United States of the Forum presidential election!!!
Twinreaper replied to Spyro's topic in General Discussion
Drop me from the list. I wouldn't have the time or energy to put anything into the campaign. I appreciate the recognition though. Thanks, respectfully. -
Just to.chime in real quick...Kat's death had both purpose and was done perfectly. It was a solid "take out the brains" maneuver on the zealots end. Kat was both comms and tech expert....a heavy loss for any team in the midst of battle. When she died, none of the spartans had actively running shields. There was no reason to have them up.as they were alone at the time and gathering themselves together. The zealots caught them off guard, and that was Kat's downfall.

Im not sure if it's correct or not...but most of the trouble with the health of the vehicle seemed to be also how damage was passed to riders. If you shot a warthog with a sniper and three passagers inside, the old system would pass half or 3/4 of the damage to the riders...leaving the rest to be taken by the actual vehicle.
-
Yeah agreed. But the reason the warthogs sucked so bad in Halo 1, is because they didn't have Havok physics for the vehicles. They mention it during tone of their VidOCs that they hard to write the physics themselves. That aside, the Reach physics do mimic the handling of the Halo 1 model. Worst ever!!!! Have to agree that halo 3 had the best refined and tuned handling for the vehicles, and if they need to focus and borrow physics settings, it needs to be from Halo 3.

Cyris, bloom has been in every single Halo title. If you bothered to search around the subject first, you would have found my post explaining in detail each weapons "error angle" and "error min, max " value which is bloom, values taken exactly from the weapon tag itself. Obviously you are the one who has never played with an HEK from Halo 1, 2 or even ever bothered to really learn the spectrum of tag structures and their values for halo 3 or Reach.

Dang...cant believe I didnt make the list. My life is officially over. wahhhhhh. BTW my bday is June 5th. Perfect MaM material type present my way???

Call to Arms!!! Community Awareness and Healing!!!!!
Twinreaper replied to Twinreaper's topic in Announcements
Halo has overtime connected people physically and also has been responsible for people meeting up and actually getting married. This might just be a simple video game to you, but for many many more it is as important and offers just as many "real" connections as any other life encounter. You are downplaying the value of the community and the game for a lot of members, and I just don't see any reason why you would? Do you have malformed intentions? I clearly stated that I am not trying to lead anything. I am merely getting the ball rolling. You are reading into what I am saying at a higher level than it needs to be. I am a voice who voiced his opinion and made some factual observations, nothing more. People can do what they want with it, act how they want and post what they want. I am not trying to turn this into a dictator ship or fascist regime. From your responses thus far, you are against any time of reform in the way we associate with each-other, and you have a problem with anyone trying to do so. SO why are you continuing to post in this thread and further diminish the members who have posted kudos and support for this? Do you think tearing them down with well constructed passive aggressive posts is a great way to show yourself as a friendly and community supportive member? I get you don't like what I did, and quite frankly, I have no obligation to explain myself to you or anyone else. You can either like what I am doing, or simply leave and not like it. It's your choice. And for the record, why should I or anyone else HAVE to tolerate any behavior in which it demeans, insults or aggressively hurts anyone? You think just because we are given the right to free speech, that it means we can actively go around anywhere, albeit forums, the park, Skype, etc and just say whatever we want without an equal or opposite effect? Get real. We may have free speech, but we also have certain guidelines in that free speech that must be followed. Go ahead and tell a cop or a government worker over Live, that they are ****in trash noob *ick sucker and see what happens. All I want is for people to not be as rude and intolerant to each-other within the game. the game and the community is what WE make of it, it is not predefined in quality or importance by any standard. The people in the community have clearly spoken over time and turned it into much more than just a simple internet and game community. With all do respect to your opinion, which you are entitled to. Please stop posting ill-fated comments or non-support to this thread, or a moderator will be alerted. This thread was an awareness thread to start, not a grounds for a flame war or argument about whether or not it is valid or important. Thanks. -
Call to Arms!!! Community Awareness and Healing!!!!!

