Hey every one, spartan_j03 here. Im still just warming up to the forums here, so i know i still dont have much of a rep, but im warming up quick. Anyways i just want to mention that i had thanked our own Bnus for his cancer awerness banner on my own behalf, as I myself have been diagnosed with, treated for, and free of cancer when i was younger. However, he was very modest in bringing up the fact that he is not the only member here that has shown their support. Cancer was a terrible encounter that i dont wish upon anyone, so with copious amounts of gratitude I thank you all! members, mods, site owners, and all the rest, thanks . hopefully soon we can all GAIN THE LEAD on cancer, and FINISH THE FIGHT to end its KILLING SPREE. XD

i 2nd that completly. the rocket hog is next to useless unless the banshee pilot really sucks, or your driver can keep you really stable (and keep up with the banshee). it wouldnt be so bad except that for ten seconds, the enemy banshee hears this dumb warning alarm that gives people WAY too much heads up.

Well, I know its not exactly a "new" idea, but I have always been a fan of needle based weapons (blamite, as bungie used to call the volitile crystalline material). I think the idea of exploding crystal launcher that tracks enemies was sooo cool! It felt new, and alien, and dangerous...and it was PINK! So anyways, my idea was to make a covenant power weapon that was really effective against vehicles and aircraft, but a little weaker against infantry (I know there's nothing wrong with this system, but it just irks me that some one with a SPNKR/Fuel rod/Spartan laz could easily kill ANYTHING). This thing would LOOK kinda like a fusion of the fuel rod gun and the needle rifle (long, sleak, curved...pink) with 3-4 HUGE blamite spikes jutting upward in a row from the middle of the gun to the rear. When locked on to an enemy aircraft, the weapon fires a single huge needle that tracks the craft until it gets within 8 meters. Once in close proximity, the large needle bursts into a cloud of smaller needles. Direct hits from the needles do the most damage, but any that burst in the area around it will have the advantage of shaking the aircraft around dramatically, making it more difficult to fly, but not outright killing it unless you get a really good hit. The reason it wouldn't be effective against infanty is because the needle needs room to travel before it splits, meaning you have to hit them dead on with it to kill them that way. If you DID happen to have enough room for it to burst, enemy infanty is too small for EVERY needle to hit plus they don't track infanty. So again, not impossible, but very hard to kill infantry.

i cant take full credit for the idea behind this topic, saw some other folks on here talking briefly about certain level modifiers from other games. well that got me thinking, i didnt realize that there are no built in hazards in h4 multiplayer maps. granted, some of the newer maps ive seen have started to add fusion coils back, but does any one remember the boundry turrets on snowbound, the bouncing bettys on sandtrap. what about the train on terminal (h2) <think thats the level im thinking. my point is, ive always thought that naturally occuring hazards in levels adds an element of chaos that makes the game fun IMO. neither team can fully compensate for such things, and i like haveing that neautral threat. even just effects for different levels would be cool. big sand storms that cut visibility in levels, fog, or other things to make subtle challenges. what do you guys think? what kind of level hazards/effects would be cool? would level hazards/effects even be good to add to halo multiplayer? let me know what you think

it totally hear you on all of those points (well done by the way), but i just have 3 words for you: Gauss Hog + gunner. that or survivor. on a regular basis, me and my budy would grab the gauss hog first thing every match we play that has one. he drives with wheelman and survivor, and i gun with either or (since you cant have both). my point being; he and i have gone entire games without losing more than 2 hogs, and we wipped most of the enemy team too! lol. ive gone 35-4 gunning on a guass or rocket hog. my point is, if your reflexes are good enough, you can slaughter with one of those hogs despite being assaulted by anti vehicle weapons. a couple of times, we would get stalled out and surrounded by guys with p-nades, but we survived because i was able to blast them all before they could complete their throw...lol i think most of the enemy team that game quite early...

