Me too, but like I said, it is not impossible to think that 343i can't patch this in in a future update. Battlefield 3 does some major patches with updates to it's online multiplayer experience all the time based on community feedback. CV

That's what I take out of it. CV

Thanks. One thing that seems to have solved it for me (for now) is I was using Chrome, and decided tonight to switch to Firefox. So far I have not been logged out. It was happening so often with Chrome I was about to give up trying to post to the forums. Really frustrating to compose a response or an original post, and find out you were not logged in (even though you were) and have the post deleted. I was starting to copy the post before posting to ensure that if this thing happened I could just paste and post after re-logging in. So, I guess the question to ask is what browser are people using who are having this happen to them? CV

Yes, simply because if you remember the storyline with Halo 4 there is a part where they talk about how Cortana is unique, which is why she lasted so long. So the question is whether she dies, or EVOLVES. I think it can be done. As I have said in other threads, think about Jane from Ender's Game (well, technically Speaker for the Dead and beyond). It would not be fan pleasing because they left the possibility open within the storyline with Halo 4 as I recall. CV

FLOOD Flood/promethean hybrids (humans enhanced with Forerunner and/or flood to create super soldier. In my mind in Halo 5 based on the end campaign movie the UNSC unlocks Forerunner techology that created the Flood and Prometheans. This would provide a whole array of new enemy types, new weapons, new armor abilities, vehicles, gametypes and Spartan Ops story ideas). Prometheans, new Promethean weapons, vehicles and enemies. Arbiter and friendly eliites Master Chief and Cortana in some "evolved" form. (Take Jane from the Ender Wiggens series by Orson Scott Card. He was created by the Hive Queen to keep Ender from destroying the Buggers, but failed, and later on she grew on her own and became sentient and was attached to Ender emotionally. Cortana could evolve and make a slow return throughout the campaign. I have more Halo 5 ideas, but this is a mere Five(ish). CV

The Official What You Do and Do Not want in Halo 5 Thread
CrimsonVolver replied to SatanicBagels's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
Yes, I agree. Different armor types should yield certain pros and cons. Light armor would allow for quicker reflexes, faster movement, stealth, etc. Heavier armor might slow you down, but you would be harder to kill, etc. You could pick different armor types to suit your prefs, which would be a mixture. Some might want heavy armor all around, while others might seek light armor, while others would pick light and heavy armor for different body areas. CV Great list of thoughtful suggetions for Halo 5. CV -
This is a really smart idea, and a great way to infuse more H4 maps without the high expectations of creating maps from scratch. It can't be all that hard since multiplayer maps are used in Spartan Ops, and in Reach campaign areas were used as maps in Multiplayer. I would hope that they would at least include a selection of map-specific objects such as with impact and erosion. CV

Forge objects I would like. New ones, that is.
CrimsonVolver replied to BaconShelf's topic in Forge Discussion
Do you mean one object that can have the dimensions adjusted by the user? Interesting thought. CV -
Forge objects I would like. New ones, that is.
CrimsonVolver replied to BaconShelf's topic in Forge Discussion
First, I think H5 should have a whole new library of objects, because I am tired of the recycled Reach objects. Second, I wish the Natural category included more rocks, and trees/shrubs. I would like to see a light bridge available with the option to expand the width/length. This would be done with the object Shape selection. I also wish objects could have the object shape tool customized to be safe/kill zones. This would be esp important with certain maps, such as rounded dome shaped maps. More blocks and other shapes More bridges/platforms More buildings more ramps Just more of everything. And bring back precision editing and zoom while holding objects please! CV -
Dear 343i, Among other things that need to be fixed, such as the fileshare issue, why is it that twice now in the last 30 minutes I have been logged out in the middle of composing quick replies to forum topics? This is annoying, because if I did not happen to copy the text, I lose it all. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? Makes me NOT want to post to the forums. Deeply frustrated right now. CrimsonVolver.

I think precision editing introduced with Reach as well as the zoom feature used while holding objects (we can zoom when not holding objects? WTH) are the only two things that are missing with this forge, which sucks. Precision editing would be great with those instances when coordinates are too bulky and the magnets just won't help; zoom works when the Forge pushes the monitor far out, such as with forging in tight spaces, and the two functions combined made forging much better as well. 343i could easily put up an update with Forge patches included--it is not unheard of. In fact, they could include other suggested updates in the patch suggested by myself and other Forgers in these forums--but I don't really expect it--they have yet to connect the XBL Halo 4 fileshare with the 343i accounts. That would be a nice thing to have too. WTH is the hold up 343i? Battlefield 3 uploads major patches every time it releases a new map pack. This Forge is much better in many regards, aside from these two issues, and the recycling of objects from Reach, which annoys me. You would think by now that the Forge would include all the vast improvements it is capable of--improvements that the community have been requesting for years. CV

