You realise sometimes people are late to join? When I was joining a Halo Wars Event once, I was late to join and the host was on another game. As soon as I got onto Halo Wars, the host also came on and invited me to a lobby. Some people just join late. If there's no one at the beginning of the Event, it doesn't mean no one will show up. Me, Yang and Shadowfiend went on Reach right after we were done with Deja Vu which was about 10 minutes after the invite. I should still be able to make this though.

I'll invite the first five people to sign up and balance out the teams then. I'll be on whatever team needs me.

Well, if MC has gone rogue (which I highly doubt), then this Spartan could be ONI's way of sorting things out. He could be like a hunter/assassin. I highly doubt Master Chief going rogue though. It's possible that this Spartan could actually be a replacement. Captain Del Rio called John and "aging Spartan", ONI may see this the same way and want a replacement for him. At the same time though, John-117 has not yet been proven unworthy. He did kind of save Earth in Halo 4 and manage to "defeat" the Didact...with the help of Cortana, who he has now lost. This Spartan seems like he is to assist Chief, I don't see many other good reasons as to why he would do otherwise.
