HALO 5 - New information I found online
AsquithMike replied to AsquithMike's topic in General Discussion
I know, sounds awesome already, if its not just a rumor. It reads as if it is mainly talking about the improvements on what was in Halo 4. I hope at the very least the Campaign portion of it is somewhat true. If so, then I will very happy. Its just every Halo campaign to date takes (on legendary if you snail through every mission) roughly 3 - 5 hours, at most. It would be cool to see a campaign that is much longer, and one that has more freedom. I'm all for linear storytelling, but a little freedom goes a long way, especially in a universe as big as Halo's. ODST was still very straight forward, it blocked portions of the map making sure that you would find your objective. I would prefer a little more freedom. Being able to visit vast planets and environments, participate in enormous battles between the covenant, forerunners, etc would be amazing. I'm sure many would agree, linear gets right to it, but with some freedom comes more fun. And I think the freedom part is more to do with Xbox One (new machine so test out its limits per say) and the fact MC no longer has Cortana so I guess he just roams about? Unsure as to where to go, so its for you to decide. Multiplayer seems a little sparse in the explanation, but I would imagine it would also include the things we have in Halo 4 + what was written. I dunno, seemed like a cool bit of news I found and I thought I would share. And now.................some more of this -
So I found this online and figured I would share. If 343 does go this route, I will forever be a number one fan. The link to the article is below. I posted my favorite part from it below. http://www.idigitaltimes.com/articles/19745/20130903/halo-5-release-date-news-plot-details.htm At the moment 343i is in the prototype phase, but i will post the current state of Halo for Xbox One. Just a reminder that the game you will see probably wont feature everything you are reading here. Tech: 60 FPS has been confirmed at E3, now the team around Corinne is basically taking the Halo 4 Engine, "dumps" it on Xbox One Devkits and measures the perfomance and goes from there. The Xbox One hardware is really powerful, though as many have stated not as powerful as Sony's machine. Nevertheless the team does have the goal to create one of the best looking titles next year. People are seriously overstating the power difference and underestimate the potential of the eSRAM (yes, it was included for bandwidth reasons, but the low latency does increase efficiencs in real world perfomance, if the eSRAM is used in smart way. I basically got the same code, with some optimization with the eSRAM running only 20% worse on Xbox Oen than on a PS4-Devkit from January. Now what tech and graphical features will be implemented? Deferred Shading will finally be implemented, Halo 4 was really sparse on terms of dynamic lights, a drawback of havin to use a traditional forward renderer. G-Buffer will consist of 4 MRTs. The entire pipeline is HDR and linear space. Those Render Targets will probably be stored in the eSRAM or split between the two pools, depending on perfomance. Some form of SSAO will also be implemented, Halo 4 only had static and baked AO which looked great in pictures. PRTs will be used, current tests with eSRAM and the results are amazing. Thanks to 5GB of ram (soon 6GB ) the textures will look amazing and the models will have plenty detail. There are a few drawbacks with aiming for 60 FPS. First the game will not render in native 1080p. Current resoultion on display plane 2 is 1920x720 (1,3 Megapixel compared to 2 for 1080p), display plane 1 (HUD an weapon) will be native 1080p. You literally cant tell the difference. Cloud: Dedicated Server. First titel to showcase true power of cloud processing. Massive battles with 100s of AI (calculated by the cloud); massive worlds with dynamic weathher and global lighting (all done in cloud). And yes, this will need an alway online connection(you