  1. What's in a name? A beast by any other would pwn just as hard. Is your self-worth somehow tied into that name? Are you not beastly and awesome without it? Or does it play a part in your strategy, like some form of psychological warfare? I daresay you needn't dwell on it. If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, et cetera…
  2. Just goes to show the old saying is right: When you try to please everybody, nobody likes it. Thanks, Mr. O'Connor and 343 Industries! Your caving to the demands of the young, the ignorant and the just plain silly has done almost nothing to quell the fire of displeasure — all it did is just shift places. Excellent work.
  3. That's all we can ask. Thank you, Twammybear. You're the best admin I've ever had.
  4. I'm sure I would be thrilled by the update… if I wasn't now strictly confined to the mobile site. Just sorta defeats the purpose of the update, from my perspective. Anyhow, nice work, Twammybear. It's all trés beautiful. But I miss Shoutbox. *Sigh*
  5. I'm happy that I can still use the mobile version of the site, even though I can't use the Shoutbox anymore without gargantuan amounts of lag. I'm gonna miss the Shoutbox. But thanks anyway, AoD.
  6. So… V put "Explosivo" and Kurt, you put "Hot for Teacher"… I'm no rocket scientist, but I think there are a couple of letters we've missed in there… OT: Indestructible — Matthew Good Band
  7. Sure, HH. Next time you see him, though, tell Twammybear that Father Bullet sends his regards. :hello:
  8. Thoughts on each game? Like… in detail? Well, okay. Halo: Combat Evolved I hadn't been serious about FPS's since 007: Goldeneye on the N64. So when I first played H:CE I was thoroughly blown away. The graphics were crazy. The controls felt fluid and easy. The weapons made me giggle like a schoolgirl. And the Covenant were awe-inspiring in how diverse and altogether awesome they were. But nothing blew my mind more than my first experience in the Warthog. I must've spent over an hour just cruising around in that baby, taking her to all sorts of places… some of which I got stuck in… And the air-time! Oh my. The biggest jumps in the game just weren't big enough. In The Silent Cartographer I would have sooner died than get out of my 'Hog. When and where possible I would take her as far into the structures as possible, and then splatter any Covvies that got in my way on the drive out. Which invariably means that the last mission was my favorite. If I could have, I would have taken my 'Hog with me when I made the getaway. Halo 2 Better graphics, nicer armor, a few different weapons… Wasn't as inspired by it as I had been by CE. Wanted my Magnum back. It made me sad when the new pistol turned out to be less useful than wet matches. No truly memorable moments for me other than looking out the window of the orbital defense platform, seeing the Earth and thinking, "Daddy's home!" Halo 3 Very pretty. Equipment tickled me a bit. Better Magnum felt good to have, but not quite right. Multiplayer was wild. Lone Wolves was frenetic, and that's where I got my training. Love the campaign. Most memorable moment was landing on the Ark, looking up and seeing the spiraling figure of our galaxy. Then realizing for the first time that the Forerunners were very probably still kicking around somewhere in the universe. Well, that, and winning my first game of Oddball within 2 minutes of the start of the match, by a difference of 39 points. I got so lucky in that match. What else do you call it when a guy mêlées you in the back, you survive, and then when you drop behind him to grab something he pulls out a SpLazer and suddenly seems to forget all about you? Lag. Lag won me the match. Halo 3: ODST Got a taste of what it would be like to play as a normal Human. I loved it! I wanted more! But the campaign, awesome as it is, didn't last nearly long enough. Tried to sate my lust by roaming New Mombasa at night just hunting down the hidden clues. Found all but one and got frustrated when I couldn't find it. I refuse to cheat by looking it up online, so I moved on. Halo Wars I suck at RTS games like this, but I gave it a shot. Never did finish it. I'll pick up where I left off one day, I think. Probably not before H4 is released, though. It's pretty. Gives some insight into the history of the war. It's worth a try, in my opinion. Halo: Reach Great campaign. Got misty-eyed when Jorge took one for the team, as befits a Spartan-2. The idea of repurposing Spartan-3's for special ops teams, plus watching Twilight, inspired me to start work on a Halo fanfic. Multiplayer isn't as frenetic in Rumble Pit as it was in H3's Lone Wolves, but I don't believe that's a bad thing. I could actually think and breathe at the same time without losing my focus. Halo 4 Campaign is gonna be pretty good; maybe a bit overly flashy. Multiplayer will be awesome once again, but I'll still wish for a bigger color pallet and more paint-scheme options. Kidding! …Maybe.
  9. Sure! But we can just throw it in our sig, like a few others in the community do. I would, myself, except I don't feel like it. If folks are curious enough they can look up my service record themselves.
