That's exactly how it was in Halo 3 and CEA. It is a very good method, and I kind of wish 343i would do that for the Halo 2 Anniversary, but it probably won't. Admittably, some of the skulls were difficult to find, but it is always an adventure searching for those skulls

Should 343I remake maps for Halo 5 ?
SPARTAN 117 replied to Caboose The Ace's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
Blood Gulch and Valhalla are the only remakes I would deem necessary -
Clearly somebody didn't read the books lol

343 should be able to fit a superior physics engine into the next title than they did in Halo 4, but Halo 4 had to suffer in some minor areas in order to accomodate a pretty good texture palette, and water physics was among them cetainly. I don't think they just blew off water physics so much as they had to ignore it for storage and performance sake.

Halo Xbox One thoughts on gameplay mechanics
SPARTAN 117 replied to Garrus Vakarian's topic in General Discussion
While you offer a legitimate, and popular, argument for multiplayer alterations, many felt that even Halo 4's multiplayer was a step in the wrong direction. While it is still technically fair if all players have their own custom armor qualities and weapons of choice, many people, such as myself, still prefer a perfectly even combat gradient in which all players, no matter experience, are exactly as powerful as everyone else. No special armor effects. No special weapons. Only those with skill and experience and vigor succeed. That is why Halo 2 and 3 were such successful multiplayers, even when Call of Duty and Battlefield (both great franchises) were turning heads. I think multiplayer should play exactly like Halo Reach except players may only sprint and, perhaps, if I could choose my preferred starting rifle (like Halo 4), that would be nice, too. The assassination scenes in Reach were much quicker than in Halo 4 so assassinating enemies was not such a big deal, which was a plus. I like your idea of whipping out a knife when out of ammo, but it may be a little unfair to make certain weapons better for melee attacking. I feel that the possibility of countering an assassination is unnecessary in a Halo style multiplayer considering players never really need to camp (at least usually), but perhaps making the assassination perform at a much slower pace (to increase possibility of getting saved by an ally) would be interesting. I think alot of your ideas would play better if Halo played alot more like Battlefield (which would be cool), but being the grizzled vet that I am, I'll stick to the classics. Hope Halo 2 Anniversary comes around! -
UNSC Spirit of Fire making a return into the Halo Universe?
SPARTAN 117 replied to Ardent Prayer's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
Can an AI be preserved, turned off? Questions will probably answered later on, until then, I want to look into this series. And speaking of Spirit of Fire, you think there is any chance at a Halo Wars 2? I'd be all for it. -
I feel that CryEngine 3 and the Unreal engine are better than 343's Halo-optimized engine, but it was pretty good. Though in all honesty, I preferred the engine Bungie put in Halo Reach, which is another reason for me to look forward to Destiny more than something like Halo 5 (though not quite as much as, say, a Halo 2 Anniversary, if it's real). Reach was more colorful, the textures better rounded, and the lighting was starkly superior to Halo 4. Of course I have my own qualms with Halo 4 as a "Halo" title, being a very long time Halo vet (literally since the beginning) and Halo guru, but was nevertheless a fantastic shooter by shooter standards.

In a video I watched, I heard the multiplayer will mirror that of the original. If that is true, than I have never anticipated a multiplayer more than this. Hope it's the exact same, none of this custom loadout BS that changed the skill required to succeed in a Halo multiplayer. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is completing it on legendary solo. What a crippling thought.

Check out the article I read I don't know if you guys saw but... HALO 2 ANNIVERSARY IS CONFIRMED!!! (at least I think so, based on IGN and several other articles) Being a huge massive giant classic Halo fan/savant, this has been my dream since the Combat Evolved Anniversary in 2011. The team behind CEA (a little part of 343) has supposedly been developing it and is expected to release later this year, while pushing back the next Halo (5?). I'd wager the newly dubbed H2A will sell better than the next Halo, but that is personal speculation. Anyhow, we will see a HD reboot for Bungie's genre-definer much similar to CEA, this time for Xbox One (I would also like to see it for Xbox 360 as well), hopefully with cool little extras to broaden the already expansive lore. The game is rumored to come with beta access to the next Halo (for those interested) among things, but that is not the best extra. Supposedly, H2A will release a version containing ports to Halo 4 and (*drumroll*) my favorite title, Halo 3. I will literally go out and buy an Xbox One for exclusively this bundle if this news is true. And speaking of buying Xbox Ones, Microsoft is planning on releasing a white version X1 and a cheaper version that will apparently lack a disk drive. That sounds kinda ridiculous but nothing in this article is actually confirmed, just leaked and reported on by assumed credible reporters. Anyway, I will be counting down the days to see Halo 2 in refined glory. Long live the Bungie classic! By the way, all I can think about is an HD rendition of the cutscene after the first mission aboard the Forward Unto Dawn (The Armory, if I remember correctly), when the Master Chief "gives" a Covenant cruiser their bomb back. My heart will stop for sure.

