Tis' a big rumour this, but one that could have an element of truth to it. In the latest issue of OXM US, there's a rumour that Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly might be taking up the Gears of War mantle from Epic for a prequel trilogy, presumably set during the Pendulum Wars. “Gears of War will live on, of course, but in what form? A prequel trilogy developed by Epic-owned People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) as a likely scenario”, reads a comment in the magazine's rumour section [via CVG]. And given that People Can Fly is not only owned by Epic Games, but is also no stranger to Gears having developed the PC version of the original game in 2007, the rumour seems possible. One thing's for sure: there's no way in hell that Epic or Microsoft is done with Gears of War just yet. Not by a long chalk. So, a prequel trilogy would make a lot of sense. Obviously, nothing has been confirmed for now, so stick this in the 'maybe' pile.

Infinity Ward has issued a warning to cheaters exploiting hacks and glitches in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's online multiplayer, with over 1600 bans already issued to underhand players. "Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works," Infinity Ward's Creative Strategist, Rob Bowling explained with a sternly-worded tweet. "There's a button in game after a match," stated Bowling to help encourage players to report cheaters. "Click on them in the lobby and it gives option to View Gamercard + Report Player." And if you think you're safe from a ban because Infinity Ward and Activision need video evidence first, you'd be dead wrong. "Stats are always recorded, we can verify and detect cheating without video proof," said Bowling. Of course, cheating, hacks, glitches and Modern Warfare 3 go hand in hand, but it's quite another thing to take advantage of them to accumulate more XP, which has led Infinity Ward to look at a series of different bans based upon the severity of the offence, using the '****** scale'. "Every ban is unique to the level of douchiness of the offense," Bowling explained. "The greater the ****** the greater the length. PermaDouche possible." So, don't be a PermaDouche. Enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 without cheating, and you'll be fine.

This week on Xbox Live sees a shedload of deals hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace for Black Friday week, with the XBL Appreciation Sale offering an array of discounts on a load of games, avatar items and other stuff, while Black Friday deals are also slashing the prices of a variety of XBLA titles and DLC. If you're after something new though, then you can grab Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?: Special Editions whould see you right, with an accompanying pair of DLC packs to boost the number of questions on offer. There's a movie add-on and South Park pack coming on the same day the game launches, which is tomorrow. Yep happened to me with Halo 3. Played it soldily on day of release on last level had to nip out so switched off Xbox ... Bang no campaign data saved.
