  6. Spoiler Alert! the arbiter appears to be assassinated in his attempts to keep the other elites from returning to war with the humans ONI assists these rebel elites because they want a war-torn elite nation so they dont have to deal with the elites trying to come back and wipe them out so basically the elites get taken over by a rebel force and arbiter is prolly dead and the elites come back to kick our butts kk?
  7. Right'o but then ppl who followed would not get a posty thing yes? O.o like a lil warny thing that says "new content blah blah"

  9. (cont...) Continuing down the corridor, the squad found the control room, but the doors to it were welded shut. "Looks like someone doesn't want to be disturbed," Rhino chuckled as he examined the welding on the door. "Alright, fun times over, stand clear." Kaat said as he slung his assault rifle over his shoulder and stepped towards the door. Nitsua, staring wide eyed, was quickly pulled away by Rhino as a charging sound was emitted by Kaat's armor. His shields shimmered but the light seemed to slowly move from covering his entire body to covering only his fists. As the light intensified on his fists he brough them back and then slammed them forward into the door with an rumbling boom that was manafested by a large chunk of the middle of the door flying away. Kaat's shield meter drained and an audible alarm blared in his ears. Turning to Nitsua, he quickly explained,"Modifications...kind like the non-standard-issue pistol you have there." Slowly his shields recharged and he pried the doors the rest of the way open. Stepping into the room, the first noticeable feature was that the room was mostly lit by the large control pannels in the center on a raised platform, but the next thing that came to the squad's attention was the fact that the floor was littered with grunt bodies that had been clearly chewed on. Glancing at the rest of the squad, Kaat motioned to Ed,"Check those bodies for flood infection." Ed stared a minute,"How..?" Rhino had walked over to one of the corpses and punctuated this question by shooting one of the grunts twice in the chest and once in the head. Ed jumped, looked over at the direction of the shots, and then slowly responded, "Oh..." "These teeth marks look like elite mandibles," Rhino said in a hushed and disturbed tone. Walking around the room to the left, Kaat suddenly heard a burst of automatic weapons fire from the other direction. Spinning around, he saw Liza backing away from a shadowy figure which had emmerged from a depression in the wall in the one corner of the room. She was firing a pair of smgs at the thing, but it seemed to wade through the bullets. Sprinting across the room, Kaat drew a combat knife off his chest and swung at the creature from its right. Its arm came up and blocked his swing inches from its head. The creature leaned forward a few inches and a loud pop followed by a recognizable hiss heralded the blinding white plasma blade that extended in the creatures left hand. The enraged face of an elite, soaked in grunt blood and foaming at the mouth, became visible in the light of the blade. "Well we found what ate the grunts, boys," said Kaat as he stared in amazement. The elite swung its plasma sword up at Kaat, who proceeded to imploy the same tactic the elite had. They now stood with their arms locked against eachother, each with a weapon directly next to their opponents head, the whole scene lit by the energy sword's blade. They both put all of their energy into the actions of forcing their weapon closer to the opponent's head while pushing against their opponent's weapon hand. Seeing that he would lose in a battle of wills against this clearly mentally unstable creature that was growling with foam mixed with blood dripping from its mandables, Kaat brought his knee up forcefully enough to break bones into the creatures crotch. It simply looked down at the impact then stared back at him. "Can't blame a guy for trying," Kaat shrugged. Stomping his foot into the side of the elites leg, Kaat heard a snap and saw the elite stumble a few inches to its left and down. Bringing his helmet down into the now eye-level top of the elites head. The elite went limp for a fraction of a second, a fraction of a second in which it suddenly found a combat knife implanted in its skull. Snapping the elites arm, the energy blade dropped to the floor, and its failsafe shut it off as it thudded on the ship's deck. Swiping the blade up off the floor, Kaat tested to see if the failsafes had made it completely inoperable or temporarily shut down. The blade popped out with a hiss, and Kaat turned it back off and stored it in a bag on his lower