dont need a powerful connection, those data pakets are really small) Game: Campaign is planned to be 3-5 times longer than Halo 4. No more linear , going open world. Master Chief has gone rogue, has own ship and can visit different planets (6-8 planned). Each planet has several regions with main objectives and several side missions. ( Think of Wings of Liberty or Dawn of War 2 cmapaign) Core gameplay is still Halo (2 weapons, grenades, melee; "30 seconds of fun"; sevaral different enemies) but there are RPG elements added to it: character progression (mostly items like forerunner relicts you will find that make Master Chief stronger or will give him more ablities), not really loot, but you will have to acquire weapons first, before you can use them in more missions. Weapons are stored in the armory on the ship and chief can choose his loadout, which he will use on the mission start. He can still pickup and use the weapons he finds in the different missions.Loadout weapons are basically the same you have in Halo 4 Multiplayer (you cant start with a rocket launcher, but you can call in those "super weapons" on a mission like in Infinity Multiplayer; difference is this is a limited ability, at "low level" you can call one time, this can be upgraded over time) There will be more weapons in campaign than in Halo 4(and yes more "alien" weapons; not just human weapons with a different coat) Enemies: Elites (the same faction you fought in Halo 4), Grunts, Jackals, Hunter, Brutes, Drones Promethean (heavily redesigned, more types like Promethean Warlords) Humans (yep you will gith humans, but not UNSC, those are Insurrectionists) Vehicles: Biggest number of vehicles ever. Warthog (classic, rocket, gauss), Scorpion and yes the Grizzly will be in, Mammoth, upgraded Mantis, more Halo Wars vehicles like rhino, wolverine, cobra, hornets, falcons, vultures Chiefs ship can store a limited amount of vehicles (call in similar to weapons) Forerunner War Sphinx are in, very powerful enemy "vehicles" (and yep you will fight them) To put the gameplay in campaign into perspective: The team was running an encounter test in the Halo 4 engine with prototype models. This encounter featured several hundreds of Brutes with 2 Scarabs, 10 wraiths and several ghosts and banshees fightin against one Forerunner War Sphinx and some Prometheans. Now the player could engage in that battle or just simply watch them fight (Power of the Cloud: AI in short distance to chief is process on the box; rest in the cloud) and pick off the remaing forces. Well the current player chose to engange, took his Hornet and landed it on one of the Scarabs ( the AI is amazing, the Brutes had now to choose who to fight, most forces fought against the Prometheans, a few took on the fight with chief; it really looks and feels like every single AI makes smart and menaingfull decisions)) The Player killed of the crew on the Scarab and well, thise time he doenst destroy the Core, he gets behind the wheel of the Scarav All hell breaks loose, brute forces more and more engage the rogue Scarab, while the Prometheans dont really difference their enemies. And yep the Scarabs is destroyed withing seconds , thought the Player surived thanks to god-mode. Those are the kinds of encounter you will find in the final game. Multiplayer: Split between two categories. Halo Wararena ist basically Halo 2 reloaded. No loadouts, no armor abilites and perks. Player Count 8-16, game types are Slayer, CTF(yes classic Halo CTF ), King of the Hill, Assault, Oddball.... Static weapon spawns, more weapons on map which means more ammo, weapons wont respawn as quick as in Halo 4 The seconds multiplayer categorie is titles Halo Battlefield (not final name obviously). Those are basically really big teams battles like 32-64. Gameplay is more inline with Invasion from Halo Reach. Custom Loadouts, "armor abilites" (more like class abilites), Vehicles, Infinity like call ins Thats it for the moment. Just a small glimpse into what you will eventually play in November 2014.