I am working (almost finished) on a dome-shaped map in Impact, and it occurred to me that it would be so much easier to keep people from camping out on the top of the map (the rounded roof) if object "shapes" could be defined as safe/kill zones. Think about it. This simple upgrade with the Forge would make aesthetically designed or rounded maps more practical in terms of blocking players from exploiting "holes" in the design. As a veteran Forger it can be frustrating when you come up with a unique map design but have to use multiple soft kill zones to keep players from exploiting certain areas. On a similar note it would also be nice if the "shape" tool in object editing could also be designated with other object qualities, such as teleporters ( to create false walls to hidden passages, as one example. I have plenty of other suggestions for Forge upgrades that I have mentioned in forum posts with 343i and Bungie with Reach and H3, but this idea just occurred to me the other day and I thought I would share it and see what kind of feedback it receives. CV

That is not evidence. That is a H4 map. I would not mind a larger forgeworld like map, though I would ask for something fresh and new, not the same forgeworld as in Reach. I would prefer a map template the size of Forgeworld, but with an entirely new fleshed out object library. In fact, it would not only be nice if H5 had all new objects, but if each map had a complete unique variety of objects. That, and bring back precision editing and zoom!

Halo 5 needs Flood that People wont B*tch about
CrimsonVolver replied to Backdemon's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
I like this idea, and I have been thinking, partly based on the storyline from H4, that the Flood could/Should appear in H5, but perhaps because the UNSC has unlocked Forerunner technologies that they used to create Flood/Prometheans, etc. I have also made the suggestion in other posts that the Flood should return, and I want Halo 5 to be dark and scary. The way I imagine the H5 storyline is it will have a lot to do with John 117 finding his humanity and discovering throughout the campaign that the UNSC has unlocked Flood technology and is experimenting with bioweaponry, a super-soldier (as they hint in H4 that the spartans are irrelevant and hint that they have something better. H5 will likely include the Flood, as well as a new breed of super soldiers pumped up on Flood juice. So Master Chief will have to fight individual and groups of these Super Soldiers, as well as Flood (as perhaps deep inside the UNSC testing facility the Flood have escaped containment). Think of 1. Wolfenstein 3D meets Aliens meets Resident Evil. I would like the story to begin with John 117 going on a mission that leads him back to his suit and Cortana. He should have some close calls before he reaches his suit with Flood or humans bio-enhanced by Flood juice. (And, now you can add Flood Armor Abilities, and new weapons, hmmm.) Remember the part of the First Chapter in H4 where the ship is falling apart and there are Elites jumping at you as you climb up a wall and avoid falling objects? Think of that, but with Flood, with slowed sequences where you can shoot and lob grenades. OK, rambled on long enough. CV- 91 replies

Found a funny glitch in top of large pillar in Erosion
CrimsonVolver replied to CrimsonVolver's topic in Forge Discussion
No problem. I will include pics and coordinates with anything I come across while forging. I used to break into closed areas all the time in Halo 3 and Reach. This is just (I think) an area that was mistakenly not textured. In other words, someone did not complete their job. But, it is visually interesting. CV -
Found a funny glitch in top of large pillar in Erosion

yes, after I finish this game of SWAT. Here is the coordinates and a snapshot: https://twitter.com/MichaelAgnostic/status/310603773875736576/photo/1 https://twitter.com/MichaelAgnostic/status/310602399901433857/photo/1 -
I am currently making another map in Erosion up on the ceiling. I noticed what looked like a care in the top of the pillar, but upon closer inspection it is actually a spot that is not textured, and you can fly through it in monitor mode and fly inside the pillar. I set up a 5x5 block and shot my DMR at the structures I am creating. There is additional untextured areas above the eye-like hole. Just thought I would share this for Forge enthusiasts. CV