back. Walking past Liza, who was standing where she had stopped as Kaat had stepped into the battle, Kaat jokingly said, "Now we're even." He slotted a chip into the console of the Covenant ship, and Essence whispered into the com,"Uplink established. Downloading information now..." Suddenly the ship seemed to come alive. Lights around the room flickered on and the engines could be heard starting up. "Essence..?" Kaat said questioningly as he scanned the room. "Not me...it seems the flood found a way to get the ships engines operational again. Wait, I'm picking up slight energy spikes from the slipspace drives...It looks like they're trying to jump," Essence replied. "****, party's over people we gotta jump ship before they jump the ship." Kaat said as he made his way to the door. "Squads one through five aknowledge, abandoning ship, over?" Each squad messaged back with the sound of gunfire in the background confirming that they were moving to their extraction point except for the third squad who had been MIA since the start of the battle. Kaat knew when he had sent the message to all squads that the third was gone, but he still had hoped that at least someone from their group might have found a way out. Working their way down the hallway, they ran into squad two who were running backwards shooting at something that was around the corner. Chris 003 spun when he saw movement to his left and aiming his rifle at them for a fraction of a second let it drop back to his side and stormed over to Kaat. "Our exfil is overrun. Looks like we're hitchhiking in your ride." he said as he kept glancing over his shoulder. "Alright well let's go then." Kaat said as he started to walk past Chris. 003 grabbed his shoulder and spun him around,"Not that way we aren't going. There's enough flood down that hallway to coat the outside of this ship end-to-end. We're going to have to take a little detour..." he said in a less-than-enthusiastic voice. Sprinting down a series of side-corridors, they came across a section of hallway in which they had last heard from squad three. The walls were coated in blood, pieces of flood, and bullet holes. The bodies of the squad lay strewn on the floor with several of them coated in flood material. The nearest ODST on the floor turned his head slowly and stared at Kaat. "Kill....me......" he moaned in a tormented voice as a flood spore twitched its way the rest of the way into his chest. The whole squad stared in unspoken horror for several seconds before Kaat finally spoke,"Shoot them..." he whispered as he slowly turned away. For several seconds the hallway was lit with the flashes of gunfire which reflected off the polarized helmets of every man on the squad. Screaming in rage and anguish many of the squad members ran out of bullets only to reload and continue firing madly into the bodies. Chris walked over and put a hand on Kaat's shoulder as the gunfire stopped,"Let's get out of here before we end up the same way..." he said gruffly. Nodding, Kaat turned and helped Ed up, who had fallen to the floor sillently crying, and they continued down the hallway to the ship. Reaching the door, they began to run through but jumped back as a voice screamed,"FIRE!" and a volley of battle rifle bullets pinged off the wall behind them. "Riley?! Is that you, yah stupid *****, you nearly killed us, *******!!" Rhino screamed around the corner. "Sorry sir!!" a timid voice yelled back shakily. "Hold your ****ing fire, we're coming in!" Rhino shouted back. As they entered the hangar, Kaat noticed a significant remodeling in the fact that the floor now sported a rug of dead flood and spent shell casings. The machine guns had long since run out of ammo and the ODST's stood with battle rifles and dmr's at the back of the pelican. "It's a good thing someone left a pile of guns inside the pelican, or we'd have bit it." one of the ODST panted. Kaat avoided looking in Rhino's direction. They started climbing into the pelican when the door on the other side of the hangar slid open and the 4th squad burst in shooting into the hallway they came from. "Hostiles right on our six!!!" yelled the ODST at the lead of the group who was sprinting straight for the pelican. One of the ODST's who had remained to guard the pelican began to fire past the others that were coming in. They all stormed up the ramp as the pelican lifted off the floor. The last ODST onboard barely made it in as the ramp closed. They left the hangar and were soon on their way back to the Hell Hound. The ammount of equipment and people crammed into the pelican made it a tight and very uncormfortable ride, but nearly all of the occupants were glad to make it out in one piece.

