  1. No, armor should be allowed to make you sprint, armor lock, jet pack, invis, whatever. No, no, no, no, NO
  2. Here's a link to the video in case you have not seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-u9ZDFs180&feature=share I just want to say that I am a beloved halo fan, therefore I have high standards for halo 4. Unfortunately I believe I may have to lower my expectations for halo 4 after seeing this trailer. I will explain why, But first I want to say to everyone, this is a discussion not an argument everything I say is subjective and it my opinion, please if you defer on any of my views please talk about it in a fitting manner. I will respect your views if you respect mine. Now back to it, I want to point out things I've noticed about this video in a short shopping list manner. -Sprint -Jump Height -BR -Maps -Armor -sound effects So here is how I analyze it. Sprint- I personally don't like sprint I think it adds a feat to the game that doesn't really fit with a halo style, But if it is JUST Sprint and NO other armor abilities then I can deal with it, however this does make me scared that 343 may possibly add other armor abilities into the game. Jump Height- I noticed in the game that spartans were jumping fairly high, which means they returned the jump height to how it was in halo 3. I couldn't tell if the spartan took fall damage when he hit the ground, but let's hope to god he didn't cause I did not like fall damage. BR- BR IS BACK, At first look I didn't like it too much, (the new look of the BR) but now I think about it, I am quite content with the BR it looks like it will be a good reliable gun. Maps- Custom made maps by 343, no cutting corners like bungie did. Let's hope the release some good forge abilities with the game! Armor- The new master chief armor I am not a big fan of, but I am glad to say It is a huge improvement from the Reach armor, the spartan stands up tall and looks strong, also the armor looks pretty nice on the spartan I would love to make some machinima's about it. I am just sad that the Mark VI armor is no longer Chief's main armor Sound effects- 343 really did an amazing job creating the sound effects for the game, sound effects seem realistic enough and will be a nice addition to the game. Overall, I am glad to say this trailer does give me hope, such improvements from reach makes me happy, 343 also seems very devoted to halo 4, and I hope that they will be able to continue such a great job with the game. It's nice to have a developer who actually cares about the game they are creating unlike bungie with halo reach. I am sad that 343 has fallen victim to some of halo reach's stupid gimmicks, I am praying that they don't keep to much of reach in halo 4 because that would really suck
  3. I support you brother. Halo 2 & 3 were well constructed games (halo 3 had it's problems but it was still halo)
  4. I think that it is good to keep it 3rd person by default, but i'd like to see some first person options. I like options, that way you have the choice and no one gets mad. That is the way to go.....
  5. dedicated servers + 60 fps = amazing game play flow
  6. In halo 2 if you dual wielded an SMG and a plasma rifle then you would be able to destroy people fairly easily. HOWEVER, The BR was so amazing in halo 2 that is balanced it out. Having everything slightly overpowered (rockets, snipers, BR, dual wielded weapons, sword, shotgun, etc) makes the game balanced and exciting! Unlike reach where everything sucks (like the DMR) And takes FOREVER to kill someone.
  7. Again, like halo 2 had. Clans were AMAZING in halo 2. Unfortunately microsoft got really butt-hurt over people having (essentially) a second friend's list. *sigh*....
  8. Go back to halo 2. It was the most fair, and no one complained about it...

    Halo 4 Maps

AS LONG as they keep a nice variety of different schemes for maps. Like 2 snow maps, 2 desert maps, 2 covenant maps, etc. etc. Let's do a recap here. 2 Snow Levels - ~Side Winder (from H1) ~Lock Out (from H2) 2 Sand Levels- ~Sand Trap (from H3) ~Coagulation (from H2) 2 Flood Levels- ~Isolation (H3) ~Back Wash (H2) 2 Covenant Levels- ~Gemini (H2) ~Mid Ship (H2) + they can add city maps, forest maps, Rain maps perhaps? Finally, they can add in a full scale map editor. This will feature a Blue room with a grid, you edit the hills yourself you add the rocks (no more money bull****). You can also add the terrain, put snow patches in some spots, grass in others. Put down some sand, make some water. Then once you make the terrain you can save it and then go into a forge-like mode where you put in structures, weapons, spawns. Also I protest that 343 allows a skin selection for everything. For example. You can have a glossy wood floor like in reflection in halo reach, or you can make the steel looking walls like the default in forge world on reach. OR you could make covenant walls, etc. What do you guys think?
