  1. The first thing you should try is changing your graphics back to the original mode, as this makes enemies using active camouflage significantly easier to spot. They spawn at the start of each wave of troops, so be ready for them every time you kill the last of your current group of opponents. It's also worth pointing out that although they're difficult to see, they're actually a little weaker than regular Elites. If you can work out roughly where their heads are, a single shot from your Sniper Rifle is enough to put them down. The important thing here is not to panic - they're going to run straight at you, and while that's very intimidating, it means that you're going to have a nice clear shot at them without needing to worry about them moving side to side and throwing off your aim. Pick a wall, get your back to it, and stay calm when you take your shot. If you're still having trouble with your aim or you've swapped out your Sniper Rifle for something else, then you could try either a grenade or your Assault Rifle. When you see them step out of a door, toss a Frag toward their feet, and it's almost certain to kill them outright. They're no tougher than a normal blue Elite, so the only problem is the lack of aim assist - when you spot one, start backing up and bursting fire with your Assault Rifle, then break out into full-auto as they get closer. Remember, these guys rely on being difficult to see and intimidating in order to win fights. Spot them early, keep your cool, and you take away their only two advantages.

  5. Yes, it is. You're playing the Anniversary playlist, which is built on a completely new engine. Go onto one of the original Halo 2 maps like Waterworks (NOT one of the six remastered maps), and you'll be able to use all the tricks, glitches, exploits and cheats you were able to use ten years ago.

  8. Hello, and welcome to 343industries.org - a forum run by Halo fans, for Halo fans! My name is RedStarRocket91, and as the lead Moderator I'm in charge of managing things day to day here on the site. Like the rest of the staff, I'm a fan volunteer who started out as a member, and I'm now here to help you out in any way I can! I keep a thread in our Offbeat section where I answer member questions, so if you have any queries or concerns, don't hesitate to post: alternatively, why not send me a private message, or contact any of our Community Moderators? If you're looking for one department in particular, we also have a list of all our currently active staff members and their roles here! We hope you'll enjoy your time here on the forums, and to help us keep them as pleasant as possible: if you haven't already seen it, it's a good idea to read our Privacy Policy and Rules page, and to check out the Announcements forum for the latest rule updates (Rule 1F in particular has received special clarification). Once you're ready to introduce yourself to the community, head over to Introductions and say hello – or just get posting! If you'd like to start decorating your profile, our Forum Productions department also takes requests for signature artwork, to give your posts some unique flair. Another great way of decorating your profile is to pursue one of our various Awards, each of which will grant you a badge to be displayed proudly beneath your profile image on all of your posts, and can be viewed in their own section of your profile page. If you'd like to start earning them straight away, you can subscribe to our Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts, as in addition to keeping you up to date with our latest content and contests, you'll earn a unique badge for every one you follow. And if you ever think you haven't received an Award which you've qualified for, don't fret – our dedicated Missing Award Thread has you covered! If you've signed up via either Facebook or Twitter, then your account is already verified as a full-fledged Member – all of the features of the forum are available to you, so go out an enjoy them! However, if you've signed up normally, then you'll currently be in the 'New Members' usergroup, which has several restrictions, including limited use of the private message system and no access to our live-chat Shoutbox. Don't worry, though – once you've made 5 posts, you'll automatically be promoted to the Members usergroup and the restrictions on your account will be lifted! Please note that currently, any posts made in the Introductions, Clan Recruitment, and Offbeat forums do NOT count toward either this limit or your total posts for purposes of member group promotion. Once you reach 200 active posts, you'll be automatically promoted to our 'Trusted Members' usergroup, which comes with a new purple username colour to help you stand out from the crowd. After you hit 500, you'll be upgraded to our 'Dedicated Members' usergroup, which comes with an impressive grey username and the ability to choose a unique member title for yourself – and unlike name changes, which may only be made twice in any two month period, this title can be altered as often as you wish and contain special characters! We also have two unique member groups which can only be accessed under special circumstances; the first, our pink Member of the Month, which is awarded some time in the first week of every month to a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the community; and the second, our golden Legendary Members, which is granted to staff members upon retirement as thanks for their service. Lastly, remember to visit the News page regularly, where our dedicated writers report on all the latest goings-on of the gaming world, and to check the link bar above the shoutbox, which we keep updated with the latest site events. You can also find our Twitch channel here, where we regularly broadcast our Community Events. Once more, on behalf of everyone on the staff here at 343industries.org, I offer you a warm welcome to our community – which we hope you'll agree to be the friendliest corner of the Halo universe! ~Red
  9. It actually looks more like the outer armour layers have been removed - those areas look a little sunken next to the rest of the armour, and they follow the contour lines of the plated side.
  10. Edward Buck soloed a Scarab. Sorry pilots, but a Titan is nothing compared to that!
  11. Slight correction to be made here - there are six remade maps in Halo 2: Anniversary, all of which can be Forged upon just like any other level. However, in IGN First's reveal video for the new Forge mode, map creation took place on a seventh map, and an eighth and ninth were also mentioned as dedicated Forge canvases. So basically, if you're looking for a Forge Island/Forge World style area to build your maps on, there'll be three areas that you can use to build!
  12. November's Member of the Month has been announced! http://343i.org/2hz

  13. November's MoM is someone who joined the site in the build-up to Halo 4, in the heady pre-release days when Cortana still watched over the Chief, the Didact lay trapped in stasis, and the Boltshot was still considered balanced: over the past two years, he's risen from a fresh-faced Member to the silver of the Dedicated group, becoming one of our site's most active and involved members along the way. And it's not just his everyday posts that have been impressive, excellent though they are. In addition to his affinity for Halo which has seen him conquer the ninjas and take home the trophy in our site paintball tournament, and his fiendishly clever contributions to the ongoing Riddle Challenge, our new MoM has quite the talent for writing: if you haven't yet read his brilliant contribution to our September Short Story Contest, 'Patter', set amidst the last days of New Alexandria during the Fall of Reach, then you're missing out! An all around great guy and one of the most active posters on the site today, from the heights of the Community Polls to the depths of the Offbeat section, please give a round of applause to our newest Member of the Month, rrhuntington! Congratulations, rrhuntington! We hope you enjoy your month in the pink!
  14. Yes, you'll get access to both of those regardless of which version you buy.
  15. November's Caption Contest is now open for submissions! http://343i.org/2ht

  16. I actually think there's some potential in this. Halo 3 had a system for duelling with Energy Swords, so that if both players landed a hit at exactly the same time even though they'd both take damage, neither would die outright - regardless of how low their health actually got. I don't really like the idea of just being able to block an attack outright, but having the ability to reduce incoming damage based on timing sounds like it could be interesting. Perhaps it could be tiered by weapons, so that you need an Energy Sword to successfully block an Energy Sword, an Energy Sword or a bladed weapon to block a bladed weapon, and any weapon will block a regular melee?
