  1. Here's another forum game. Each member posts "suggestions" for Halo 5 that would completely ruin the game and the rest of the franchise. Pretty simple and straightforward. For example: In Halo 5, Master Chief joins a gang of Jiralhanae and Kig-Yar which speak and act like 19th century British sailors. They get on a stereotypical wooden ship and act as pirates, stealing treasure and fighting their way past sharks with Spartan lasers attached to their heads. At the end they find the location of a mythical treasure in an underwater cave, only to find that it is not there. John takes his helmet off, puts the barrel of a DMR in his mouth, and pulls the trigger. The screen cuts to black and the credits roll.
  2. I agree on certain points, but you're being too harsh. This guy isn't a troll. He's either new to the community or doesn't read the novels/other media, which is not a crime. ONI couldn't care less about Cortana; the loss of one AI is meaningless unless it compromises functioning ability. John functions perfectly well without Cortana, as we saw in Halo 3. John is not the last Spartan-II; the others, along with the surviving Spartan-IIIs, were rescued from the Dyson sphere along with Halsey.
  3. True, Halo is quite unique in that sense. You don't fight humans in Half-Life 2, either, but you still oppose Dr. Breen, who acts as the Combine's voice. If ONI succeeds with their plot and wipes out the Sangheili or turns them all against humanity again, that would damage the plot.
  4. It seems that practically everyone in the Halo community wants the Arbiter and his allies back in the game (hopefully they'll be playable in multiplayer). Most of the people who are Halo novel-wise also want the return of Blue Team and a number of people want to at least find out what happened to Bornstellar. My question is, do you want these characters in Halo 5? Do you just want them at some point in the saga? Or do you not want them in the saga at all? Vote on the poll and explain why.
  5. The Arbiter is too awesome to be shoved to the sidelines for good. However, I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed, so I'm going to be cautious and say that he has a 70-80% chance of being in Halo 5, or whatever they're going to call it.
  6. I think all of the "evil" factions in the Halo universe (most of them, anyway) at this point are in that grey zone. The Didact believes he's protecting the galaxy; the Storm Faction is trying to preserve their religion, and ONI believes they're keeping the human race safe.
  7. So you don't care about anything plot-related? Playable Elites worked perfectly well in Halo 2 and 3. There is nothing that will prevent 343 from making them balanced.
  8. In The Thursday War, ONI went even further, trying to completely eradicate all non-human life in the galaxy. They sabotaged the Sangheili food supply, replacing it with an indigestible grain that will outcompete the native crops. They also destroyed a number of the Arbiter's cruisers to ensure that he did not remain in power on Sanghelios (not out in the open, of course; they posed as Kig-Yar pirates. It's still unknown why they're trying to continue the war, and it's just my opinion, but I think they'll need to be found out and stopped.
  9. Why should you deny casual gamers the opportunity to enjoy themselves? Halo 4 is more enjoyable for the casual gamers, while still being fun for more devoted and/or skilled gamers. Sure, it might not be quite as challenging as Halo 3 or Reach, but it's entertaining.
  10. According to Halopedia, the Arbiter, some time between the events of The Thursday War and Spartan Ops, is still trying to establish an alliance between the former Covenant species and the humans. Apparently the Infinity is assigned to escort the Arbiter's ship(s) in an attempt to establish a cease-fire with the Jiralhanae, only to have the negotiations interrupted. Halopedia cited this: http://www.darkhorse.com/Blog/1442/dark-horse-announces-all-new-halo-ongoing-series-e as the source. Who do you think is trying to stop negotiations and keep the galaxy at war? Could it be the Storm faction, or the Servants of Abiding Truth? Time will tell, but it looks like Halo: Initiation might involve the UNSC fighting alongside the Arbiter's forces at some point. Thoughts?
  11. Yes, Cortana could totally survive the destruction of her data chip, and then the disintegration of the systems she was installed in through nuclear fission. Makes perfect sense. Have you even paid attention to the Spartan Ops episodes? Even the first episode says clearly "New Phoenix incident + six months". Thanks. Really appreciate the compliment. No, it wouldn't. Cortana was not in ODST at all and only had a very brief cameo in Reach. Are those games "ruined" because of it?
