Halo is what is is today because of the MP. If you want to good single player story then go play Mass Effect. If you actually think that the story is the most important part and MP needs less attention then you need to be slapped. Really hard.
-
And therein, as the Bard would tell us, lies the rub.
-
Uhm Doubles? Standard FFA? I don't always have (actually never) have a party of 4 or more. That's where doubles comes into play. And Doubles was always populated in previous Halo games. I think everyone at 343 is smoking some dope or something.
-
Everyone that paid for the game thinking they were getting a Halo game and is disappointed has the right to come on here or wherever and voice there opinions. Judging by the overwhelming complaints it should be obvious that 343 messed up. There are more people complaining then people praising the game on these forums. They strayed to far away from the core elements of what a Halo game is. If 343 didn't want to hear a bunch of crap about how Halo in now COD then they should not have copied. If you like the game then thats great. Good for you. But ALOT of people who grew up playing Halo CE, 2, and 3 MP are not happy with Halo 4 and they are letting 343 know about it, as they should.
-
I agree with you on the maps. Very disappointing with the Halo 4 maps. The old saying really applies here I think.... They just don't make them like they used too. I miss Midship and Lockout. Thank you. I'm getting older and older. I miss the Halo 2 days when I was in college and all my buddies were playing. I'm 27 now and I don't want to wait around another 3 years for them to bring out another Halo game. Fix Halo 4 NOW. If you work for 343 and have some authority and you are reading this. STOP trying to be like other games. Halo does not need that. The first few Halo games were so innovative. Every other game should have been copying off Halo not the other way around. Your number 1 priority right now should be to get the ranking system out ASAP on the console. Then make the specializations available to everyone at all times (that or just get rid of them), and start every game with even teams. The key recipe here is balance and competitiveness. Get to work.

Thank u 343 for destroying halo 4's online player capacity
rush0024 replied to Lee James Garry's topic in Halo 4
I rest my case again. Maybe one day 343 will wake the up. Without a VISIBLE ranking system on the console Halo 4 MP will die off just like it did in Reach. It's really not a hard concept. You keep the progression unlocking system to reward players who sit around and play the game all day long, and you implement a ranking system similar to what Halo 2 and 3 had (with a quit penalty) to keep the hardcore gamer happy and to keep the game on that competitive level that no game out there has right now, and no game has really had it since Halo 3. -
Well if that's the case that system is broken because I consistently play against players who have played MP twice or even three times more than me, and we typically lose those games. And I understand why sprinting is in the game. It does speed up the game and I don't have any issues with that.
-
Well I have been coming on these forums daily now just to check how people are reacting. There seem to be more people that are making posts that are unhappy with the game, peope who are starting to question the game, and people who are saying the game is too much to COD and that Halo copied vs people who are really happy with the game. I stand by what I said, if changes are not made Halo 4 MP will die off like it did in Reach. And COD will continue to beat Halo every week over XBL.
-
Issac I agree with you. See my thread about what your saying here http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/20395-call-of-halo-breaking-down-how-343-copied/

