3. New Mombassa, October 20th 2552, 4:00 PM TREC 1 was still fighting off the Covenant attacking the Hospital. For every Brute they killed, two more showed up. The Pelicans that had been dispatched to them were 20 minutes overdue. Mathison switched his radio channel to Command’s frequency. “Command! TREC 1 is heavily engaged on 8th street! Where are those birds?” “TREC 1, they were attacked by Banshee’s on the way in. They’ll get there, just hold on for a few more minutes.” “We might not have a few more minutes!” “Do you need air support? We have Longswords on standby.” “That would’ve been nice to know! Bring ‘em in! Targets are on 8th street, danger close!” “Copy that, connecting you to Firehawk 3-1.” A short static took over, and a quick tone confirmed his radio was connected. “TREC 1, this is Firehawk 3-1. I’ve got bombs that need a new home. Can you pop smoke to mark your targets?” Mathison pulled a Smoke grenade off of his belt, pulled the pin, and tossed it over the wall. “Smoke’s up! Be careful, they’re right on top of us!” “Turning now. Bombs away in one minute.” Lugo turned to Mathison. “Aren’t you forgetting something?” “What?” “The new guy?” “Oh S---…” Mathison scrambled to change his radio channel. “Kid! We’ve got air support coming in! You need to get out of there!” “Oh crap…. Alright, I’m moving now!” Ty broke off from the brutes he was exchanging fire with, and moved up the street towards the Hospital. He dashed across the street and leaped over the wall Lugo and Mathison used for cover. “Howdy! Miss me?” “Yeah, I almost hit you a few times though.” Lugo said with a smirk. “Oh, how nice….” Ty said, rolling his eyes. Their radios crackled. “TREC 1, Firehawk is coming in, and the talons are out. Keep your heads down.” A Longsword fighter streaked down and followed 8th street, Heading directly for the hospital. “Bombs away.” The twin 500 pound Dumb-bombs dropped from their rails, and screamed toward the ground. “Get down! Now!” Mathison shouted, before getting as low to the ground as possible, Lugo and Ty doing the same. The bombs hit just a few feet off where the smoke grenade was, and exploded, tearing the attacking brutes to bits, and spewing blood all over the street. “TREC 1, confirm on drop?” Firehawk 3-1 said into his Mask. Receiving silence. “TREC 1, Respond.” Mathison pulled himself up and wiped the blood off of his helmets visor. “Good effect on target Firehawk… I’ll send ya my laundry bill.” He said, flicking some brute bits off of his shoulder. “Roger that, TREC 1. Might wanna move downwind before you start to stink. Firehawk 3-1, out.” “Man… I wanted to watch the explosion…” Lugo said, hanging his head. Ty was still sitting on the ground. “Can you give me a hand Lugo?” “Sure, here ya go.” Lugo giggled as he dropped a Brute’s severed hand into Ty’s lap. “Oh God!!” Ty shouted as he scrambled to his feet, wiping the blood off of his pant legs. “Don’t do that!!” “Oh come on! You HANDED me that one.” Lugo said with a cheesy smile. “Are you two ladies done?” Mathison sighed. “The Pelicans are here…” Back at the Hospital, Logan was already loading civilians onto the evac flight. “Alright people! Listen up!” Mathison bellowed, getting everyone’s attention. “These fine UNSC pilots are gonna take you to the Garuda, Our own little slice of heaven. Once there, you’ll be checked in, and you can eat, sleep, or look for your loved ones. We have 4 other teams evacuating civilians as we speak, so if you don’t see them right away, don’t freak out. Wait a bit, and they may show up on the next flight. Good luck, and Godspeed.” Lugo and Ty rushed over, having given similar speeches to the other two full Pelicans. “Everyone’s in.” Lugo said with a satisfied smirk. “Got it. Pilots! Get these people out of here!” The three pelicans lifted off, and rocketed away from the city, slipping past the Covenant cruiser as Longsword fighters kept up their assault. Mathison watched for a bit, and turned to his team. “Good work guys. Real textbook stuff.” “What part of the textbook talks about being covered in Pureed Brute?” Ty groaned, still trying to get the blood off of his uniform. “Oh chin up, Diva… Think of the story this’ll make!” Lugo said, fantasizing about all the female Marines he’d regale with his heroic tale. “Well, it