  10. Only problem I have with a hit/miss ratio is that it is waay to inconsistent to affect true rank, I think it would be a cool feature to add into a player profile. Kind of like how reach has a service record and you can check K/D W/L maybe have that with a Hit/miss. However, I think that it would be best to stick to a simple. Win rank up. Lose rank down. Simple simple simple. No more complicated unpredictable formula's (like halo 3s) and no more stupid COD reward system (cr in halo reach). Do NOT under estimate the beauty of simplicity. Simple = better.
  11. I think that playing the game casually should be a reward in itself. Credits are pointless in my opinion. I like the idea of just a ranking system w/ numbers. Maybe have credits for armor? Honestly I don't really care. I never really cared for armor customization I only cared about gameplay.
  12. Bring back BR but add hit scanning and also I like the halo reach vehicles, they did a good job with that IMO (and this is coming from a guy who absolutely hates reach). Halo 3's ranking system was garbage, but at least it was a ranking system (this is why I wanted them to approve on it, make it a little less.... random....) Also I would like to see them bring back the BXR, (although I know they never would so I don't want to really push for it too much) I think reach did a good job with the sniper, also halo 3's netcode was complete crap. So I would expect them to approve on that. Graphics are not really important to me, I am looking more for good gameplay and a good story line. That is what I want. (graphics would be nice, I can appreciate good graphics but as long as they are acceptable then I wont complain)
  13. Try not to get worked up over it, that's exactly what they want you to do.
  14. YEAH! ADD ARMOR ABILITIES! They need to give us tactile nuke perks that will allow us to instantly win the game without even playing. (obviously sarcastic) But for real, I honestly think there shouldn't be any armor abilities, Armor abilities ruined halo. (IMO)
  15. That's the happy median I was looking for. I agree. You are not wrong, and I wasn't wrong, that's why this got heated in a way. Halo reach's system where you can see the player's commendations, etc. Is very effective at telling whether or not a player is good. However, it is lacking a ranking system all together. I guess in halo 2 if you were really good you could rank up to level 50 in about a week. Although, I never saw that too often, because after level 40 it was really really hard to rank up, but I am sure some people were able to accomplish it. All in all, I think we can leave here as friends rather than enemies, we both want the same thing. Only difference is we see it from a different view. I'm glad to see we were both able to understand each other's position and accept that it wasn't wrong, a blend of both systems is actually a good thing.
  16. "Noted" ? Are you an admin? If not, then that means nothing. btw, I am not trying to start a flame war, it's just all this talking down to is a little annoying. I will admit you know more than me about how halo was made. I understand completely what you are talking about when you are talking about the ranking system (or service record if you will....) and it makes sense. However, in practice it doesn't work. I want to make one thing clear to you, "halo reach" does NOT have a ranking system. It doesn't because you cannot rank down, only up therefore there is no ranking system. Simple enough, yes? How is halo 2 the worst by the way? Minus the BXR glitches and getting out of the map, let's just say that the halo 2 ranking system was implemented in halo reach. Then is it a good ranking system? P.S- I understand the service record stuff (with K/D and W/L) They can have that, obviously it is a good idea because it shows you were not carried to your rank. However we are simply talking about ranking systems not service records, that's a whole different discussion.
