Gamer Tag: CrimsonVolver Name of Map: Vanguard on Impact, Halo 4 Supported Gametypes: Team Banshee, Banshee KOTH, Oddball, All Slayer gametypes including ordinances, CTF, Regicide, Flood Customized Gametypes in Fileshare: Team Banshee, Banshee KOTH, Oddball on Vanguard (Suggest increasing sensor range to 25 for other gametypes that use radar) Player Count: 12-16 Vehichles on map: 8 Banshees Description: This map has been in the works since December 2012; The concept for this map revolves around the idea that this was once a Covenant Forward base in the early years of the first wars. It was abandoned and taken over by UNSC forces. There is a dome-shaped platform in the center, and two bases linked by man cannons on opposing sides. The Vanguard dome is completely playable, even without Banshees. In these cases you can have 4v4 as long as players seek to engage each other, rather than camping out in the bases. The map within the dome is vertical, with man cannon lifts and ramped bridges leading from top to bottom, and a little investigating will find several unique and not-so-obvious pathways from the top to the bottom, particularly near the Red and Blue platforms inside the dome, where there are two (each) drop ins that take players to the lower hall. There are other Banshee-themed gametypes as well. KOTH is set up with the KOTH hills preset to lower gravity for jep packing players to launch into the hill and try to disable or hijack enemy banshees. Of course, this is also opportunities for banshee-driving players to get vehicle kills or splatters. SWAT plays well on here, no vehicles of course. I wish Oddball allowed players in vehicles to pick up the ball, but alas, not possible. As this map is in Impact, there are several skill jumps, esp to the center of the map, which means failed jumps can lead to a trip into the abyss, so be careful. I have spent literally hours upon hours inside this map, and at one point because of a glitch with the Forge I had to almost completely start over—but I am not unhappy with the end result. I have made dozens of maps over the years, going back to Halo 3 when merging objects was still just a glitch, so I hope you can tell by this map that I am an experienced forger, though admittedly most of my maps are simply enjoyed in Custom Games with friends, though I have submitted maps to contests like “Meet Your Maker,” and Forgetacular back with Reach. I am taking my forging a little bit more seriously these days, so you will be seeing more of my maps posted to this forge group as well as in other forge communities. I have two other maps that have the conceptual architecture finished, but need playtests, feedback, and refined weapon layouts and spawning. CrimsonVolver

Hey folks, Now, before I get started, this is not a post where I rip 343i a new bunhole over stupid imaginary issues. I am a Halo fan, die hard, and I happen to really enjoy Halo 4. That said.... I am also a forger, and therefore a custom gamer. (i.e I like to create custom multiple gametypes to go along with my maps. What I have noticed is that there is a whole swath of gametypes categorized underneath Slayer, but this is only half of the issue. The first half is this: When I create a new gametype, such as Team Banshee, my objects, spawning and other advanced options should read "Team Banshee," not Slayer. The problem here is fundamental. If I create a very specific gametype, like team banshee, I would like to have the objects and spawns specifict that that custom gametype. So, for example, if I create "Team Banshee," I should see Team Banshee (rather than Slayer or any other gametype) appear in the sub texts. Right now if I create a map that needs some creative spawn placement or objects within slayer, than all slayer gametypes have that modification. So, the problem arises when you create a custom Slayer gametype and need specific spawns and/or objects. This is crucial when creating custom variations of certain gametypes, like infinity. My example comes from a map I am making where I would love to have a custom slayer varient called Team Slayer, but have other Slayer varients that are not dictated by the settings for spawns fo objects that I set up within the gametype. I want to have Team Slayer, but also Infinity slayer and other slayer gametypes that are specifically different. So, my plead to 343 is, PLEASE MAKE IT TO WHERE CUSTOM GAMETYPES ARE TRULY CUSTOMIZED. Each gametype should be completely unique, in all ways. I hope this makes sense to some people. What are your thoughts? CV

This will be a Halo 4 Lobby.

I will be hosting an open lobby for map testing/custom games tonight @ 9pm. All are welcome. Read rules below: Map testing is ordered by first come first serve. If you have more than one map, second map in second round. One map per person per testing round. When your map has been played pass party back to host (me, CrimsonVolver) After each test there will be a polite discussion of pros/cons, etc. Emphasis on polite. We want a full lobby. For small /medium maps extra players will be golden tourists and stay out of fight. In this case we can do multiple short games and take turns. If needed we can have someone host second lobby if more than 16 players. As a respect to others don't leave after your map is tested. And if you need to leave communicate to the group and try to help invite someone to fill spot. Respect the host. As the host I can ask for party leader at any reasonable time, esp to resolve conflicts. That's about it. Send me a msg on xbl. I will add friend and invite. Or just join. See you tonight! I hear what you are saying. I agree. I think going to the Lekgolo home planet would be full of new and interesting possibilities.

Very true. I suppose as a side game would not work well, but perhaps open as a way to introduce new foes to fight down the road? I don't know. I have learned a lot from the contributions of others. I have not read any of the books, though I flipped through the Halo Encyclopedia once. I'm thinking I might check out the books. After all, I have played the game for ten years; I should know more than I do. CV

My opinion on Forge Island and the community in general
CrimsonVolver replied to Jack Of Harts's topic in Forge Discussion
Thanks Juan. You can add me. I am always looking for custom game lobbies to test and critique mine and other maps. GT CrimsonVolver. CV :wallbash: PS Post this in some of the other forum topics, like game invites and other Forge topics, plus start a new post. -
Thanks Bacon. I'm surprised at how much I don't know about Halo considering how long I've played it. CV

forge island broke.... birth of the bog
CrimsonVolver replied to Sinister King's topic in Forge Discussion
Equinoxofthesun and I forged a MP together inside the large island last night. Good for 2v2. I have some fun plans for inside small island. CV -
I was reading on a fan wiki the other day that the worms can choose other collective forms, so seems very likely that it could be done. CV

I will. Mine is the same. My Slim just arrived. Interestingly enough, I just found out it was not my old xbox, but the hdmi video on my flat screen. I hooked up my slim and got the same "no signal" message. Hooked up my bedroom flatscreen and viola, both xboxs work, but I like the quietness of the slim so I am transferring all of my Halo 4 data from the old 360 external harddrive to a usb storage, and will transfer all data to the slim memory. I ordered a 320 gb internal harddrive, but will use the other memory in the meantime. My XBL GT is the same as this one too. I will add once I have the whole process completed. I need to get the tv repaired now I guess, unless it is too expensive, we will just buy a new one. CV

I used to, but after the registry glitch (which is when you go to load a map and it loads a different map of a different name). This is especially frustrating if you have not put the map up in the fileshare. I have also learned it is better to rename the file each time you upload to fileshare, so I just name it the name plus v1, v2 etc until I have the final version, than it is just the name. I am meticulous with my maps, so when I have to start over I am not very happy. But who would be, right? CV

That could be cool. You can repair vehicles in Battlefield if you are en engineer. CV

@Squally You are busy. I learned the hard way to stick to one project at a time long ago due to the occasional registry glitch. But that is just me. I tend to live in one map at a time. CV

Hopefully I will have new Xbox by than. CV

When I am back on xbl when new 360 arrives we can party u in forge, give each other feedback. CV

Puzzle Play Testers Needed; Saw is Back
CrimsonVolver replied to Gamer720's topic in Forge Discussion
I'm waiting for a 360 Slim--my old 360 was an original (albeit refurbished by Microsoft--my fourth one--I had a few years there a while back where my xbox was dying every six months). Trying to wait patiently. CV :wallbash: -
I know. Can't wait till my new xbox is set up. Old one blew up. CV :wallbash:
