  1. Hi everyone, Spartan here with Site Poll 99. Last week I asked you all what your favourite novel/comics were, the victory goes to The Fall of Reach. I'm not surprised that TFoR came out on top, though I did think it would be close. Strong competitors were First Strike and Ghosts of Onyx. Despite all Halo novels being great, Nylund's three were the most voted for. Click here to view Site Poll 98, and here for the Twitter responses. Thel 'Vadam vs Ripa 'Moramee? This is is not a poll for who you like more, it's for who you think would win in a duel. Any weapon(s) may be selected, but both warriors must have the same weapon(s). Assume both are the same age in this duel. There have been many threads and videos on this before, but I want to see what members of this community think, especially in this day and age. There are advantages each Elite has over the other, and they're both exceptional Sangheili, but who do you think would win? Let me know how you think it'll play out and why. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Spartan out.
  2. Hi everyone, Spartan here with Site Poll 90. Last week we talked about your favourite Covenant species. Unsurprisingly, Elites came out on top. People love their honour-based warrior culture, and they are certainly the most respectable out of the species when it comes to fighting the Covenant. Click here to view the last poll, 89. Which Elite do you like most? With Elites winning the spotlight last week, I figured this'll be a Sangheili-appreciate week for the community. Many of these can be inspiring. The eat, breath, and speak honour. Many Arbiters were brave, and there were many "heretics" heroic enough to defy the Covenant's false foundation. There are many Sangheili out there, from Rtas 'Vadum to Let 'Volir, but which Elite do you like most? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Spartan out.
  3. The Fleet of Omnipotent Council is a Sangheili clan on Halo: Reach (Xbox 360 based, but One players are welcomed as well). We're a small, newly developed clan looking for serious members. Our Empress is a former ultra from the Fleet of Intent, a large clan that unfortunately fell due to rebellious leaders and a general revolt. The Empress wishes to form a new clan following similar rules and guidelines to her old clan. Though we may be small now, we hope to grow and prosper quickly as fresh members come in. The Fleet welcomes all, inexperienced or seasoned. Our current priorities include members interested in the position of council member, ranger class, and spec ops class. But as I said before, all are welcome. If interested, message Hibbly Heathen, Empress of the fleet, or yeahbuddy2526, Low Ultra Councilmen and primary recruiter.
  4. Welcome one and all to the SoJ recruitment page. We take our teachings from the UNSC but we use them in our own way. We welcome human and elites alike (we arent racist hue hue).So thats the introduction lets get down to business. Branches (Divisions, teams) Army, the army are your average foot soldiers, but with a bad attitude and kick ass trigger finger. In the army we have three sub-classes, MP, EoD and vehicular specialist. Mp is the military police when you are needed you use your shotgun and DMR to protect the games highest rank (unless you guys are having fun in custom games). EoD is the Eplosixes expert using heavy weapons to thier advantage to turn the tides of battle in our favour. Vehicular specialist or VS squad is a group very self explanatory they use vehicles to pick up troops, splatter enemies and help fortify bases Marines, these men are raid specialists eight man teams form in this branch these teams are used to raid and help allies. Rangers, the ranger subclass need to know how to climb mountains to get a good eye on the battlefield these soldiers use precision weapons to thier advantage. Brachers, these men fight thier way to the entrance of bases using shotguns and energy swords to dispatch their foes these men also breach bases in advance so the leaders can enter safely. Leadership, these men are leaders in training use thier whit to make plans to take bases or to help the RIDA (you will find out about RIDA once you join) these men also take over training sessions when the trainers have to go. Airforce, airforce use flight to thier advantage, taking control of the sky is a big part of raids. Pilot, using flight to pickup or kill these men will be trained to best dodge explosives and other abstract things Gunners, gunners will have jetpacks and know how to hell jump using the falcon turrets to help get troops past enemy lines. Engineer, these men call out flight using vehicles to pilots and then either help in the sky or take the battle to the ground. We also have a few branches you need to be hand chosen to join i will list them below Gādo, this isnt a branch but i will explain the Gādo only come into use if a RIDA joins they turn into security at that point keeping an eye out for enemies foriegn and domestic. Shadow hunters, we use these men to gather information using contacts to thier advantage Berserkers, are non cannon spartans with only four month conscription theyre not spartans but trained as they where obviously not fully or i might break one of UNSC's many rules Ghosts, only the knowledge that they exist isnt classified RIDA, we are the leaders of the clan we will have RIDA in our service tag to show we lead Before you can join any branch you need to be a recruit, not being a full member of the clan yet we put you through training to see where you will be most best suited. then comes alignment where we put you through spartan level training to weed out the ones not dedicated. We then recommend a branch for you to join but you can go against our recommended choice if you dont feel we chose right (kinda like divergent sorry im excited). If you want to join please contact these gamertags Tom20Cole 1st in command SoulSniperS059 2nd in command TheNnjaway 3rd in command If you have trouble with that contact either Our silver tag account: SoJ Clan Our E-mail: [email protected] Thank you for reading this See you on the battlefield soldier My bad sorry if you want to become allies please contact the same gamertags ECT.

