The Halo 4/5 art styles are really just different species (or "ethnicities") of alien races being depicted. This is made clear in the Kilo-five trilogy, the appearance of most Elites, Jackals, and Grunts is canon. Some are clearly not, such as the Arbiter's, and this is due to resource limits. The reason both species aren't shows is because of time constraints, and resources. The ultimate solution is to have all species shown, and this may well be possible for Halo 6. If 343 can show all species, or at least the ones that should be there by canon, Halo 6 will be almost perfect already. Of course there are many things that can be improved/developed, but the appearances in-game and in cutscenes are too important to be sacrificed. Halo's most important aspect, in many people's opinions, is its lore. 343 have done an outstanding job with Halo Wars 2. They show both the original species from "Bungie's" Halos, and the "343" species. This is what all future Halo titles need. It makes sense, and breaks no canon or lore. Why would there only be all of one species in a specific military? There would be a mix, like we see in Halo Wars 2. For the Covenant, the only "mix" we see is with grunts, and that's perfectly fine. It could make sense that all of Let Volir's crew was full of were the Halo CE/2/3/Reach species shown. We can safely assume that there were some Halo 4/5 species during the older games as well, just not depicted. The Arbiter, Thel Vadam, certainly needs his real appearance back in all future titles, but all the rest (not previously confirmed Elites) can be mixed. The Kig-Yar have 3 different species confirmed, with names. The Sangheili don't need different species names, they're not that different and wouldn't distinguish each other in that way. They Unggoy, I can't say, would love to see some more differentiation between the Halo 4/5 ones and those prior though. The reason we may see 343 succeed in this area with Halo 6 is because of the time spent on Halo 6's development; clearly a lot longer. It will most likely drop in 2019 or 2020, and will be a huge success in the eyes of it's followers if 343 mix these styles together. They could be working on it right now as you read this. It will revive the dead horse everyone keeps kicking, and grow it from a colt to a stallion. This will be even better than before, because we see things how they really are, with all species (or the ones which are meant to be there canonically) involved. If 343 don't do this, it would be very disappointing, and more hope would be lost. I'm confident they know what to do now, and have known for the past 2 years. Halo Wars 2 has reassured me, and I hope to see both styles in future titles. Bringing back the old and getting rid of the new is not the way to do it. That will only make it worse, it won't make much sense, and completely get rid of newly introduced species (which have canonically been there from the start). We need both, and I put my faith in 343 to not fail us.

It would be tremendously helpful and will probably be added in an update. Hope you all enjoy this map as much as I did! Map History When a friend of mine came to me and said “I have a cool idea for a halo wars game”, I was instantly down for it. This was originally going to be a Halo Wars 2 minigame (may be made in the later updates known as Blitz). I started making a large terrain set that could be big enough to simulate a Halo Wars match (which is very large). As we got into working out the game aspects, we soon realized that a game like this probably wouldn’t work well and would be a little too ambitious, so we decided to scrap the idea. By then I had already built a large amount of the map and didn’t want to see it wasted. I said I would try to make something else out of it on my own, and that I did. I didn’t want this to be just another Big Team map so I thought of a few gamemodes to make specifically for this map. Halo 4 was my first Halo game I played, so I decided to bring back Heavies and Extraction. I made the current map smaller, which gave me more budget room to add aesthetics and features. The map was very budget tight, but when it was done, it looked fantastic. I set up the other gamemodes, as well as made 2 weapon and vehicle sets (one for flag and ball gametypes, one for heavy gametypes), but making Extraction was a challenge. I first only made 3 extract sites and had 2 active at a time. I knew I would have tons of bugs and problems, so I started playtesting. I hosted 1 or 2 playtesting sessions a week. I had tons of scripting bugs to fix, as well as some map issues like not enough cover, spawn killing, map layout, and other things like that. I found Extraction to get rather stale, so I decided to make it more like the original, having 5 sites rather than 3 and making them change from 2 to 1 being active at a time. After I fixed that, I released the map, which is what your reading now. Gameplay Design Each team has a base they first spawn in which looks like the base in blitz (in heavies, the base has a shield that keeps the other team from passing through). In each of these home bases is a warthog, rockethog, gungoose, and mantis (in heavies, the gungoose is replaced with a scorpion and a wasp). The map is made around 3 hills (which are supposed to represent the 3 control points in blitz games). Each team has a hill close to the spawn base, and one hill to the side of the map in the middle. This center hill is important for teams to control, as it has a large height advantage to overlook the rest of the map. Around these hills are remnants of a crashed UNSC Heavy Frigate, which creates new smaller areas for players to engage in. There are many weapons throughout the map, and power weapons consist of a railgun, binary rifle, and spnkr rocket launcher. In heavies, there are Spartan lasers, incineration cannons, hunter arms, and spnkr Ems. For gameplay, I wanted the player to feel like how a Spartan II should in Halo Wars and I wanted the map to be a big battlefield that makes the player feel small, but still significant. When I first made the map, It was very big, even a little too big for what I later intended. So I shrunk the map, added more cover, and more wreckage for the player to interact with. Players can’t run around from corner to corner of the map quickly which makes it more important for you to strategies where you want to go and how you want to engage before you run into battle. This works very well when working as a team, deciding together when to make pushes for power positions, defending tactics, and flanking routes, making it feel similar to a Halo Wars match. The vehicles on the map are very important to control as well, as some of them can turn the tide of battle. The vehicles are balanced with a rock terrain system on the ground. Spartans have no trouble climbing over the rock, small vehicles like warthogs can go through it if they have a skilled driver, and large vehicles like scorpions have a tough time going over and sometimes have to find another path. This keeps vehicles from being too overpowered on the map, which they would be on battlefields like this otherwise Aesthetic Design For the aesthetic design of the map, obviously I wanted a good Halo Wars 2 theme since the game was about to come out when I started the map. I wanted to make a nice natural looking environment full of rock, trees, and I made that to start. Then I “crash landed” the Heavy Frigate ship prefab onto the map and warped the terrain accordingly, which included making sinkholes in the ground where ship parts sit, knocking down trees, and lighting things on fire. Then I included some Banished aesthetics, like a banished locus and banished banshees created by Oni777777 (might have miscounted the sevens). I set the banished banshees on joint barrels to make them fly in a circle around they sky, but this caused a lot of framerate drops and performance issues, so they had to be removed. I also considered leaving them static in the sky, but figured it would break the immersion in the map, which was top of my priority list. I also made halo wars 2 blitz bases and hills on the map, using the hills as stronghold points in the strongholds gamemode. The map is set in the barrens map and uses the barrens rock with the alpine terrain, which I thought looks most like Halo Wars 2. The skybox is a crimson colour which fits with the battlefield style of the map. I also added a light smoky fog to the map which is thick enough to make seeing at a long distance a little harder but thin enough to see through well in most areas. Unique Map Features Random Weapon Generator On each hill is a random weapon generator plate. The plate spawns 2 weapons from a pool of 8 possibilities every 20 seconds. The weapons despawn every 20 seconds if untouched, so there will never be more than 2 weapons to choose from at a time. On hills Alpha and Charley (red and blue sides), the weapon pool consists of 8 DMRs each with a different attachment or scope. On hill Bravo, the pool is made of SMGs. Weapon/Vehicle sets The main gamemode for this map will of course be heavies, but I wanted a second weapon and vehicle set for other gamemodes. I found that the heavies weapon and vehicle set was a little too much for flag and ball gamemodes, as it made players less focused on the objectives and more on killing enemies. This is done by making 2 vehicles phased into each other and set the labels to different gamemodes. Then they are scripted to on match start: set physics normal. These special features along with other map features will be available to download as a prefab after release in a later update

