  1. Wow man just wow. I'm still in shock about this. It's like a dream I can't wake up from. For you to suddenly not be here anymore is enough to almost bring me to tears. We have been friends on here for almost the entire length of out time, and I have come to respect you greatly as a Moderator, as a mentor and most of all, as a great friend. I can understand how life sometimes interupts us and requires our full attention so i can relate and appriciate the hard descision you have to make. You will be sorely missed, and I don;t think anyone could ever fill your shoes. Please take great care of yourself and please stay in touch once in a while. I look forward to and miss already, our conversation over live. we really need to do it again sometime when you are not busy. Good bye old friend, may peace and prosperity be with you always! Now that the sad sappy part is done..... I CALL HIS MOD SPOT!!!!!
  2. I've been planning out a way to have an Ipod/Ipad/Iphone/Android app that allows registered users of the site to have a "Shoutbox" only wa y of keeping in touch. basically the app is just a shoutbox connector so you dont have to load the site in explorer or safari, or whatever. I'll keep you guys updated if I decide to take this idea further.
  3. Calling me out huh? Listen boy, there were so many things wrong with just about everything you stated. A cheap trick is something a player uses by exploiting bugs in the programming code to achieve an advantage over another player. BxR and BxB and any amount of multiple projectile shooting is a cheap trick. These things were not meant to happen, and unfortunatly since it's an issue with the core engine it was not patchable, otherwise it would have been. Even Bungie themselves said that button combo exploits were cheating. get a clue. Button combos were easy to pull off, especially with bullet and reticule magnetism. Anyone who pratices it, needs to learn a real way to play. In fact, most servers DO NOT ALLOW this type of combo to be used. Some will allow it in slight moderation, but for the most part they frown on it. There is no skill involved with using it, and anyone who thinks there is, sucks at doing the combo then. I've seen complete new players play Halo 2 for the first time, and just try to use it based on videos they may have seen, and they pull it off perfect without missing. I lost my creditability? Really? So you know me personally? You have known and played with me for years? How about this troll ****, go onto a Monstrmoose server and ask around about me. That will tell you everything you need to know. Halo 3 was just as fast paced as Halo 2. The only thing that made Halo 3 even slightly slower than halo 2 if at all, was the way in which the newer weapons added functioned. The core metrics used to make MM was the same exact settings and values that Halo 2 had. All the player movement and weapon functions were nearly identical and indistiguishable to a non-programmer/modder. You can all say what you want about this topic, but the fact remains that the very definition of a cheap trick or hack applies to button combos. The BxR and all other button combos were not purposely put in or intended. Further, there is no tag definition value that they could use to simulate this effect outside a code bug. The tag system and engine is not setup to allow this type of combo to be a core feature. Get over it and try using some other weapons in the game, there are plenty to choose from.
  4. Wow I need to get on here more often longer...I didn't even see this till now. Thank you so much guys. It's awesome to know that i have helped make this place a real home and overall better for you guys on a daily basis. Thanks again. And congrats to everyone on the list!
  5. I like that idea Derp. It could be done easily enough thru the multiple bsp usage function, but the only issue is, that only players on that particular loaded bsp would be able to interact directly with eachother. Although I doubt they could they could get the server to properly respond to people being on different bsp sections though...who knows? Maybe the new H4 engine has some crazy functions even I never thought of?
  6. Ok, so I know some of us probably have an uber sweet case mod or complete custom case for our Xbox's. Even if it is a special Edition Console we would all like to see it. So I will start off... Partly finished. Still need to install my Talismoon fan and LED's but other than that it came along nicely. The paint got scuffed big time during my move last month so I now need to take it apart and repaint it. Next up, is my Forerunner case mod with the spare case my brother gave me from his RROD console.
  7. I would imagine that since they are using the term "carbine" for it, that it would be an assault, lower powered Cov Carbine. That would be pretty sick, having a Cov carbine that has maybe it's barrel shortened, and the stock parts fattened up a bit to allow a smaller caliber fuel rod slug to fire at fast rates similar to the standard Carbine. Hmmm...I smell a Halo 2 mod coming on...
