  4. Double Super Jackpot Weekend Last weekend 343 featured a Super Jackpot in two different playlists. In honor of its double-tacular awesomeness, 343 have decided to continue the festivities this weekend as well. So, starting on Friday and ending on Sunday, hopping into Team Objective and Super Slayer will present you with the chance of receiving a cool 20,000-credit bonus. What does it mean exactly? Well, we’ll leave the deciphering to you
  5. April Matchmaking Playlist Update A wise man once said, “It’s not the size of your update that matters, it’s how you use it.” That general sentiment is particularly relevant for the month of April, as your next matchmaking playlist update, which goes live on April 3, is a bit on the lighter side. Thankfully good things come in small packages, so with that in mind, let’s dive into the specifics of April’s modest but welcome list of changes. • BTB Heavies score to win reduced to 150. We noticed that this particular game type has been ending with the time limit the majority of the time. To help the score limit and time limit be more balanced, we reduced the winning score from 200 to 150. • Big Team Battle updated. Delta Facility and Cragmire, both user-created maps that host the Heavies game type, were removed from Big Team Battle. Their creators are updating them, and we’ll reintroduce both playspaces once they’re ready for the masses. • Super Slayer updated. The following changes were made to the Super Slayer playlist: Elite Slayer and some user-created maps were removed, and big-party matching was enabled (teams of 3-4 will be matched with other teams of 3-4). • Swat updated. Uncaged and Pinnacle were removed from Swat. • MLG updated. MLG was updated to Version 7 for both maps and game types, which are currently being played this MLG season. The third voting option was also removed, per MLG’s request. • Arena updated. The Jetpack loadout was removed from Arena. We will be watching Arena’s population to help determine whether or not this will be a permanent change. • Powerhouse updated. Fusion cores were added to the Concrete Vents area. This may or may not be relevant to jetpackers’ interests….

  7. This weekend will see the beginning of yet another Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekend on Xbox 360, this time with Operation: Raptor, which tasks players with bolstering the Alliance's effective military strength by promoting 150,000 characters across the entire community. Upon achieving the 150,000 characters promoted goal, Victory Packs will be awarded to all participating players, while any individual players who manage to promote two characters will gain a Commendation Pack as a reward. Promoting characters also adds to your War Assets in the single-player campaign. You can join the online war against the Reapers in Mass Effect 3's Operation: Raptor multiplayer event from Friday March 30th, 5PM PST until Monday April 2nd, 5PM PST, and any Victory or Commendation Packs earned will be awarded the following week. <courtesy of x360a>
  8. GAME are poised to leave administration, with a Royal Bank of Scotland led consortium preparing to bail out the ailing retailer, according to the latest reports. “Sources” close to the deal reckon that it could be signed off as early as tomorrow. Should it go through, the rescue package will raise a few questions, especially regarding RBS’ rumoured block of a bid by OpCapita before GAME went into administration last week. Such behaviour suggests, but by no means confirms, that RBS - who are already a leading funder to the company - wanted GAME to slip into administration so they could arrange a cheaper deal once the time came. Allegedly. Don't sue me. In the last few days, GAME’s administrators have shut 277 stores with a view to making 2014 redundant. Yet the potential RBS deal does not guarantee those jobs, nor the reopening of the stores. GAME’s future still looks very different to its past.

  10. Activision hasn't even got around to announcing it yet, but that hasn't stopped the internet from grinding into action with yet more rumours regarding Treyarch's proposed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. That's even assuming that it'll be Treyarch and Black Ops 2. Nothing's official at present. Today sees some multiplayer details hitting the web, regardless. The leaked multiplayer details come via MP1st, in a forum thread that has since been shut down by Activision, which only serves to lend a little extra weight to the rumoured modes and other features in the extensive list, which also reckons that the game will be releasing in November, which is admittedly a no-brainer. Here's the complete list of rumoured Black Ops 2 features. Pinch of salt implied: Game Modes •Escort, a new game mode •> Similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed. •>The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only. •Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return •Team Defender and Infected will not return Pointstreaks •Will follow from Modern Warfare 3’s system •Larger emphasis on objectives •> A bomb plant is worth 2 points •> A neutral flag is worth 1, however an enemy flag is worth 2 •> A flag assist capture is worth 1, a capture is worth 2 • The Specialist Pointstreak has be modified •> 2 kills now gets you 1 perk •> The 4th kill gets you 2 more perks •> The 6th kill gets you 3 more perks •> The 8th Kill gets you 4 more perks •> You do not get every perk when you reach 8 kills •> Perks only become “Pro” when you have them Pro • RC XD will not return •Heat vision •> Is a new Pointstreak reward •> When you get the required points, you can activate this Pointstreak and your player pulls out a scope and attaches it to your weapon. •> This scopes main advantage is it’s ability to detect enemies through most walls. •> Note, the scope can only be attached to primaries not including shotguns •Item Packages •> Requires 5 points •> Fall along side care packages and air drop traps. •> Features a list of package items only •> Including ammo, mini gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, and body armor Prestiges •There will be 15 prestiges •There will be 50 ranks •Every two prestiges there is a 5 rank increase •The final prestige has 90 levels ELITE 2.0 •ELITE is being fully incorporated into Black Ops 2 •Combat record has been modified and re-named as ELITE Stats •There will be a specific lobby for clan matches (new way of leveling clans) •Clan Tournaments can now be implemented Removed •No MOAB or Nuke •No last stand •No death streaks •No flame thrower attachment Map Design •Map design and size will be following Black Ops not Modern Warfare 3 Sniper Rifles •Improved sniper rifle usage. •No aim assist for any sniper rifle. •Less sway Customisation •No longer just perk 1 chooses the players appearance •Appearance is a combination of all perks and type of Pointstreak being used. Hardcore •Larger emphasis on hardcore than ever before •No grenade launchers •Only vehicle guided rocket launchers permitted •Respawn timings decreased (for most modes) •1 bullet in the foot will no longer kill a person, a head or chest shot is usually required. •A person will now bleed out if severely injured. Perk System 2.0 •The Perk Pro system has been upgraded •There is now 2 options a perk can advance to. •Both require different challenges to unlock •Once the desired Pro version is unlocked, the player can select that as their “Perk Pro”. •Once selected, the only way to choose the other option is by entering prestige mode. •For example Perk slot 1 has the perk called Speed •Speed – Reduces the time taken to aim down the sight •> Pro I – Swaps weapons faster •> Pro II – Throws equipment faster Combat Training •Will be returning with vast improvements. •Difficulty is no longer based on how long the bots take to start shooting. •Bots now have an advance AI system •Similar to the behaviour seen in the MW3 Spec Ops survival Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has promised "meaningful innovation" for the next Call of Duty title, as well as the arrival of CoD: Elite 2.0, and Treyarch and Infinity Ward will be collaborating on future Call of Duty games. Expect more rumours, conjecture and hearsay until Activision makes the next CoD official...

