The mauler and boltshot are wildly different. Honestly this sounds like a troll thread. First off. you couldn't spawn with a mauler. Secondly, to get a one hit kill you needed to get ANOTHER mauler. And lastly YOU COULDN'T SPAWN WITH A FRIGGIN MAULER. The mauler was the superior weapon as it was actually balanced. And could be used with other dual weild combos for interesting effects.

Well, I'll be damned. That solved one of my many gripes with the game, even if it is a band aid fix.

It was something that mattered when halo 2 and 3 existed. MLG would be a mockery I'd imagine in halo 4. One word. Ordanance. How has the MLG community gotten past that one? As soon as I saw the guy get ordanance in the video I just stopped watching. Random power weapon delivery ensures there will NEVER be a totally even playing field as MLG demands to have an accurate game.

I have always played halo with my friends over the years it is our tradition, our ritual. Since Halo 1 2 and 3 on split screen, with no problems when they come over for the holidays. I loaded up halo 4 expecting the same spit screen viability that the other games offered. It's not like this on every map, but on larger maps, and most specificly the DLC maps, the framerate in split screen drops dramaticly, this can range from slightly annoying to downright unplayable, where you can almost COUNT the frames moving. (this extreme case only happens on shatter) but the lesser lag occurs on all larger maps and even on some medium sized ones (going to the central structure in Exile causes retarded lag.) It's a shame too because the game feels really good in split screen. I think that there should be an optimization patch or something that smooths out the framerate in these maps, because on certain maps like Shatter competitiveness is absolutely impossible. Anyway, this is something that is straight up wrong with the game/unpolished, and needs to be adressed when I feel like the issue is very silent.

Well...part of the problem with the DLC is people wanted more then Exile and Ragnarok to play. Unfortunately the best map out of the DLC (harvest) isn't in BTB, and Shatter, which would be an ok map except that the FRAMERATE drops to about 10 on spit screen, making the map utterly unplayable. That leaves us with Wreckage, which is a cool looking map, but in team slayer it devolves into everyone going to the mancannon area and camping there. It really sucks that this spot is so fortified and makes slayer games boring, because the asthetic of the map is really pleasing to me, reminding me of Burial Grounds from halo 2.

I barely play the game online anymore due to ****ty maps and The things you mentioned happen to me on a daily basis, I chock it up to getting matched against fully organized teams in big team battle. The bolt shot usage is getting out of hand, every person I fight less then 20 feet away seems to always have a boltshot for back up, and they ALWAYS run around a corner when I get their shields, and I NEVER seem to have my grenades to seal the deal, so I HAVE to run around that corner, knowing fool well whats about to happen. Like you and many other people that played previous halos I too am just not as great at this game lately as I feel like I should be. My solution is join big team battle and wreck some people with power vehicles or weapons, its easy to do, and destroying people en-mass with power weapons and tanks/banshees/gauss warthogs is one of the last feelings of the original games you can feel here.

Halo 2. Featured new awesome music and remixes from halo 1. Halo 3 was just a ton of halo 2 songs remixed so I didn't mention it.

Halo 4: What is the EASIEST way to achieve Assisant Mastery?
Chris Hansen replied to burger_distraction's topic in Halo 4
When fighting enemy vehicles, do some type of significant damage to it, like hitting with a grenade of sniper shot, and let it drive off, if you know you have teamates around with anti vehicle, assist city. On a side note, I think there should be a bigger assist spree medal like in halo reach. 5 in a row is pretty easy at times. -
Should 343 introduce a punishment for quitting during a game??
Chris Hansen replied to ProudDrunkIrish's topic in Halo 4
There's also another arguement that people don't seem to be paying attention to. I payed for the game, I payed for the service to play online, if I'm in a game that I'M NOT HAVING FUN IN, then I SHOULD be allowed to quit as many games in a row until I get into a game where I can enjoy it. Some of the maps are so terrible that when meltdown and vortex get selected in big team I just leave. Those maps are NO fun to me, and I'm not going to play them, regardless of teams or connection. Your logic is flawed here initiate, you say people should just stop playing if they quit from games repeatedly, but in halo 4 this isn't a minority. People quit games CONSTANTLY in big team battle, and I believe it's problems with the game itself that lead to this. The ability to get your vehicle destroyed by a teamate with no recourse to punish thier griefing, the ordanace system either handing you a concussion rifle or a incineration cannon (aka broken ordanace system), instantanious respawn in team slayer (getting killed by your victim before your shields come back) and other factors usually cause people to leave these games out of frustration. I know me and my friends leave games all the time because of these really stupid issues. Instead of suggesting ways to punish people for leaving the game, look at what makes people leave in the first place. Most of the time you're right, its babies who wanted a power vehicle or weapon or a flip flopped team, but more often then not I see people leaving for the reasons I listed and similar little gripes. This is my opinion, but its formed by playing the game quite a bit, and observing what I see, what people tend to do and say before quitting and just little annoyances that old halo fans find infuriating. You could say the tired and true line "don't like it? don't play it." but the problem is I DO like it. I love halo, and when theres I see the population Halo 4 dwindling to numbers lower then halo reach on a daily basis (something I thought couldn't be done!) due to some seriously unpolished mechanics of the game, pretty subpar maps, and overall emulation to certain features of COD like class loadouts and built in sprint, but that's all another agruement. One that I could go on and on about. -
Getting paired with mind-bogglingly bad teamates is part of halo. I would say these kids are the worst I've ever seen, but that's only because of my short term memory. I feel like a vietnam veteran at this point, "I've seen some things man! and some stuff!" On a side note, it DOES seem to be really bad in this halo particularly, as I've gotten angry enough with terrible teamates that I go above an beyond to tell them in messages they they should kill themselves, their mother should have swallowed them, and other rage fueled gems. When your in a team slayer game, and a teamate goes 0 on 20+ and he was PLAYING, we got problems. lol

Halo 2 had the best menu music, with the main menu being "the last spartan" and the multiplayer being NO MUSIC when searching for a game.

