Done! I use Facebook pretty much all the time, so I'll be around to contribute fairly often.

Microsoft won't risk making Halo 4 mediocre purely so they can get it done quickly and cash in on it. They'll have learned from what happened to Bioware after ME3: short-term monetary gain which comletely destroys a studio's reputation and future profit potential.

That's definitely the way I'd like to see it, just described a lot better than I'd say it!

Assuming the DMR really is back, I'd guess that their roles will have been changed slightly. The DMR may have a more powerful scope and a slower firing rate, making it work better at long range than the Battle Rifle, whose spread seems to have increased quite a bit from Halo 3 judging from the screenshots we've seen. I'd put my money on the DMR now actually filling the role of a poor man's Sniper Rifle instead of a general-purpose weapon. Slower firing rate would make it win versus BR at long range but lose at closer ranges, where the fast three-round bursts allow for quicker kills. As far as I remember, in Halo 3 damage to Shields was the same regardless of whether you were shooting the head or not. I'm guessing they'll just stick with that system.

Even if there's a shred of truth in it - which I'm still not convinced of - everything at this stage is working titles, not the final product. They're probably called such odd names just so that the development team knows exactly what it is they're working on and there isn't any confusion as the 'official' names get chopped and changed.

I'm not worried. Frankie's with the Bungie old school doctrine, and he just plain came out and told us that it's been misrepresented and misunderstood. If there were actually any truth in it, he'd have just trotted out the 'I can't comment on speculation at this time' speech.

What's your SPECIALTY?

I'm good at small-scale maps and weapon sandboxes. I also have a fairly good eye for aesthetics. -
I knew I should have just gone with 'Red'... Seriously though, thanks for including me! : )

Erm, it's actually the right side of the brain that deals with creativity. Graphic design and animation are both very cool though, I wish I had any skill at them! I like writing.

It's an evolution of a username I'd been using on the internet for a few years. What's your favourite book/book series? -
Nah. ZB?

I like that the Assault Rifle in Reach gave you more control over its firing. The fact that you could actually hear it when firing was a nice bonus too. In terms of firepower and minimum accuracy, I'd prefer something along the lines of the Halo 3 edition. The spare round cap would be nice, too. The firing sound needs to be improved though, and I'd like if shorter bursts could be as accurate as those in Reach.

Where are the halo maps going to be hosted at now?
RedStarRocket91 replied to Brent's topic in Forge Discussion
Hi Brent, 343i have said they'll eventually make file shares accessible through Waypoint, although apparently at the moment it isn't a priority. In the meantime, if you want to post a map, upload it to your file share as normal and post your gamertag instead of a link to the file. People will be able to use the 'New Custom Search' function of the File Browser in Reach to search for your gamertag and access it in-game. For example, if you want to find your friend's map, you'd just go to 'New Custom Search', then 'File Share Search' and type in their gamertag. That will bring up a list of everything in their File Share, and you'll be able to download it manually from there. I hope this helps!- 1 reply

Halo 3 Health Bar or Halo: Reach Health Bar
RedStarRocket91 replied to TryToBeSneakyIdo's topic in Halo 4
Let's clear this up once and for all. Players DID have health in Halo 3. The only difference is that you couldn't see it. The bar at the top shows how many hit point are left in your Shield, and ONLY how many hit points were left in your Shield. There is no way of checking how much Health you have in Halo 3. It is not displayed anywhere. You have 70 hit points in your Shield. You have 45 hit points in your Health. It might not look like you have any Health under your Shield because so many kills were either performed with melees, which can kill someone even if they have Shields left, or the Battle Rifle, which because of its 3-round burst could get headshot kills even if opponents had a little bit of Shield left when the trigger was first pulled. The BR is a lot better at consistent headshotting than the DMR, so more players were headshotted. Your Shields will begin regenerating after 4.25 seconds of not being shot, and will fully regenerate after 1.75 seconds. That's 6 seconds in total. Your Health will only start regenerating after 10 seconds of not being shot. Afterwards, your Health regenerates at 9 hit points/second. So for up 15 seconds after last being shot, you can still be killed pretty much straight away after your Shields go down, making it look like you don't have any Health, even though you do. Apparently, 343 tweaked the search settings so that you're more likely to be matched against players who have the same DLC as you. Obviously this works a lot better in playlists with bigger populations, so that's why you're more likely to see them in a big one like Team Slayer than your are in a smaller one like Team Objective.