Halo is, perhaps, a little too fast to gain anything from AR. GoW required a much more strategic approach to gameplay than Halo does in my opinion and with 343 trying to make the game play faster and faster, I think it would prove more and more detrimental to future gameplay. Never thought about AR outside of Gears though.

that would be nice. I hate to see Bungie keep her alive and well throughout their series but as soon as 343 gets their hands on Cortana they kill her. Theoretically, so long as Halsey is still alive, Cortana can be remade (and improved).

Check out the article Here!! I don't know if you guys saw this yet, but it seems that 343 and Microsoft are adding a new medium for Halo to invade - Film. I remember seeing something like this a few years ago, fellas like Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp (both franchise fans) considered producing a Halo film around 2005, but never actually got off the ground. I heard it was going to be about the fall of Reach, but I guess I will never know. Anyhow, thanks to the massive market success of Halo 4 (opinion of the game aside), it seems more likely than ever that we will see a Halo movie next to a Halo TV Series. A credible film production news host added an "untitled Halo film" to their list of films beginning production. To be directed by Ridley Scott and written by Paul Scheuring, this new project is probably the nearest thing to a legitimate Halo film we have seen thusfar. As of late, there are no clues to the plot, setting, or characters, much less if it will even make it to filming this time around. I think it will. I believe we will have a Halo film in our midst by 2016. What do you guys think? Read on if you want to know my suggestions for a good Halo film. JUST DO NOT MAKE THIS WARNING: PERSONAL OPINION The best advice I would have for Scheuring is to not make the game about the Master Chief. That may sound crazy to those not terribly versed in Halo lore, but the Master Chief is a character that was built in the books and expressed in the games. Why not feature him in a movie? I'm afraid a film would taint my image of the Master Chief (like Halo 4 did) that has been delicately developed for me through years of Halo games and novels (since the beginning in fact), and everyone knows that movies never compare to their novel counterparts. Take that Eragon movie that came out a while ago. That was hard to watch, but the books were really good. To make a good Halo film that would satisfy long-time Halo fans, Halo gurus (like myself), and noobs to the epic, make a whole new story and new characters with familiar Halo themes and settings, and make it fall satisfyingly within Halo lore without contradiction. It would be easy because very many authors have stuffed big stories into the universe without problem. I'm also open to a Fall of Reach movie, kinda as a tribute to Eric Nylund who basically built the Halo universe post CE. I'd like to know your opinions as well. Thanks for reading

Halo 4 Legendary Ending is an Insult Rather Than a Reward
SPARTAN 117 replied to TunnelRat's topic in Halo 4
By legendary ending standards, the extra second of video was not worth the challenge of beating the game at that difficulty alone. Personally, I think they should keep the Chief's face secret. To Bungie, his humanity was never a flaw in his character, and now giving the Chief a troubled human element definately changes the feel of the game's story. Not necessarily a bad thing, but certainly rehashed from other titles. KEEP THAT FACE HIDDEN!!! -
so long as there are no more achievements, I will be happy to play season 2 cuz I have already got all the achievements for this game

Easy cowboy 343 worked on Halo 4 for years, since Bungie's rights to Halo expired after Reach. It ended up being exactly what 343 wanted it to be, and was bug free for all I know. Sure, it was sub-par compared to Bungie's releases, but that wasn't due to time constraint, it was due to the changes posed by 343. Nevertheless, Halo 4 may have a less-than-awesome Halo, but still ended up being a very good shooter by shooter standards imo.

The Flood will never ever ever be gone ever. They are older than humanity. They are older than than the Forerunners. They are even older than the Prescursors. The Flood is what caused the fall of the latter two species, and they nearly destroyed humanity a hundred thousand years ago (when the Forerunners and the human, though not as we know them, coexisted). They can be and are anywhere in the vastness of distant space, whose origins are unknown and whose Graveminds bear thousands of years of knowledge. They are kind of like Mass Effect's Reapers in role, but act much slower and randomly, so the extinction of the galaxy's ruling specie is gradual and definitive. They were not on Requiem because because the planet (an artificial structure like the Halos, also like Onyx and Trevelyan) was a shield world built to protect against invasion and stay outside of the Halo Array's blast radius, as it was initially built as a safe-haven for humanity to regrow after the Forerunners devolved them to what we recognize as human now. Unfortunately, the Ur-Didact held the construct as his own to survive the first Halo Array firing, in an effort to return one day to destroy humanity against his wife's (the Librarian) will. Earth (known as Erde-Tyrene) became a last-ditch location for the rest of humanity and for the Librarian, for it lies on the edge of the blast radius, though no one knows if any humans are alive on the Lesser Ark as well, presumably with the Iso-Didact (at least if I remember correctly. Feel free to correct, you Halo lore junkies). The first Halo Array firing, which destroyed all life for hundreds of lightyears, could not end the Flood, so I have no reason to believe a few-year firefight with them will either. Another Gravemind will grow in the galaxy, and the Flood will be reborn.

I really liked the Scarab-Gun Plasma Rifle from the Metropolis, mostly because there is only one in the Halo universe (though possibly one in Reach as well) and it took me like 4 hours to get the first time. Absolutely worth it though. Halo 2 demands a next-gen reboot. As per "Iconic" weapon, the Battle Rifle is the ultimate go-to in this game.
