  1. Halo Infinite Here we'll be discussing all things Halo Infinite, and there's a lot to discuss. Now besides the first three quarters looking like a stunning nature documentary, Halo Infinite's announcement at Microsoft's 2018 E3 conference has left us with a lot of questions. Ok so lets start by assuming that this indeed is after the events Halo 5, because that's what 343 have implied so far. Does that make this game Halo 6? I was expecting two games to be revealed, Halo 6 and another (most likely FPS) Halo title. We got one short announcement, that has left us filled with awe, and confusion. I'm sure we're all really interested to hear more about Infinite, because so far things aren't clear at all, and all we can do is speculate. We're also assuming the Spartan seen at the end is John-117. Now, two things that stand out about John are that 1) he's in Mk VI MJOLNIR armour and 2) he slots in an AI chip. Another interesting things to note, is that they're clearly on a Halo ring, with pulsing structures that resemble those seen on Installation 04 in Halo: Combat Evolved. The way I see it, there are three possibilities: 1) This is not canon footage. This is just a way to demo the new 'Slipspace' gaming engine for future Halo games. Halo Infinite is to be the first Halo title utilising this engine, and this announcement is basically a hype/flex by 343. A very good one, it is. There may be no canon story in that footage, none of what we say may actually be happening. John putting the AI in, might just be shown to induce hype and because it looks good. 2) This is actually GEN2 Mark VI armour, as seen in 5, but 343 are scrapping that visually modified version completely. This isn't ridiculous, because it's what they did from Halo 3 to 4, and people don't riot over it. I think the Halo 4 Mk VI helmet looks good as well, and it's not an artistic change, the helmet does actually look that way after Cortana used nanobot technology to repair and reform parts of the armour after Halo 3's ending. Maybe it now is an artistic change, and 343 are suggesting that the Halo 3's armour design was canonically the one seen in Halo 4 and 5, but they just displayed it differently for those two games. He could be wearing armour seen in Halo 5, with a repaired/new helmet, but 343 chose to go back to the previous art style (if this case is true, then they would be art styles and not actually different designs). 3) That is Mark VI GEN1 MJOLNIR, and there's a reason Chief is back in it. Better be a good one. There's also a reason for the AI being slotted into his helmet, either it's Cortana or another one he's using. Now, 3) is probably the most popular belief, as people are already trying to find explanations. I think 2), despite being possible, is unlikely, because it'll cause a lot of disagreement in the community. People will get confused, though it may work in the long run. Possibility 1) is kind of likely, this announcement may just be another E3 2013 teaser (see Site Poll 80). If I had to pick one, I'd say they'll go with case 3), but I'm really curious about explanations. We also have no idea about the nature of the game. What Installation is that? Where are they? Is this an FPS? Is it Halo 6? When's it set? Share your thoughts and questions, let me know which possibility you think is most likely, and if you're aware of any other likely possibility. Sorry for the quality, I did had a potato PC back then. Clip from Jan 23, 2014. This happen like 5 times to me. I was doing the story mission on blood gulch map (Episode 3 - Chapter 5). I don't no if Bungie was playing a joke, Easter egg or glitch but this was one of the best moments of my gaming life. Did this happen to any one?
  3. well i am a little fed up with microsofts xbox one stuff so i am moving to pc. I just thought it would be a good idea for halo 5 to be on pc as well as xbox. more money for 343 industries, but that is besides the point. if they added halo 5 to pc it would be returning to its roots in a way. Halo Combat Evolved was on pc as well as xbox. it may also be an alternative to having to get the xbox one if halo 5 is for xbox one and pc.

Known Issues: - When building the nav mesh with grass on the ground the bots don't know how to navigate (this is the most annoying one for forest maps, bots should just ignore blocks with no collision. - Sometimes working with the budget for light cache too close to the limit will not save the built light cache (this happened with a vegetation map I had to lower even more the light budget I had). - Initial camera will shake when a match starts unless you script it to move around. - Sometimes scripts don’t get properly loaded in a custom game even if they work at Forge mode (or the opposite). - Some particular blocks are glitchy (example: Structures > Cover > UNSC Half Cover), they may not scale properly and several copies of it can break the map. Make sure to check the budget at Map Settings and see if the static objects budget makes sense with the map you are working on. - Quickly saving the map twice right before leaving a Forge session may not save your progress at all, a workaround for it is going to version history and open the third last version of it. - Sometimes you just can’t publish a map, transferring the admin seems to solve the issue but the map will still be glitched with the original owner if he gets admin back (this may have something to do with a copy protection glitch). - Forge robot sometimes pick up weapons, if a weapon disappears or if you see your reticle changing then be aware of it, that weapon will respawn after some time. - Placing blocks too far away from origin or very big ones may cause serious performance issues to your session. - Some blocks that have applied normal physics to them may get duplicated when they get moved around (specially vehicles, weapons and fusion coils), it turns out that the object in the original position is just a ghost block and eventually it will disappear (I hope). - Some blocks that have applied normal physics to them may get duplicated when they get moved around (specially vehicles, weapons and fusion coils), it turns out that the object in the original position is just a ghost block and eventually it will disappear (I hope). - Some objects glitch out and can’t be selected nor deleted, sometimes they just act as the ghost blocks mentioned above but also they may stay there for a long period of time and even linger around after a couple of forge sessions. There is no easy workaround but after a couple of forge lobbies they may disappear. Sometimes you manage to delete them when placing another same block and going into object settings and selecting all similar blocks then deleting it (do it outside the map since instead of being able to delete the second block it also becomes a ghost block sometimes). - Placing glass blocks in front of each other will cause performance issues. - Having too many reflective objects will cause delays when placing and moving blocks while in forge mode. - You can’t undo when scaling objects or with other people at your forge lobby. - Some rocks if scaled too big can cause problems with collision and weird textures, make sure to place smaller ones near areas where the players are to patch it. - Prefabing several blocks together may cause different issues, if you duplicate it or undo the rotation or movement will cause the prefab to explode the smaller blocks into different rotation, scale and position, a work around for this is having the original prefab in a corner and trying to duplicating it a couple of times until you can get it right (there is a small delay when duplicating it), also remember to never ever undo anything you made with a big prefab (saving the original one may be a good idea). - Randomly some blocks may get weird collisions (even if they are flat), try to place invisible blockers to work around it.