Also, there were multiple fleets that attacked Reach. Some of those fleets were commanded by Brutes, some by Elites: and each individual fleet has either Brutes or Elites in it, not both. In Halo CE, there was only one fleet present, and it was commanded by an Elite (Thel 'Vadam).

I agree with a lot of this - the Assault Rifle really needs some love, it's seriously underpowered at the moment. There have been so many cases where I've been five-shotted by DMR users at close range even though I'm using the Assault Rifle at its supposed ideal range, and a few cases where I've actually run out of ammo without killing someone. Even I'm not that bad of a shot at that kind of range. You may be interested to know that the Plasma Repeater actually does bullet damage rather than plasma damage, and that the Spiker does plasma damage instead of bullet damage. I don't know whether or not this was intentional, but I agree that it might be nice to swap them around, and buff the damage at the very least. On that topic, I've found that boosting damage to 110% in TU gametypes really changes the flow of the game - yes, you can be four-shotted by Pistol and DMR users, but the Assault Rifle really tears them to shreds at close quarters, which is exactly what's supposed to happen. As for melee damage, I prefer bleedthrough to double-meleeing. Even with 75% melee damage, that's 1 DMR round to ensure someone's Shields pop, and leaves the exact same problem as before with double-meleeing. What actually works very well is setting melees to 50% damage in bleedthrough gametypes. This way you can still hurt an opponent through their shields, which is better than essentially wasting ten or so bullets because your melee still only takes down Shields, but will only kill them if their Shields are already down anyway/if they've got a little bit of Shield left but their health is only regenerated to either a third or two thirds. All that said, I'd really love to see TU settings in Firefight/Campaign. Swapping from one to the other leads to a lot of frustrating deaths as the weapons really do feel different.

There were a lot of things Bungie didn't fix. My guess is that it was because Halo 2 was played in the days before routine console patches. That still doesn't make it a legitimate tactic.

BXR is a cheap trick to increase attack speed. 'B' was the melee button back in the day, and that would lower your shields. 'X' was reload. When you pressed it, it would skip the cooldown animation between your melee doing damage and your gun resetting to firing position. Basically, you can't fire straight after a melee, but you can fire while reloading if you have any bullets left in your gun. 'R' is Right Trigger, and shoots. So, you take down their shields, and instead of having to wait a second or so before you can fire again you can just reload and shoot pretty much straight away. This isn't a skill gap thing, it's clearly a glitch. If Bungie had WANTED you to be able to shoot straight away after meleeing, they would have set it so you could do it without a button combination.

Perma-mute is a darn shame. Think about it. You're in a match with two French speakers, who're using their mics effectively to communicate information to each other - who has power weapons, where enemies are hiding, organising an attack: all the sort of stuff that means they play much better. However, if you don't speak French, all it does is distract you, so of course you'd mute them, so that you could concentrate properly. But under perma-bans, that doesn't work. They get punished for using their mics properly. That just doesn't make sense.

As I'm sure most of you will have now noticed, bungie.net no longer supports downloading files from fileshares, meaning that it is no longer possible for players to download your maps via their browser. In a word, this sucks. However, we are still capable of finding maps through the 'Advanced Search' function of Reach's file search menu. You can filter by things like file type and age, but most importantly by author and by tags. Here's my idea. In the interim period until we get a new system of downloading maps from Waypoint or whatever, we need to start using tags to help people find our maps for the 1v1/2v2 tournament. Firstly, put the latest version of your map into your file share. Then tag it with '343i'. Once you've done that, post both the name of your map and your gamertag in this thread. This will allow people to use the search function to find your map by searching for its author (your gamertag) and the '343i' tag. Your map name ensures they have the right one. e.g. Map Name: Memoria Gamertag: RedStarRocket91