sucks so far…” Mathison radioed the Garuda. “TREC Actual, this is TREC 1. Evacuation complete.” “Affirmative TREC 1. One moment.” Mathison sat on the steps of the hospital, thankful for the moment of silence, save for Lugo, as usual, talking up a storm. “I’m telling you, I got like… 10, on my own. How many’d you get Newbie?” “Three I think…” “Ha! You lose! What about you Blondie?” “15.” Logan said, patting his rifle. “Yes! I wi- 15? Damn it…” Lugo said, kicking at the ground. “It’s not about kills Lugo.” Mathison scoffed. “Says the guy who didn’t get any…” “I’m about to get one if you don’t check your mouth.” Lugo slinked away, and walked inside the hospital. Mathison’s radio clicked on. “All TREC teams, this is TREC Actual. Evacuation operations are complete. 8 Pelicans confirmed arrived. Two confirmed lost. Begin phase two; Recon the sectors you were assigned in briefing. Report any and all findings to us. How copy?” “Solid copy. TREC 1 is moving now.” Mathison said, jumping to his feet, and turning to his team. “Alright, here’s the- Where the hell is Lugo?” “He went inside…” “I swear, sometimes I just want to-“ Lugo sauntered through the double doors, helmet off, and a soda in his hand. “What’s up Sarge?” “Did you seriously just go get a soda?” “I said I wanted one, didn’t I? And Rookie here forgot to grab it while he was in the store.” “Yeah, I had a hard time deciding what was more important, my survival, or your thirst.” Ty scoffed. “Always think of the team first, kid.” Lugo said, before chugging down the rest of the bottle. “Lugo… I swear to god…” Mathison fumed. Lugo pulled another soda from behind his back. “I got you one Sarge.” “Can we at least TRY to act like professionals?” Lugo hung his head. “I was thirsty… sorry. I guess I’ll just throw this out.” “Well, I didn’t say I didn’t want it…” Mathison chuckled. “Hypocrite…” “Anyway,” Mathison said, taking the bottle from Lugo. “We’re starting phase two. We have two spots to Recon. An old weapons depot on the outskirts of the city, and the central park. If we wanna take a stand and stop these guys, we’ll need both. Lugo, you ‘n’ me are goin’ to the Depot. Logan, take Ty and scope out the park. Engage at your own discretion. Any questions?” “Where are the other teams going?” Lugo asked, slipping his helmet back on. “Targets closer to the Carrier’s area. Hopefully they won’t run into too many problems…” “Where are we meeting up after this, Sarge?” Ty asked as he adjusted his vest. “All teams are meeting at Evac-point Alpha. The courtyard of the Capital Building.” “Got it.” “Alright, you two are on your own from here. Keep radio use to a minimum. Got it?” “Yes.” Logan nodded. Ty gave Mathison a thumbs up. “Get goin’ boys, we’re on the clock.”
4. D.J. was a little confused as the one of the new arrivals asked him to show them around. "Uh, yeah. I'll give ya the ten cent tour." He led her around, pointing out the places he knew, which wasn't much. He hadn't really paid attention earlier. They arrived in front of the bunk house. "And here's where we stay. Looks awfully cozy, eh?"
5. Glad it worked out! Enjoy your game!
6. [ You're rubbing on borderline Meta-gaming JL... I'll take it for now, but ease up a tad.] Ty started to draw fire from the Innie's, Holding them off as his troops got away. He'd draw as much fire to one location as he could, before cloaking and moving another spot, and taking out some as they fired at his last position. He ducked down behind a fallen tree as they shifted fire to him again, and reloaded. "Damn... low on ammo..." He kicked on his radio. "Lightbringer? you guys still out there?" "Negative. we've already reached the rally point. all teams are accounted for. Moderate losses on all teams, save ours." "Damn it... Return to base and get everyone patched up. I'll lose these guys, and we'll lock down our S---. I want all of Meteor Company at full readiness. If they find us, we're putting them down hard." "Affirmative. see you soon." Ty slid along the ground, moving to the edge of his cover. "Alright... let's do some misdirection..." He cloaked again, and dashed out of cover, moving away from his H.Q., out toward the Desert zone. Every few feet he'd stop, and toss a few frags to get their attention, drawing the Insurrectionists away from his base.
