Well, I don't really know what Drop Recon has to do with being an Engineer, but the Tracker getting Requistion makes sense. Going by the official description of the Tracker ; "Spartan optimization for long range target tracking [trans-continent and off-world]. particularly in scenarios where conventional tracking has failed or such a substantial time has passed that the trail has gone cold.", it would make sense that they would be able to "request" ordnance since they could potentially be stuck somewhere for a long time and would run out of supplies.

Well, I still like the specialization regardless since it does help me more often than it screws me, but I agree that it needs to be patched.

The series certainly has gone downhill after Halo 2, but the later installments have still been good enough to provide some decent amusement. I'm glad you're enjoying the game and welcome to the community.

Possibly Halo 2's when duel-wielding it with the Plasma Pistol's super homing overcharge shots that could turn corners. Fire off a PP bolt with one trigger than a headshot from the Magnum with the other trigger. Target neutralized in under two seconds.

WAYYYYY too many vehicles...not even fun!!
Forlorn Penguin replied to threebetbrett's topic in Halo 4
I agree that there are a lot of unnecessary vehicles in here, but that's been a problem with Halo since forever and is not new to Halo 4. Halo 4 didn't help the situation by adding the Mantis though. The only vehicles we actually need are the Warthog and the Mongoose so that we may deliver our flag/bomb carriers across the map. The Banshee being there is acceptable, but only without it's missile, like in Halo 2. Of course the old lock-on feature of the rocket launcher from Halo 2 needs to return as well. The tanks are unnecessary overkill and the Mantis and Ghost both serve no purpose and should not be there at all. It doesn't ruin the game for me and it never has, but it certainly would be better without all of that crap. -
Okay, thanks. I figured as much. It's pretty dumb with the jip system being there, but whatever. I'm going to assume that it does since the game likely logs a disconnect as quitting.

Getting points for stealing enemy ordnance
Forlorn Penguin replied to Amjad Muhammad Nasir's topic in Halo 4
Ha ha. I've yet to steal enemy ordnance, or have mine stolen by an enemy. -
Anyone know if it does? My win % is at something like 45% (I mostly play with randoms as I don't know many Halo players), but it doesn't feel like I lose that much. However I have quit a rather large number of games due to jip throwing me into hopeless matches where I figure I'll just save myself some time and quit instead of playing through it. Thanks to this thread that won't happen anymore, but I want to know if the games I've quit counted as a loss.

Getting points for stealing enemy ordnance
Forlorn Penguin replied to Amjad Muhammad Nasir's topic in Halo 4
I'd support getting 5 points and a medal for stealling an opponent's ordnance. You do already get a medal for killing the player who stole your ordnance though. It's called Vengence, but I don't know how much it's worth. -
I tend to mostly get garbage in my ordnance drops regardless of my position in the match. That's why Tracker was the first specialization that I chose. Now I usually get at least one decent thing, like a SAW, after requesting new ordnance. It sucks though when I still get Pulse Grenades/Needler/Speed Boost, then refresh and get Plasma Grenades/Needler/Speed Boost.

That's pretty nice, ha ha.

The existing specialization pack will definitely be available to everyone eventually, but it's anyone's guess as to whether or not it'll be free. Hopefully it will be. As for releasing brand new specializations later, who knows? It'd be great though since the road to SR130 is a very short one and having more to work for would certainly make the game a little more enjoyable.

Wow. This is very helpful. I already figured out by myself that seeing actual gamertags instead of "Incoming" meant you're getting into a jip game, but I can't leave because bressing B to go back doesn't work for some reason. Thanks a lot, TC.
-
Yeah, I think Reach had the best selection of armor.
-
I've never seen most of the ones in the "OTHERS" section. That's a cool list of all the emblems. Thanks for the link, TC. Some of those specialization specific emblems are listed in the wrong specialization though. For example, the first Stalker emblem is actually a Traker emblem and the first Rogue emblem is actually an Engineer emblem.

I've never experienced or heard of this, but I think it has to do with your Xbox. It's definitley not the game if three different copies have done it.
-
Damn, those were pretty crazy. Great vid. Also note how the shot that earns a double headshot sniper kill only actually hits one of the victims and it doesn't even hit him in the head. Awesome hit detection.
-
I almost never saw them in Halo 2 because of their disadvantage. I rarely ever saw them in Halo 3 either, even though the issue was resovled. I'd love it if they brought them back for Halo 5, but from my experience, it seems like the time spent working on them could be better spent elsewhere. But hey, I won't complain if they come back. I'd probably even switch to Elite.
-
Okay, yes. I've seen this arguement before, but it still seems trivial to me. Yeah, if you miss a shot at mid range with the DMR you could be in trouble, but it's pretty easy to hit your target. Especially with the aim assist and bullet magnetism. He meant performance-wise. They're both less effective than they previously were.
-
In Halo 2 and Halo: Reach, they had larger hitboxes, making it pointless to play as one. In Halo 3, they had the same hitbox as the Spartans, which was weird as Hell and inaccurate. Altogether they were just never popular. I like Elites more than Spartans, but most everyone else doesn't and they would simply be a waste of development time.

Yeah, I expect Doubles to show up eventually, but honestly, It should have been there from the beginning. Also, this should be in the Match Making forum.

Spoiler Warning!!! If you had beat Halo 4, please read!
Forlorn Penguin replied to Jamie Parker's topic in Halo 4
Honestly, I was lost throughout the whole thing. I couldn't follow the story at all, possibly because I'm not familiar with the part of the EU that it stems from. I've only read the first five novels (The Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx, and Contact Harvest). Likewise, I don't understand how Halsey escaped the world that she was trapped in at the end of GoO. As far as the death of Cortana goes, I embrace the idea of adding more emotional depth to the game. Cortana's been with us for the whole ride and losing her now is very upsetting, but it was a great step forward for the series. I hope they don't just go "nope, nevermind, she's back" for Halo 5. That would be incredibly dissapointing and completely ruin the effect of 4's ending. I can't imagine Halo without Cortana though, so I'm very curious as to how they plan to do two more games without her. -
I've never lost any XP, nor have I ever heard of it happening. Disturbing news to say the least.