If I had more time I would happy to type it all out...my overall goal anyway. Surfice to say I wish to only get people to be more respectful and aware of the feelings of every sub-genre of playstyle. All too often people boast or stake claims that because they belong to a certain group, that everyone else is wrong, and in turn they demean and insult others without like minds. I have no intention of reforming the community as a whole at all. I am mearly the wheel that is getting this car started rolling towards a more unified community. All I want is for everyone to stop bickering about what makes a great title, who gets priority over what, and who is better than who. All these things to the developer, can paint a messy and inaccurate portrait or how they can improve things for us. As an example, look around at the various threads. One might come in here and just as soon leave after seeing the mess that some threads have in them. It's a lot to look at and a lot to tend to, but if we learn to work together more cooperatively, we can see a much bigger payoff in terms of overall game quality, on console and on Live. Throughout history, great men have changed nations. These men did not do so by physically going around and holding peoples hand, or even doing the hard work themselves. No, these men inspired people and educated them on how and in what direction to go. I have a strong sense of leadership, but I do not care to be the sole person who is looked at for leading things towards a better path. I am simply just putting my foot forward and starting to get people who may feel the same way, or those who don't, a perspective to look back on and decide themselves wether or not they want to change. It is purely optional. Either way, I love this community and will always be a part of it....if thats a good things......seeing as how I piss off a lot of people lmao -
Thats true. The models and variations of them are quite impressive in the Halo franchise. The only thing i would like to see improved in terms of models, is how they animate. CoD does have a great kismatic setup and the animations are very fluid and realistic. Halo at times seems a little slow or clunky, but arguably is better looking though. Just wish the devs would have decided to use a new engine so they could properly bring the franchise up to speed with everyone else. And don't even get me started on the level mesh formats....yikes!

Particle effects are tied directly to the graphical layer of code. The Particel effects objects uses streaming graphic processes that interpret and display the emmitions that are defined in the called functions of the tag work. The physics end, dictates how and when the particles skew along a path defined in the root placement and node definition. I know my stuff, please don't try to argue it, unless you have some decompiled data of your own that suggests otherwise. Halo 4 has never had as many on-screen LOD rendered objects as the competition, but that is an engine setback. If they wanted to, they could have easily used a from scratch engine that redefined the formats and layouts. Why they still do not choose to do so is beyond me. The textures for CoD and competator titles have always used a lower byte and better compressed schema that Halo, and because of that, they are able to to include more textures and at higher resolutions. CoD MW3 alone uses over 18,000 individual textures. Where as Halo Reach utilized only about 10,000 to 11,000. Surfice to say, Halo is focusing more on the shader use end and the abilities DX11 presents and in-house first party developer of it, opens more doors. CoD is relying on lighting to bring out vibrant and rich textures, something Halo has always sucked at. Lighting makes more of a difference in terms of rendering thatn any amount of shader usage. I know this from map making thru the HEK's of Halo 1 and Halo 2. I've used similar setting shaders for Cryengine as Halo Reach, and Cryengine with lighting blows away Reach by a crap ton. Look, I'm not saying Halo 4 isn't going to look awesome, because I know the team is working hard and finding new techniques to bring it to life. All I am saying is, that after 3 years of development, this title should look better than any other in the coming year and a half. If it doesn't, then something along the development of it went horribly wrong. BOII will likely have 1/2 the production time of Halo 4, and already in terms of lighting and on-screen effects, BOII looks to be winning.

My second post was an illustration, and for that purpose only. I have no quarrel with any MLG or competative types. I respect MLG players just as I do any other. I guess you'r missing the overall point of this or just don't care either way. If you do not care at all, then why are your pointlessly posting in this thread? Is your intention simply to diminish or downplay this cause? I take issue with your little kid and teenage referrence. Not every "kid" or "teenager" is rude, impolite, immature, etc... At times I have seen younger people behave more appropriatly thatn ones 2 or 3 times their age. Please don't slight younger players. They have just as much right to be a part of a community and enjoy the game online as the rest of us. No, I suppose your an Obama suppoert. -
Holy crap, he can legally drink now!!! Happy Birthday buddy! Don't get too plastered today.

Viva, I can't help but feel that you do not care to help.facilitate a change. The problem is not with the game or direction itself, it is the pure attitude of the gamer. In particular the one group that has placed itself as the know-it-all solo experts of all things Halo is the MLG. The force their opinions and see every other genre of playstyle as insignificant and meaningless. On the other end, you have new gamers who care nothing but for themselves. The oldest community members do not shun or esent anyone. I welcome all gamers equally and only judge upon things they speak about in terms of fact and truth. People who do not care to rally or heal the community are sideline spectators at best. Noone is forcing anyone to.change. I just felt it was my duty as an established and well respected Halo community member, to at least reveal.some basic truths. -
We kinda already do have a hall of fame, MoM. Legendary members I guess is kinda like a rank or title pased down to members who are truley great to this forum and could never be replaced or duplicated in any way. Basically a member who makes or breaks this little home of ours. Ad yes, AD will not likely be returning. And yes I know...I'm still upset and not over it yet myself.