1. Would never work. Halo Multiplayer has 7 minute games, if everyone was allowed to take cover the game would last much longer as that would mean many player would not need skill in order to survive. As it stands right now, you need to be quick, precise, and have a good grasp of the map in order to survive. Add cover to that, and the game goes to hell. 2. Invasion was fun, added a sense of objectivity to multiplayer. Made it so there was something to do. I think 343 tried to replace that game variant with Spartan Ops. While Spartan Ops was cool, it was the same as Invasion. Agreed. 3. No. No discussion required. This is not CoD, Battlefield, or Gears of War. It is Halo.
-
Now hang on a minute. It sounds very similar to Star Wars: Battlefront series, which I have to say was a great series. Thank you SPARTAN 117 for the Battlefront reference. I think if they did something like that, they would attract more of the RTS players (expand their ever growing community of players) which 343 might do. I personally love Halo the way it is. Don't change the main series of games. But I also loved Halo Wars, was a nice side game. I see nothing wrong with making a Halo themed FPS/RTS game variant. It would be awesome (if it was made correctly).

You forget those sub-games did not include the Master Chief in any way either. They were made purely as filler games, to tie up fan related plot interests (Reach more so than ODST). If the game included MC, it would have to have Cortana in it. Whether she be involved directly in game play or whether she was just involved in the story. End of Discussion.

Depends on which theory you wish to believe. -- Geas were removed by the forerunners when they brought the humans back to Earth (the special voice reading of the epilogue of Silentium references this). -- Domain was never mentioned to have been destroyed. It was theorized that the Halos would eradicate it. The place the Librarian met MC in was thought to be an area of the domain (in their mind) as well as when she met Dr. Halsey (Spartan Ops). So. Say what you will. I believe in a very different version of Halo than most. All will be revealed when the next few installments come out (Halo 5 and 6). Then we will see exactly which direction 343 decided to go.
-
OK. As ridiculous as you have made yourself out to be, let us be clear on this matter: Spartan Ops is a canonical multiplayer story line, meaning it does ACTUALLY happen, and does contribute to the story. Keep this in mind.

Halo 5 and 6 - Story Plot - Another brainstorm
AsquithMike replied to AsquithMike's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
For the first point - Never read Grasslands, interesting though but still irrelevant to the main part of my hypothesis. As for the second point - I said in the original post : as it states 'in their galaxy'. So im not sure why that bothers you. Post something informative and or relating to the thread you are replying to. Posting about stuff that 'bugs you' is neither helpful nor informative, other than making you come off as some rambling idiot.- 17 replies

Halo 5 and 6 - Story Plot - Another brainstorm
AsquithMike replied to AsquithMike's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
Mendicant Bias already paid for his penance by helping Master Chief on the Ark, he was sealed there by Bornstellar at the end of the Forerunner Saga (books). (only one part as; (1)one was destroyed during the Forerunner Flood War, (2) another was sealed away on the Lesser Ark, and (3) the covenant city of High Charity had a fragment of him in the Dreadnought the Prophet of Truth used to open the portal to the Ark). Here is the link: Apparently they are making Halo 5 into a semi-RPG based first person shooter. Kinda like Destiny but not, as it would still have a straight way story line (everything affects the main story line, no side quests and ****) but apparently you get to explore 8 different planets searching for 'something'. There is a link for that too: http://www.examiner.com/article/halo-5-xbox-one-rumored-campaign-details-potentially-leaked Sounds interesting. Look forward to seeing the game.- 17 replies

Hello Everybody! I was new to this forum in April, lol. Finally found my way around to the PM box and of course it had a message stating I should probably try posting an introduction as it may help for people getting to know me. So figured I would post about me, or at least a little bit about me, and why I decided to join. Me -- I love and currently dream all things Halo related (books, games, online stories, fan fiction, personal fiction, canon, etc) probably wouldn't find someone as intensely interested in the Halo universe as me (though I know those people exist lol) -- From Canada, Newmarket more specifically, and not a fan. Its cold and hot, never an in between, and for some reason I find myself wishing it would rain more (though that may be my British background doing its job) -- New to forums and online discussions - never been on or taken part in anything online and figured I would try it, see how it goes (no better way to start out than talking about the things you love I suppose) Why I joined -- I love Halo - almost every aspect and detail intrigues me. And so, to broaden my already diverse intellect on Halo, I joined to share my ideas, thoughts, opinions on the Halo universe, and to hear, share, and read other peoples ideas, thoughts, and opinions. Halo will always be a part of my life that I would never want to change, and so, I would rather add to my already intense obsession, simply because it is one of the few things in my life that I enjoy. Feel free to reply or message me. I don`t bite, am open to discussion for most things, and am a generally nice guy. *****I want to post this emoticon even though I don`t know its purpose but the sight of a smiley spanking another smiley make me smile.