  6. Did you always wanted to know what your name would sound like in Sangheili? Well, this topic will inform you how to know your name in Sangheili! The steps are pretty simple, all you've got to do is write in this topic if you want to know your Sangheili name. You may inform me your real name to turn it to Sangheili. If you don't, I will use the name that you use in the forum! An example of a name turned into Sangheili is my own. That's it for now! I'd love to have something to do. If I don't reply to you so soon it's probably because my vacations are finished, or I'm having some issues on transforming your name into Sangheili name! The following text is not necessary to read, but if you want to, you may read it! Some people asked me how that I knew their names in Sangheili. Well, my answer is that I have been researching the formation of Sangheili names for some time. It was kind of difficult, but I managed to be able to transform almost any name into sangheili! I might have some issues into transforming names with numbers on them, but I'll try my best!

  8. Order of the New Atlas (ONA) is a sangheili clan based on the masterchief collection. We are hoping to raise up a formidable army much like our last on Reach. People joining this clan should expect strict leadership. ONA is a convalescent institute for players looking to build their skill. We see small custom games as a waste of our time (what you do with your time is your business while in the clan, do not expect clan time to go towards meaningless customs). Please don't contact us if... -You insist on yelling through your headset, at us or people around you. -You are younger than 13 (13 is still stretching it by our standards, be mature). -You can't speak English (pretty impressive if you could read this far). -You don't have a mic. -You are not willing to change your armor or emblem. -You will run off at the first sight of disciplin. Training is pretty straight forward. -team building skills and exercises. -BR skill building. -callout classes -advanced weopon training Send messages (xbox) to myself, Apex Arbiter, or imsupercooLL if you have questions or want to join.
  9. Hello everyone! My name is Big Mike, and I absolutely love playing Swat, as you can tell by my name. First off, have you ever been sick and tired of losing game after game because not you, but your teammate(s) kept dying off?! Well, I have the same issue and that's why I came to 343 today to find some help! I'm looking to start up an ELITE Swat Clan/Team. I want very good players that average at least 20 kills plus, per game. I will start creating the clan with players that respond here obviously and will be searching for other Elite players elsewhere as well. Once we have a solid number of recruits, we can hold a couple games to see who is the most advanced, then making 2 teams, equally talented. And if we have a massive amount of turnouts, we can have 1 Top Elite, and 2 Mid-Elite Squads. My goal is to first of all, meet new, better Swat players to have fun. Secondly, to demolish every single game as an Elite Swat group. Of course, if you don't get on the Top Elite Squad, you can ask to match anyone at that time and then you 2 can go 1v1. I want to give equal rights to everyone inside the clan to be the best player they can be. Also, I will be helping ANY players within the Squad who needs and wants help. This will include a couple Elite players of the Top Team, including myself, to help you with Spawns and Callouts. Once we establish a nice array of people, the tryouts and Team Placements can begin. I hate to sound rude or cruel, but please be a very strong Elite Swat player in Halo 4 to join this Clan. I want this clan to be recognized within the Halo 4 Swat Community and every time they see our uniforms and service tags, they'll get scared. REQUIREMENTS: The only requirements that I do have for the clan, is: 1: Be a very Elite Swat player, average at least 20 kills a game. 2: Have a microphone to help with Callouts within the game. 3: Be respectful. 4: Have as much fun as possible. 5: If you are a Top Elite team member and a lower team member asks for assistance, please help them out. 6. Have as much fun as possible. Thank you for all that have read this post! Please post here to join my Elite Swat Squad! P.S.! I almost forgot, when we have the Elite Top Team created, we will be having an open discussion for what the clan name can be, and what emblems/service tags we will be wearing. Also, a uniform if needed. Thanks again! Big Mike.