  10. Hi there, I am a huge Halo-fan since the first game. As PC-Gamer, I had wait a long time, until I could play the games and I loved it. But there is one (two, to be honest) topic which always bothered me: Terminals, logs or how you call it. I do not know who at first had the idead to put collectibles into a game to stretch the time of playing. But it was a bad one in my eyes. They totally kill any immersion, if you search for them. Sure, you can play the game through and than search for them in the second run. But I want to know all elements of the story while playing and not learn it, when the storyline is over. My strategy in Halo is the same like in every game which has collectibles: Searching via google for a guide to find them and than collect them via playing. But as I said, it mostly kills the immersion, when you have a dramatic urgency and first of all you had to search the era for some info terminal, while you get a com-call to hurry. The terminals in Halo 3 were a joke. Honestly, in Halo 2 you had at least a short movie and in Halo 3: ODST you had an audio log, which was easy to find because of the hints. But in Halo 3, you had to read boring stuff and break your game with it. I have not played Halo 4 und Halo Infinite yet, but I read, that they also head terminals. Maybe some people love to search war zones for collectibles. But I do not. But I want to know the story in its deepth. To ask for removing the terminals from future games maybe would be presumptuous. But please, could you at least integrate them in a way, which does not break the immersion? Like unlocking them automatically after a mission so you can view them in the menu. Or just integrate them into the regulary path of the game like when you need to use a console to activate something, so that the data-terminal next to it. Our just integrate them into a regular cutscene, so that there is an option to learn more or keep playing. Something like that, which prevents me from searching empty levels, while they story is waiting for me. Collectibles are no fun, they are boring and annoying. Like open worlds. There was a time, where games do not had these unnecessary decorations. Halo CE was a good game and does not needed it. I played it serval times. If you want to stretch the time of playing, give as possibilities to solve things, achievements to unlock, smarter enemies... such things. But no scavanger hunt during dramatic storylines, where I as soldier had to desert and leave the mission to search for something. Tell a good story. Best regards.