  12. I don't believe Halo is dead at all. I believe it's changing a bit in terms of gameplay. Halo 4's gameplay is close to that of Halo: Reach. I mean that there are certain Halo fans who believe the series is dead, and I was advising any of them who might see the thread to at least give future installments a try.
  13. ...that the majority of gamers chosing PS4, as well as the splintered Halo community, will put the Halo series out of business before it's concluded. 343i stated that they will continue the Halo series only for as long as it's profitable, and I'm getting concerned about that. There are many people, including myself, who find Halo amazing for its story as well as the gameplay, and we want to see the series conclude, not fade off. So, anyone who thinks the series is dead, please at least buy future installments and give the campaign a try for the sake of the rest of the community. Does anyone else feel this way?
  14. Might just be me, but Immaterial was amazing, too, particularly when it played during the level "Composer". I think it sounds like screams and is one of the few pieces of game music that I found, well, unnerving.
  15. I think he meant the Sangheili civil war, which as far as we know is still ongoing.
  16. I wasn't comparing their quality so much as I was their context. Mausoleum Suite didn't fit the battle with Tartarus as well as 117 fit flying along the hull of the Mantle's Approach. Hard to say which is better out of the two, but I think I have a slight preference for Mjolnir Mix over 117.
  17. I should have said loadouts are more common on PC games than on console games. But there are many games that have class-based gameplay or variations of the loadout system. People complain about Halo changing, yet those same people complain about CoD being the same...if Halo never changes, then it will become exactly what you don't want it to be. If you want Halo 3, no one is stopping you from playing it. In fact a fair number of fans still play Halo 3. Also, Halo 4's loadout system is not the same as CoD's to begin with. There is no spawning with power weapons, no deathstreaks, and so on. There honestly is no pleasing some people...
  18. This. I'm already saving up money for some software, plane tickets and a new filtration system for my reef aquarium, so I don't have $500 to spare atm. I also agree that Halo 5 will probably not be on the 360. It's one of the main reasons why a number of people are getting the Xbox One to start with. Not sure if I like the "always online" policy, though.
  19. You do realize that if Halo's multiplayer stayed the same, it would be exactly what you dislike about CoD: always the same thing. You can't have it both ways. Loadouts are a common video game thing, not at all exclusive to CoD. Armor abilities have been around since Halo: Reach and were not put in the game by 343i. While returning to Halo 2 and 3 style gameplay might help short-term, in the long-term, it will do more harm than good and actually would make Halo like Call of Duty. That being said, I would love a gametype that plays like Halo 2 and 3. Maybe we could have "Classic Slayer" and "Infinity Slayer".
  20. 10. No armor lock. 9. Dual-wielding 8. A Promethean vehicle. 7. The return of Scarabs as bosses. 6. Have Spartan-IIs and IIIs from the books appear. 5. Explore ONI's actions towards Halsey and the Storm Faction. 4. Cortana does not return. 3. Bring back Firefight, or make the in-game events in Spartan Ops more story-related. 2. Explain the IsoDidact's fate and make him an ally if he is still alive. 1. Arbiter and friendly Elites. A couple of Grunts thrown in there with them would be nice, too. EXTRA: Ensure that the main character(s) that die go out heroically, and not by "SURPRISE HEADSHOT LOLZ!!!" like Kat did.
  21. A mix of Halo 3 and 4's music in my opinion. Halo 2's gameplay is amazing, but as I said, the music is too serene. Which music do you think sets the climactic mood better? This: or this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKoFUCqlcHs
  22. Ripa 'Moramee and Rtas 'Vadam are the only left-handed Sangheili that have been seen in-game aside from the one who oversaw Noble Six's death. Thel 'Vadam would have been on his flagship at the time anyway, not on the ground. The Elite in the final cutscene of Halo: Reach appears to have been an Ultra as well, which wouldn't fit with Thel's rank of Supreme Commander. So no, it wasn't him. It's unlikely that only two members of a species consisting of billions, or millions for that matter, of individuals are left-handed.
  23. Granted. But you drop it and it fires, hitting you in the groin. I wish I had a pet bald eagle.
  24. This. Way too much money for such a simple feature. Halo also needs to be a functional game, not a show-off of effects. Plus voice control would probably raise a tsunami of problems and break the game beyond belief. P.S. Imagine if they made the voice control complete, and your allies always did exactly as you said- -and as you were walking away from the Xbox to get something to eat, you stubbed your toe and cursed......
