How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

You go into a house and stab average joe. That's murder.
Now you go into a house and stab World leader Joe. That's an assassination.

an assassination is a murder that was committed stealthily or from an extreme distance. the general idea is that no one knows who the hitter is.. a murder is just a phsycho going complete loon and bludgioning a random bystander to death

You don't need to be important to be assassinated, although usually you are.