What Kind of Vehicals Would You Like to See in Halo 5
spartan_j03 replied to Sam Jones's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
agreed. i just want a game where 343 says "f*** it, let 'em play with EVERYTHING that has EVER existed in the Halo universe" i want it ALL. that, or at least make it easier for people to make weapon/veh/ level mods (keep that out of Match making of course) -
I am currently working on concept art for a couple of ideas i came up with relating to this topic. The first is just a basic style of mglekgolo minus the shield on the left arm. Instead, I have him outfitted with heavy needlers on either arm that can switch between anti-air and anti-infantry needles. This model has crimson armor rather than blue, and is covered in small round openings with smaller needles poking out. The area of focus for the armor is the upper body, head, and shoulders to protect from incoming aircraft fire. The midsection/legs are even more exposed than usual to allow easy turning/evasion (but this does not mean that they are unarmored there!). This configuration would allow the hunter to cloister into its armor by crouching down and "turtling up" to fend off heavy damage. In this cloistered state, the hunter can lock on to multiple targets and eject the crystals that line their armor in a 360 degree radius all at once. Once fired, the needles spread out in a semisphere centered on the hunter, then proceed to track their targets. Even the hunter's back spines are just huge needles designed for destroying aircraft in one shot. As a less effective form of attack, the hunter can charge foes in an attempt to impale/flatten, or smash them with their gun, causing the rounds to detonate. The second form would be a little more subtle. With the supply of lekgolo worms running short, the Storm Faction had to get a little crafty with what they had left. This resulted in the creation of lekgolo infiltrator. Spec ops teams are sent out to divide and capture squads of spartan 4s. The unlucky spartan is then removed (carefully) from his armor and executed. With an empty suit of MJOLNIR armor, the elites marry the suit to a small swarm of lekgolo worms. The worms fillout the armor, and are able to link with its neural hubs. From there the mjol-golo can now walk around posing as an enemy spartan. (This last one needs a bit of work, but I think that it would be spooky.)

i want elites too bro, no need to unleash the fury. i just want them to stop trying to make them so they are even with spartans (halo 2 and 3), they are not. both races need clear cut disadvantages and advantages, and there should be a disclaimer that says "playing as one or the other of these races STILL does not gaurantee you will win all the time" Reach did well with invasion, but id like to see it were we can have teams of mixed races. a little off topic but still relavent me thinks; Halo is a sandbox game, but people complain when things are changed/added that they didnt want messed with. i think that kinda kills the mood of "your a B-A space robot made to kill everything. choose your engine of destruction.". i would like ALL the choices for how i want to represent my spartan.

lol, I totally forgot they did that! that mission was awesome. "shh! im hunting hewwaticks!". but even just putting that back in would be cool, and would make sense too. My buddy claims he once saw a grunt armor lock and kill a hog in reach like 2 weeks after release, but im skeptical...would kinda be funny though, little grunty pylons of death.

campaign: -arbiter returns -finally introduce blue team -slow the pace of story progression -more exposition on side characters/ new tech -more/longer themed missions in game (i.e. aeriel battles, land based vehicle battles, stealth, etc.) -a little more attention to enemies of all kinds (small peeks into grunt/jackle/hunter perspective on situation at hand maybe?) -longer campaign -slightly more open world environments (even if its a few extra nooks and crannys with guns stashed in them to search) -command NPCs (i hate marines who wont get in vehicles to drive me around >_<) -bring boss battles back -expand on the limited quicktime events h4 had thats all i got for now. more later

okay, better now. Anyways, ^ that would actually be cause to be concerned about grunts. Im trying to keep ideas for tweaks for grunts small enough to not be a complete overhaul of their look and feel, but to make them more fun. it'd be funny to see this little 3 some of grunts trying to shimmy together to get this huge gun in range of you. perhaps even small additional roles/classes they can fill to help other races. like a little grunt that holds a larger, tower varient of jackle shield that he carries with 2 hands, hed follow important elites around and hold the sheild up to block fire/grenades from hitting his leader. Maybe make some grunts bold enough to leap onto live grenades like soldiers in WW2 used to do to save their buddies. Another thing though, in the books it was said that they were capable of walking on all fours and that they were pretty nimble on all 4...that would be interesting...ninja grunts. j/k. but making them a little faster on all 4s would change the pace of fighting them. thats it until i come up with more grunt stuff. i love grunts, so if anyone has ideas on how to make grunts a little more epic, feel free.

