  6. Have to.agree with campaign being the bees knees. For me Halo drew me in withe campaign gameplay. I never really got into or appriciated multiplayer until I started to do wicked mods for it. Halo 3 had a great multiplayer but I found the maps and the tweaks to.the globals and matg a bit oberboard. Not to mention the nasty habit of hitboxes incorrectly registering a sniper shot.... Halo 4 does need to build off the campaign mkre for me personally. Ranks and multiplayer always came in last as campaign was the one solid tbing that sold the game. Without a descent campaign or other game mode distraction, Halo would have just become another arcade download just for multiplayer play. Ranks are important to a lot of people but again...this is why we must have a seperation and choice in which avenue of gameplay we want to experience. All.for ranks.....just dont force it on me.
  7. You have to.remember that a console enviroment is quite.different than a pc. The software.coding and hardware is layed out to operate more.efficiently and handle a greater range of graphics with lkmited hardware or lower tech hardware. Pc has a ton of overhead in the threading and north/south bridge data transfer protocols. Halo 2 was not ported horrible. Keep in mind that the tools used to.create and compile the game were PC...meaning that the only difference that had to be tweaked, was the platform specific format the compiler pushed out. Every tag except BSP, Shaders and Models are the same andas their pc counterpart. the only difference in Halo 2's case is the 12 byte endian header, and some padding.

  10. Halo has always had it's reticule directly dead center. The particulars of the HUD invloving the crosshairs is as follows... Fullscreen offset X:0 Y:0 Halfscreen offset X:0 Y:0 Quaterscreen offset X:0 Y:0 These tag fields are in every halo and follow the same pattern of values in every title. Hope that helps.
  11. Just so we are all clear, frank clearly stated during the panel that, "We have no plans at this time or in the future to work on a beta release. Our focus is on polishing the game and releasing it.". Kinda hard to misread or catch anything other than NO from that in terms of having a beta.
  12. Me and my sons said the same thing about it reminding us of the Narrows. Good to know we aren't just a bunch of crazies for thinking it.

  14. Xbox Live service at times can be completely unreasonable and sparatic in the way it handles network transitions around clients and servers, or with Reach, between clients and hosts. having a PC Halo 3, would allow players to host or buy their own dedicated servers which by most standards, are very well maintained and upgraded over Microsofts servers. The PC ports also allow users to create content and share it in meaningful new ways. Pc ports have far greater extended the life of even Halo 1, more so than anyone could have ever thought. Bringing titles back to the PC would be a great step forward in preserving the Halo 3 population. But as I said previously, most people out there have rigs that are barely able to play halo 2 at mid settings right now. The system requirements for Halo 3 would be likely too much for normal everyday gamers to afford. OS and hardware would be crucial in the ports success. Obviously you would not want a downgraded DX10/11 title like halo 3 to run with DX9 capabilities. The shader model support alone would make H3 look worse than Halo 2....if that's even possible? lmao
  15. That's true. Microsoft does want to keep Halo a console only title, but Frank did hint on and straight out tell us that PC titles for Halo were not out of the realm of possabilities, and then quickly moved on. Don't be suprised if we see at E3 this year, a suprise port of possibly H3 and ODST or just one of them from Certain Affinity or Sabre Interactive.
  16. Epic. Looking much better than the previous build. The level definatly looks more polished and the animations look impressingly smooth. Thanks for posting Adam....now I have new sections of that map to do some work with. Should have all viewed level portions in-game and functioning inside Halo 2 in a few weeks. Looks like Construct is going on hold yet again!
  17. Yes you can. When Halo 1 PC was released with an HEK, a strict disclosure of sorts came with it limiting your usage rights. When Halo 2 for PC shipped, Microsoft reformed their EULA and bwgan a new era for Halo. Under current EULA, any person may use a Halo related asset from any source in their own project, art, mod,.etc, so long as said usage is non-profit. Hope this helps. And btw, be sure to send us a link for it as we here love to see what other members create.
  18. The only issue I have with Halo titles coming again to pc is the resource requirement. Even when running Halo 2 on XP.systems, it required too much. Judging from engine specs of games older, like Halo 3....an optimal.system.would need at least a 1st gen triple.core or at minimal.a.second gen quad core. Gpu would likely be a nvidia 4 series or ati 6 series. Neither one is very cheap for kids or even.budgeted students or young adults in this.economy.
  19. It most definatly does not mean you beat the game. Doing it Co-Op means you lack the skill to elude or take down properly the enemy AI in the situation or "scenario" they have originally intended you to do so in. For that matter, if you can beat it on Co-Op and not solo, then there is a problem. when you play on Co-Op the limit of enemies is lifted and more spawn. More so, often at times the permutation of the class of AI is lifted to a much higher level.
  20. Dead Poets Society?...or that funny episode of Family Guy where Brian teaches the bad kids....lmao
  21. Gotta vote for Azaxx. Fellow MoM's stick together. And he promised me bacon wrapped pie!
  22. I've been thinking about that very idea...taking the bsp's for those 2 special unreleased maps. The best way I can figure it, is to get with my buddy TroyMac1ure, keeper of entity, and see if he can tweak the bsp and map headers to recognize inside of Entity. As it is, you can load a CE PC map with entity and extract models and bsp's, so I don't see why tweaking it to handle Halo 2 PC would be much of a chore on his end. The only other way to do it, would be to do it as I am now trying to extract models from Reach, open the model tags and copy down every single vertice, plane, face and vertice number manually, then arranging them inside a custom obj file. Very time consuming but worth it if I can actually get a fully constructed obj of the spartans.
  23. I can teach you Scrappy. That is my job of being a leader after all. Dude, we should totally teamview sometime and do some shmexxy shaders for that waterworks map of yours!
  24. I can't decide, which one of us is dreaming tonight, I'm just a shadow in the light you leave behind. The only thing we need is time, to change your mind set.

  25. It's cheaper for Microsoft to only have to worry about stat storage on their end. They make you and your console eat up your bandwidth to the extra syncing calculations and hand stat data back to their servers. They are trying to push too much off onto us gamers and out consoles. I understand that consoles are a good choice for this kinda thing, but just like any piece of hardware....actual performance results will vary based on location, configuration, operating temperature etc... I would however like to see what is so "phenomenal" about Halo 4's netcode. If josh or anyone else on the networking side happens to find this...please send me a PM on here or waypoint. I would love to see some source snippets of this wonderful code your touting.