Chris Hansen replied to ProudDrunkIrish's topic in Halo 4
Make it so games aren't lagged out pieces of ****. And sure, then you can add a penalty. -
I have no idea what this guy is talking about. There was never any skull in halo called the "Bandana" skull. If you can't beat campaign on easy get a new game.
-
The challenges are in the right direction, and I love doing missions with all the skulls, EXCEPT, black eye. I find it to be very annoying lol

Except that it was. The way you take out a gauss hog is to have mutliple people attacking from different sides, with plasma pistol charges and plasma grenades. If the "randoms" you were playing with were good, then why did they get owned over and over again by the gauss? This doesn't happen in games where I'm playing with good people. When the gauss is up on the map, you CAN'T be out in the open, EVER. Fortunately exile has a million different ways and cover for you to get up on the gauss turret. The begining of the game is also paramount. What were you guys doing when they got the gauss? If your on red team you have access to a sniper rifle and scorpian tank, not to mention several plasma pistol loadouts and many places to ambush a gauss. If it survives/beats your whole team durring that time then you people deserve to lose. There isn't a single spot on exile that the gauss can camp that can't be compromised by a good team. I know because I have to deal with the gauss warthog ALL the time on exile, and I'm usually the guy that stops it's reign of destuction.
-
Please, I watched the video, and against those people sure it's overpowered, but only because those people **** balls. The guys team had the tank, and the power weapons, I see this happen and do this with the gauss cannon in games with players of this caliber. Watch the video, there were parts where they could have easily been killed by even slightly competent players, how about the people in the normal warthog charging the gauss, there is a turret gunner that wasn't even LOOKING at the thing as his team got raped, or the various parts that just have idiots running out in front of the Gauss, oblivious to it. That should just omit the whole video right there. There's more then enough corners and sightline breaks in exile for a savvy player with active camo/ plasma pistol/plasma grenades to end those fools several times over. And they certainly drove in more then a couple of spots where it could have happpened, but didn't because the barely sentient enemy was trying to attack in a single file line. I'm tired of you OP. All you seem to post about is how op the Gauss turret is, the delay between it's shots is SLOWER then previous incarnations, and warthogs are not as durable overall as in previous games. It honestly sounds like you are one of two things: Someone who is mad that they never can get to go on the sprees posted above, or someone who can't counter the gauss hog in this game or is lacking skill/creativeness in general. If you want to complain about something that's actually overpowered why not bash the bolt shot and it's absurd one hit kill range? Or spawning times? Or ordanance? There's actually legitmate things wrong with this game beside idiots who can't counter power vehicles. OH. And last but not least...the video was a montage of a game, which you seem to think all happened directly in a row.

Once in a blue moon you'll see someone using a carbine lol.
-
Tank...dropper? I've never heard of that one lol.
-
Are you serious OP? Reaches Arena was retarded. It was seasonally ranked, which I think was the main reason people hated it so much. If arena was just Ranked like halo 2 or 3 style it would have been greatly improved.
-
People see the battle rifle and carbine and think HALO 2! HALO 3! Of course these guns are just mockeries of thier previous forms.
-
no..it's certainly the other way around. MLG in halo 2 was the closest thing you could get to in the series where truely the better player would prevail. Now in halo and other games theres so many cruches given to new players in the form of slowing down gameplay weather its making the spartans slower or making the spawning weapons not the same for everyone. Black ops 2 league play isn't worth doing because the connection problems with call of duty. There's already a visible rank (although this means utterly nothing in COD) and the connections are far too inconsistent in that game to consider a competetive carrer. I'm serious, you could be the best player on the planet earth at call of duty, and you'll get into games where you can't do ANYTHING due to lag. But if you haven't played COD post MW2, the unique brand of lag it offers is truly infuriating. It doesn't lag like halo does, where people glitch around and everyone is still on the same footing more or less. No, in COD everyone has a different connection, some people have instant kill bullets, with no delay, and others will shoot an entire clip with a target center mass and get no hit indicators. And it's extremely telling in COD to boot, one game you're bullets will register after your first shot, and others it won't register until 3 to 4 shots. Because of this inconsistancy you can litterally destroy one game, and then the very next match, against the same people, can be night and day and you'll be on the recieving end. It's because of this reason that there really isn't a way to tell if someone is good at COD these days. Good players get owned due to lag and terrible players excell because they are almost a full second in front of the opposition connection wise. Call of duty was never a serious MLG title, but halo was considered the port in the storm for competetive console FPS'. Now it has the fun of big team games, but competition sucks big time, with unbalanced mechanics sprouting up all over the place. (instant respawning, ordanace, different loadouts which make you choose a rock paper sissor type of weapon loadout depending on range. I am certainly not alone in feeling this way about halo 4. Nor am I correct as I admit this only my opinion, however it is one held by MANY old halo fans, and I'm talking about OG's here since the launch of the first xbox.

I get these all the time, it's mainly in games where I destoy vehicles with the sniper rifle, I'll take out a fully loaded warthog, and I guess the sniper shot causes the vehicle to...explode. There was a game I played where my tool of destruction was 6 explosions. It was odd. I managed to get killed by the guardians in mutliplayer once, I sniped someone out of a ghost but it was running towards me, and the now empty vehicle barreled into me.

Explosives really shines in Dominion. In other gametypes it's not nearly as effective. I really only use it in dominion but MAN it's effective with 3 frag grenades on and around the B points. I never noticed that the sticky detonator gains a bonus from it though, thats kinda neat.