  10. Do you really want to spend the next two games playing as Team Crimson and let Majestic get all the great cutscenes? No, probably not - and neither do I. So how's about some diversity? Elite Ops? ODST Ops? All three? Definitely! Here I will explain how it will all go down, along with some touch ups on other things and ideas. In this thread I will include: - Arbiter's spot in campaign - Elite/ODST/Spartan Ops - ODSTs and Elites in multiplayer - Covenant Separatist immersion to Halo 5 - Canon characters in Ops missions - Cutscenes - Warfronts game variant (Firefight replacement) Spartan/ODST/Elite Ops In depth details: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/26808-spartaneliteodst-ops-in-depth-details/ So Halo 5 is supposedly the darkest of the Halo games, and it's up to us to make sure that it keeps that title. So let's break down what threats could possibly lie ahead. Dr. Halsey and Jul M'Dama have part of an artifact that can map all forerunner technology out there. In other words the halo rings have all been compromised. That's more flood in our sense, and who knows if the other oracles went rampant over the years. So that's Jul M'Dama, Dr. Halsey, the flood, sentinels, and the other oracles. On top of all this there are other rogue Covenant fleets out there who like to get involved in such things, and not to mention the prophets may have a part in what will come about in the future. That also means more brutes, whether be wild and barbaric or still guarding hidden prophets. According to the wiki the prophets seemingly just disappeared, hint hint. 1) Jul M'Dama 2) Dr. Halsey 3) Halo rings 4) Flood 5) Sentinels/Oracles 6) Covenant 7) Prophets/Brutes Wow. So Chief is most likely on Earth living in retirement, still hoping for a chance to see Cortana. Oh btw, did some fans out there speculate that the Didact still lives? Of course this is just a possibility, and the Promethean homeworld Requiem no longer exists, but; Cortana 9) Didact/Prometheans And whoever these guys are; 10) Precursors All these are likely to happen in Halo 5. What do we do now? Look up to the prophets, should they return? Form a truce (the enemy of my enemy is my friend)? Or is everything going to clash together in Halo 6? Or a better idea; start the Great Journey (if you know what I mean). This thread probably didn't need all of that listed, but they are reasons why my first idea (aka everyone's idea) is to allow the Arbiter to have a spot in Halo 5's campaign. Perhaps even a mission (at least one) dedicated to the Arbiter. Maybe the first mission would be satisfying, considering he'd get involved with the events before Chief does. ______________ Elite Ops/ODST Ops/Spartan Ops (I wouldn't exactly call it Elite and ODST Ops, but rather ODST-something and Separatist-something or Elite-something) These campaigns would probably make Halo 5 FAR superior than Halo 4 and maybe even Halo 6. Basically you have three separated campaigns where you get to control as your Spartan, ODST or Elite in their own missions across the galaxy. They each have their own stories. And here's a little twist I'd add in if I were 343 adding this to the game; Halo is known for super epic last missions right? How's about the three Ops campaigns would have the last mission or episodes converge together. So you can fight alongside Crimson with your ODST or Elite characters, and your friends might like to be a different character. Wouldn't that be epic?! This trend would also continue through Halo 6 if everyone likes it, kinda like the warthog thing with Chief. Here is a more recent thread dedicated to just Elite/ODST/Spartan Ops and its technical matters: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/26808-spartaneliteodst-ops-in-depth-details/ ODSTs and Elites in Multiplayer Everyone wants this to happen, I know. And it's pretty straight forward. I'm going to leave it up to the community to decide what armors they could use, but we'd all agree that they'd get just as much customization as Spartans do. ODST armour would likely be as follows; - Helmet (option to take off?) - Helmet attachments - Face options - Shoulders - Chest - Knees - Miscellaneous - Visors Not everyone wants to be a superhuman, so ODST sizes are generally smaller than the average Spartan. In multiplayer, they would have the same health as Spartans and Elites, but their sprint would be much more within human grasp. They are much slower with the sprint. However, they would get the visor upgrade from Halo 3: ODST, likely with a daytime and night version. Possibly on the down and right arrows on the d-pad, unless customized. There would be uses for the night visor in dark maps and maybe one or two Ops missions. The daytime version would help for general use. If 343 can't seem to make a daytime version, then that should be fine. Elite armour would likely be as follows; - Helmet (option for none?) - Helmet attachments? - Shoulders - Chest - Knees - Miscellaneous - Back attachments/armour? Elites would be just about equivalent to Spartan gameplay, however they would possibly have something distinct about them. And maybe their jetpacks would have different meshes than the humans'. Or maybe a totally different item added to the game (Covenant jetpack). Separatist Immersion to Halo 5 You know how you can change the colour of your mongoose for races right? Well since the Covenant Separatists are a different form of Covenant, that would include colour variants for Covenant vehicles. In Halo 3 their phantoms were green to represent allies to the player. That was in a dire and quick situation to move away from the Covenant and not confuse the humans too much. It's been