  1. Welcome to the Community! Enjoy your stay!
  2. D.J. Brought his hands up, and parried Cavril's attack. He lifted his leg, and used it to give Cavril a solid shove, creating some distance between them. "Alright... This was fun and all, But I think I'm done." With that, D.J. charged towards Cavril, with the intent of delivering a dirty shot to the groin, and dropping the Russian to the ground. [Yeah.... D.J. tends to fight dirty.]

and making me feel welcome since April 27th :P

  4. [you didn't say what kind of attack it would be... so, i'll just make it a punch to the face.] D.J.'s head snapped back as the Russians knuckles slammed into his mouth, cutting his lip. He stumbled a bit, but kept on his feet. He spun around and pulled back his fist, but faked a punch, opting to stomp on Cavril's foot instead, hoping it would drop his guard.
  5. [ what did we talk about? I used the Shoulder charge to set up my attack, so it could hit if I wanted, jut as long as it does no damage. you just ignored it completely. Also, STOP WITH THE MAJOR INJURIES. Cavril is an average human, and you said he doesn't have much in the terms of muscle, just squeezing my wrist wouldn't fracture it. Most humans can't break a bone with brute force alone.] D.J. Grabbed Cavril's, leg, and gave it a sharp pull, bringing him around to the other side, and giving him a clear shot at his back. He took a short step in, and launched a vicious punch toward Cavril's kidney.
  6. "Too easy, pal!" D.J. scoffed as he leaned back, the kick swiping just in front of his face. He slid to his right, and shoulder charged Cavril to knock him slightly of balance, before throwing a hard hook towards his ribs.
  7. [ D.J. as actually pretty tall, and with a muscular build, Cavril would only have about 2-3 inches on him. not exactly looking down height, ya know?] "Uh, Derek. Derek Jones. You can call me D.J." He said. But in the back of his mind he thought; "S--t! Of all the people to pair up with, I get smiley over here..." He pushed the thought out of his mind, and Took up his Boxing stance, Standing at an angle, and keeping his arms in tight near his body, with his fists covering his face. "Alright, Rasputin," D.J. said with a devious grin. "After you."
  8. [ D.J. didn't say that out loud, but whatever, not like it matters.] D.J. gave the Instructor his full attention when he went over blocks and reversals, but let his mind wander when he moved on to throwing the proper punch. (Something he knew how to do quite well.) He'd been in a fight almost every week back home, whether it was a boxing match, of a scuffle over Turf that didn't really belong to them. He'd won his fair share, but lost a few too. He stepped back from the group and practiced throwing one of his signatures back when he used to Box, A ten piece combo, switching from the head to the body and back seemingly at random, that had won several fights for him. He knew he'd never get the chance to use it, but it helped to remember. He swept his eyes over the other recruits, looking for a suitable opponent. he didn't want to make it too easy, but against The big Russian, Cavril, was it? He'd be lucky to walk away afterward.
  9. Next should be up by Friday. Keep an eye on this thread.
  10. YAY FOR MOM-NESS and stuff...
  11. I wish I could take credit for the U.N.S.C. Say My Name, But unfortunately that is the name of the ship you drop from in Halo 3: ODST. I didn't make it. I made Da Garuda though.
  12. Ok, well... I put my little nose to the grindstone, and managed to pump out the first chapter! Read here: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/28622-ground-zero-halo-3-odst-alternate-storyline/

