Hello dude and dudette Spartan Avatars, Thank you for welcoming me into the community, I'm working hard to put together a new Youtube Channel dedicated to Halo 5 and I would greatly appreciate your support. My first "Episode" is premiering Dec. 7th at 2:20AM EST/11:20PM PST in juxtaposition with the next New Moon. Cryptic! Instead of recording my games like everyone else... my approach is a little more...Hollywood. Although real skill is still involved... I'm not the best Spartan, but I play with style and I have a ton of MOMENTS. Actually, you probably do too, there is so much art to be found from every single game anyone's ever played and I have unique content coming soon featuring multi-angle gameplay music videos. I swear I've gotten so lucky with what other Spartan's, you guys and girls, are doing in the background for my videos. The synchronicities are astounding! Why not enjoy them to music in a cinematic style? I hope some of you will. If you're intrigued or even slightly curious you could really help me out by subscribing and/or giving me feedback on my coming soon videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoZa_RJ_9dDR5YzKu0-g1cQ/playlists?view_as=subscriber Thanks for your support! Boonshadow *I only meant to add that picture once, I couldn't figure out how to delete the first one. Episode 11 Pre-Edit ~ 58 captures!

Hi everyone, Spartan here with site poll #84. Last week we discussed whether Halo Infinite will be open-world or not, and there were some great points made by community members. Click here to view the last poll, #83. Do you want the REQ system to return? Halo 5's REQ system is controversial, that's for sure. Some love it, some hate it. Frank O'Connor said in an interview at the start of this year that the REQ system is "well-liked", which caused quite a stir considering how many people in the Halo community are opposed to it. The REQ system is something very new to Halo, who could have seen it coming? It's not a very unique idea, but it's something I would have never imagined coming to Halo. The main issue people have is that it can benefit users who have more money to spend on the game. Sure, there's no direct impact on your performance in Arena, but there can be in Warzone. I think the "unbalance" argument for the REQ system isn't a good one, because 343 integrated it really well and fairly. My problem is that it's boring, like really boring. Think Halo Reach's credit system, but you don't necessarily get what you want. I personally believe Halo 5's armour "unlocking" is the worst way in any Halo game out there. What if you just want this one set of armour, but the chances of you getting it depend on an RNG, and how many REQ points (or how much cash) you have to burn. What's your stance on the REQ system? Stances, those are something else you can only get randomly by an "RNG pack"... Let me know whether you want the REQ system to return or not, and why. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Spartan out.

I'm actually devastated by this revelation. It is a regular activity for me to get together with a friend to play Halo games. Tradition since 2004 on the old 'box. I know it means nothing, but I had to start an account just to voice my tremendous disappointment to 343 Industries. The MP (split screen experience... I don't use multiplayer features alone much) in Halo 4 was so great, my friends and I were super-excited for 5 to release - to get that experience on 'new gen'. MC collection just doesn't have a good MP experience in my opinion, so Guardians was going to be the revelation. I know, I know; I'm probably in the minority of players who want a gaming experience for more than one person in the home - but this is such a blow to my hobby, I can't fathom a developer doing such a disservice to a game's fan base. A game that I'd imagined was going to be a staple of my play time in a series that I've excitedly picked up on release day each and every iteration is now relegated to being just another shooter to experience then throw on the stack for trade-in. What a tremendous bummer. 343, you have crushed my fandom. ...you can tell I'm new; I double-tapped and posted this twice. Don't know how to get rid of the dupe. Sry for the noob-ery.

I don't know about any one else, but I would love to see the Brutes at least make some sort of appearance in Halo 5. I understand they are not at the numbers of what they were in previous halo titles, but none the less I would love to see a Chieftain with a gravity hammer go up against Promethean Knight. I understand some people are sick of Brutes and may not want them, but I think They are at least owed an appearance of some sort. Not just a cinematic scene either, but something physically in the game. I know the story might not allow for this but still would be cool in my book.