Dust and Echoes "Scan it again..." Kaatisu said to the ship's A.I.. A large, blue flame appeared on the pedistal next to him a few seconds later. "There is NO detectable life onboard the ship and its shields are down. We've been over this exacly five times now," an ethereal voice patiently stated from the pedistal's speakers. "Why would a Covenant ship be floating in the middle of nowhere with its shields down...?" 081 mumbled half to himself. The flames on the pedistal shaped themselves into a humanoid form as the A.I. quickly answered, "Theres really only one way to find out now.." Spinning around to face the projection of the A.I., Kaatisu asked, "You're sure that you can't translate that message it's broadcasting?" "Positive," the A.I. sighed,"not only is the message poorly recorded, but the largest portion of the words I can make out I haven't come across before. It seems there was some form of disease aboard..." "Cause enough to be cautious," Kaat responded as he made his way through the personnel on deck,"have five squads meet me in the hangar. Tell em the Covies have invited us to a party and the RSVP is for spartans and ODST's in biohazard proof gear only," he paused part way out the door," and keep the MAC trained on that ship in case our friends decide they aren't quite so dead yet..." On the ride over Kaat had an extremely strange feeling in his gutt that he could just not seem to shake. He had had the same feeling on the way to the hangar which was why he had packed his pistol, an smg, a shotgun, his assault rifle, and enough rounds to wage a small war. Some of the other crew had watched this suspiciously and had followed suit. As they loaded onto the pelicans, Kaat watched in amazement as one of the Spartan III's, Ed D048, had lugged one of the prototype hand-held spartan gatlin guns and two canisters of ammo for it onto the pelican with him. Several of the ODST's in the pelican elbowed eachother and pointed. The ride over to the Covenant ship was strangely silent except for the clicking of weapons being checked and readied. Looking across from himself, Kaat noticed Liza 099 staring straight ahead of herself not moving at all. "Why is she always so difficult to read?" he thought to himself. After their initial meeting and the time she had tried to kill him, he hadn't seen much of anything that looked like a real emotion out of her... His thoughts were quickly interupted by a sharp jab in his side. "HEY! So there gonna be lot's of Covies?! You armed up like we're fighting a Prophet's personal guard or something," an excited voice yelled from the direction of the elbow that had just slammed into his abdomen. Kaatisu turned to the ODST next to him and saw a rhino painted on the man's chestplate. "Oh great of course we'd have five different pelicans and he'd be on the same one as me for this trip..." he thought to himself. Then outloud he said, "Rhino, this is just a recon, we prolly wont even need those ten to fifteen guns you're lugging, and furthermore I doubt if you'll be able to keep up if you carry all of those." Rhino slowly stared down at the pile of guns he had been strapping onto himself and began picking out individual weapons and storing them in a compartment onboard the pelican. Kaat slowly got lost in his thoughts again as he stared at the mechanical replacement for his arm, he still hadn't gotten quite used to it and it brought up painful memories. A voice came through his helmet's speakers, "One minute." Quickly standing up, Kaat made one last check to ensure all his equipment was secure and would make as little noise as possible when he moved. Then motioning to everyone in the pelican, he watched as they all stood up and grabbing their gear, lined up in a pair of rows facing the back of the pelican. The light above the door turned an ominous red as Kaat slowly tried to clear his mind of the forebodings that he had been having on the way over. Soon after the light switched to a bright green and the ramp on the back of the pelican dropped. The ODST's thundered down the ramp followed quickly by the Spartans. The hangar of the Covenant ship was completely empty. "It's like they abandoned ship..." one of the ODST's nearly whispered into the com. Four of the ODST's quickly ran a few feet from the pelican and placed down turrets which were then hardmounted to the floor. Several boxes of ammo for these guns were brought out and set down next to them in orderly lines. Kaat motioned to Rhino, Liza, and Ed to follow him and slowly made his way to one of the doors at the far end of the hangar. The door, which normally would slide open when something came within a certain distance of it, was opening and shutting partially over and over. The lighting that would normally shine from a Covenant door's surface, on this door, was flickering inconsistantly. As they reached the door Kaat made a series of quick motions with his off hand while he kept his assault rifle trained on the door, and the others quickly stacked up on either side of the door. Kaat motioned to Liza who wripped the control pannel for the door off the wall and began immediatly rewiring the door. Suddenly Rhino raised a hand and motioned with it at the small hole between the opening and shutting doors. Kaat pressed his assault rifle more closely to his shoulder and sited the area Rhino had motioned. He thought he saw something moving in the shadows on the other side of the door, but he couldn't be sure. Looking more closely, he saw nothing and he motioned to Liza to continue opening the door. Entering the hallway on the other side, he saw plasma burns covering the walls on either side. "Heads up...we've got signs of a battle...Rhino move to the back of the