Please don't assume that kids or yonger players are low in thought process or intelligence. Are you implying my son and daughter are inferior in some way? Do you realize how insensative that sounds. Many of our members here are of a younger age, and most of which whom would probably feel insulted. I am asking you kindly, this once, to please respect other members here regardless of age, gender and so on.

No Elites do not carry the same hitboxes as the spartans. Their posture and geometry is at base far different and could not even begin to match the collision area that a spartan has. Remember halo 3 and Halo 2, how some angles of the headshots would not register for elites, but instead would pass thru at the neckline? Had that been a spartan instead, the shot would of went right thru the forehead. Different physics and collision models for both, same a Reach. However, I do think that armor or biped permutations should use a more rigid collision model than one type. Fact is, if you want to wear big bulky armor or spend money on all that extra stuff, you should have to deal with the "making yourself a bigger target" scenario as well. Just my 2 cents.

Decided it was time I stepped in here. First off, you all need to remove yourselves from the pedestal. Everything I have read thus far is simply over-inflated opinion, with no basis for truth or proof there of. Second, telling people they suck in any shape or form is below you. So what if everyone is not as good as you, or they prefer a different style of gaming. Does that make you superior? Now for some of the things I have an issue with.... Ctrl X You, you went on to say that anyone who played Reach for little time, does not know what makes a good Halo game? That lone stement shows your closed view, and your intolorance for anything other than what you deam to be true or "real" in terms of all things Halo. I have been around gaming before Halo, and played every title. I like Reach just as much as any other previous title. In some ways, Reach is superior to the rest. I don't really have time to type it all out for you, but search around for my posts or ask around about me...you'll see or find what I ams aying here. Halo means different things to every single gamer. There is no true or right way to make or break the Halo expereince. The expereince in question along with quality, is purely up to each individual. DragonMonday, I understand your complaints and see where you are going, but there is no need to perpetuate a flame war any further. You said your piece and gave your opinions, now it's time to step aside and take the peacefull road. Replying back to insults or rants will only further fuel the roughness in here. Viva, adapting is what is going on right now. The gaming industry and the way in which we play is right smack dab in the middle of an enormous evolution. Long gone are the days of gameplay of the previous Halo titles, and the same can be said for the previous various other titles we enjoy. A new generation of gamer is now beginning to emerge. And as such, the newest generation must be thought of and nutured the same way we were. Asking people to adapt is not a silly or "retarded" notion. And please watch the mental disability comments..... As for anyone else here who has a problem and has done nothing more than to contribute to this already dead and way off topic post......GET OVER IT. This is why the community is no longer great, and this is why the rest of the gaming world laughs at us. we can't even get along well enough to debate peacefully with eachother. Have any of you read thru this thread fully, and completely absorbed what was said, how it was said and why? Please please please, enough already. Change is happening and it isn't going to stop. You can either choose to move forward and embrace the new gameplay generation of goodness in-store for us, or you can choose to stay back a while and play thru more comfortable expereinces. Either way, you win, and it is neither right or wrong. Lets leave it at that.

Good luck Ashlynn I will miss you. If you happen to stop by PA to tour any colleges in the Deleware County area, stop by California Tortilla in a city called Glen Mills. Fabulous mexican lunch on me!!!

The graphics are far superior. Halo 4 is using an engine with a graphical layer that was already set in stone the moment they compiled the final product engine to begin Alpha and pre Alpha stage testing. You can argue it all you want, but the simple fact is, Halo has always been poor in the particle effect and physics end of the gaming spectrum. The graphical layer of the new CoD will allow.and always will offer more.range and depth of important graphics backend processessing.
-
Actually each title had graphical and partical effect updates, contrary to what may be mentioned. Also, I was being judged as was anyone here who plays CoD. The poster and replyer both called CoD players and people who buy CoD noobs and idiots.

Trust me....this thing would be way over powered. I made an exact concept idea before with a five minute model render and thru it into Halo 2. Because of its high velocity it was made to jave overpenetration....meaning each round cut clear thru vehicles and people. Even toning it down a bit on firing speed and power would still make it a weapon of mass destruction. Just making any weapon use Gause tech, would imply that any setting would be one hit deadly.