These are clips I scraped earlier from the Halo 5 Beta this past winter. I accumulated them together to produce this mini beta montage (took me about 2-3 hours to make). Editing was all done by me in Movie Maker.. so I know its nothing fancy. Clips are decent (Wish I could of played the Beta more & got some really good ones). Regardless, I hope you like the video and feel free to leave your opinions in the comments (critiques always help me out) & "Like" the video, thanks! P.S. The upcoming Xbox One shooter Halo 5: Guardians has had a host of new images reveal features and details of the highly hyped game! Recently, GameInformer.com posted a wealth of pictures revealing new details about the game, which you can find in a huge information dump provided by Self Destruct. Since this, new images have surfaced revealing a wealth of details about Halo 5: Guardians and it's story and features. For starters, the Covenant Remnant, a fanatic cult separated from the now broken Covenant order, will be returning in some old ways. Images show the genetically modified Jackals and Grunts looking mostly the same from Halo 4, however, the Elites have gotten a few changes to their armour and it's ranking as Zealots seem to now be white and green and much taller than typical spartans, likely due to their genetic modifications. View attachment: halo510.jpg Next up, Promethean weapons like the Boltshot, Suppressor, and Incineration Cannon are returning, with balancing changes but little aesthetic variance to date, coming from an anonymous source. Finally, a new cover has been released for Escalation issue 22 on HaloPedia.org which will launch on September 23rd and follow Spartan Palmer and others as they track down Halsey. This will be an official sequel to the story told in Spartan Ops. And finally, Spartan Jun's voice actor confirmed over Twitter.com he was not called back to voice his character, meaning an appearance by Jun is unlikely unless in cameo form, or maybe he's lying to us... Nah. View attachment: halo517.jpg Anyways that's all for now guys, below are a bunch of other pictures for you to look at showing off Spartan Tanaka for the first time in-game as well as Blue Team renders. Enjoy!

imthinkinarby's Suggestions for 343 Industries to Improve into Halo 5: Guardians. Hello Halo community! It is a pleasure to be writing for you all who enjoy the Halo franchise as much as I do. Please, 343i, take this into consideration if you are reading. Let's cut to the chase here, guys. As you know, the majority of this fanbase has agreed Halo 4 wasn't as good as previous games in the series; notably Halo 3 (My personal favourite). So I'm here to at least let 343i know of some issues that we as a body have not enjoyed in Halo 4 and long to see tweaked in Halo 5: Guardians. Today is the day before the Halo 5 beta, and I will keep this post updated on things I see that need to be improved. I need a weapon, and said weapon is not a weapon, but a lamp. And said lamp is a keyboard. Here we begin. First of all, one of the most obvious things bothering a few of us is no Elite customization character. Some players prefer the Elite model over the Spartan one, so that can be proves as a letdown to that section of the fanbase. Also, aspiring Machinima directors may want to use Elites in some of their films as they would want to make them the antagonists of said films. Some would call this sloppiness or even downright laziness. Another problem biting me in the *** right now (And arguably the most) is that the originally fun, arena based matchmaking maps have been degraded slightly to those of Call of Duty somewhat. This can be fixed by playing both Halo 3 and Halo 4. A vast majority (I would go as far to say 89%) of the fans prefer Halo 3's multiplayer. Try basing the multiplayer maps off of Halo 3 and give a slight 343i twist to it. Something else is story. Story in Halo 4 was satisfactory for me. But for many others it was a "catastrophe". I wouldn't go that far, but it could have been improved on. Maybe make the Chief go into hiding to be found by UNSC and ONI forces and use him to fight a Storm Covenant invasion force poised on Earth or take down a Promethean asset that is ready to strike Humans and Covenant alike. Or, possibly, make a return of the Flood and another Halo or something. Just random suggestions. And maybe a bit closer to the campaign of Halo Reach, yeah? Goodbye for now, all. I'll edit this post when I have played Halo 5: Guardians. Feel free to comment your suggestions on the topic. I am happy to hear any ideas. Cheers, imthinkingarby

Throughout my halo career I have delved into nearly every aspect of the games. I have vanquished covenant, silenced the flood, and conquered matchmaking. Now a new point has come, the weight of halo and it's responsibility lay on 343s shoulders. With this moment coming, I can only voice my opinion to the new parents of halo. My concerns are first laid upon the master chief collection. All bugs put aside, it shines bright in the collection of halo, however there are larger concerns. For example, custom games. I find it very difficult to connect with the community due to the games difficult setup. One feature in particular bothers me the most. This feature is the one that does not allow other players to join in a game in progress. Not only does this frustrate me, but it also grinds the gameplay to a halt whenever someone else wishes to join in the fun. This is a basic component to the game, and certainly lowers the value without it. Next is the upcoming title 'Halo 5: Guardians'. I am interested in the story of this game. 343 has done well in their campaigns so far, but yet again I am concerned for the multiplayer. Watching the gameplay I noticed many aspects that were questionable to the seasoned halo player. For instance, the automatic callouts during gameplay made me think the game was being dumbed down. Part of the competitive edge I enjoyed about having a team was being able to communicate exclusively. The tedious timing on weapon spawns gave a player the upper hand. However looking at this gameplay makes it look like there is little room to overcome your enemy in method. Halo 5 also concerns me in its customization. I myself have always found that halo has given the most expansive customization to its players, but looking into halo 5 it seems there will be less. I talk about the elite player models. I fear 343 will yet again forsake the elite choice as they did in halo 4. Having elites available open up many different opportunities. Machinamas, matchmaking games (invasion), or even a story connection, and if none of these, just basic preference. If you have successfully made it through my lengthy complaints, I thank you for listening. I only hope 343 will take my opinion into account, for there are many others like myself, one just needs to look. -Apex

So, recently we got to see a few sets of armor that you can earn in the Halo 5 Guardians Multi-player beta, but what is the difference between Mark VI and Mark VI Scarred? Here are the noticeable things... Mark VI (Normal Variant) And here we have the Mark VI Scarred Variant. One thing you can notice is the way the armor looks. We can see that some assets from the normal set are missing or changed in the Scarred version. But... We also notice that scarred has a cracked visor! Whether this brings an aesthetic effect to the table or not though is something I and quite eager to find out...