  8. Well for the perspective of faster gameplay, that relies on everyone having a DMR or fast percission weapon, or the ability to take out the target quickly depending on the weapon you weild. Not everyone likes to play with a DMR all the time. I almost never pickup a DMR and usually opt for a needler or a plasma repeater. Now, I havent played any MLG playlists so I cannot speak from that end of the spectrum. But also the DMR is NOT the only weapon out there. There are many weapons to choose from and all of them have an equal ground to play with via pros and cons. That is the only thing that bugs me about bloom and everyones perspective on it. So many times the game over, people complain about it, yet never just go around and use a different weapon. Why such a love for the DMR/Needle Rifle/Sniper? Where is the love for the non-percission weapons? That is the real issue here. By MLG standards it seems......the percission weapons are the only ones that should be in Halo since it's the only ones that are ever complained about. Please correct me if I have my intel wrong here, but thats the way it seems after going through tons of MLG posts from random players around the web. Where's my ZB Plasma Repeater?!? I can no haz?
  9. For the last time, arguing against bloom is pointless. Everyones perspective of what takes skill vs what you think takes skill is always going to be radically different...there is no real right or wrong way to determine skill. Skill is just that, and it comes in a wide variety of flavors and instances. Also, please keep in mind that reach IS the VERY FIRST TIME we ever had an absolute "0" bloom denominator in effect. That being said, you cannot simply dismiss "bloom" lovers, since they were also people who played Halo 2 and Halo 3, and may have been awesome with the BR. All in all, you all have your own view and I cannot stand seeing you guys argue about it anymore. NOONE IS RIGHT OR WRONG HERE....IT'S ALL PERSPECTIVE AND INDIVIDUAL INSTANCES!!! Bad Boy, you say bloom is less skilled because with ZB, you know for sure where your shots are going, and stray bullets means no room for aiming or firing error. Thats fine. For your playstyle and battle instances this is true to your perspective. As with the others, bloom adding an extra calculation to which your bullet may go, and you can judge, that is fine also. Your both right for your own style and lets just leave it at that. case closed.....hopefully?
  10. Gotta say I'm very dissapointed. All that work they put into recording hours upon hours of recorded weapons on a range, and all we have for a BR is a amplified silenced SMg sound from halo 2?!? The sound may have been muted a bit, but the effect and range of the sound won't be muted nearly as much if it were a more powerful sound. I failed to see any recoil on the weapon. 9 shots in 5 secons should have equated to the weilder having to reposition his reticule much more than he did. From what i saw even slowing it down, there was no apparent recoil. Of coarse, we have no idea how old this footage was that they put in. Likely it wasn't current as the sound sucked and the recoil they SAID the BR would have was not there. That aside, the lighting is top notch. Compared to the previous titles, the lighting angle change was flawless and full. Very impressed with that part.

  13. Funny you posted that. Over at Monstrmoose, the team and I started making Forerunner weapons last year. I have a Plasma Pistol already done like the one from halo legends. You know the one where it has the short looking energy sword beam that comes off of it. And that image you posted above, someone in the team had begun modeling it for use as a Forerunner neural sniper. That reminds me....I need to see what ever happened to that weapon.
  14. Like I said, they are far beyond Alpha stage. Alpha stage is when the engine is completely finihsed and they have prelim assets to begin first wave testing of game handling, physics and collision. Truth is, because they have had development of Halo 4 going on for more than 2 years now, they were way past Alpha stage internally well before christmas last year. THAT is my major gripe with the way it looks in the video. The bump mapping is great, and the detail on the models are phenominal, just everything else is kinda blah. Something anyone else probably didn't notice, was that the reflection in the visor did not move or change in response to the surrounding environment. Which means real time reflections are not present, at least for the multiplayer or third person views anyway. Sad.....RTR (Real-Time Reflections), are soemthing i really wanted to see happen in halo 4.
  15. I think you guys misunderstand the physics involved when it comes to stairs. Stairs have always used an invisible plane over top of them, so that the height of the steps does not effect or stop player movement. Also, grenades do not bounce of stairs without the planes. They tend to just sit or get stuck. Because of physics limitations with things like grenades, they do not bounce or respond well to mutiple collisions of a "stairs" magnitude.