The Official What You Do and Do Not want in Halo 5 Thread
CrimsonVolver replied to SatanicBagels's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
My requests are simple: 1. I like the addition of loadouts and improved customization with armor abilities. 2. Include all weapons in Multiplayer that have been in all Halo Games, UNSC/Covenant/Forerunner. Also all vehicles 3. New Weapons/vehicles. Games like Battlefield are heavy in weapons and vehicles, which gives players a greater selection and increased personal preference. 4. Weapons with single shot and semi-auto selection. 5. Scope attachments, including night optics. 6. Bring back the Flood, perhaps (as hinted in H4 campaign and multiplayer gametype Flood) as a UNSC military experiment in bio-warfare gone wrong. Bring back the Flood! 7. Elite Slayer, Promethean Knight Slayer in multiplayer 8. Able to customize Elite, Promethean Knight (and even Flood) in comparable ways Spartans are customized. Knights would have weapons/armor abilities as in the campaign and a new Flood Playlist with players able to customize Flood character with weapons/Armor abilities, etc. 9. Continue Spartan Ops (as others have stated, Spartan Ops is Firefight, but better conceived). 10. FORGE: a. Bring back precision editing please as in Reach; b. Completely gut and re-imagine forge objects, or at the very lease, add more (blocks, decorations, ramps, buildings, etc. ramped platforms/stairs need to have mirrors for symmetrical map building); c. Improve coloring and add ability to add/change textures on objects; d. add spherical shape to objects (esp safe/kill zones); e. add ability to modify armor abilities with trait zones. 11. Custom Games: Improve customization options and bring back vampirism so I can bring back VLG. 12. Lastly, I want Halo 5 to be dark, really really dark, like Doom 3 or the original wolfenstein 3-d game, one of the first 3-d fps games (now you know how old I am) (or hell, like Halo CE as the Flood are introduced). I feel like in H5 John 117 must be on a journey of discovery and delves into the activities of the UNSC science team who are found to be messing with Forerunner technology and Flood/Promethean genetics for bio-weaponry). I can go on, but this is just the basics. CV -
Idea for a new Armour Ability: Promethean Jump
CrimsonVolver replied to RedStarRocket91's topic in Halo 4
Seven things: First, I really like this Armor Ability idea, and I have had the same thought while playing Spartan Ops of Campaign. What I would add to this to help it not be overpowered would be the player would need to set up his teleporter spawn location, or more simply when they set up the spawn location there would be something visible for say 20-30 seconds. This would keep it vulnerable and so placement of it would be strategic. You would not just drop the spawn point on the middle of a well traveled path. And, this would level the playing field because if you are hunting someone with this armor ability (an ability in Flood too?) it would give you the incentive to be hyper-aware of your surroundings, because if the enemy manages to teleport you know they set down a beacon somewhere (two beacons can be hunted: the sender and the receiver. The sender beacon would last less than the receiver, maybe be only 5 seconds of vulnerability. Second, There is yet another Promethean Abilty: The one that is in a way similar to thrust packs, but it is more of a shimmering similar to several teleportations a second as the knight approaches. But I think what it really is is the Knight can slow down time, which explains how when they rush you like this you feel like your response is sluggish. So, this would be another interesting idea for a new Armor Ability. Fourth, We should be able to deploy Watchers in multiplayer. That would be sick. Fifth: Knights can jump large heights in addition to teleporting. Six: we should be able to pick up a Knight Sword. Seventh and finally: A Flood like gametype with Knights instead of Flood, and a variant that is a reversal of the traditional Flood notion, of infection, and have one where killing Flood creates more Spartans. Starts with one or two Spartan against 14 or 15 Flood, until in the end 15 hunt one Flood. -
My hope is that in Season TWO we re-encounter The Flood, and in ways that hint at what H5 will be (which I frankly hope H5 will be the darkest Halo to date, Flood and all). Based on the storyline in H4 and the Flood gametype on multiplayer, I am sure we will see the return of a Flood-like cast of characters. It would seem the UNSC has developed a new super soldier, and you get the hint that all the Spartans are being retired. And it is apparent to me that John 117 is going to be facing the darkness with loosing the armor and Cortana. (I think she will be in H5 as well, as hinted or foreshadowed in the H4 storyline, that she is unique. think she evolves, like Jane in the Ender's Game Saga by Scott Card. So, I think John 117 is not gone, and there will be a unique journey for him in the next chapter.) What I love most about Halo is that is very cleverly integrates ideas from several pop culture medias (film, science fiction novels). When I first played Halo I saw hints of Predators in the Elites and Aliens in the Flood and the Flood parasites, the Marines, the architecture. And Jane is a good model from which I hope 343i will bring back Cortana. Read Ender's Game!

SWAT do u not think DMR and BR should be made seperate?
CrimsonVolver replied to paulic83's topic in Halo 4
I agree. I usually do the same thing, choosing the BR for close/medium and DMR for medium/long. I agree with the comment that both rifles should not be in the same game--it is a gross perversion of what SWAT has always been about: Hardcore, mastery of a single rifle, like Snipers. My favorite gametype is SWAT and I play it a lot even though I hate both DMR or BR as loadout choices in single match. I exploit it to my advantage, but that is what makes SWAT challenging: mastery of a single weapon, no choice, just infinite bullets. I like the other choices, like SWATguns and pistols. I'd like to play an incineration cannon SWAT variant, just for fun, or SwatRAILGUNS. What I am saying is SWAT has certain unwritten rules, or unspoken. You just know the culture. (Besides H4 I also play Battlefield3, which is amazing in a completely different way. I play BF3 for the objective games, GUN Master and the vehicles and level of destruction that can happen to the maps.) So, thanks to the original post. This is a hot button issue for me. I hope 343i can make the simple choice to keep BR/DMR as two separate gametypes in SWAT. Honestly I like the BR still in SWAT. But the 3 to 1 difference is unbalanced. Now, just to make things even more complicated: Why not a SWAT variant that is BR vs DMR, one team has DMR, the other BR....hmmm CV