343 released a new video on their YouTube Channel regarding the episodic mini series Halo: Nightfall. So without further ado let's watch: Summary of info: Locke is the Commander of a special forces unit of ONI operatives. We hear that he already has (some) Spartan qualities, and his character will go through a decent amount of change from the beginning of the series to it's end, forming his character for Halo 5. We also see that the Covenant will play some sort of role as a Spirit drop ship and a few Elites are seen. The thing that really catches my eye is at 1:18 in the video, you see a mass of smaller life forms forming a silhouette of a human being, before breaking off each from each other and scuttling down the hill. At first glance I believed them to be flood infection forms, but whatever this is is much smaller then that. It is a high unknown. So what do you believe this life form to be? How does the series look so far to you? Let me know!

Putting aside whether or not we think sprint should be in the game, and putting aside whether or not we think it will be in the game, how would you guys react if Halo 5 Guardians didn't have sprint? Would you be unhappy but continue playing as normal? Would it actually worsen the experience to the point that you'd play significantly less? Would you play less campaign and more multiplayer?

Is anyone else hoping that in Halo 5 Guardians we play as a Spartan 2 across Campaign, Multiplayer, etc. What I mean by this is that later after halo 3 our size was decreased and we look very small and skinny (spartans). For proof if you compare your spartan driving a moongoose in halo 4 then in halo 3 or compare your height in which you see (proably a word for that) on the remake Ragnarok you can see the difference. This also is happening in the Halo 2 Anniversary as now you dont crouch to get on the mini turret. This might be me but I also think its the reason why our armor looks wierd plus the brightness of the spartans.

Here are my thoughts on Spartan Abilities based on what we know so far, and the ways in which I think they could be implemented. What do we know about Spartan Abilities so far? - They're not Armour Abilities. - They're not Armour related, but are things that Spartans can do inherently. In Halo 2, the new SAs would be dual-wielding and vehicle boarding. - Every player has the same set of Spartan Abilities http://teambeyond.net/forum/index.php?/topic/5709-frank-oconnor-confirms-armor-abilities-removed-from-halo-5/ http://teambeyond.net/halo-5-guardians-wont-armor-abilities/ Why do I personally think they could complement Halo gameplay? First and foremost, everyone has access to the same set of abilities, so there's no guessing what the other play has at their disposal. This means that unlike with AAs, SAs will allow players to predict (without guess-work) what the other player might do during any given encounter. It also means that players wont have functional advantages over each other. But it's important to mention that a feature isn't automatically good just because everyone has access to it at all times. I think there is more to consider when it comes to whether or not each individual SA will work. If I could put into one sentence my philosophy on how they should fit into the game, it would go something like this: Spartan Abilities should give players different options - options which require a decent amount of skill to utilize - for approaching encounters, without taking anything away from the validity of the skills that would otherwise have been appropriate in approaching those encounters. But what would be an ability that wouldn't fit into this description? Let's take armour lock and pretend that everyone had it at all times, and let's ignore for a moment that it was armour related for the sake of this point. Armour lock was used in order to save a person's life in a situation where they otherwise would have had to fight their way out of the same situation had Armour Lock not been an option. It happens at the simple push of a button, yet the benefits to the player greatly outweigh those of simply fighting without armour lock. Imagine a typical situation where Armour Lock would be used - a player is losing an encounter. And let's look at the typical impact that armour lock, and a lack of amour lock will have on that situation: Armour Lock Player input - pushing and holding a button. Very little thought or timing necessary in gaining the benefits. Outcome - greatly improved chance of survival (at least for the time that you're pushing and holding the button). No Armour Lock Player input - having to use skills such as out-shooting and out-strafing the enemy. Requires a decent amount of timing and thought in order to make effective use of those skills. Outcome - greatly reduced chance of survival So Armour Lock not only required very little in the form of human input, but it also negated and drastically reduced the necessity for other skills which were already valid in its absence. So how about an ability which does actually fit into that philosophy? Well, a good example of that would be vehicle boarding. Vehicle boarding gives players an option for taking over vehicles which are currently in use by the enemy team, but without having to destroy the vehicle, and without having to rely on power weapons or grenades. Why is it not a bad option in the same way that Armour Lock is? Because: 1) Typically, it requires a decent amount of skill, timing and thought to pull off. So it doesn't present itself as an obvious choice over the skills which were previously necessary in taking on an enemy vehicle (killing the player). 2) It isn't always an option, and most of the time, the previous skills are still more appropriate in taking on enemy vehicles than vehicle boarding itself. Vehicle boarding is only valid when you get close enough to actually use the ability in the first place, which in itself is an effort to achieve, unless the enemy player makes a mistake of their own. So the other skills, such as destroying the vehicle itself or killing the people inside it, are still very much appropriate and valid. So to put it simply, the extra option isn't something which negates the need for skill in order to take on the vehicle, it simply adds another option which still requires timing, thought and a decent amount of skill from the player to use effectively. How does this apply to Spartan Abilities? I think that they should all be more aligned with the kind of things vehicle boarding brought to Halo gameplay, and less aligned with what armour lock brought to gameplay. My current theory on the ground-punch Spartan Ability One of the abilities which the Halo 5 beta trailer seemed to show off was the yet-to-be-officially-named 'ground pucnh' abilitiy. It shows a spartan using the thruster pack to thrust down and punch the ground. The resulting effect in the trailer is that the enemy spartans get blown away from the impact (and possibly killed?), even though the ground-punch-spartan didn't actually come into direct contact with them. I think the ground punch might do damage based on the height you fall from when using it. For example, falling from a mere jumping height will do very little damage (if any), while falling from a large height (say from the top of Construct to the bottom) will do more damage, and perhaps have a higher damage radius, due to the fall itself taking longer. If this theory is true, then it would seem to be a self-regulating feature in that players who try to spam the ability, by simply jumping and using it over and over again, will get very little benefit from it because they wont be using it from a decent height. And the result will be that they're putting themselves at risk more than they're helping themselves. If players use it from a height, the increased damage would be the reward for having to time the jump/fall more accurately to get results. Also, as pointed out by Gobias no Teambeyond, it would reward the controlling of higher ground, but you would have to sacrifice that advantage in order to risk the opportunity to deal more damage. Some questions: What would your own philosophy be on how the Spartan Abilities should fit into Halo gameplay? Do you have any theories on what some of the yet-to-be-shown SAs might be? What do you think about how the 'ground-punch' SA should/could work?

