There is a button when you go into a subforum like "Offbeats" for example saying "Start new topic". From there you type the content you want and post.

how do i like things

When you see a post you want to like there is a button on the bottom right of the post, click it, and the user who you 'liked' gets a +1 to their 'like' rep.