Everyone who has ever played a Halo game is intimatly familiar with the covenants first choice in cannon fodder, the grunts. Now, being designated as cannon fodder usually implys lack of good training/equipment/job satisfaction and generally everything else that makes an effective soldier, but if they WEREN'T some what effective in combat, why would the covenant wouldnt use them right? My point in all this is that through out every halo game, grunts seem to only ever receive the barest amount of adjustments. they really never get any smarter, faster, or tougher in any gamee. thats fine because they a kind of a pathetic race to begin with anyways, but then some would ask "why keep putting them in?"...well, because they're adorable and fill up space/time, and give the player more to shoot at (and they're good for witty banter), but how to make them a little more interesting without changing them to much? Well, lets look at how grunts do their thing and why. so the grunts are basiclly slaves to the covenant/elites who are forced to either fight on front lines and die, or carry out the most dangerous/heavy/dirty work, and above all else protect their leader. they're primary strengths in combat are their large numbers, the limited pieces of heavy weaponry they can opperate, and they're strength for their size. So this is what i was thinking: what if grunts came in squads with specific configuration to achieve certain tasks in game. for example; squad of 3 grunts, two of them have special harnesses with little mechanical control arms on the shoulders and the 3rd has a large plasma cannon folded up on his back. the first 2 drop to all fours then the 3rd mounts the cannon on their shoulders. there, now you've turned 3 normally pretty harmless enemies into a moving heavy weapon support team. more to come later, but im at work now, and its time to go home.

thats what i was thinking. the teaser came out in what....july? and there hasnt been much yet. im guessing either sometime in november or soon after X-mas. i do actually follow halo5follower currently, but i agree with you for the same reasons. plus i think he goes over too many really out there theories/ ideas, when there are others that are much more sound he passes over. but yeah, over all not a bad place to gather info. im glad i got on the forums finally though. ive been a dang wallflower stalking halo forums since 3, but never joining. nice to have people to talk about this stuff with
-
ya know, that really is a novel idea, and i support it fully, but i that seems like one of those things that 343 would look at as extra expense that would only be used by some people
-
So does anyone have any idea when 343i will give us any more data on Halo 5/ Halo xbox one? thoughts, theaories? i was checking the web for any major game conventions i might not have been aware of. im just getting antsy to know ANYTHING more about the next in halo in the series.
-
i was actually just thinking of this myself not long ago. i think its about time since this creature has basically been a sort of a mythillogical rumor amongst fans since halo ce. i think i vaguelly remember a little description for them that came with one of the bonus content for i think halo 1 or 2 that said the drinol was the covenants weapon of last resort, for an enemy who is matching/outlasting the covenant with their backs to the wall. i think current continuety definatly qualifies as "desperate" for whats left of the covenant so this would be a perfect time to introduce the drinol.
-
yeah, i probably not. but hey, a halo fanboy can dream cant he. i just have really high excpectations because i love this series soo much
-
i definatly like where your going with this. help promote teamwork, even without a mic. the coordination is still gonna be tough with out a mic, but at least giving people some subtle insentive to work towards being a cohesive unit would drasticlly help. this idea gets 2 thumbs up from me

those are great ideas! i really like the one about the mammoths on a sandtrap successor, that would be AMAZING! like sandtraps big brother. can you imagine the chaos of like 32 on 32 (or even 16 on 16 if 32 is too much) flag cap matches on a level like that? *inhales deeply* beautiful....can you smell that boys and girls? thats how halo is supposed to smell.

i agree, the spectre has needed an upgrade for a while. the covenant need a standard infintry support veh that isnt an exact copy of the warthog (which sucked imo) or a mini-wraith (better, but still not great). has anyone ever played starwars battle front? i think the spectre should have a turret that functions similar to the laser turrets on the clone tanks or the spider walker tank.

i personally think ordinance is not that big of a deal. maybe they should tweek it a bit, but not remove it. it offers said "noobs" a way to strike back against antagonists if they have earned enough points. i say this because a lot of "good" players (note that i said a lot, not all) ive seen are only "good" because they can camp the ever loving crap out of power weapons and vehicles, and that is not really fair to other players if they cant even get close enough to one of those things. i consider myself a good player with an average k/d per match at about +13 most matches, but i get into some games where i die left and right because the enemy team has the entire layout of all power weapons and vehs covered and they dont move an inch. there is no skill in that, so killing them with ordinance drops is no better or worse. i see it like noob v noob

I think it would be pretty awesome if they added a game type that is a large scale combination of invasion and dominion. take the elites vs spartans concept from invasion and the aspect of needing to control bases to gain advantage like dominion. maybe have a level where elites have a lich as a floating base that can slowly move around the level and fire/drop of elites. spartens would get air support and anti air turrets. idk, needs work but could be cool.