over 4 years since that, and the community and 343 has the chance to make their colours more distinct (and cool-looking too). Maybe they could have developed their own new vehicle over the years? The Separatists are not an intimidating group of Covenant, so the grunts and elites need not to have what we've seen in normal Covenant. Well, these guys are the normal ones. So here is a brief list of what should be done for fan input to make the Separatist a rather epic group of people; - Grunt/Hunter/Elite distinct armour redesigns and variants - Distinct vehicle redesigns - Perhaps a brand new vehicle added in - Distinct weapon skins/designs There is a thread about Bocaj1000's reaper design, and maybe we could elaborate/debate on that (if 343 hasn't already done so). When Halo 4 was about to come out, I made a thread suggesting how a grunt would look for the Separatists. I took the Heretic designs and sort of made it look like an ODST-like grunt. The Separatists don't treat their grunts as "canon fodder", so those who are on the field are actual specialists with their weapon of choice. The rest just deal with work elsewhere, or become citizens on planets (imagining a grunt bartender on Earth lol). Most would be trained to fight. In my design I made sure that a grunt's methane tank was more light on their backs, designed so they can once again freely climb trees and such with no hauling of a 40 pound tank wherever they go. The new design makes the tank feel more like a backpack with just a thin binder inside. Their breather is also designed to allow their face to fully show for expressions they wish to make. The grunt in my design just so happened to a human-like hat to give him more of a personality, because he is a soldier - and his head wouldn't look as bare. But if a grunt is stationed for space or requires more armour, they would have helmets and such on them. Maybe the Separatist grunt would have pants? And sleeves and shirts? But under their armour. I wouldn't give the average grunt some shoes though, because they like to have their feet to climb and grip. Also keep in mind that Separatist grunts are more focused with the plan, seeing that the ones that fight with you are more specialized for their position. The Reaper: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/24123-the-reaper-the-covenant-mantis/ The Grunt (there are loopholes in this thread's lore. I will recopy their pictures and weapon loadouts here): https://forums.halowaypoint.com//yaf_postst104677_Halo-4--The-Arbiter-s-Grunts--Separatists.aspx The Separatist grunt pictures: Heretic grunt overlay - http://i49.tinypic.com/rbxl40.jpg Halo 4 grunt overlay - http://i47.tinypic.com/cuvj5.jpg Infantry Battle: Carbine/Needler/Plasma Rifle? (new weapon designed for automatic rifles for grunts?) Infantry Heavy: Fuel Rod/Needler Scout: Beam Rifle/Needler Those grunts will be happy to hunt down some Kig-Yar. There would probably be approximately two variants for a grunt's armour for each type of fighter; be infantry, scout, piloting a vehicle, or handling a turret. If I were 343 I'd make two for infantry battle, one for heavy, two for scout, one for turret, and one for pilot. If there are any grunt citizens in Halo 5 there would be variants for them, as well. Ops Canon Characters Or should I say, Separatist canon characters. This is to avoid your team completely missing out on the cutscenes, and not even be able to fight with your favourite characters. This idea for Halo 5 fixes that. In Elite and/or ODST Ops, there could be some Separatist characters - likable - and with cool personalities. For example, your Elite team may spend more than a few missions fighting with these two hunters. It's been a long time since we've seen a hunter ally in Halo. The players would love this. And remember that these guys are canon, so they have a role in the plot. And for the ODSTs I was planning on introducing a squad leader. A player can't exactly take this position, and it would be better for cutscenes. Therefore in ODST Ops there could be one or two NPC characters in your squad. But that is up to the community to decide. An Ops team in Halo is meant to be player driven. But if you'd like to fight with an NPC in your own squad that would be nice. Two teams could be fighting on the same mission as well, just as much that the last mission or episode would join the three Ops campaigns. It would definitely help for NPCs having a more local voice with the situations. Oh and, some likable grunts deserve a spot in Halo 5. These canon characters all should be given names. Your ODST squad may come with relations with another squad for cutscene appearance and such. However, the Halo 5 storyline might say otherwise. Ops Cutscenes Would you prefer the Halo Reach approach, or the Halo 4 approach? Awesome graphics are great, but they aren't a necessity to us. Does anyone agree with me that the Halo 4 cutscenes should be for campaign, and only the beginning and the end of the Ops stories (the very beginning and ends)? That way the player's team would have the Halo Reach approach between missions. Placement of your friends may be a complication for the cutscenes, but maybe they could have a silent role or not appear in the cutscenes. ***OR*** Based on the voice the player chose while customizing their character, that would be the voice actor for their cutscenes. And whether you are player 1, 2, 3 or 4 would decide whether you'd be the player leaning on the railing looking at the view, or the one who is discussing what to do in the next mission with the other player, while your commander is in the hologram communicator. This would allow an infinite possibilities