  1. Having dedicated servers does not solve the issue of cheating. As a long time server hoster I can tell you first hand that there is an infinite amount of possabilities to work.around a host and falsify incoming data to said host. Every game that incoporates a rank.system has flaws that can be exploited. Halo 4 will be do different in this aspect. As I stated before, everyone has a right, and has a valid point to complain and point out things they saw. The game is 99% done dev time and all 343i likely has time for now...is to go thru the bug list. Along the lines of a ranking system making gameplay more.competative...you have to be joking me. A silly number makes you play harder or makes you want to win? Thats sad. Competition is not soley defined by the rank in which you hold. Competative spirit is.born from an individuals own free will and.need to win...regardless of the payoff. If you really want to.describe more accuratly what YOU conacider to be rank and.competative then call that need what it truly is... An excuse to feel.superior and show it off. You really want to.feel better than everyone else? Then show it in-game...you dont need a number to prove your better than someone else. Doing something like a number rank would be like me.going up to an assistant manager at work, and telling them that because I am.a General Manager, I am better than they are at managing things. Completely untrue and false. Your stance or skill is.not.soley defined by a title or a number. Only team type.play can by properly defined this way...not individuals.

  4. Grumpy...first off dev time took nearly 3 years of the whole team. You may want to go back and watch a few VidOCs. Im assuming youve never been part of a coding or.true development team, if you think its simlle to just rewrite hundreds of thousands of lines of base code to become.compliant with API in use on the console. 343 themselves even stated that redoing even Halo 1 to have mm like halo 2, and above would have taken the team 2 years alone.

  6. Thats actually quite false. A majority of PC Halo gamers, have yet to either even play halo 2 PC or even 3, ODST or Reach. According to my polls, the percentage of cross platform gamers that have yet to play titles after halo 1 and Halo 2 is 84%. To see for yourself, go inot Halo PC or halo 2 pc MM, and ask around all day if they have played the other titles. You'll be astonished at how many Halo gamers have yet to play the whole trilogy.
  7. The emulation side is still a big issue. Halo 2's version of Blam! and the tag architecture was the only title that I know of, to take a drastic change in the layout and was truly unique amongst the titles. halo 3, ODST and reach all went back to the similar tagging of CE. In order to do a proper remake like CEA, the emulation would need to be updated, and coded to run along side the same or similar version of the modified reach engine CEA used. Live has changed far too much since Halo 2, and because Halo 2 had Live incorporated into it, it would take a lot more to make "Today's Live" ready. CE did not have live and only a basic metcode model to utilize. It was easy to write compared to changing the whole game by trying to modify already engine dependent Live code. If a Halo 2 remake were to happen, expect the development time for it to exceed 3 years at a minimum.
  8. I suppose it's possible that the Librarian fled to this shield world after leaving the Ark before the halo array fired? I mean, it was her job to catalog and collect all the species the halo Array was going to wipe out was it not? but I never thought thru reading, that the librarian hated humans. I thought she had a null standpoint on all species and respected life to a great extent. Is it possible that it is not the Promethians at the center of this, but the Precursers? The trailer did say 'An ancient evil awakens". From what i thought I knew, the Precursors and the Forerunners had it out in full scale?
  9. yes, threads like this should be deleted altogether and the accounts tied to them should be banned then deleted also. Leaving this kind of stuff to sit on the backend will just in the end make this look like another B-Net or Waypoint. Perhaps a Mod should be assigned the specific task of conscolidating and cleaning up the massive poop fest we have festering?
  10. Framerate is usually between 30-40. The reason for this is because a majority of humans and eyes cannot see past this framerate. There are people with extremely good.vision but I have yet or at least do not recall anyone ever being able to.actively percwive or distinguish high frame rates of 60. This of coarse is.documented by medical.acientists. So in short...expect 60. I do wonder though.....what framerates the 360 architecture running the modified DX9 software can achieve? I know it streams like DX10 but still. Hmmmmmm.....