  14. Sick to death of the thousands of cars in Forza Motorsport 4? Don't despair, as Turn 10 and Microsoft have got another ten on the cards as upcoming DLC, with the April Alpinestars Car Pack. There's all sorts of high-performance rides, as you'd expect, including precision-tuned German race cars, rotary engine beasts, and American late-50s classics. Here's the list: 2011 Mercedes-Benz #35 Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3 – Featuring a replica livery of a race-winning Mercedes from 40 years prior, the Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3 is itself no stranger to excellent track performance. The SLS’s distinctive gullwing doors are a welcome nod to classic Mercedes style, and the car’s deep carbon fiber splitter and low roofline keep it firmly planted in the present. With the GT3, Mercedes is poised for more racing success ahead. 2011 Aston Martin #009 Aston Martin Racing AMR One – Engineered to take advantage of the FIA’s emergency efficiency-focused regulations, the Aston Martin AMR One employs an in-line, 2-liter, 6-cylinder turbo that produces upwards of 540 hp. 2012 Jaguar XKR-S – The XKR-S is Jaguar’s first full production car to be a member of the elite 300 kmh (186 mph) club. It’s a strong road performer with a powerful engine and adaptive damping and stability control to keep the car stuck to the road. In all, the XKR-S is a potent mix of power, precision, and typical Jaguar beauty. 1995 BMW M5 – BMW’s M5 line has always represented a full-bodied combination of power and luxury and nowhere is that more evident than in the 1995 M5. The quick-revving, 3.8 liter, 24-valve straight-6 engine delivers north of 300 hp and the 6-speed transmission was one of the few available in the mid-1990s. One drive is all you’ll need to understand why so many BMW fans wish to lead the pack in this 4-door luxury sedan. 2011 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S – The Quattroporte Sport GT S is the automotive equivalent of an Italian opera. The Ferrari-built engine provides a concert of throaty rumblings whose volume and tone can be controlled via a valve-controlled exhaust. But this car can do more than produce an aria of exhaust notes; the Sport GT S is adept in the corners and no slouch on the straightaways too. 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE – Innovation and affordability combine with this mid-80s rotary masterpiece from Mazda. The GSL-SE introduced the legendary 13B engine, the largest, most powerful RX-7 engine ever developed at the time. Combine that with a light frame and perfect weight distribution and you’ve got a serious performer on your hands. 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 – A beautifully appointed luxury saloon, the 300 SEL 6.3 also features a big single overhead cam, pushing the car from 0-60 in just 6.5 seconds and making it the fastest sedan in the world at the time. 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible - Named after the sophisticated French resort town patronised by the likes of Napoleon and Queen Victoria, the Biarritz convertible defined elegance and grace in the late automotive world of the 1950s. It also had at least one very famous owner: “The King” Elvis Presley, whose “Pink Cadillac” has inspired numerous songs and movies. 1997 Volvo 850 R – While the terms “sports” and “wagon” rarely come together, they fit nicely when describing the 850 R. It’s the perfect ride for hauling the kids, the dogs, and some groceries around, but it also sports a turbo-powered 5-cylinder engine that tops out north of 150 mph. You might not need all that power on your trip to the local hardware store but, in Forza 4, it will serve you well. 2012 Scion tC - Functional, sporty, safe, and well-equipped, sum up the 2012 Scion tC. For 2012, the body received a much more chiseled look and, as with all Scion’s, the list of dealer options is very long. The Forza Motorsport 4 April Alpinestars Car Pack will be heading to the Xbox Live Marketplace on April 3rd for 560 Microsoft Points or you can download it as part of the Forza 4 Season Pass for 2400 Microsoft Points.

  16. Infinity Ward's Creative Strategist and public face of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Robert Bowling has announced today that he's departing the studio behind the MW series, although where he's heading next is unknown. "Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision," Bowling declared via his Twitter feed, neglecting to say what he'll be doing next. Activison responded to Bowling's resignation with an official comment [via Joystiq]: "We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service.