  16. Can't say I'm impressed yet. The idle animations are good, but the movement of the model permutations with the animation looks choppy and stiff. There is no real specualr or environment mapping that I could see on the player models. The map itslef looks like it was fully lit and had all shaders light responses adjusted to be flat and same levels all across it. I know this is early on, but realistically, they are waaaaay past the Alpha stage. Development time left by my estimate is about 6 months. They have to have the final disc or discs, ready to be shipped out for manufacturing roughly around October 11th or 12th. That being said, I highly doubt we will really see a great many changes regarding what we see in any newer videos or press releases. 6 months dev time, is really only enough time to really hand the game over to proper testers and start hammering out the teir 0 bugs (worst bugs), then progressively work from there. Not saying I'm not giving it a chance, just pointing out some observations and opinions. The direction they are heading still looks solid and I have no doubt the game will be fun. Just not visually stunning for me is all.
  17. Good point Timbo. I can't remember if they added invisible collision surfaces to smooth the steps or not in Reach. In a map I just did for H2MT, I didn't use the sloped geometry over my steps, and the nades go all weird, yet your biped can still clim b up the stairs with ease. very weird indeed and an excellent question Timbo. You might wanna post that question up to BS and see if she answers it back. i don't see why letting us know small things like this would be any kind of a security issue.
  18. Please elaborate on what you refer to as "Core or Classic" mechanics. I want to be able to compile information very accurately. Thanks Biggie!
  19. Scrapy!!!! Your here! Finally man! Just so you guys know, Scrapy is a fellow member of the H2MT team from Monstrmoose. make a proper introduction here will yah man! Geeze....
  20. The entire system was retooled. They decompiled the entire Reach engine into basic layers to add and build on. Things such as "Particle Effects" are different than in Reach. Unless you have some pulled tag values from a non-existant .map file that you are getting this from? Particle Physics and Effects are not an easy or mildly entertaining form of visual data to play with nor create. The function fields in which control the flow of particles, color, and shape and size are no joke to play with. What we see in GI is not the final product, nor will 343i show us anything jawdropping out of the gate to a publicized magazine before a VidOC. As for the damage effects and damage responses along with ragdoll physics, this will of coarse be the same. The initial ragdoll response to physics is always going to be the same. The Bipeds are not rigged any differently to allow a wider variation in responses. As for the quality of Physics, Halo has always had top notch physics and collision handling via the great and uber talented people at havok, in which provide the source code to implement the handling. Player movement speed is dictated by fields located in both the globals and biped tags. Things like this are changed easily as well as adjusting the speed of a player holding certain weapons or using certain vehicles. That is a non-issue and will change I assure you. As for general engine use for Halo 4, Reach's engine was the obvious choice in terms of usability, scale and implimentation. Reach's engine along with Megalo, really opened the doors for possabilities we haven't even begun to imagine yet....well at least not the majority of you non-programmers anyway. Reach's engine variant was the best possible starting point going forward with halo 4 and the rest of the new trilogy.
  21. This is not surprising in any way. For christ sake, the biggest news story a mainstream media company like Inside edition could come up with last night, was a "The worlds cleanest Dog", who gets vacuumed! All I could think about was Anthony Sullivan (tv product guy), selling "Pet Vac". lmao laughed my ass off with my wife for a good 30 minutes straight. Let them all laugh at us and accuse video games of terrorism....they'll all come crawling to us when an Alien invasion takes place. We will be ready!!
  22. I love how vicious the books make the jackals out to be. They actually went to say that they were actually smarter at learning languages than the Elites. But yeah, Glasslands is a great read for anyone who hasn't read a single book, or is looking to get into the halo Universe thru a book. I'm more interested in what parangosky has planned for Halsey and the massive amount of Forerunner tech they collected from the Dyson Sphere. Next book is shaping up to be awesome!
  23. Couldnt have said it better myself Director. Also as a side note, we know for a fact that the Elites are not gone, but they are ina great turmoil back at Sanghellos and the warrior class Elites are utterly all but helpless now according to Glasslands, which Frank did say is a part of this new trilogy. So yeah guys, the Eiltes will definatly be back in a big way. Hopefully we will see a sequel to Glasslands sometime in the near future to give us a peek at what may happen in Halo 4, 5 and 6.
  24. Not a problem at all Vaar. it is my personal goal to begin to unite everyone thru honest understanding and trying to bridge the gap between all our sub-culture player forms. Anytime I can help you out in any way, do not hesitate to ask. All i ask is that you spread the kind word to all you know in other forums. Kinda like paying it forward a little
