Tor Books, an imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, LLC–the largest publisher of science fiction in the world–is excited to reveal the title, cover, and release date for the second novel in the Halo Forerunner Saga, HALO: PRIMORDIUM, written by legendary science fiction author Greg Bear. Book One of the Forerunner Saga, Halo: Cryptum, is currently available in hardcover, and will be released in a trade paperback this fall. Book Two, HALO: PRIMORDIUM, will be released January 3, 2012 simultaneously alongside its audio edition. The New York Times bestselling Halo series, based on the hugely successful Halo videogame franchise for the Xbox 360, has sold millions of copies, and is part of a global phenomenon that has dominated the science fiction landscape over the last decade. With Halo: Cryptum, Greg Bear began a three-novel saga set in the era of the Forerunners, the ancient and enigmatic builders of the mysterious Halos, and the story continues in HALO: PRIMORDIUM. In Halo: Cryptum, a young, rebellious Manipular embarks on a dangerous search for artifacts belonging to the Precursors—long-vanished super-beings of unknowable power and intent. This quest sets off a devastating chain of events that nearly ends the Forerunner empire. In HALO: PRIMORDIUM, two humans who were former companions of the Manipular find themselves captives pawns in a cosmic game whose madness knows no end—a game of ancient vengeance between the powers who seeded the galaxy with life, and the Forerunners who expect to take up their sacred Mantle of duty to protect all living things. “I’m having great fun working through the action and growing mysteries in HALO: PRIMORDIUM, as humans engage in an epic odyssey across a damaged, war-torn Halo, facing the Flood, rogue AIs, and the stunning testament of the Last Precursor,” says author Greg Bear. “This is classic SF territory for me, and it’s a terrific opportunity to work with the 343 team, and to contribute through these books to both future games and the Halo universe in general.” “In Cryptum, Greg began an exploration of a vast and imposing part of the Halo universe,” says Frank O’Connor, Franchise Development Director for 343 Industries. “In PRIMORDIUM, he takes that story closer to the ground, exploring characters, motivations and mysteries that began in Cryptum and continuing a journey that’s fascinating, horrifying and inspiring, all at once.” Tor Books has proudly partnered with Microsoft and 343 Industries to publish every book set in this iconic universe. Along with the first two books of the Forerunner Saga, Tor has also announced another all-new Halo trilogy penned by Karen Traviss that will explore the Halo Universe in the wake of the final events of Halo 3. Traviss’s first Halo novel, Halo: Glasslands, will be on shelves October 25, 2011. The Halo franchise is an award-winning collection of properties that have grown into a global entertainment phenomenon. Beginning with the original Halo: Combat Evolved for Xbox in 2001, the rich fiction of the franchise has since inspired a series of blockbuster Xbox and Xbox 360 video games, New York Times best-selling novels, comic books, action figures, apparel and more. To date, sales in the Halo franchise have eclipsed $2.3 billion. Microsoft recently dropped a bombshell on Halo fans at E3 with two big announcements: on Nov. 15 2011, Microsoft will release Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, a spectacularly remastered version of the original Halo campaign bundled with some of the most beloved multiplayer maps in Halo history–all created in celebration of the 10th anniversary of one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. Also announced was Halo 4, the hugely-anticipated next blockbuster installment that will mark the beginning of a new Halo trilogy when it releases in-stores during the 2012 holiday season. About Tor Books Tor Books, an imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, LLC, is a New York-based publisher of hardcover and softcover books. Founded in 1980, Tor annually publishes what is arguably the largest and most diverse line of science fiction and fantasy ever produced by a single English-language publisher. In 2002, Tor launched Starscape, an imprint dedicated to publishing quality science fiction and fantasy for young readers, including books by critically acclaimed and award winning authors such as Cory Doctorow, Orson Scott Card, and David Lubar. Between an extensive hardcover and trade-softcover line, an Orb backlist program, and a stronghold in mass-market paperbacks, books from Tor have won every major award in the SF and fantasy fields, and has been named Best Publisher 24 years in a row in the Locus Poll, the largest consumer poll in SF.

unfortunately this is www.343industries.org, and we cannot help, as much as we would like to help, Im sure the ninjas will get round to it eventually
-
that sounds like a plan, and add credits for armour purchasing / unlocking, and I think we have a winner

Got to be honest what about all of the above option. XP mixed with cR. XP for rank, and have the cR for armoury items.

Surely not.............. Why you maybe asking would i want to play xbox 360 titles on my PC? I for one enjoy sitting on my couch playing on my big TV why would i want to play on a laptop or at my PC desk on a small screen. Someone at Microsoft may think differently. Its a rumour thats been thrown around for some time and stems from Microsofts desire to bring its various brands together under 1 visually similar interface. Windows 8 is likely too run on Microsofts Metro interface that it pioneered with the Windows Phone 7. The xbox 360 is next in line with the fall update bringing live tiles and a cleaner crisper feel to the interface and a visually similar feel to both Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 previews. Another interesting fact about Metro interface is Microsoft designed it to not be used with a mouse or keyboard. The Metro powered Xbox dash will best be used with Kinect and i am assuming so will the Windows 8 desktop. Microsoft would never have banked so heavily on Kinect if it was just for the Xbox brand, by utilising a brand new computer interface the match is perfect especially within the growing Tablet market. I can genuinely see the next generation of computers being controlled through Kinect.. Remember Kinect is a concept not just a hardware device. There is no reason Microsoft cant utilise the power of the next generation Processors and add the camera and Microphone equipment to PC's and have Kinect built in. Would it replace the Keyboard and mouse. Maybe not certainly not within a corporate environment but within a home why not, the keyboard and mouse are two things that have changed the least in 20 years. Maybe its time for a change. Take your phone out of your pocket chances are it doesn't have a keyboard its all touch screen right.. So again why a keyboard and mouse when you can move the cursor with your hands and type on a virtual keyboard. The last piece of the puzzle could very well be Microsofts Prototype Surface technology. A few years off it maybe but that coffee table you put your feet up on may one day be a control surface! I'll leave the rest up to your imaginations

I know I am going to do this so many times I will be raging

Rank does need to be based on skill, I have yet to meet an inheritor in game that is actually any good. The ranking system is just like Gears 2 when they changed it to level 1-100. The stripes Gears 2 had were based on skill, you could rank up as well as down, then the number rank came out and it was purely based on games played/type of game played etc. Im a Mythic now, but have a K/D of 0.84, I play cos I enjoy the game, Im not the best, certainly not the worst. I co-operate with a team, I play the game as its meant to be played. People say I dont deserve my rank but with 2,500 games played I certainly do deserve my rank (im a firefight addict) just as in Gears 2 it was horde.