  14. One of the most iconic weapons in the Halo Universe, possibly even gaming in general, is the Energy Sword. This wonderful weapon has been a fan favourite since it first appeared in Halo 2, and it has since become a staple of all Halo games since. Which iteration is your favourite? Why is it so? My favourite will always be Halo 2s energy sword. The colour combination, and the shape is just so perfect, and not square. It looks like it could cut through anything with the rounded blades which continues past the hilt several inches. A true piece of art and creativity. No other iteration surpasses it in my opinion.
  15. Early days, to be sure, but what are everyone's feelings on the show so far? Let alone to so fundamentally change the characters? And I am not (just) talking about the racial bending. "Gray will play Dr. Miranda Keyes, a brilliant UNSC Commander who is dedicated to understanding the technology, language and culture of the Covenant, but she’ll have to learn to navigate the politics of the UNSC to get what she wants." In the established canon Miranda is accept to Luna Officer Candidate School at age 16, graduates with honors then immediate requests active duty (because, you know, we are at war with the Covvies at this point). At what point in time would she of had time to go and get a Doctorate? There are programs where you can get a PHD while on active military duty, but at no point has it been mentioned that Miranda had one. "Sapani will play Captain Jacob Keyes, described a dedicated military man, a war hero and a caring father. He finds that working alongside his daughter and his ex-wife is usually the cause of conflict rather than comfort." Alongside daughter, ok, makes a little sense (maybe, but not really), but ex-wife? Jacob hadn't seen Halsey from years 2530 (ish) to 2552, 22 years. And then they were only together like a day. Halsey didn't see him again because he died on Halo. So how exactly does he work 'alongside' her? They are trying to somehow spin a story where in an galactic war for survival these three people are entwined? Jacob and Miranda have a good relationship but as far as I can tell they were both Bridge Crew on different ships in different fleets? Not a lot of opportunity for cooperation, at least not personally between them. Plus, they have been portrayed as African descent, which I don't really care about but why not just write two new characters? This portrayal seems to be completely different to anything established to the point where they are new characters, but then to change their race as well? For canon nerds it is definitely irritating. Makee "Murphy will play Makee, an orphaned human who was raised by the alien Covenant and shares their contempt for humanity" A new character written for the show. Is this a joke? Not only does it fundamentally undermine the entire goal of the Covenant Crusade (complete eradication), but it is pretty clique writing that has been done tonnes of time, and probably better. There are a few cases of humans and Covvies working together (Mona Lisa, The Rubble) but to be 'raised' by the Covvies? If this is the quality of writing for the show we can expect, we are gonna have a bad time. Side Notes If they don't have Steve Downes dubbing John-117's voice, then why even have the big MC in the show? Same kind of goes for Jen Taylor doing the voice, but I do think Natascha McElhone could be a cool mo-cap actor for Cortana, although I think Jen Taylor also would of been cool as I can envision both as her avatar. It would be cool if Natasha did Halsey, then Jen Taylor dubbed Cortana. Soren-066 played by Bokeem Woodbine could be cool, although if they are doing post augmentation (which they kind of have to), then Soren is all kinds of messed up? I guess they will go into what happens to him. Vannak-134 sounds lame. "serves as the defacto deputy to the Master Chief." What does that even mean? I get it couldn't be Fred yet, because he is still leading his own team, but Vannak? There are so many established S-IIs they could of used they wasted one of their spots on a sidekick for Chief? Put MF Jorge in as having served with MC before Noble Team. Would of been way cooler. Also, no casting for any Covvie characters as yet? Kind of disappointing. I honestly, and sincerely, hope the show will be good. Unfortunately Halo just hasn't got a good track record of having good video extended media (FUD, Legends, Nightfall, Fall of Reach). They have all fallen short of being satisfactory in almost any regard. They really need to have someone watching over the Extended Media as a whole and making sure everything lines up. They may not want to have to keep following the Canon from the 18 year old original books but Fall Of Reach (the book) continues to be one of the most popular of all the books, and is sold not only as add-on for the games but as just a very good sci-fi book in general.
  16. Halo Master Chief Collection has been released! Along with the release of Halo MCC has come a few bugs, glitches, and multiple other matchmaking issues. This has resulted in an over-abundance of threads asking for help- some of which are multiple threads with the same problem. To cut down on similar threads, and to hopefully get everyone the answers they need as soon as possible, we ask that you post any and all of your Halo: Master Chief Collection issues here.   18. The multiplayer progression system is still a brutal grind. Yes they made a small fix by each game only granting 50 points, but I feel like that's a bandaid on a wound that needs stitches. It doesn't provide incentive to win because you get the points regardless. I've play multiple games in quickplay and 1/4 games there was someone afk the whole game. If 343 implements a system to just kick them out then players will just rubber band their controllers. Also a whole progression system base around a battle pass is a terrible idea when coupled with the only real way to level it up is through challenges. That brings up another issue. People working on the challenges won't care about winning, just the challenges. Challenges should be a bonus to the main progression of playing well like how Halo Reach was designed. I finished all my weekly's for the first week and lost interest playing because there is no incentive to keep going until the next week. 343 if you see this please take all of this into great consideration and if any Halo fans noticed I missed anything feel free to add on.

Why does nobody play game modes properly? e.g. CTF I get the flag to our base literally a foot away from the scoring post and my team decide to run away from the flag to the other side of the map. Same with oddball, either my team or the other don't bother collecting the ball when its right in front of them and its safe, is there some sort of easy progression when you just go for kills or something? Just seems pointless playing at all, never had this problem anywhere near as bad in previous halo's, just curious if there is a valid reason e.g. high score multipliers for longer games?

  23. Took a while, but we've got some more news on the TV series. Announced in 2013, it got everyone hyped, however 2018 is the year all the dead hype resurrects. Here's what we have: 2020 premiere, early 2019 production: 2018's coming to an end, believe it or not, and as each day passes we're getting closer to the next year. Spielberg's series will begin production soon, and we'll see the first episode sometime in 2020, if all goes to plan. 10 Episodes for the first Season: I think this is a fair choice, 10 good-length episodes. A lot can be packed in, whilst keeping it all relevant. If the show isn't going so well (which I doubt), they'll be able to end it soon as well. Master Chief will be "a lead character": "a", so he may not be the only primary focus, but it's likely he will be. There were many theories before about what this could be about. Harvest, Reach, post-Human-Covenant War. Now we have a better idea of who will be involved, with John-117 taking centre stage. We'll have a few other big names working on the series, such as writers Rupert Wyatt and Kyle Killen. One of the best parts is that Showtime's CEO David Nevins has said the series is "futuristic, space-based science-fiction, it's not fantasy".
