AMD's latest APU, might power the next generation of Xbox 360, according to rumours. The upcoming APU is based on Trinity architecture.
Rumours suggest that Microsoft has already decided to power its next gaming console using this APU. AMD will launch the first Trinity-based APU in 2012. It claims that this new APU is 50% more powerful than its current Liano-based APU. It is worth noting that both, the current as well as upcoming APUs support DirectX 11.
Fuelling rumours, a high-ranking AMD employee from its Graphics Products Group has talked about Microsoft's next gaming console. He has claimed that it will deliver a level of realism in graphics similar to what was seen in James Cameron's movie Avatar. Microsoft on the other hand, has even denied working on a next generation console. However, it is very likely that it is indeed working on one and is likely to show it off at E3 2012.
