  1. I have always liked the 1v1 play list idea for the reasons stated. There is always a concern about having enough maps to support the game type, but random MM against other players, I feel, would be very popular. Doubles has long been the best way to show as much individual talent along with the "team" concept. Hopefully the developers have this game type in mind.
  2. I agree and I don't even play the game type. I have seen a number of good forge versions of invasion that could easily be used for the game type and give a little more variety to it. One of our members offered a pretty fun one during our last Reach Play Date. I am unaware of what it takes to convert a map like Highlands, Tempest and Condemned to Invasion, but they seem like the size would work.
  3. I have downloaded it this morning. Had a good time during the Custom play date and look forward to offering more and seeing more maps.
  4. This sounds a lot like The New Infection for Halo 4.
  5. What are you talking about, this is the Halo 4 forum.
  6. It was already posted here in Halo Facts and Rumors and received comments.
  7. This is some of Frank's own thoughts. O’Conner claims that there are a lot of changes coming for the character, both aesthetically and in play, but the game will still feel fundamentally like a Halo game. The first difference we can expect is in how Master Chief looks. “There’s some fairly radical modifications to his armor” says O’Connor. “Some of those are an artistic evolution, but some are connected to the story. We just can’t talk about it yet. He’s been in space for a long time.”
  8. KRAZ3D I think that it is safe to assume that 343i will have some special features, giveaways and other promotional items for their game, Halo 4. They are basically considered the "custodians" of Reach. They do now own the franchise, which includes Reach, but they have made no mention of any giveaways. They may choose to do one final tribute to Bungie and their fans with something, but only time will tell.
  9. For newer members, this is from my OP title. " The Halo 4 Engine" I will list any related information here in this OP that refers to any discussion, interview or video that offers any insight into the question o which engine is to be used. 1 ) The first is from nowgamer.com via N4G and dated June 14 2011 and is a quote from Microsoft Game Studios corporate VP Spencer: Article 2 ) The next is a statement by Frank O'Conner and posted in CVG dated November 14 2011 and is a quote from E3: Article 3 ) This is again reported PCWorld on November 14 2011 as seen here: Article 4 ) This is an actual interview with Spike TV at E3 in Frank O'Conner's own words: Video 5 ) This is a video interview with Josh Holmes and Kiki Wolfkill by Game Informer dated October 26 2011. The key part referring to the engine takes place at 19:30 in the interview, but the entire interview is the best non stop back and forth discussion of the new game and the environment, music, sounds and the inclusion of more of the Halo history. The character of the Master Chief will also be more revealed to the fans as well. : Video With all of this information it is still not completely clear what the actual engine is other than a culmination of engines. It is clear that it was stated, "343 obviously has partnered closely with Bungie for a while," Microsoft Game Studios corporate VP Spencer said, "We had been working with them on Halo: Reach and map packs. We started with the code base from Halo, so it's not something we had to re-roll from the beginning. [Chief Technology Officer] David Wu and the team behind the core engine tech inside of 343 have done a lot of work." Does this simply mean it will progress as in the past? Even by using part of the Reach engine, as well as others, would it be a completely new experience? Since being partnered with Bungie so early on, it would allow them to use just the code or writing they want minus, all the features of the current game, as they have done in the past by just bringing the best parts forward. I hope this gives a clearer picture than some of the misinformation that I had even had.
