertainment department? I never said it would never be remade, I was quoting Frankie..a 343i employee...you know him right? Yeah, he said the studio does not support any previous Halo games and the Halo CEA remake was only done to mark Halo's 10 years of greatness. It wasn't done because everyone cried about wanting it. If that was the case, the multiplayer would have been redone to go along with it. I don't know where you get your silly facts or rumors..but you should really ask for your money back. Narrow minded am I? Why, because I understand what I hear direct from a companies mouth? Because I understand development lifecycles and put to you all bluntly? Gee whiz sorry for not breaking things to you guys more gently. Do you want a bottle with my post next time I am on? MS does not dictate or control the development time necessary to produce a game. They are the publisher, 343i and it's employees are the producers/creators. Microsoft is at the mercy of how fast and how high quality 343i or even Bungie for that matter, back in the day, could get the game done. Fact is, Halo 2 would have already had to be in a production phase right now in order to complete it in time for the 2014 release someone else posted a rumor about. I'd like to see that solid evidence that points to this? Conscidering 343i and Microsoft officially and straight forward stated that no plans for future remakes was in the works or even on the bargaining table.
  21. Playing ranked games has nothing to do with knowing how the system works. I am old old achool modder and programmer...thats why I am the "Tech Guru". I have decompiled, decrypted and basically torn every Halo game to **** to learn how the wngine works and how the systems inside work. Goes qithout saying... I am quite versed in the Live API's and their transmission protocols. And yes, I do understand how the gameplay works.mechanically more than you ever will. I dont have to have a high skill level to show or prove that. All your multiple accounts prove is that you are more passionate and have more time to invest in silly e-game ***** size. I chose to play primarily for fun and to extend the traditional Halo experience to ungrateful little ****s like you who care nothing about the latter. Surfice to.say that yes we are from 2 different sub groups but just because you have in-game skill... please dont misconstue that into meaning you are superior in knowledge about anything Halo related. Using a controller to kill opponents is a far cry from decrypting files and writing your handling code to manipulate assets. Common problem in thia commjnity...competative fan boys think they know Halo better than anyone.
  22. That was a nice speach about network manipulation...too bad nothing you actually posted is true or feesable. I.suggest you go to.school.for data management and advanved networking before attempting to try to explain or properly post about such things. MLG cheats?!? omg I had no idea! Reachs population dwindled because of many factors. Stating it was because of rank systems is purely your own opinion and is not a fact. Again Reach paired you based on your commendations and personal mm benchmarks, not your rank.Did you even bother to read anything I said? And for the rwcord next time you want to attempt to call my knowledge of Live and Halo out....dont try. There is a reason I am called the "Tech Guru". Now be a good little troll and please kindly move all yourpoor ass excuses and complaints over to Waypoint where they belong...with the rest of the Halo Community garbage. This fan site is quite full.enough of bs posts and half ass thoughts as it is. Thanks mate...good on yah!
  23. People hated Reach' s bllom instance because it forced you to pace shots at a mid to long distance. The point of using gradual increasing bloom with no.finite end was to stop the days of mid to long range pick-offs that we loved in Halo 3. Keep in mind also, there were never any complaints at all about Halo 1's pistol bloom. To date it is the only weapon that fired wildly inacurate in the shortest amount of time and also to.date is the only weapon that fired to the extent of well past its aiming reticule. Same system....same old issues. Just a newer generation bitching about it. Anything inside of a game that requires you to aim better or oit perform someone is a skill. Bloom is just as much a skill as anything else. Its a fundamental core truth. And dont try the tired old "random" excise either. I can just as easily repost the constraint and min max values of the Reach weapons to.cojnter such a silly argument.
  24. Silvi, the pairing system in Reach was not designed to pair you with people of the same rank. The matchmaking system paired you with people based on your commendations and individual.skill.with weapons. For example, lets say your about to go into action sack. Action sack is a team game and the system compares ctf, assault and other commendations or medals that primarily come out of said team gametypes. The system then searches for your k/d and commendations and pairs you with players that have similar amounts. Because this system pairs you more with individual skill instead of overall rank, this is why Inheritors will be paired with Seargents, Majors, etc... The choosing system used in Reach is far superior than latter systems because it actually takes your individual.accomplishments into.account...not just win/loss or rank. Just because someone holds a high rank doesnt always mean that player earned it or is better than lower level players. Not every player has the time or opportunity to invest in a rank. I cant tell you how many times over the past 8 years I have seen lower level players out perform level 40-50 simply because they lacked the time to play enough to get to even level 32. As I said, rank does not mean you earned or.deserve to be anywhere. As with boosting, it will always be an issue so long as win/loss or deliberate bad gameplay can be used to fool the system. Also...obtaining someones IP has nothing to do with servers or Live. Most common routers have DDOS and flooding protocols by default to stop such silly actions. Also....each player is.synced to the server at different times, speeds and frequency. Your bad connection or location does not.effect the speed at which the server syncs your team. Everything is done on an individual basis. That neing said, the server does however segregate information basex on latency. What I mean by that is...if your lagging even a bit and the data you transmits said you headshot a guy...but other clients are saying you didnt....your headshot gets lost. The most common form and cause of lag is your own network setup. People think that by opening a few ports it helps....the truth is, an improper or non-DMZ assigned setting can screw you more than a simple port forward.
  25. First off your a.complete moron. Second as I.said, Frankie.himself stated that a simple less.aset heavy game like.Halo.1 would have taken years jusy develop.a proper multiplayer for.CEA. Do you understand that at all? Rewrite? You do not understand development or code at all.do you? Rewrite means simply adding a few lines of changing a few syntaxes. Neither of which are what would happen with an H2 remake. They would need to.create a whole new.engine variant for ataryers, and the entire multiplayer code structure would have to be written from.scratch. Why do you think they chose to use the Reach mm.code? It sure as hell wasnt because they were lazy. Halo was in development for more.than five years. Part of that time.was given out to Halo 2. When Miceosoft bought Halo and partnered with Bungie...a.sequel.was already under way. Their original.contract called for.x amount of Halo games. Do you honestly believe a developer waits till.after release to begin working on a sequel? Do me a favor...dont post about things you dont have knowledge about or experience with. It will just anger me and make you look.stupid. TL;DR