In time if nothing is changed and Halo keeps going on like this, I think Halo 4 matchmaking will not be very well "regarded" either. COD will keep going this way ------------------------------> Halo will keep going the other way <------------------------------ I could be wrong. Only time will tell. But I do think the online population and matchmaking in Halo 4 will drop off like Halo Reach did. 343... if you want Halo to be special again... stick to what made Halo 1, 2, and 3 so great. Return Halo's MP back to it's roots. Which is a a strong competitive MP that is balanced and fair across the board. Don't worry about COD, let them self destruct in their own problems. Well that does not make for a balanced game. Everyone should have access to all the specializations from day 1. Period. And I've never played against a level 80 because they played the campagn a million times or the OPs. They are a 80 because they have played the MP for 5 days vs 1 day from me. And obviously they are on a higher level of skill than me, and they should be from playing the game all day every day. When I play MP I want to play against players of simliar skill or expierence. That makes the games more competitive and fun. That's how it was in Halo 2 and 3, and that's what is should still be.
-
And you could never elminate quitting mid game. No matter what it's going to happen. But the best way to deal with it is to implement a ranking system, and a harsh penalty for players who quit. Players will think twice before quitting then because they will not want to lose their rank. That's the best solution, not what they are doing now. Joining in progress COULD still be used in a ranking system, although I don't think it would be needed. But games need to start even always. And joining in progress should only happen early in the game, not half way through or when the game is almost over.
-
Not claiming that COD invented anything. But your argument on that point doesnt discredit that FACT that Halo has copied off COD. Weather they were all COD's ideas or not it doesn't change anything. I understand that games copy off one another. But Halo wasn't some no name unsucessful game that needed a bunch of changes to compete. Halo was it's own game and was extrmelely successful in it's own way. It needed to keep the core structure that made the earlier games so special. They did not do this. Not saying they should have just keep everything the same and not changed anything. There are plenty of ways to evolve the game and to add to features to keep the game fresh but to also keep the structure in place. And where is this skill ranking system in Halo 4 your talking about? Halo 4 has a progression XP system. Which means you earn XP no matter what. You never lose XP. It's not a ranking system man.
-
Never clamied that they did. What does make the game unbalanced is the following... 1. Perks 2. Special abilities that are not available to all players (Spercializations) 3. The so called matchmaking system that makes players play against other players that have played the game 3 times as much that have a way higher XP level. 4. Starting games uneven, having games finish uneven because players quitting to due no penalty. I rarley have a party of four or more so this is the case alot epecially if we are losing later in the games.
-
Oh so you like having unbalanced gameplay and starting games uneven and having players quit and join constantly during games and having no rank to play for. Whatever. Cool man, that s interesting theory. Now STFU. Actually your wrong. I have played COD from time to time. But I am huge fan of the previos Halo games. I used to be a die hard Halo fan. Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 are all three are among my favorite video games I've ever played. COD was not even close to being on the same level as Halo 2 and 3 was.
-
If it's bad then it would not be the best selling console game in the world. Theres no way you can justifiy saying that giving how popular and successful it is. And if it's bad then why is Halo copying off it it? Halo was it's own game. Was nothing like COD and did not need to copy of anything.
-
I'll tell you want it is. It's a lazy attempt to silence alllllllllllll the people who were complaining pre launch about no ranking system. Nothing more nothing less. It doens't fly for me.
-
Everything in this world is about money buddy. And how companies can make the most of it and be be the most relevant. You can keep defending this game all you want and say it's evolved and has not copied to stay competitive. What I'm saying is reality.
-
And yes I do know about the so called ranking system update. If it's not on the console then it doens't even count. I don't wamt to have to get on the PC or launch the Waypoint thing to look at ranks. So thats already a failure.
-
I didn't want any of that stuff. And neither does anyone else that I know that plays Halo. Some people may have wanted some of that stuff in the game, but that is not why they put it in. COD is the biggest console game in the world. It dethroned Halo some time back as the king of FPS world in sales and over XBL, and it has been destoying Halo ever since. In order to compete with COD, Halo has copied. That is a fact. It's all about money, and how they think they can make the most amount of money with their game. All that stuff works for COD, it does not work for Halo. It's really about selling to the casual gamer. There are more casual gamers than hardcore gamers who want a very competitive game. By elimating a ranking system, and putting in a XP progression system with unlocks makes causal gamers happy. I'm not a casual gamer. I want a ranking system, and I want things to be on a fair playing field. So in conclusion, the reason why Halo 4 is what it is now, is because the success of COD, and because they think they can make more money by making a game that suits the casual gamer.

All of the following are standard features that the COD series has been using, or not been using. Most of them have been in the games since Modern Warefare back in 2007. Custom Loadouts COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Instant Respawn COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Perks COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Individual Perks Copied COD Slight of Hand - Halo 4 Dexterity COD Extreme Conditioning - Halo 4 Mobility COD Overkill - Halo 4 Firepower COD ability to change care packages - Halo 4 Tracker Theres probably more but I'm moving on... Ranking System COD - No Halo CE - DNQ Halo 2 - Yes Halo 3 - Yes Halo Reach - Yes (I'm counting Arena) Halo 4 - No Weapon unlocking system COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Join in progress COD - Yes Halo CE - DNQ Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Starting Games Uneven COD - Yes Halo CE - DNQ Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Kill Cam COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes No Friendly Fire COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Weapon Drops (Care Packages/Ordinance) COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes Default Sprinting COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - No Halo 4 - Yes XP Progression System COD - Yes Halo CE - No Halo 2 - No Halo 3 - No Halo Reach - Yes Halo 4 - Yes Anyone got anything else to add? I came up with 16 direct things that Halo 4 has copied off COD. I'm sure there is more. The more I play the game, the more I realized how bad it is. There is nothing to play for because there is no ranking sytem. There is no penalty for quiting so there are players constantly coming and going, games are constantly being started with uneven teams. This is not fun. I have like 15 Sparton Points and what am I suppossed to do with them? That was very poorly designed. Almost every game I am playing players that have played the game 2 times or even 3 times more than me. And since I did not get any special editions of the game, I can not get any of the other specializations that other players are using. So I am a level 47, and I constantly am playing against players who have special perks that I don't have any access too. That is not fair. Halo was built on being competitive and balanced with all players being equal. No one has any advatage over the other. It all comes down skill and teamwork. NOTHING ELSE. The core elements that made Halo so special are no longer present. This is Call of Halo. Also if your going to add a killcam, at least make it worth properly. The killcam is a joke and just needs to be removed. Do they not test this stuff before they launced the game? I have not seen 1 killcam where the player who was shooting me actually shot me in the killcam. That doesn't happen in COD. The only thing that happens when I watch the kill came is get pissed off because of how awful it is. Just take it out for the love of god. Only one thing to say to 343, and I am quoting Bill Madison. 343...I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your souls. This game did not evolve. I don't want to kee hearing that crap. This game copied of COD. Not only did they copy of COD does right, but they also coped of what COD does WRONG.

