    I agree, if Cortana died, it would kinda ruin Halo since she is a main character.

    In a sense, the UNSC is evil. They went on to Reach just to destroy it with pollution just like humans did on Earth. But on the other hand, they are just protecting humanity from and evil race of aliens.