  10. Read the rules posted at the bottom right of every single page and links in my post above.
  11. What do you guys think of this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=eKmIzaobFQU
  12. You need to read this post here and the rules here.
  13. Tunnel Passage This map supports Slayer, BTB Slayer, CTF and KOTH. It will support the use of all AA's and features only UNSC weapons plus the sticky grenade. It is best used for 4v4, 6v6 and 8v8 team play. This is a unique, multi-level terrain map centered around the cove of The Island. It features two bases with multiple levels, entrances, a mounted machine gun, three mongoose and a wart hog. The bases are separated by low, mid and high level passages, a tunnel, a short bridge and a man cannon for each side to vault across the furthest out crop of the cove. The two small covered posts that over see each end of the bridge house the sniper rifles and a central tunnel the holds the lone laser on the map. Tunnel Passage Screenshots
  14. Yeah, I guess player should not be allowed to enjoy the game they purchased. This is the reason Reach and the ban system has failed in a way. There is no legitimate ranked playlist and the auto ban catches new and novice players in it's grasp. This was never an issue in Halo 3 because of the separate playlist. The casual player could always have fun regardless of the amount of kills they got or did not get. The more experienced player always had another play list to go to.
  15. I agree, you can also post here to help get attention to this problem.
  16. Unless your guest were not playing at times, it appears the auto ban system saw the guest accounts, as well as yours on a couple of occasions, getting no kills and applied the ban. If it is your first one, it will end tomorrow. They typically last 24 hours. If you were playing with controllers with no one using them, then the ban is correct. Apparently the system is flawed and cannot decipher between a bad player and one who is not playing.
  17. The "How to post a Map" has already been added to my pinned OP here along with other needed information.
  18. Sure buddy, I will add it to the pinned topic. It can be seen here.
  19. I truly enjoy playing snipers myself, but have to take breaks from the game type because of the complete lack of maps. Speaking to that first, the "traditional" maps list should include a notable variety of the community forged maps that would support snipers. The maps given for each vote need to grouped so that the existing list always is grouped together, then forge maps grouped together offering none of the existing maps if "none of the above" is selected. ( I will give an example below ) I would also like to see maps like Highlands, Tempest, Condemned, Unearthed and Anchor 9 placed together as a map selection with no "none of the above option" for a DLC playlist that still includes the "traditional" sniper selection. A "Premium" DLC Snipers would include all before mentioned maps plus the new maps of Halo CEA. In regards to sniper game variants, the OP's thoughts on "Head Seeker" should become, or be considered for, Sniper Pro. No radar, vehicles and only head shots get the kill. For me snipers is snipers, I don't care to have any objective type of game play there. There are more than enough original community forge maps and I would not want to play on remakes of previous games maps myself. Map Selection Example: Snipers Hemmorage Boardwalk Uncaged None of the above, if chosen you are given three maps from forge world or another round of original maps. Forge Map 1 Forge Map 2 Forge Map 3 None of the above, if chosen you are given three more maps from forge world. DLC Snipers Includes the above maps and selections plus a rotation of the following maps: Highlands Anchor 9 Tempest Condemned Unearthed No "none of the above" selection unless for another round of DLC maps. Premium DLC Snipers Includes all of the above plus the maps of Halo CEA in a similar voting process to the DLC Snipers. There has to be more variety in snipers and a set block of rotation for map selections that would balance in the forge choices as well as DLC choices. Snipers numbers have dropped to apathy of players who have tired of the same old thing time and again and no serious interest for the playlist map selection from Bungie in the past and 343i as of yet. I personally do not play enough Swat to speak in depth on the game type, other than to say I have seen enough swat players voice the need for more maps in the voting process.
  20. I completely agree, it is a major pet peeve of mine for as long as I can remember. I played default in H 2 and H3 and Recon in Reach and it annoys me to no end. I hope their is a way in the future to customize the controller button layout in the future. Nice point. No one needs to tell me to try another layout, it is what I play and it comes natural to me.
  21. I may only be able to participate in a few early games, but if the play date continues into the late afternoon, I will be ready to rumble!
  22. I personally like this idea. It is what we played as kids and it creates a "Tug of War" variation for KOTH, which along with CTF has been a favorite of mine for objective.
  23. I want to be as quick on my feet as possible. I have tried toggle crouch, but it has failed me many more times than it has proven effective. When hold to crouch has been and integral part of your game for 10+ years, toggling it has some serious down sides in rapid or or congested action for me.