  17. Ahh, I expected a response like that. Sorry for misjudging you on your skill. However when I looked at your bungie.net I didn't see any rank, I am assuming you did that on another account. However, I think you are lying, because you are contradicting yourself. You say you hate the BXR and getting out of the map because it got people to high ranks, however at the level 34 you should be able to handle yourself enough to stop people from doing these things (super bouncing) and if you can't then you don't deserve that level because level 34 was basically 50 in halo 2. Now one last thing, WHAT DOES KNOWING HOW A GAME WAS BUILT DICTATE HOW WELL IT IS PLAYED? If you know how pac man was created does that mean you can give an accurate understanding of how fun it is? No. You constantly hitting people down with your "tech guru" superiority complex is starting to get on my nerves. If you want to debate, then debate don't sit there and talk about how great you are. Cause your not.
  18. Hey, I have one question for you, have you ever played halo 2? I played over 2,000 hours of it (i know, no life) The BXR was not easy to do. It was easy for PRO's but I never got owned by it a lot. I simply used to use it on noobs every now and then, it hardly ever was a game changer, most the time if I was facing off against someone who was terrible and I could BXR easily then I would win with or without BXR. Also, getting out of the maps was annoying, however it wasn't often an issue. When you played MLG and you had a team of 4 you often would never allow an enemy to get out of the map. Tech Guru, assuming you played halo 2, I am also going to assume you were a low level (sorry if I am wrong, i'm just going by what you are saying). You were probably below level 20 where people got away with that all the time. It works on the low levels when people don't know what they are doing. But against higher levels (like myself) it would never stand. I would always patrol the map taking control locking down weapon spawns, etc. If I even saw someone super bouncing then they were dead. When you are playing competitively (word is rare in halo reach) then you are using teamwork. (It is very very hard to win 3 vs 4 when all players are equal in skill). So if one player decides to glitch out of the map then it means he is leaving his team, a 3 on 4. And whenever that happens the 3 loose and the 4 win, and they will get the sniper and kill the glitcher. I am speaking from experience, I played at all levels of the game (noob, average player, semi pro) I know the game a lot more than you do. I don't blame you for no understanding, but you have to know, halo 2's ranking system was the best. Btw, I played halo 2, halo 3, AND (believe it or not) halo reach Competitively, I know what I am talking about. Don't sell me so short.
  19. I couldn't agree more. You are right in every way, I am motivated (even in halo 3) to get that next rank. I remember the amazing feeling it was when I saw that level 49 grow to 50. It was a self achievement that really made me proud, cause I really had to earn it. Halo reach, there is no pride. You are an inheritor? So what? You played 5,000 Fire Fight games to get it. Even though someone with a 100,000 kills and 10,000 deaths may feel proud of himself (for having an insane 10.00K/D) but it isn't accurate. That person could have played big team battle or some other social playlist that is just for fun and most people are relaxed. SO, Here's the question, how do you know somebody is good in halo reach? Well..... you really....don't... Halo 2 (and a little bit of 3) represented skill. If you went into team doubles (in halo 3) and you were a level 47 trying to get 50, and on the other team were 2 players PLAYING on their 50 with over 5,000 EXP (etc.) You knew you were going to most likely lose. Only problem with halo 3 was (as you mentioned) the constant randomness with ranking up, it made no sense and it was often frustrating. I have horror stories of trying to rank up (including winning over 30 games in a row and NOT ranking up). Halo 2 had it right, giving the players the ability to go online and seeing how far they are to the next rank. Glad some people are on the same page with me
  20. Think about a system that made sense, if you were level 30 most people (around 95%) played at your level. (assuming you had a difficult time leveling up and were a legit level 30). Not only that, but the community was amazing. I had some of the best times playing halo 2. Amazing game, halo 3 had a very hard to understand ranking system that constantly screwed players over. Halo reach didn't have a ranking system at all. Halo 2, all the way. Ranking system, custom games, campaign, BXR, could go on forever.... <3
  21. Yeah I agree completely, I think I sent you one, but you declined it. My name is same on here as it is on xbox.
