  1. Long-time Halo player, here. Long story short, I think Halo 4 has a lot of problems (I know that I'm seriously like the first person ever to say this). Think it did some things well (sound effects, RC car Warthog not included) but I also think it deviated from a solid foundation that had already been laid for it in previous Halo games, so I definitely see a lot of room for improvement. Yes, it's another thread that's going to be full of complaints, but there is no other practical way to handle them, imo, besides telling the developer in a forum that they are hopefully keeping an eye on. It's productive, thoughtful complaining and while I don't think that in reality it will have any effect on future or current games, it's all I can really do to hopefully get heard/feedback/results. This thread isn't meant to be combative with people who probably disagree and I don't particularly desire to become entangled in a ****-flinging competition. It's for 343, not the community. - Why was the waypoint system from previous Halo games completely gutted? Currently, you see only a service tag and a red blinking service tag if they are w/o their shield. In previous games you could see whether they were taking or giving fire and a large red X was placed where they died. It was helpful. I mean, so much was done with making sure you knew what was happening (promethean vision, kill cams, radar expanding perks, etc), yet helpful information about your teammates was just totally left out. - Why can people no longer manually drop the flag? I understand it may be in part due to the fact that you could cheese flag carries in previous halo games (ex: jumping and dropping repeatedly) and also that hearing 'flag dropped flag taken flag dropped flag taken flag dropped flag taken' got super tiring. Those two are annoying but it's even more annoying to be stuck with the flag - unable to either drop it to hand it off to someone else or just accidentally running over it and rendering yourself immobile/useless/dead. Also, 35 seconds is way too long of a return time, especially on small maps. You essentially need to completely and utterly shut down their entire team (more than likely with your entire team) and become a team of total badasses for half a minute in order to succeed. Large maps should have large return times and small maps small times. It makes sense! That or just bring back sitting by a flag to manually return it. - Promethean Vision. Why, oh God, WHY? There's a reason developers stopped implementing wall hack guns and vision modes ( here's to you, Farsight) a long time ago. It encourages people to sit in a corner and do absolutely nothing but cheese their advantage with bouncing frag grenades and bolt pistol/shotgun camping. It also renders camou completely useless (which is a bit over-powered in and of itself, but even so). - Hard Light Shield - you turn incredibly move/slowly and can't activate it while crouched. It takes way too long to throw up and release. Also, your shield can't recharge while holding it up? wtf? I loved armor lock. Really. I also knew how over-powered it was in all its glory, but hard light shield is just pathetic and useless in comparison. - Crouching - You can crouch down while mid-jump, but not back up again. This leads to being stuck in the crouching position until you click crouch again once on the floor. It's clunky and needs to be changed. - Kill cam. It's useless outside being able to see a cool final kill (which I almost never see happen btw so I don't know what's going on and even if it does decide to work the accuracy of its portrayal for what actually happened is...shotty as best). If you don't know what killed you and where you were killed from, then you shouldn't know until you figure it out for yourself. The game shouldn't be telling you "Hey dumbass, here's who killed you and exactly what they did it with so go and get them when you spawn cause you're mad now and deserve revenge!" Kill cam is not cool, I don't see why it was implemented other than the fact that CoD has had it for a while now and it's apparently hip. - Spawns. I have no objective/scientific response for this one - only anecdotal evidence that essentially proves to me that spawns need to be fixed. It's not the worst spawning system I've ever seen but I can't count the number of times I've been killed only to respawn in the path of the person who just killed me (or their entire team) or in line of sight of the person who killed me only to shoot them in the head once and then laugh about my stupidly convenient kill. I also like when I am spawned in the exact same spot I had previously spawned/been killed by.They need to be intelligent spawns because they currently seem to be close to completely random. The only time I think I've ever seen a spawn that actually remotely made any sense given the situation was when it was 5 on 1 (myself the 1) and it was CTF on Ragnarok. The entire other team had camped out my base and so I actually spawned away from my base. I mean, the game did actually spawn me right behind their base (lol...) but at least it cared enough to try. Anyway, tl;dr, spawns suck, pls fix. - Assassinations - everyone's had it done to them. You're in the middle of an assassination, you whip out your knife, and then you see it. A miscievous teammate standing in front of you, carefully taking aim with his best /trollface on. Once you take off the enemy's shield, they then deliver the coup de grace with a carefully placed double tap. The current implementation encourages griefing, there's no other way to describe it. I'm sure after another evening of trying to play I could come up with more, but as for now that's all I've got. Please fix your game or explain why you did the things you've done or in the very least read this and care. I'll never know for two of the three, but if the game is fixed then I'll know someone cares enough to acknowledge their mistakes and correct what is broken. At the end of the day I think that's basically what everyone really wants.