  13. Boom. First chapter. Comments, questions, reviews, and especially criticism are welcome. The U.N.S.C. Garuda, Earth Orbit, October 20th 2552, 3:00pm. The U.N.S.C. Garuda, a Charon-class Light Frigate, was drifting in a high orbit of Earth, just over the African Main-land. The ships purpose was well publicized. It had been commissioned as the first ship in the new Tactical Reconnaissance and Evacuation Command, or T.R.E.C. The group was established early in the war, when Reach fell, as a means to evacuate civilians. And currently, they were on high alert. “So, what exactly do you think they’re doing?” Mathison asked. A ten year veteran, Charles L. Mathison had seen his share of Covenant, as well as what they do to Humans, civilian or not, who get in their way. He was the first to volunteer for T.R.E.C. and Led T.R.E.C. 1. At 32, he was old for a Helljumper. He looked even older, going prematurely bald, and opting to shave his head. “Well, it doesn’t take much to guess. If they’re attacking the MAC relay, they must have their eyes set on Earth.” Admiral Parker answered, stroking his mustache “Unfortunately, we don’t have the Authorization, nor the man-power to drop down and start evacuating civies at random… U.N.S.C. command wants to see IF they attack. We all know they will, it’s just a matter of where, and when.” “We’ll need more than just us sir, we can’t fight off an invasion force.” “The U.N.S.C. Say My Name is moving into a synced orbit now. They’ll be the main response force.” “Hmm… Buck still leading the ODSTs over there?” “He is, but everyone else there is green as grass.” “Eh, if I know Buck, he’ll get ‘em together quickly.” “That’s it. I’ll let you know if we need you, but I wouldn’t stow your gear just yet. Dismissed.” “Yes sir!” Mathison stood and saluted before turning to leave. “Oh, Sergeant! One more thing.” “Yes sir?” “Your new boy just arrived. He’s in the Hanger now.” “A new recruit?” “That’s right. He’s a young one, only 18.” “Great… just what I need, a friggin’ babysitting job…” “He’s gotten good reports so far, and he has a few drops under his belt. You don’t need to hold his hand, just keep an eye on him.” “Yes sir.” “Alright then, get to it Sergeant.” Mathison left the Bridge, and headed down to his squads bunk-room. Inside his two squad mates were waiting. “Up and at ‘em ladies. We’ve gotta go break in the newbie.” “Newbie?” They both said in unison. “You heard me, let’s go!” “I’ve got to grab my rifle from the Quartermaster, I’ll meet you there.” Logan said, rushing out of the doorway before anyone could respond. “Well, looks like it’s you an’ me Lugo.” “Lead the way, Sarge.” Christopher Lugo, the team’s Medic. He had planned to become an E.M.T., but the U.N.S.C. drafted him first. He made the best of it, and now is a proud member of the O.D.S.T.s. His valor in battle has made him a trusted and formidable soldier, but his temper has kept him from many a promotion. “Come on, the Newb’s waiting in the Hanger.” “I’m not exactly happy about replacing Paez so quickly.” Lugo lamented as they began to walk down the hall. “Lugo, Paez went AWOL, and he paid for it. I’d been tryin’ to get rid of his sorry a—since he was assigned to me.” “But he-“ “I know he was a friendly guy, but you know what he was like. He loved the Innies, and it cost him. I guess it was a one way relationship.” Mathison said with a chuckle as he pulled a pack of Cigarettes from his pocket. “Hopefully the new kid’s got a smarter outlook on life.” “Kid?” “He’s only 18, apparently.” “Great…” “Hey, Veterans are a rarity now. We gotta deal with the newbies, and make some new ones.” Lugo and Mathison stepped onto the Elevator. Just before the doors closed, Logan slipped through the door, holding his SRS 99D-S2, A new Anti-Material sniper. Logan Scott is the big guy of the group, at 6”3’. However, his personality is the exact opposite, as he rarely speaks. His talent as a sniper is well known, even to some in the SPARTAN project. “Glad you could join us, Blondie.” Lugo said with a Grin, which Logan ignored. They waited in Silence as the elevator slid down to the Hangar level. Inside the Hangar, Technicians and Pelican Pilots were all scrambling to make sure they were ready to evacuate civilians should the need arise. Mathison glanced around the Deck, looking for the new recruit. “Anyone see ‘em?” “There.” Logan said, pointing to a short, Black haired man, sitting on his helmet and playing a handheld game. Mathison walked over and stood above the recruit, who looked up, and quickly scrambled to his feet, dropping the game. He stood at attention and saluted. “Sergeant. Private Tyler MacMillan, Reporting for duty sir.” “At ease. You sure you belong here kid?” “Yes sir. I’ve been assigned to TREC 1.” “Well, you’re looking at TREC 1.” Mathison said, waving to his team. “That’s Lugo, and the big guy is Logan.” Ty nodded respectfully to them, and returned his attention to Mathison. “Orders sir?” “Cut the ‘sir’ crap kid, I’m a Sergeant, not the damn president.” “Yes si- Sarge.” Ty corrected himself. “You go by Tyler?” “I prefer Ty, if it’s all the same to you.” “Ty? Alright, easy enough. As for orders, we gotta wait until U.N.S.C. Command gives us the green light. Until then, just relax.” Ty nodded and sat back down, picking up his game. “So kid… I didn't exactly get a chance to review your file. What Academy are you coming from?” “Argo Academy of Reconnaissance, Boston, Massachusetts.” “A recon specialist eh?” “Yep.” “Good. What gear you runnin’ with?” Ty pointed to the metal case next to him. “I’ve got an M7S, and an M6CSOCOM.” “Suppressed huh?” “It helps to keep it quiet sometimes.” “Smart kid. Now all we gotta do is-“ Without warning, Alarms began to blare. Admiral Parker’s voice roared over the intercom. “TREC teams! We are green lit for Evacuation operations in New Mombassa! Covies have just landed! I repeat! The Covenant are on Earth! Teams 1 through 5, get to your pods and prepare to drop!” While the rest of the squad took a second to process the information, Mathison was already spouting orders. “You heard ‘em! Those ******** are on the ground! Let’s move it!” To Be Continued....
  14. SO, here's the thread for my story! please check it out. I have Character Bio's up now, ad the first Chapter will be up soon. http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/28622-ground-zero-halo-3-odst-alternate-storyline/

