  1. Seriously? That game was the ****, I never had live when it was out (because I was a broke MFer) but the multiplayer was pretty crazy awesome. Campaign was huge and badass, too. The storyline was similar to CE, but it also got told from the viewpoint of an Elite. It was just a way more ambitious, badass plot than CE (and arguably bigger in terms of plot progression and innovation than any subsequent game).
  2. Also, in an easter egg for Firefly fans, there's a point in the Halo 3 campaign where Fillion's voice comes over the radio and identifies himself as "Sergeant Reynolds".
  3. They said it was the same reason that they didn't get to do a lot of the finishing touches they wanted, they just ran out of time and resources and that was going to be a lot of work. They'd already postponed it a ton of times. The basis was going to be that you use the Tank to escape what was essentially the end of Halo 3, where the Gravemind is tentacle-raping the Halo firing control room on the Ark (I think, they were kinda vague), although obviously on the Halo 2 ring instead of the Ark.

    RE: The SAW

I'm glad I'm not alone on this one. Halo isn't a "****loads of the same kind of gun, pick one" game, it's a "Take this, it's the most badass version of this type of gun" game.

    RE: The SAW

The comparison comes up because CoD is the shooter that's furthest from a Halo experience, in terms of characters, gameplay, weapons, etc. That, and it's the game that just about every other tactical shooter is ripping off nowadays, so that's the one I compare it to. And CoD carries the general connotation of 12-year-olds camping with LMGs and blowing through clips in two seconds.
  6. It's the idea of playing against Elites in MM that upsets me, as in 3 when you'd end up with Spartans vs. Elites. It's a twist in the gameplay that doesn't make it any more fun.
  7. Halo 3 had them too, and the hit detection was for ****. I must've taken a month off my life by raging when I popped one of those ***** in the head and he didn't die. It's just a wrench in the works. It's a more level playing field when everyone is the same height/size. The tradeoff of Elites being bigger/easier to hit is bull**** when you factor in their speed and strength, it's not like the extra six inches makes a difference on a screen. Screw Elites.
  8. Buck was in the first mission in Halo 3. He was the ODST that the brute was questioning, he told him to kiss his ***, because Buck ain't taking no **** from a Brute. He said the team of Brutes that captured him killed his men, so the whole ODST squad but him died. He went to the Ark, and it can be inferred that he escaped along with Lord Hood's forces, at least that's what I like to think because Buck was cool as balls. Plus I'm a Nathan Fillion fan.
  9. Jason Jones wanted to include a level in Halo 2 that he just called "Forerunner Tank". As he put it, "Forerunner Tank. Awesomeness will ensue." I'm inclined to agree.

    RE: The SAW

Here's an option I hadn't considered but am totally behind. And as a side note, it kind of emasculates the regular AR, which has always been the Chief's workhorse. I love that weapon, if not always for its use in combat then for sentimental value. If I had a nickel for every enemy that's fallen at the barrel of my trusty AR, I'd be able to have a working replica of it built.

    RE: The SAW

I just wanted to express my opinion on the SAW. It strikes me as a non-Halo weapon. This isn't CoD, we aren't playing as some ordinary *****-*** Marines. I'm a goddam 8 foot tall, 1000 pound super soldier. If you want a heavy machine gun in Halo, you rip off a turret like a man. It just strikes me as an easy-out, pray and spray weapon. At least with the turrets you have a decrease in speed to balance it out. The SAW looks cool in the Chief's hands, but there's more to it than that. I guess my primary issue is that it seems redundant given all the other automatic weapons that're already established. The argument could be made that it's meant to bring in new blood, but LMGs have been done a bajillion times already, and what I always loved about Halo was that it was different from other shooters. By the way, hello everyone, I'm Mkoll, and I'm opinionated.