of how your player interacts with the players in the cutscenes. Now you don't need an NPC to be your squad leader - however one would be great, and your Elite team would be able to interact with the shipmaster and perhaps those hunters you made friends with in the previous mission. Warfronts Here's something different for Halo. When I thought of this idea I was immediately reminded of Star Wars Battlefront. Remember those PS2 games that had SO much success with their game types, and then just suddenly disappeared when the PS3 came out? It's been a long time since we've had a taste of a battlefront (Battlefield's territory game type is similar, but just isn't the same). What Warfronts offer is like a territory game type, but with more twists to it. Firefight was during the time when humanity was being hunted down for extinction, and waves of Covenant would be sent in until all humans are dead. That time is over. Now when there is a fight going on we take control. I find it really hard to explain this in this thread, it's much more developed in my head lol. But a stage would be divided into 5 or 7 sections. The player would have to eliminate the enemies in a section and take over the territory, before taking control. Once that base is yours, based on how long you've been holding that section you will be provided with more tools to help you along the way. Halo games have the tendency to generate epic experiences by having UNSC ships and pelicans dropping off warthogs and even scorpians to aid you with what lies ahead. In Halo 3 when Forward Unto Dawn came in with the scorpians it was epic. Yes, I keep using the word epic. Editing the Warfront You can choose whether you want to fight alongside Covenant Separatists or the UNSC. You can also choose which faction you and your friends can fight against. Enemies would be Covenant Loyalists or Brutes/Prometheans/Flood if they are in Halo 5. Based on the faction you face the way they provide aid for their teams would be different. For example, Covenant Loyalists would have anti-air turrets and phantoms giving support, while flood can only provide infantry. Brutes would be able to provide choppers and prowlers, but no Covenant vehicles or turrets. Prometheans can also only provide infantry. Maps Maps would be different than the average multiplayer map. These ones are more objective related and have larger areas. They are not able to be edited in Forge, but they can be edited through settings. There could be one map made exclusively for each faction you face, like a flood map made for facing flood. Calling in Support Once you take over the middle territory you will be given a(or some) scorpian or some Separatist wraiths and some other vehicles. They also come with more reinforcements. Enemies do the same. Midpoint reinforcement: UNSC - 2 scorpians, 2 warthogs, 5 infantry. Covenant Separatists - 2 wraiths, 2 ghosts, 5 infantry. Covenant Loyalists - 2 wraiths, 3 ghosts, 2 squads of infantry. Brutes - +5 infantry at home section. Flood - +10 infantry at home section. Prometheans - +5 infantry at home section. Limits There are limits as to how many of what can be fighting at one time: Pelicans/Phantoms - 2 Scorpians - 3 (+2 after midpoint) Wraiths - 6 (+2 after midpoint) Ghosts - 10 (+2 after midpoint) Warthogs - 6 (+2 after midpoint) Banshees - 10 Hornets - 4 (+1 after midpoint) Infantry - 25 (+5 after midpoint) (players don't count) Choppers - 4 (+2 after midpoint) Prowlers - 2 (+2 after midpoint) When you call in support, you can call in certain things based on how long you've been holding a certain section of the warfront. If you meet the requirements at a certain section, you can (kind of) buy the support you require to spawn via drop off at that place. Times required: Pelican/Phantom - 5 minutes Scorpian (+ infantry) - 10 minutes Wraith (+ infantry) - 7 minutes Ghost (+ infantry) - 5 minutes Warthog (+ infantry) - 5 minutes Banshee(x2) - 5 minutes Hornet(x2) - 5 minutes Infantry - 2 minutes Spawn at start: 1 Pelican/Phantom 1 Scorpians/2 Wraiths 2 Warthogs/3 Ghosts 2 Hornets/2 Banshees 10 Infantry Lasting Stand If a home (spawn) base is the last one left and is under attack, then they will be continuously sending in reinforcements until you have taken over their base and eliminated all of their spawn. Brutes do not do this because they don't have a huge army. Turrets spawn in enemy bases at the start of the match, and they own all but the first and second sections at the start. Covenant Loyalists have two spots for anti-air cannons at the home base. The player's team does not. Oh and, you can control as Spartan, ODST and Elite regardless if you are fighting with the Separatists or the UNSC. The time limit is unlimited until someone wins. Ops NPCs After reading this a few times and researching a bit I've decided to make this a section for the thread. By Ops NPCs I mean teammates within your team. For example, what if you never played as Crimson in Halo 5 and you'd have a different fireteam that has an NPC or two in it. Elite Ops would probably have an episodic way of who you're fighting with. One mission you're with a squad with grunts and hunters and an elite, the next you're with a skilled elite. The next maybe with hunters and probably alone after that. ODST is controversial to me. The squad could have a leader NPC and maybe a second character, but it wouldn't feel the same as being in charge of your own mission. Here's a short list of canon characters to add to Ops missions: - 1 ODST leader (optional) - 2 ODST members (optional) - Entire squad to fight alongside with (optional) - Two hunters - Some canon grunts - A few elites to fight with - The