It has been announced that the new abilities as said in the halo 5 beta trailer are not armor abilities as they are not in halo 5. So what could they be? My guess is it is a specialization based ability, but I could also see it being based off of a piece of armor, like maybe a back plate or something.

First and foremost the Microsoft E3 Press Conference was fantastic! Full of surprises (Ahem, the Conker Character in Project Spark, and Crackdown 3), and I have to say it was very enjoyable for something I'm not usually into watching. Now onto Halo. Halo 5: Guardians Beta On Halo Waypoint, it states that the Halo 5: Guardians Beta is scheduled to run from December 27, 2014 - January 22, 2015. Requirements: - You must be 17 or older to participate. - The Beta requires the Halo: The Master Chief Collection game disc to play. - Xbox One, internet and Xbox Live Gold membership required (obviously). I'm not sure how you actually get into the Beta firsthand. On the Page it states that participating in the beta unlocks content in both the Master Chief Collection, and Halo: Nightfall, and that the "Exclusive Items" will carry over into the Halo 5: Guardians game. Halo 5: Guardians releases sometime in late 2015 (the release date has not been announced, as stated on Waypoint). Halo: Nightfall Halo: Nightfall is a 5 Episode Live Action Series with episodes releasing on a weekly basis. The story as quoted from Waypoint: "A strange and treacherous world exposes elite UNSC operatives to a much deeper danger in this live action series from 343 Industries and Scott Free Productions. Executive-produced by Ridley Scott, Scott Free TV President David Zucker, and directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan ("Battlestar Galactica," "Pillars of the Earth," "Heroes"), Halo: Nightfall is an exciting new story for Halo fans and fresh audiences alike." During E3 I remember the lady from 343i stating that the show will have the Character from the Halo 2: Anniversary/Master Chief Collection Trailer, and the Halo 5: Guardians teaser art. Though I don't know if that's true, so don't take my word for it. On Waypoint it says that it'll be on Xbox One, and Windows 8.1 (at least it says they're required), but I'm sure the episodes will also be viewable on most Online Video sites, like Youtube. As of now I don't think the launch date has been announced, but please tell me if it has. *Pertaining to both the Beta, and Halo: Nightfall, Waypoint states that the dates, content, and features are subject to change.* SOURCE: HaloWaypoint.com - Thoughts? A few weeks ago I was listening to podtacular and during one of the twitch discussions I suggested that maybe there will be a second playable Character which has the mission of hunting down Master Chief, I saved the image in case I was right, and based on the recent news my theory seems a lot more likely. I could still be wrong what does everyone else think. P.S. I am njwest