Flood Changes - Why Aren't you HEARING us 343?!?!?!!?
AsquithMike replied to shanodd's topic in General Discussion
I love the dying horse sounds! They make me laugh -
I love the thought of a Halo RPG. There are endless possibilities. Now, there are many ways to do it. --You could wing it and throw everything together and let the player decide what they wanna do (Skyrim - my god I got lost so many times, but once I got started, I was cool) --have a structured story with set side quests, and allow for customization (Star Wars KotOR, KotOR2, Mass Effect Series) --could even be as weird as to make it in the likeness of Assassins Creed And there are pros and cons to all things: Everything RPG (Skyrim) PROS --fully customizable (race, skin, armour, abilities, weapons, vehicles, etc) --open plane, large maps, endless quests CONS --easy to get lost --kinda buggy because of the size Structured RPG (Mass Effect) PROS --very customizable (gender, armour, job class, skills, weapons - to a degree) --Somewhat open yet more precise, everything is related to the overall story CONS --games like this tend to be shorter (if you game like a mother trucker) --often times you are limited in what abilities/ Job classes/ appearances you can have to allow for a much smoother gaming experience --often times does not have an endless gaming component, will have an absolute end at some point AC RPG PROS --open, allows for endless gaming --has a lot of collectibles and what have you CONS --not sure how they would make the memory thing work, maybe through video playback of something --not sure why anybody would model a game after AC Anywhos, those were my thoughts, I can elaborate more if you like.

Halo will always be for Microsoft. That is certain. Xbox One isn't all that bad, not sure why people are so up in arms over it. They had a rocky start, but they smoothed out all the bugs. They fixed the online every 24 hours things, and the used games thing. So now it is basically the same as the PS4. Also, the only thing Microsoft did wrong about the Xbox One reveal was that they did their reveal first, then Sony did theirs. Microsoft released details first, then Sony did after. Basically, Sony waited until Microsoft unveiled the details about the Xbox One, then they altered what they were saying in order to take cheap shots at Xbox One. Which is good marketing to most, but for a company to throw low blows simply because they want the business is not a company I would like to support. Whilst I am not biased - I own both a 360 and PS3 - I have to say, the quality of games, selection, and versatility of 360 has always been more appealing to me. PS3 had its moments with some games (ie not having to wait 10 minutes in a matchmaking lobby, blueray, etc.) but overall Xbox One seems to be the only console I would put my money on, just based on what was said up until now about both consoles. I am sure after a few months, the bugs with both consoles will be revealed and they may even have a patch for them, and I will more than likely end up buying PS4 as well. Point being, Halo is one of gaming's most famous franchises and in order to continue to support and enjoy the franchise many love, Xbox One it is. ***On a side note, I'm sure everyone will enjoy the Xbox One even if they talk **** about it. Look at the 360, it was trash talked for ages, then suddenly, everyone started liking it.***
-
Perhaps they plan on just having the next game in the series called "Halo". To be fair, none of the games in the series have been just called "Halo" , there has always been something else in the name (ODST, Reach, Combat Evolved, 2, 3, etc) Personally it doesn't matter what they call it, so long as the story is solid and game play and graphics are awesome, I could care less. So, it will be the 5th installation in the series (involving MC) but it may or may not be called Halo 5.
-
Cortana will return, no matter what anybody thinks about it. She was too involved with the inter-workings of both the story of Halo and the main protagonist (Master Chief). She will come back, somehow, over the next two games. Her involvement may not be as much as it used to be, but she will still be in the story in one form or another.
-
Ur-Didact was confirmed to not be dead, but 343 was kinda tight lipped about his involvement in the next game in the series, though it was mentioned he was returning in an interview somewhere, I'll try to find it. I definately concure that it has something to do with Bornstellar or another high ranking forerunner. It is most definately a war sphinx (they would not introduce something that is not in the books just to confuse people, it is a war sphinx, leave it at that, the whole levitating stones thing tells you it is , read Halo: Cryptum, you will understand what I'm talking about) And as mentioned before somewhere, MC probably went rogue looking for Cortana, and someone mentioned that the planet in the background and the jagged 'rocks' on the planet he is on is more than likely what remains of the Ark (my guess would be that MC is going to every place Cortana was plugged into a system in order to see if he can retrieve some trace of her to rebuild her?) It would also make sense that there is a War Sphinx on or near the Ark (Forerunners kinda guarded that thing religiously, and my bet is that Bornstellar sealed himself in a Cryptum there, which would be mighty interesting.
-
I love your theories very well thought of. Now some things to help you along as I'm sure others may mention it later: --when the rocks levitate before the War Sphinx comes out from underneath the sand, it was because MC did not approach it correctly (Halo:Cryptum is were this was referenced) --the planet in the background does look a lot like the Ark (good point) also the jagged 'rocks' in the background could be pieces of the Ark that have crashed into the planet (maybe?) --Now the big one: the fact there is a War Sphinx tells me two things; (1) war sphinxes only guard members of the Ecumene (Librarian/Lifeshaper, Didact, or the Master Builder), and (2) the Librarian died on earth in Silentium, the Master Builder died on the Greater Ark in Silentium, and there are only two possibilities; the Ur-Didact (Halo 4) or the Iso-Didact (Bornstellar from the forerunner saga of books). I am super excited as I really want them to bring in Bornstellar because he was my favorite character in the forerunner saga. However, 343 has a mighty big responsibility to get the character right because he was written a certain way and reads a certain way, if they screw him up, there will be an uproar. But, given what they did with Halo 4, I'm not too worried. They did a fantastic job and I think they will continue to do so. ----Also, I think the MC goes rogue in this game, bc the UNSC refuses to waste resources looking for Cortana (which may explain why he is wearing broken helmet and missing some of his armour). Nice theories, keep up the good 'thinking' ! Haha