7. [Yeah, I'm trying to set my character up as a sharp-shooter, so at this stage of training, from a prone position, he's able to fire single shots very accurately. I'll be developing more along these lines as we go. Also, I had D.J. follow Kyro because you made it sound like all the recruits at the range had to run. My mistake.] D.J. trudged back into the courtyard, and took a position on the ready line, trying to stand as straight as he could. He didn't know why either. It had only been one day, but he felt like Kawolski had gotten to him. He had to respect the guy's balls to the wall style, but he'd be damned if he wouldn't have his fun before he got deployed. That could wait until after a good night's sleep though.
8. It must be a combination of the two, because I haven't had any problems like that with mine. I'd say get a new disc if you can, I don't really think there's much else you can do.
9. [Wolfy, bear in mind it was a street gang. having a gun at all was a rarity. most of the time they just beat the crap out of people.] D.J. hopped up, set the empty AR back in it's box, and jogged off after Kyro. "Great work... 700 push ups and 16 miles today. Lovin' this..." D.J. said, actually dejected for once. he worked out a lot back home, but this was overkill.
10. If it turns out to be your Xbox, you have two options; A: Replace it. This is the best course of action, Unfortunately. B: They sell DVD laser cleaning things, they're little disks with a brush on them. It's cheaper than replacing, but only a temporary fix, as it'll just prolong your Reading laser for a month at most, before the brushes get too worn and start to damage it. If it's the disk, you can replace it, or ask a friend for theirs, go onto the dashboard, select My Games, find the game in the list, select it, and choose Install to hard drive. Good luck, I've dealt with this same problem quite a few times.
11.
[THIS IS JUST SOME RANDOM TEXT. IGNORE IT.]

12. I like to take a person by the ankles, and viciously beat someone to death with them. Both of them die, and there's no murder weapon. It's the perfect crime!! "So, what happened here detective?" "Looks like a pedestrian accident. They must have been moving Pretty fast with this kind of damage..." And no one suspects a thing.
13. Ty waited about thirty seconds before deciding his pursuer had him figured out. He walked out of the cave, and re-cloaked, taking the demo-charge with him. "All units!" Ty yelled into his radio. "Set off your remaining charges and fall back! we're cutting our loses!" He received scattered confirmation over the radio, and he headed over to support his teams retreat. "Jubyur, fall back and set charges! we're gonna leapfrog back to Rally point Alpha! if they want to follow us, make 'em pay for it!" "Yes Sir! More booms! Lots more booms!!"
14. "I thought I found the guy who did my brother in... I.. shot him... a little... Had to duck out before the police picked me up, so I enlisted."
15. [We're only using AR's. No other weapons as of yet. Helljumper is running this one tight.] "Well, it's good to see you." D.J. said, turning to keep practicing. "Don't get too comfortable though. I've already done like.... 1000 push ups today. The Sarge really doesn't like my sense of humor."
16. D.J. Lowered the AR and turned to see who had talked to him. "Kyro!? I thought they were sending your sorry a-- up the river? What are you doin' here?"
17. There are times being a sports fan sucks... and last night with the Bruins was a good example of that, however... Last night was also a perfect example of why it's awesome to be a sports fan. :D

18. Ty cloaked quickly, and moved to another position, hoping to throw off the rapidly approaching Enemy. "Lightbringer!" He said in a hushed tone. "I'm engaging an unknown enemy! I don't think it's an insurrectionist. Can you send three guys my way?" "They'll be there in a minute. Try not to die." "Thanks for the vote of confidence, D---" Ty slipped into cover behind a tree and reloaded. "Ok... He's got shields. So.... damn it.... uh......" Ty glanced around looking for something he could use to his advantage. "There...." There was a small cave in the side of the hill. Ty uncloaked, and jogged over, making sure to fire a few shots at his enemy to get his attention, before running in the cave. He stopped at the entrance, and set a small explosive charge. It wouldn't kill him, but if it went to plan, his shielding would be fried by the Plasma-conventional combo, And they wouldn't recharge without repairs. Ty moved to the back of the cave, and crouched down, Detonator in hand. "S--- I hope this works.... Otherwise I'm trapped..."