Well said my friend. Give this game 1 year, don't change anything that I mentioned. Bring back Halo 2 on the 360. Don't change a thing except updated HD graphics. Halo 2 will have more players online playing than Halo 4. MLG would take it back in. It would blow up AGAIN and would prove why it was the best game in the Halo series. The core structure of that game is no longer present in Halo 4 and that is the big problem. Some people just don't get that. That's how good Halo 2 was. Even though it doesn't exist anymore, just the thought of it coming back and playing with all my friends trying to level up excites me more than any game in Halo 4 was given me.

It can shoot far -- for a secondary starting weapon 1 shot pistol. It's shoots way to far. The bolt shot could possibly be considered a great weapon if it was not a starting weapon. There are a ton of close quarters combat in Halo, especially when playing infinity slayer on the smaller maps. And four of the power weapons require you to get extremely close for the kill (Shotty, Scatter, Sword, Hammer). Well within range of the bolt shots 1 shot kill. Halo did not evolve into this, it was a transformation because of the success of Call of Duty. I'm not proposing that Halo remained the same after Halo 2, I'm saying they should of stayed true to it's core roots. It's not like they rolled out another Halo game after Halo 2 year after year and were all like Halo 2. No one got tired of anything. After Halo 3, they could of came up with creative features and ways to play while keeping certain structure's in place that made Halo 2 so successful and great. You can have all the different load outs and new weapons and certain abilities, that's all fine and dandy and keeps the game fresh. But Halo needs to be fair and competitive. It is neither. Every person should have access to all the weapons and load outs and abilities from day one. Also the game is not competitive because there is no ranking system. A ranking system does four things 1. Gives players a challenge that makes every single game more meaningful and important. 2. Prevents players from quitting because a true ranking system will penalize players who quit and they will not want to lose their ranks for not finishing the game. 3. Encourages players to form teams and to use team work, especially to achieve a high rank. 4. Pairs players up against other players of similar skill, so players who have played the game for a few hours don't have to play against players who have played the game for 5 days. You believe Halo 4 has stuck to it's roots? Are you serious? The only thing Halo 4 has done is copy of COD to try to compete with it, and that is a fact.

It's sad that one gun is ruining this game. I'm this close to just getting COD, and once that happens there's really no turning back for me. This game could be soooo much better than it is. Why the Bolt Shot is as powerful as it is and is a starting weapon is beyond me. It has ruined the game for me at this point. There are two options that I see for 343. Either remove it from a secondary weapon, or make it less powerful with less range. And this needs to happen ASAP because I'm not going to wait around for months for this to get done. But even when and if that is fixed, this game, which really should just be called Call of Halo, sill has a ton of flaws. And anyone that wants to sit here and argue with me that Halo has not copied off COD can GTFO. In order for Halo to be Halo again, and to be a great game like H1, H2, and H3 was, this is what needs to happen... - Fix Bolt Shot problem - Implement a ranking system that is visible on the console not just on waypoint, while keeping the progression system in tact for unlocking stuff to keep the people who play the game non stop to feel good about themselves. - Never let a game start uneven. No excuse for that. - Implement a penalty for when people quit out of games - Bring back clan matches - Bring back Double Team (Blows my mind that this was not included at launch) - Bring back a traditional FFA playlits - Eliminate join in progress after a certain point early in the game, or get rid of it altogether I usually only have 1 to 2 friends on playing at a time. So let me explain to you my experiences playing with my one friend the last few nights. We play infinity slayer, it starts the game three and one. After a minute, the other team gains 3 players and leaves us with three. I constantly get killed by bolt shots, even when I have a power weapon like a sword or a hammer, and when I do kill people it's usually only because I dodged it or he missed. The third teammate quits because there is no penalty and he doesn't give a crap. It then leaves us two on four for most of the game until someone else joins when the game is almost over and then instantly quits once he sees we are being dominated. THIS IS NOT FUN AND IS NOT THE MAKEUP OF A GREAT GAME. IF YOU WANT TO COPY OF WHAT COD DOES RIGHT THEN FINE BUT DONT COPY ALL THE DUMB CRAP THAT THEY DO WRONG. Halo was built on being a competitive and fair game, meaning no person had any advantages over the other. Not the case anymore. People now have all these special perks just because they have more time to play the game. Halo should have stayed true to it's roots. The actual gameplay minus the bolt shot is good and fun. But gameplay is not everything. The setup and structure means a lot to me, as well as other people that I know that play this game, and that is something Halo 2 mastered. Everything that Bungie did with Halo 2 was innovative. Why and how they just didn't build off what they had is beyond me. If the bolt shot is fixed tomorrow then I will play the game again and have fun with it. But the game will not be special like Halo 2 was. When Halo 2 was out I would plan my day around playing it and so would all my friends. It was something I looked forward to every day for years. It was always fun and it was always a challenge to build your ranks. It was the most addicting game I've ever played. The ups and downs and frustration and excitement. Halo 4 does not touch that.