shipmaster (and others on board) - Another recognizable fireteam of spartans Now let's put all the good things together from this thread, based on if they are good. The video animated cutscenes would be made for campaign exclusively, with the first and last videos of the Ops campaigns being videos, too. Then there would be another ODST squad to fight with and see in a few cutscenes. There now we don't need NPCs in your squad. Your elite team will fight with two hunter characters, a few grunts and also some elites. Each will have names and recognizable personalities. If Chief is with Separatists in campaign then some of them will be characters, too. And based on which player is 1, 2, 3 or 4 (and which voice they chose for their characters) will decide who does what in the cutscenes - and maybe decide who the squad leader is. Oh and shall we add a few marine canon characters out there (meet with them in the midst of a level)? Maybe just one mission in campaign or ODST Ops. 343 wants to expand the universe with recognizable characters, so this is a great start. So with the above paragraph here is the revised list of characters: - The players - An ODST squad - A marine squad - 2-5 elites - A spartan fireteam - Two hunters - Some grunts - Elite Ops shipmaster - Some elites, grunts, and a hunter or two for Arbiter and possibly Chief to fight with in campaign (mostly elites). It would be great if the community debated if we should have NPCs in our Ops teams. Just a yes or no would help. And that's that. I think. Ask questions if you'd like I'd be happy to answer them. _______ Questions to answer in the comments: Should Warfronts come with space battles? (Covenant Loyalist battles only) Should there be any new vehicles for Halo 5? As in brand new? Should there be any Separatist allies in campaign? If so, should Chief be fighting alongside Separatist grunts and hunters, too? Should the Arbiter be giving out missions in Elite Ops? Or should it be a shipmaster? If so, should the Arbiter have at least a voice in Elite Ops? Should Sanghelios appear in Halo 5? Help spread the word of this forum topic! It would greatly be helpful for making it successful if you want these ideas to be a part of Halo 5!
  11. Have you ever had your Xbox 360 Elite overheat even though it has a built in cooling system?
  12. Lets say a grunt sat down at a table, and doesn't blow it up, and asked you for some food, what would it be? What do you think is a grunts favorite food?
  13. I think the Elites can be balanced without being identical to the S-IVs without them being the same in terms of size, stance, and hitboxes. To balance the Elites' larger size (which makes them a larger target), I think they should be given a slightly faster movement speed/jump height and slightly stronger shields (not strong enough to warrant an extra BR burst, but merely a few AR rounds worth). The difference in stature (the Elites' hunched-over physique) does make them harder to get a headshot on from behind, but there are two factors that balance this out, in my opinion: the Elite player can't shoot at you at all when facing away from you, and the head itself is larger in size (both length and width), and so is a bit more susceptible to headshots from the side. As for how to approach loadouts for Spartans and Elites, I can actually agree that they should be able to use any of their primary/secondary weapons (although I would probably match my player model with my weapons anyways, I don't suppose there's a reason to limit players on balanced choices being used interchangeably). While I initially felt that this list should be comprised of the AR, Storm Rifle, BR, Carbine, DMR, and Needle Rifle as primaries, perhaps it would be better for gameplay purposes to limit the DMR and Needle Rifle to 'on-map-weapon' status. That would allow a few players to possess these longer-ranged primaries, but with more limited ammo (as they couldn't pick up ammo from dead players unless they also had them). Maybe loadouts should include the choice between Spartan or Elite, rather than making the player model consistent throughout all loadouts? As for the secondary weapons, I hope that we can all agree that the Plasma Pistol doesn't belong in loadouts, as it makes loadouts enable and encourage the N00B Combos and makes vehicles much less effective than in previous games. To take its place, I'd like to see a Needle Pistol (essentially a sidearm that operates similarly to the Needle Rifle, but balanced to be a counterpart to the Magnum). Then, we could also have the SMG and Plasma Rifle as secondary options. I don't see much of a problem with allowing Plasma Grenades in loadouts, so long as they are truly balanced with the Frags. I think Frags should do more damage to compensate for not having the "adhesive" factor that Plasma Grenades have. Combine that with the age-old differences like the bouncing physics and detonation times (again, in a balanced way), and MAYBE limit the grenade count at spawn to 1 to prevent "2-sticking" vehicles and decrease grenade-spamming in general (while allowing the 'Resupply' ability to return to base player traits). As for this customization option's place in Matchmaking, I'd like to see it acceptable in the "competitive" scene, but realize that that's being very hopeful no matter how balanced the differences are. Maybe in the competitive group of playlists (assuming/hoping there will be one), there could be a Spartans vs. Elites (SvE) playlist that would allow two rounds in a match, giving players a round each as the different species. This playlist could range from simple SvE Slayer to more objective-based gametypes, including Invasion.