squad, you don't have shields to protect you from plasma blasts." Kaat said into his com as he continued to check the hallway. "Let's just hope we don't run into the guys who won..." Rhino murmured as he stared at a sploch of blue blood on the floor. Ed whined,"Remind me why we can't just have Essence hack the Covenant's stuff and pull the info we need from their computer while we stay onboard our nice, comfy, safe ship..." "Because the control room for the ship is cut off from the points where Essence tried to hack in. We need to insert her directly into one of the consoles inside of the control room for her to get any informatiom from this dump, now shut up and take point since you decided to bring the big gun." Kaat said in a cheerful voice. Moaning, Ed moved to the front and began hesitantly edging his way down the twisting hallways of the ship. Moving further down the hallway in the direction of the NAV point that indicated the control room for the ship, they ran into a pile of burning rubble. "Essence, talk to me..." Kaat said into his com. The Hell Hound's A.I. quickly responded, "The section of the ship you have just entered is somehow disconnected...I'm reading that theres direct damage to the censors in that area...be advised, I'm blind to your team Wolf-1." "Understood," Kaat quietly growled into the com,"we're looking at the damage right now...it looks like the Covies were trying to seal off this pasageway...this is starting to get a little strange... all units move back your exfil points we're bugging out. Hell Hound, get ready to MAC as soon as-" Suddenly one of the ODST's broke through on the com, "Hold up, movement...Nat, check it out..." There was a long tense pause as all the squads waited. The com clicked on again, "Wait a sec... MOVEMENT! 2 O'CLOCK! THE VENTS! Confirm, hostiles..? WHAT THE **** ARE THOSE THINGS SERGEANT?! Stay calm ****it! **** we got shroom-boys! OPEN FIRE! REPEAT FIRE AT WILL!! CONTACTS! HUNDREDS OF THEM!" The com filled with the sound of assault rifles firing at full automatic without pause and the occassion sound of a scream. Ed turned to Kaat, "'Shroom-boys'? What the **** is that supposed to mean?" As he turned on the flashlight and lasersight on either side of his MA5B and made sure a grenade was loaded into the launcher on the bottom of it, Kaat glanced over at Ed and said simply, "You're about to find out really quick..." As if to prove him correct, the walls nearby were suddenly filled with a chittering sound that caused them all to spin around and aim their weapons at it. "Here they come..." whispered Rhino. Kaat watched as his motion sensor was filled with a line of red dots rolling down the general location of the hallway from which they had just come. Kaat pointed his assault rifle to the door and readied the grenade launcher on it. Waiting for what seemed like an eternity, he watched as the red dots stopped at a point on his motion sensor that would have put the contacts right in front of the door. The dots disapeared from his sensor as soon as they reached this point. Watching the door carefully, Kaat began to listen for something, anything that might give away the enemy's position. Over the top of the breathing of his squad, he barely heard a small, slithering sound that seemed to come from the ceiling above them. "They're in the vents above us," he said as he slowly backed up. The whole squad slowly backed up until they were only a few feet from the rubble they had found blocking the hallway. The ceiling a few feet down the hallway collapsed and several hundred small balloon-like creatures poured out and began making their way down the hallway on small tenticles. Kaat fired a grenade into the first wave of them and watched as half the mob exploded and was replace by even more of the creatures falling out of the ceiling. The whole squad opened fire. The enemy stayed true to their name and continued to pour onto the squad like a flood. As he started to reload at one point Kaat suddenly noticed a large figure grabbing his rifle. Looking up, he saw what appeared to be an elite but horribly decayed. He had presented his blinded eye forward a bit as he had gone to reload and the creature had unknowingly taken advantage of this. Cursing his carelessness, Kaat watched as the creature swung its other arm at him,and saw the elites head dangling with a horrified look in its decaying eyes behind the creatures back. Slamming the clip the rest the way in, Kaat squeezed down on the trigger and watched as the reanimated corpse twitched on the end of his gun before it fell to the floor as a smoking pulp with a hole blown through the center of it. A string of curses exploded through the com from Rhino. Looking behind him Kaat saw one of the creatures had dropped from the ceiling and was wrapping itself around the outside of Rhino's helmet and trying to impale him with one of its tenticles. Wripping a small knife out of a pouch down on his leg he threw it and watched the flood spore explode into a pile of goo on Rhino's helmet. "'TAKE THE BACK' YOU SAID! 