19. [OH! OHHHH! Is that how it's gonna be wolfy??? that's fine then! ] As the time on the rifle range wound down, DJ's shooting improved marginally. From any position, he was able to put rounds accurately on target, with a 2 to 3 inch grouping. However, if he switched to full-auto, he'd still miss completely. "Guess I'm not a shock an' awe kinda guy..." He said to no one in particular.
20. [The grunts are using Fifty-seveNs, They're refurbished Human pistols. Just something to bear in mind.] "Alright... I see ya...." Ty shouldered his rifle, and took aim at the Human holding a lightrifle. "I'd like to ask to ask you a few questions laddie..." He fired a burst at his legs, hoping to disable him.
21. [Oh... it's in the Frost zone. a forested region, specifically. A few miles from MMS's base.] Ty ducked down as hardlight rounds whizzed through the air. "S---!" Ty flipped on his radio. "All Companies! I have Hardlight rounds coming from an unknown location! keep your heads down and your guns ready! watch your flanks!" He slipped through the trees and moved toward the Location of Lightbringer 1, ducking behind a fallen tree before uncloaking. "Kal? You around?" A Sangheli uncloaked right next to him. "Yes." "Gah! don't do that!" "Sorry, I love the look of fear on a human's face." "Right.... Your guys in position?" "Yes." "Alright, get them moving in cloak. start choppin''em down." "Yes sir." Kal cloaked and moved off, leaving Ty alone. He peeked up over the trunk of the tree and looked through his rifle's red dot sight. "where the hell are those hardlight rounds coming from?"
22. [ Patton is a fully intergrated unit. Patton 1 is just commanded by a jackal. Every species is represented in Patton Company.] Ty arrived 3 minutes after the initial Ambush that wiped out a decent portion of the insurrectionists. His troops were fighting bravely as usual, but some had been killed. Ty pulled on his Black Baseball cap, with the MMS logo on the front, and moved along the tree line behind Patton 1's line. He took a knee, and brought his Suppressed M-8A to his shoulder. There was a small squad of insurrectionists that had worked their way behind Patton 1, and had taken cover in a small ditch. Ty controlled his breathing and silently dispatched them before they could even react. He activated his Cloak, and moved to support Lightbringer 1.
23. I had to make a development document for my game development class, detailing a game i'd like to make. It was supposed to be 9 pages. I hit 14 in one hour...

24. "MacMillan! Enemies are here! Boom time?" Ty leaned forward and flipped the switch on his radio. "Hold off for a few seconds, I need to make sure your back-up is in place." He switched channels. "Lightbringer 1, Jubyur is getting ready to start the show, are you in position?" "Yes. Directly on their back flank. If they run, we'll cut them down." "Total annihilation... I like it. Alright, wait for the bang before you uncloak. MacMillan out." Another switch. "Patton 1, Jubyur and Lightbringer are green lit, are you ready?" "Yes, ready. Split in two, flanking sides. Attack?" "Negative, let Jubyur blow 'em up, you take out the left overs, and leave the runners to Lightbringer." "Yes. Eager to fight!" "I know. Make us proud. MacMillan out." One last change of channels. "Jubyur, you are authorized to blow them to bits. get as many as you can!" "YES YES! Cover your head! BIIIIIG boom!" A few seconds of silence followed, before the entire Base shook with the force of the explosion. MMS had developed specialized demo charges that combined plasma with traditional explosives, exponentially increasing their explosive yield. A single ounce of the explosive material had the same yield as 10 pounds of conventional C-4. "Patton. Engaging targets." Ty hopped up from his desk and quickly donned his vest. It'd been a while since he'd seen a good fight, and his personal M-8A had been dormant for long time. "Central, Razgriz Actual is deploying. I give Mission control to you." "Roger that, good hunting Sir."