  14. So, I don't know if any of you noticed, but Halo 4 was resembling Halo: CE. Why? Simple: -Only 4 Covenant species -No playable Sangheili -No dual-wielding See? 343i made Halo 4 to feel somewhat like Halo CE. If 343i is planning on doing something like "making Halo 5 feel like Halo 2", they would include... -More Covenant Species (not necessarily Brutes) -PLAYABLE Sangheili -Dual-wielding This would be something I'm expecting for Halo 5. Also, if you look back to Halo CE campaign and compare it to Halo 4's... -Both have a "run" -Halo CE: Warthog run -Halo 4: Ghost run -A new threat is introduced as the campaign progresses -CE: The Flood -4: Prometheans -Master Chief wakes up inside a Cryo-tube -You are often by yourself -Sangheili look bulky, capable of snapping somebody's neck effortlessly -In the end, Master Chief supposedly destroys a key object/character -CE: Halo, Installation 04 -4: The Didact -After this, MC is left alone in space -CE: MC floats around space in a ship with only Cortana by his side, awaiting rescue -4: MC floats around space without anything, without Cortana, but is eventually rescued by Infinity What do you Brothers think?
  15. Taken from my previous thread introducing Elite and ODST Ops; http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/26508-elites-odsts-warfronts-and-other-ideas/ This version has more details than the other, and is more developed. The flaws are recognized and I hope to get more fixed if there are any. I noticed that when you are in the cutscenes with your character you are given a fixed personality. The point of being your own character is having your own story. So I worked around that to still allow for the player(s) to be integrated into the cutscenes of their Ops missions. While customizing your character you can choose which voice you want. At the launch of Halo 5 there would likely be 5 voices per race per gender. That's 30 voice actors in all. Others may be unlocked or DLC. How this breaks down for Ops missions is that the voice you use also determines the personality of that character. In the previous thread you would be placed in the cutscene based on which player you are. Player 1 would be talking to player 2, and both would be discussing things with the shipmaster, while player 3 would be standing aside, possibly looking at the view. Luckily with this thread added to it, the dialogue would be enhanced with your character's voice. Each race would be given 5 voices: - 2 cool personalities - 1 leader personality - 1 bad@ss personality - 1 other This shapes the dialogue to what your character says during each moment. Let's say player 3 approaches player 4 about said discussion. Player 3 has one of the cool character voices for his ODST. It kind of resembles a comic relief character. Although, player 4 chose to use the bad@ss personality. Player 3 mentions stuff about having a dog. Player 4 just doesn't care. However, if player 4 used a cool personality too (maybe the same one lol, who cares), then the conversation would continue. This adds a lot of variables to a mission's coding, but it's worth it. You could be playing the mission with your friends and the same moment would feel ENTIRELY different had you done it yourself. And there are more variables if you choose to fight with 1 player or with 2/3/4 players. Player 3 and 4's conversation wouldn't even exist if you play solo. And I have a feeling that the new xbox is going to allow for 6 players to be playing online together in Ops missions. I doubt that, but I think it's going to be an upgrade. So that means 4 different cutscene possibilities, with 30 different conversation scripts per character per role per cutscene, with up to 4 roles per cutscene. How many possibilities is that? If the new xbox does support 6 player campaigns then that's 2 more cutscene possibilities entirely added to the list. Not to mention, you need the interaction variables, that say; player 4 doesn't say anything about dogs, player 3 wouldn't be saying "I know right!" after that. Who says "I know right?!" after not even getting a response? Sergeant, you're drunk. Go home. I can't even begin the math of the whole thing, but with the interactions that's like 4 times more than what is said above. It looks like 343 will have to get their actors to voice each starting line, with their conversation going into 30 different ways. If someone else interacts later in the cutscene (or a new event happens) then that goes into 30 more directions. But the acting's the easy part. It's just a lot of work. But keep in mind that 30 stands for all Spartans, ODSTs and Elites. There would be 30 different variables during the last mission or episode. On a regular basis you'd have 5 different voices for each race per gender. That's 10 different possibilities for each interaction within each cutscene. So that means this: 343 will have to get their actors to voice each starting line, with their conversation going into 10 different ways. If someone else interacts later in the cutscene (or a new event happens) then that goes into 10 more directions. This will be done for each campaign for Spartan Ops, Elite Ops and ODST Ops. There, that doesn't seem so bad. ________________________________________ Now for the other stuff. Ops missions intertwine during the last mission or episode. This would create an ultimate experience for the players who like to use their different characters in all three of the stories. But what about the stories? When do they take place? Personally, I wasn't fond that Spartan Ops took place 6 months after Halo 4's campaign. It was good, but that should NOT be the case for Halo 5. If the flood arise, where's the biggest threat coming