'IT'LL BE SAFEST FOR YOU' YOU SAID! REMIND ME TO SHOOT YOU THE NEXT TIME YOU GIVE ME AN ORDER LIKE THAT!" Rhino bellowed. Kaat grinned slightly, Rhino's enragement not only ment he was alright but was p'ed off at the enemy and hell-bent on killing as many as possible. Continuing to shoot into the neverending hoard, the squad slowly began to run out of ammo. By the time Rhino screamed, "LAST MAG! WE NEED A WAY OUTTA HERE NOW!" it became apparent they weren't going to be able to shoot their way out. Motioning to Ed, Kaat yelled, "Lay down a supressive fire with the gatlin! We're gonna work on a way out of here!" Then turning to Rhino as the hallway was filled with the roar of the gatlin gun, Kaat pointed at the rubble, "Is there anyway to clear that?" Rhino stared at the pile for a while before saying,"Yeah, but we're all still in the edge of the blast zone!" Yelling over the top of the gatlin, Kaat replied, "Do it!" Placing several charges on the pile of rubble Rhino ran back over and yelled, "It's done! and by the way, the next time we go on a 'recon' I'm packing a scorpian tank and I don't care what you say!" Kaat rolled his eyes behind the mirrored visor of his helmet before replying, "Agreed, and by the way you won't like what's going to have to happen next..." Staring at him Rhino slowly asked, "What are you talking about...." "Running out of ammo here!!!" Ed yelled. Kaat threw Rhino to the floor and, rolling himself up over the top of the cursing and flailing ODST, he covered him as he pushed the button on the detonator Rhino was flailing around. The hallway lit up a blinding white-red as a wall of fire rolled down it. Kaat's shields flared up as the fire from the explosion washed against him and several chunks of shrapnel pinged off his armor. Once the explosion died out Kaat stood up and checked the hallway. The rest of the squad got on their feet too and seemed to be lacking any major injuries. The whole hallway was coated in ash and pieces of flood. Rhino, slowly standing up, growled quietly at Kaat, "If you ever tell anyone about this, I'll kill you..." "You said we were too close to the edge of the blast zone," Kaat argued as he moved towards the newly created hole in the rubble. "But I didn't say i wanted to be tossed down and hugged by another man! I think I'd have prefered to take my chances with the explosion.." Rhino mumbled as the squad moved towards the exit and a small trickle of flood began to drop from the hole in the ceiling behind them again. "We need to get this hole sealed ASAP." Kaat said as he stepped through. Suddenly a creature lunged out from behind a larger chunk of the rubble and swung at Kaat. Ducking, the blow flew past him by inches but managed to knock his assault rifle out of his hands. The creature proceded to lunge at him and Kaat held it at arms length with one hand while he wripped his knife loose from his shoulderplate with his other hand. Stabbing the combat knife into the creature he watched as his entire arm disappeared into the creatures chest into a half-rotted, goo-like substance. Trying to pull his knife loose, Kaat watched as the creature prepared to bring its arm down on his face. Anticipating a heavy blow, he tucked his head down, but suddenly felt his smg leave his hip. Looking to his left he saw its barrel get stuffed over his shoulder into the flood infected elite's chest and watched as the gun, deafeningly roaring in his ear, made the creature's chest fold and explode from all of the bullets striking it. As the creature fell away from his arm, he shook his knife off and placed it back in its sheath as Liza stepped past him and continued to shoot the corpse on the floor before handing him back his smg with smoke curling from the barrel. "You owe me one..." she said softly as she kept walking down the hallway. Sealing up the passageway that they had recreated, the squad moved down the hallway and began examining the rooms that they found along the way. One of these rooms turned out to be some sort of brig. Inside a mob of flood clustered against one of the cells and seemed to be staring at something intently. Gunning them all down the squad moved into the brig and Kaat advanced over towards the cell. "Liza, see what u can do about securing the room. Ed, watch the door." he said over his shoulder as he and Rhino walked up to the cell. Rhino shot one of the flood that was twitching on the floor with a short burst and screamed a few expletives at it as he walked over. Looking inside the cell Kaat saw a man dressed in what appeared to be an ONI officer's uniform. The man had clearly been tortured by the Covenant but was still conscious enough to stand up when he noticed he was about to be rescued. "Well this is unexpected. Things were looking pretty grim for a second there," he said. "We noticed," grunted Rhino as he delivered one final kick to the offending body he had previously been shooting. "few more hours the power mighta had some issues then you'd be food..." "I'm Lieutenant Nitsua Asuka," the man said sticking his hand out to Kaat. Grasping it Kaat replied, "Alpha of the Burning Wolves, Kaatisu Sorottou, previously known as S-081." Seeing the man's puzzled look he continued,"It's kind of like a General in your terms...we'll have to explain later...can i trust you to put aside your ties with ONI long enough for us to get off this ship? I wanna arm you so you can help, but I'd prefer to avoid being shot in the back." The man laughed and replied,"Yeah I think I can control myself until we get off the ship, no promises then though," he joked. Pulling out his pistol, Kaat spun it around to face the grip to the man. Staring at it, Nitsua grinned,"What, you don't trust me with a real gun?" A derogatory laugh was heard from Rhino but quickly sillenced by Kaat glancing over his shoulder at him. Turning back to Nitsua he replied, "Trust me, it's a real gun, and you'll need these," he said as he handed him seven extras clips in a small pack. As they walked out the door they saw a small group of flood and Nitsua aimed the pistol for accuracy but as he pulled the trigger it fired a fourth of its extended clip in a fully automatic burst causing the ONI officer to jump in suprise. Rhino let loose a loud burst of laughter as Kaat put a hand on the flustered lieutenant's shoulder and said, "You might wanna be careful with that..."