While I agree that should have benn stated much better, his viewpoint IS valid. 343has basically at this point, 1 to 2 months.tops of actual development time left before the bug list has to be squashed. Squashing the bugs and errors is.usually a 2 month process and the gap.between release to manufa turer and actual.shipping of the game discs is roughly 3 weeks. As far as speculation goes its done. What we saw is 99% likely what we are actually going to get. That is unless the demo.they brought to.E3 was months old. Which is highly unlikely.
  12. Great explanation Cole. This is something lacking in the forums as of late. Good to.see someone take some initiative and explain why they feel the way they do.when it.comes to their.content here. Lots of you guys here should take this as a n example and perhaps do the same. No matter what differences we have Cole I respect your positions and stances. Hope you stick around for a long time, I have a sneaky suspicion that the ass side of you and me are gonna have some big laughs.
  13. Hines, competative play is not.defined by a rank.system. Making a game competative depends upon its participants. If your in it to win, and.give it your all....the matches can be epic. Having a silly number doesnt make you more competative at your core. Quit throwing around terms like "noob", as if your some mid ages or really older gamer. All you little kids between age 25 and 0 are noobs to me. Noobs at life,.experience etc.... You see what I did there. I used it as an example to show you how short aighted and condensending using that term can be. Fact is....everyone in life is new or inexpereinced at something. Be more respectfull.towards my fellow.members. On a side note...you seem to.complain a whole lot and call out 343. Can you produce a higher quality product? Care to show.some of this award winning content and ideas you have off ingame in the form of a playable.asset?
  14. ^^ You One, get the brown star for today. lmao Don't really have any viable complaints with the game itself, at least not until I get a chance to decrypt a map file anyway. The only thing that really was over hyped was the BR. Correct me if I am wrong, but 343i said that they wanted the BR to feel powerful and sound like a force to be reckoned with. They wanted players to feel like they had raw power in their hands. From what i have heard of the BR firing, it sounds more like a silenced SMG than a powerhouse. For me, it's like having a small kitten with a cap gun taped to his fuzzy butt. Very misleading 343i....
  15. Regardign the spread in halo 4, it makes me wonder if they reverted back to the predefined min / max spread setting with time defining it, or if they used the Reach single setting with time expanding it exponentially?
  16. Also keep in mind, that each species has many different varieties of them. Look at humans....we have chinese, caucasian, african american, etc... The grunts we see here, along with the Elites, could just very well be a different sub-species that was dispatched long ago. Who knows, but it sure as hell aint worth getting all worked up about.
  17. Roun Cole, chill the **** out! Halo was created well before the books. The books were an extension of the game that were created purely as a way for Bungie and Microsoft to capitalize on Halo once they bought Bungie and the rights. And the CREATORS specifically said, that the story layed out in-game will always trump any book cannon. Yes this is confusing, but how many people do you know, actually go in-game then pick up books while playing pointing out flaws? Obsessivve compulsive much? Furthermore **** face, dont come in here insulting my fellow members telling them that their opinions dont count. Everyone who comes here has a right to express their opinion and who are you to tell them otherwise? Games evolve and so does the hardware and software that powers it. Quit complaining that things look different from game to game, when quite obviouslt things are bound to change based on what can be added and taken away in-game. Epic space battles would have been nice, but do you have any idea of the memory overhead for that little spout? Do you know what rendering capabilities and limitations are in the 360 and the proprietary Blam! engine? No you don't, so go on about how you have a much better way to layout the gameplay. But before I finish here, if I remember correctly, Glasslands contradicts your little Ghost of Onyx tidbit on the Spartan III's. In fact, Chief Mendez talks about Spartan III's being volunteers, not six year old children. No children were used in Spartan III program, which is why Halsey was super pissed and initially rejected them, because they wee not children that were genetically matched to being "perfect". She felt older or grown soldiers were too much a liability. And if you wanna talk laws of physics, the the whole superhuman wearing tons of battle armor is irrelivant. No human can be enhanched to the point in which the muscle could exert the stength they describe in the books. Even if the armo was power assisted, where are you gonna cram that much assist mechanics into 4 inch armor? Oh thats right, it's Scy-Fy...my mistake.
  18. Ok, what you are about to see is data taken directly from Halo 2. The point of this is me trying to illustrate how the concepts and actuals that we saw in Halo 4, have a deeper root than just that title... Take note to the bottom section of this "powerup" equipment tag. Halo 2 was meant to have both Full Spectrum (Promethian Vision) and Sprint...but was cut due to development restraints and time. Next up is a more specific item. We see the various "team Designation" that was supposed to be used. Obviously not all of them were used... In the next, we see that headhunter was not only supposed to be a gametype in Reach, but for Halo 2 as well.... Now yes some of these things have nothing to do with halo 4, but I thought it was important to show some of you that these AA's you all hate so much...were supposed to be added into basic multiplayer gameplay way back with Halo 2. making them standard loadout, or equipment does not negate the fact that AA's are usefull and serve their purpose in the Halo universe. Ok to settle this silly debate I'm going to post some pulled data images from halo 2. said images will show many of you, things you didn't even know existed inside the Halo 2 code base back before and when it was released. I'll post them up in about an hour. i gotta upload them somewhere then link them in. Stay tuned!
  22. Im.concerened about this also. the default settings for.buttons is what I have always used. My concern is mostly for the stick layouts. Since Halo 1 I have used legacy inverted on 1 sensativity.
  23. Bungie did not add it or expect the animation sequences to be cut short by other animation calls. Due to the fact that it was a core engine bug, it could not be removed from the game without compiling a whole new set of xbe's and global tags. That being said it is still a cheap trick that is not widely accepted during a match. many server runners and players feel it ruins the gameplay as did the super-bounces, and thus have made it not ok to use in-game, or at the least made it ok to use once or twice during a match. As for saying anyone can use it, that is false. Some people do not have the button layout nor the timing it takes to use it. Anyone who has to use a glitch is sad. It goes for the same as reloading in halo 1. There are people who waste shots, then melee after reloading to get their next round of shots going faster. If you were good and had any skill, you would have finished the job within the first 2 shots and had enough scariness behind you to allow the chance to reload properly. I for one would never use such a cheap little trick. I prefer to play o' natural.