from? If the flood return, human-covenant warfare halts in all events involving the flood. Why would Infinity and a bunch of ODSTs be focusing on putting the Covenant to justice when their existence is being threatened again? Six months after the campaign isn't great for that. Humans and Covenant wouldn't be fighting each other at that time. The flood would be at an amazingly high advantage by that time. The whole campaign would have to be flood, which isn't a Halo game. That's a flood game. So for the sake of what I just mentioned, Ops campaigns should be happening from multiple perspectives along with the campaign. In the previous thread I mentioned that it would be a good idea to have the first campaign level be focused on the Arbiter being threatened, resulting in the events of the game starting. Then it moves on to Chief. Elite Ops would start directly after that first level, with your group being introduced and the players would be introduced to the shipmaster and all that stuff. Away you go on your missions. ODSTs would start from an alternate beginning that doesn't involve the canonical events at all. They could be doing something else entirely, until you start operating alongside the background of Chief's missions. This improves the first release of the flood again. Each campaign (all 4) would have the player experience each first strike - which is usually the worst time, which is good for the game. Let's say the Elite Ops first mission starts somewhat close to the Arbiter's campaign story, and branches off for a few missions. This way you can alternate from canonical events to just arresting (or hunting) brute terrorists or protecting territories or homelands. Then the flood come about and your shipmaster is ordered by Thel 'Vadam to aid in urgent matters. You join in the main events once again. The ODST storyline could go into two different directions, one could be like the Elites' storyline by being elsewhere when the flood is released, or your ODST squad could already by stationed on the same mission when the flood are released. Assuming that Jul M'Dama will be involved with the release of the flood, your squad could be taking part in Jul M'Dama missions by that time. Infinity's Spartan fireteams will have front row seats to the release of the flood, no question about that. That is, if Jul M'Dama is involved. As far as the ODST squad storyline goes, it could be offensive or defensive - but most of all, tactical. Storm Covenant in Halo 4 seemed to be defensive as a whole, but offensive through opportunity. They don't seem to be threatening humanity since following Halo 3, but things could go wrong every now and then. Your ODST squad would be sent on practical missions that aren't usually offensive, but have a real purpose. I don't have any ideas for this, but I can assure you that players would like to have this kind of experience once again. Offensive missions could be trying to recover some forerunner technology that is guarded by Covenant. Defensive missions could be you guarding the forerunner artifact. Perhaps the ODST storyline would have the oracle of said installation involved. I'm sure there would be missions around him/her. ____________ There is but one problem that still bugs me, and that is how other NPCs will call you names. In Halo 4 you are constantly being called Crimson, which works. However, your player will be involved in cutscenes (according to this thread). You will have to be called individually accordingly to the voice acting of the characters. I have three solutions to this problem (that might make Halo feel a bit different, but cool anyway): - You can use codenames that are customizable for your character. (Different for each race) - Your ranks will be used to describe your name. - Actual names (or last names) that are also customizable for your character. (Different for each race) With a codename you will be called a certain name when someone's line mentions the player's name. This will again add many variables to the dialogues of the cutscenes. It helps for calling players in the middle of the missions, though. Calling you by your rank would likely be more plausible and realistic. If a marine calls you over saying "Hey, Sergeant!" Then you can understand that they know you are a sergeant but not your name, and it would also be more proper to call you by your rank. Unfortunately, this is how cutscenes will work too. Although, your ODST and Elite team/squad could have a name by itself like Crimson does, but I doubt that would seem at all realistic. Your Spartan might need to be called upon as well, for realistic purposes. __________________ And that should be all. For now. Comments and debate plz!

  21. want to apply for the crimson aliance send a friend request to sammyboy1122 or adammite but make sure you have a vid of some general gameplay in file share and are under lvl(sr) 20
  22. Hey guys! I just wanted people who are really interested in the Halo universe that i've found something VERY interesting. I just read the first book of the forerunner saga: halo cryptum, and realised that the aliens are called the same things as what the elites call them. Somewhere in the halo wiki it says that the alien names are just what the elites call them. So... THE FORERUNNERS SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE AS THE ELITES!!!!! :0 Although one thing puzzles me... the forerunners wouldn't be able to copy the whole elite language because they don't have another 2 jaws. Unless.... the elites copied the forerunner language before they died out, and just added another part of the language to theirs. Who knows? Leave a comment on what you think and please leave a like! :)