Halo 5 and 6 - Story Plot - Another brainstorm
AsquithMike replied to AsquithMike's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
I like your theory Spartan_Ralphie. It was similar to one of my own hypothesis about the two races and the Precursors. It is heavily alluded to in the Forerunner saga. Not sure about how the actual story will go though. You seem to have a good baseline, but I'm not too sure about the Iso-didact. I think 343 will have some crazy ass story to tell in the next game.- 17 replies

Halo 5 and 6 - Story Plot - Another brainstorm
AsquithMike replied to AsquithMike's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
There was a post somewhere about Johnson. Basically he is dead, and is not coming back. I'll try and find the link later tonight. Arbiter is (99.99% sure) going to be returning, I read that somewhere on the net, will find later. Also apparently, Halo 5 is going to be Xbox One and 360, and Halo 6 is going to be just Xbox One. Which may or may not upset me. And yes, I just have many different ideas I like to throw out there because it would be nice if some of my ideas came true. And surprisingly, my thinking and Bungie's thinking were very much the same for storyline for Halo 3, and Halo 4 came out almost the way I had figured - I didn't think it would end at earth, I thought they would stretch it out a little. My thinking is, whatever I come up with story wise, 343 will make it better and longer - I stress the length part - is the hope. And yes, there are supposed to be more forerunner related vehicles and enemies - supposedly living forerunner's though I'm skeptical - and the flood is making a return as well supposedly though 343 has yet to release definitive answers on the matter. Release the game already 343!! Halo 4 was too short and I need more story information!! I am however excited for the Halo TV series for the Xbox One. That sounds cool.- 17 replies