  10. Does this color make me look fat? *strikes a pose*
  11. I'll be using a differed color now myself, HH. Maroon doesn't stand out well enough against the background. See? Save the cheerleader, save the world. I'm thinking of going with urban camouflage colors (grey and yellow). Don't know how I'll swing that, but we'll see. In the meantime, how do you feel about crimson?
  12. Yeah, I called him Twammybear. So what? You wanna fight about it? Anyway. Update has been applied. New layout bogs down my iPhail something fierce. But it sure is pretty.
  13. So, what are you waiting f… (edit starts) …for? Apparently I'm going to be waiting for my laptop to get fixed because this new layout slows my iPhail right downHence the errors. Sorry guys
  14. Oh… It's you, Choco. Whatever. Welcome back, then, I guess. *Shuffles off.*
  15. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence, Lolmenade. You're saying that you confine yourself to a single board on B.net because the others are infested with infected (trolls). I'm not judging you for it, man. I'm just saying that it doesn't make me feel any better about B.net.
  16. If I can't drive the new 'Hog, I don't want to play it at all. Well… does it have rally races?
  17. Oh dear… Just conceived a disturbing notion. Will this further precaution of which Twammybear speaks cause issues for mobile users who access the full version instead of using the mobile version?
  18. You're very welcome. Waitaminnit… That was directed at me, wasn't it?
  19. Hunter. Bath. Don't shower. Walking tank. Step right on Unggoy and Kig-Yar in the way. Stop, recite poetry/sing, proudly. Blast, smash, stomp anyone who interrupts. Bond brother aka wing-man. Bro-fist.
  20. Goes without saying. Our community is more mature because of Twam, our awesome mods, and the our higher standards of conduct.
  21. I'm happy today because I found out that I have more money than I thought I did. Still can't get on XBL, but one day…
  22. Halo: Spartans Evolved (or: CHRYSALIS … I haven't decided). I won't get too far into it, as I tend to be protective of my things (stems from having things taken from me more times and by more people than I care to remember), and would get really choked-up if I found out somebody took this, too. Halo: Spartans Evolved explores the notion of Human evolution and how it might impact the turnout of a candidate in Colonel Ackerson's Project: Spartan-III. It's actually based on the subject of our beloved hero and icon John-117 and his "Luck". His luck, after all, is what Cortana claims made her choose him to save Humankind. More accurately, it's based on the notion that Master Chief's luck might actually be an innate power or ability that he doesn't even know that he has. One that he doesn't even know that he uses nearly every time he engages in combat or any test of his skill or mettle. And just as recruits for special projects were taken from Spartan-III's Alpha and Beta companies, so too would any candidates who showed any sign of "mysterious abilities" be taken and placed into a new project. That project… Project: Chrysalis I'm actually not sure which I'd rather use as a title for my fanfic: Halo: Spartans Evolved in homage to Halo: Combat Evolved, or Project: Chrysalis. Or even just Chrysalis. I like Chrysalis so I might just use that, but we'll see. I've asked for ideas from Vitamin PWN and 343industries here from the community. Each gave me an excellent idea for which they'll receive special privileges as my Consultants. I love you guys.
  23. Link <= Your post in the GD where I replied with this: The problem with using Achievements to unlock items in the Armory is that Achievements should be challenging. And some folks just can't meet the challenge. That could be why H3's system of unlocks wasn't repeated. Some players just weren't able to get, say, the EOD helmet. Just because I did it, doesn't mean everyone can. And I never unlocked the Scout pauldrons (not that I cared for them, but I wanted the achievement) because players started getting used to hearing the sound of a 'Goose bearing down on them, and they became very good at jumping out of the way or even hijacking it out from under you. Know what I mean? So this system I came up with was conceived to be simple challenges, made easier for those with a knack for a certain style, or a preference for a certain weapon. In theory, the result would be that each Spartan's appearance would be (but never had to be) based on the player's own usual Modus Operandi ("mode/way of operating"). So if a player was a marksman, the items they would unlock would be based on a Sniper's kit or loadout. Meanwhile, if a player was terrible at CQC engagements and skirmishes, any items related to such topics would be more difficult (but not impossible) to unlock. Regarding your other ideas, I like them all. But the one about "killstreak perks" where you made an example with the flaming Energy Sword, that one doesn't sit well with me unless the "perk" is purely cosmetic. I could understand a flaming sword and even flaming bodies, but if the flames do damage, or provide a measure of defense (like damaging opponents just by bumping into them) then a line is being crossed. I wouldn't mind seeing someone glow if they're on a Killing Spree, though. Would help us to identify who to be concerned with.
