If you didn't know , The Didact looks like this because of mutations caused by the testing he did on himself with the composer. Anyway Bungie left Halo 3 off by a ripped apart ship floating towards a Forerunner planet. I would say that they did a good job for their first halo game. Although there were some minor setbacks which all games have.