Halo 5 and 6 - Story Plot - Another brainstorm
AsquithMike replied to AsquithMike's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
What is known: FORERUNNER --the Didact is for certain the Ur-Didact (Halo 4 didact) --the Librarian is dead (supposedly) - Chant-to-Green took her place as Lifeshaper --the Iso-Didact was still alive after the firing of the Halos (Bornstellar) --343 Guilty Spark was Chakas --there was a forerunner colony in another galaxy far from the reaches of the Halos (the most probable place the forerunners fled too after reseeding the galaxy/ Path Kethona/ supposedly destroyed) --that 6 of the original 7 Halos remain (from the Lesser Ark) --that a city of nearly 2 million people had been composed (end of Halo 4) --the Ur-Didact's interest in Cortana (...."this evolved ancilla") HUMAN --Master Chief was/is the only Spartan 2 left alive --humanity has begun cataloging all the halos and forerunner artifacts in their galaxy --humanity has also begun to integrate their technology with forerunner technology --Dr. Halsey was kidnapped by the Storm Covenant, obtained the Janus Key. The key was split in two: half was kept by Dr. Halsey, the other was given to Spartan Gabriel Thorne --Cortana supposedly died/ended service after the destruction of the Ur-Didact's ship --Cortana was created/found by Dr. Halsey on Reach, in an ancient forerunner complex, housing a crystal --may I also point out that from what I've read, and from the games that have been released thus far, that MC is the only spartan I have seen with an AI companion? FLOOD --even a single flood spore can house the memories and intellect of every flood being before it --originated from powdered Precursors --used as an act of vengeance upon the forerunner race --no cure - even though it is eluded that humanity had a cure, this was later discredited when it was revealed that the flood had simply receded from human space, not infecting them --supposedly destroyed at the end of Halo 3 COVENANT --Arbiter has returned to rebuild his home world --Storm Covenant was/is a covenant fleet sent to Requiem after being founded in 2553 after Halo 3 --now in the possession of Dr. Halsey and part of the Janus Key/ Storm Covenant NEW ASSUMPTIONS: Presuming 343 would not have a major villain die off so quickly, also presuming they would not have him take such an interest in Cortana as to then kill them both off, my other assumptions about the next halos are as follows: HALO 5 Introduction is Master Chief putting on his new suit, all sad and gloomy about not having Cortana. Refuses another companion AI/ not offered one. ***Arbiter introduction could be here, as he is preforming a diplomatic mission to earth or has requested aid from the UNSC against the Covenant Remnant***(1) -Master Chief is sent on an mission to retrieve Dr. Halsey --sent with Infinity to retrieve Halsey and the Janus key, with minor disruption ----this mission's intel came from an enemy ship (Covenant) presumably Halsey wishing to escape ----the transmission sent from the ship also requests the other half of the Janus key be brought ----Goes to rescue Halsey and discovers she is not a captive, but a leader of the Covenant resistance, only after bringing the other half of the Janus key ----MC is captured (for a moment) and Dr. Halsey uses the Janus key to discover the All Record's location ----shortly after, the UNSC Infinity bombards the Covenant fleet holding Halsey and MC ----Halsey, though injured and dying, says something to MC, confirming she was in fact still working for the UNSC and was 'playing the part' as it was the only way they were going to get the information stored in the Janus key ----Halsey dies, the Janus key is destroyed, but MC has the coordinates, and he escapes the destruction Infinity uses the coordinates MC has and finds the All Record, along with the Covenant, and the Flood. ----mission is to use the information Halsey provided on the All Record and find the information the Librarian said would propel humanity forward ----MC navigates through the Covenant and forerunner enemies, going through various missions and leads, trying to determine what information he is looking for ----MC then begins to understand forerunner glyphs (something that the librarian did perhaps?) ----the Flood begins its quest anew, and begins converting the Covenant Remnant ----MC fights through the forerunners, covenant, the flood, eventually finding something interesting ----an active forerunner facility marker, located in deep space (another galaxy perhaps), where there appears to be a data center for the Composers (as there is more than one) ****sometime during this part of the game, MC has a breakdown, feels he is unable to continue and begins to freely express his sadness over the loss of Cortana (I want him to cry, but that may not happen) MC travels to the forerunner facility/ planet/ shield world/ etc. ----discovers there are more composers, the Didact is in fact alive, and so are many other forerunners ----in a final cut scene, the MC is captured by the Didact and held in stasis. he is then stripped of his armor, piece by piece ----in the epilogue, Cortana will be speaking, and the cut scene will show MC with Cortana saying "I found you." HALO 6 --Cortana is alive and well, and is actually human (to a degree) --The Didact used the composer to bring prometheans forth and Cortana came out almost human, a perfect replica of a young Dr. Halsey --basically Cortana survived the Composer, something not even forerunners have been able to do, and came out human (almost human) ****mentioned before by some people, I have mentioned as well, it was noted that this would be a possible outcome, and so I found it interesting enough to post ///////// will post more when I think about it, there are a few things to discuss, so discuss whilst I think up a plot for Halo 6 that fits with the above story line.- 17 replies