  15. Well, I decided I'm horrible at establishing characters in the story, so I'd take the Lazy/easy route, and just make a few character bio's. Here you go for now. Name: Charles Louis Mathison Age: 32 Height: 6 feet Weight: 235 Pounds Rank: Sergeant Class: Team Lead Preferred weapon: M90CAWS Shotgun Appearance: Appears much older than he really is, with deep set wrinkles covering his face. He started to go bald at 25, and decided to just shave his head. Other than that, he looks to be a "Man's man" with rugged features, and a decently muscular build. Biography: A ten year Veteran of the ODSTs, Mathison has been around the block, and knows exactly what to do when the action starts. He tends to keep new recruits at an arms length, as he has lost a fair number of troops in combat. He has the skills to take him to a higher rank, but his lack of an education has seen him Locked at Sergeant for the rest of his career. Relationships: Logan Scott - Mathison trusts Logan, but not as much as he'd like, as his tendency for silence makes him hard to deal with. Christopher Lugo - Mathison and Lugo are best friends, having seen plenty of action together. Both of them love their job, but hate their restrictions of rank. Admiral Parker - Mathison respects Parker, but has his dissagreements, which Parker is quick to remind him who is in charge. Edward Buck - Both are the Senior ODSTs in the operation, and have been on several deployments together. Name: Christopher Xavier Lugo Age: 26 Height: 5 foot 11 Weight: 210 pounds Rank: Corporal Class: Medic Preferred weapon: MA5B Assault Rifle Appearance: The "Pretty boy" of the team, Lugo takes time to make sure he looked good. His Brown hair is always spiked perfectly, and he keeps a neatly trimmed beard. Much to his dismay, however, his body is grossly average. Biography: Lugo didn't choice military life, it chose him, literally. During his training as an Emergency Medical Technician, The U.N.S.C. drafted him as a Medic. He's made the best of it though, and is well liked by the people he has served with. Unfortunately, he has a problem with his temper, and can be rather reckless. Relationships: Charles Mathison - Best friends, and have served several missions together. Logan Scott - Lugo has a tendency to make fun of Logan, but gets frustrated, as the silent giant tends to ignore him completely. Name: Logan Alexander Scott Age: 23 Height: 6 foot 3 Weight: 290 pounds Rank: Private First Class Class: Marksman Preferred weapon: SRS 99D-S2 Anti-Material Rifle Appearance: Huge, with a very muscular build. He is rather plain looking, with short Blond hair and Blue eyes. Biography: No one knows much about Logan's past, but his files say he was rescued from a Colony world before it was glassed. He very rarely speaks, fitting the "Strong, silent" bill perfectly. His career has been decently successful, With nearly 50 confirmed kills to his name. Relationships: Charles Mathison - Unknown Christopher Lugo - Unknown Name: Tyler "Ty" Mitchell MacMillan Age: 18 Height: 5 foot 7 Weight: 150 pounds Rank: Private Class: Pointman Preferred weapon: M7S Caseless SMG Appearance: Short and thin, most people mistake him for being weak, or fragile. He has short messy black hair, and Sharp green eyes. He usually has a thick patch of hair on his chin. Biography: Ty hasn't seen as much action as most of the other members of T.R.E.C. but he is by no means a rookie. He has had several sabotage missions already, and has established a report of being quick, quiet, and efficient. Relationships: None. I should have the first chapter up tomorrow. please comment if you'd like, as it lets me know people are actually reading this.
  16. Well, welcome to the Community!
  17. OK.... Hello... Very interesting introduction. Enjoy your time around the Forums!
  18. "Hand to hand?" D.J. thought as he marched in the line. "Been a while since I had a good brawl..." Arriving at the Sandbox, he took a spot in the middle of the Ready line.
  19. So, for those of you who are interested, I am writing a story to post in member created works, Featuring a handful of characters from my Eagle's Talon RP. 20. Definitely agree, Not only is it a good marketing decision, but it gives you a chance to Iron out the details with a large scale response. Also helps with those nasty server errors.
  21. Welcome to the Community! Lots of forgers here, and plenty of people willing to give your maps a try.

  23. Yay! My name is mentioned in a post that isn't negative! Just another point to add; Write... ALL THE TIME. At any given time, I have 10 or so works in progress. I usually never post them anywhere, as some of them are terrible, but you use them to work out your ideas, and compile plot points you like, and then put them into a full story. Another thing; don't worry about grammar and spelling while you write. It breaks up the flow of your writing. Write first, revise later. You'd be surprised how much more you get down when you just type freely, without correcting everything.
  24. Well, most of the R.P.s have shut down, but this one is open and accepting people! http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/28155-halo-militia-rp/