Information surrounding the Halo Wars 2 Beta was leaked accidentally in the Xbox Store today: supposedly ahead of it's planned reveal at Microsoft's E3 conference on June 13th. Said leak apparently was a result of Xbox Director of Programming Larry Hyrb aka 'Major Nelson' following said page. Based on what was shown, the Beta will run from June 13th to June 20th. The full list of info gleaned is below: "Be among the first to experience the explosive return of real-time strategy to the Halo universe in the Halo Wars 2 Multiplayer Beta for Xbox One", the opening paragraph reads. Will run from June 13th, 2016 - the day of the Microsoft Press Conference, but not confirmed at what time - to June 20th, 2016 specifically for Xbox One. Windows 10 was not mentioned. Requires an Xbox Live Gold Membership to participate. The Beta will be 13GBs in size. Number of players capable of playing the Beta on one console is restricted to just 1 while it's up to 6 online. The Beta is 100% open, and can be accessed by anyone on it's launch date. As an indirect response to the leak the official Halo Youtube channel has begun uploading intriguing yet haunting '101s' regarding the events of the first Halo Wars. What this means not only for the sequel but for the original is yet to be determined. The canonically-first episode of the series can be seen . Halo Wars 2 is a real-time strategy game slated for release sometime in late 2016 for both Xbox One and Windows 10 - developed in partnership between SEGA's Creative Assembly of Total War fame and 343 Industries. The game will be shown at the Microsoft E3 conference starting at 9:30 AM PT on June 13th. Thanks for reading! Sources: Eurogamer Kotaku Reddit

HALO WARS 2 HALO WARS 2 HALO WARS 2 HALO WARS 2 HALO WARS 2 HALO WARS 2. At Xbox's 2015 Gamescom conference, Halo Wars 2 was announced in a bombshell surprise teaser at the end of the presentation. The trailer shows the return of Red Team and what seems to be a prequel setting during the Human-Covenant War. This could also tie in to the recent appearance of the Spirit of Fire in Escalation and Hunters in the Dark. A large Brute chieftan also makes an appearance suggesting the return of the Brute tribes. We get brief glimpses of Red Team fighting an unknown entity that looks to be very Arbiter in appearance, but we just don't know. The game will arrive Autumn of 2016 on Xbox One and Windows 10, being developed by 343 Industries and Creative Assembly. The trailer can be found on if you wish to watch it. Hello everyone, I was playing halo wars today and had a idea and wanted to share it, Would you play Halo wars 2 if it was a RTS and FPS game ? You could switch from viewer to soldier. Just something i thought of.
-
I think 343 should include a RTS/FPS hybrid game mode. When I play Halo wars I always look at my three Spartans in the field and think "Wow, I really wish I could choose to play that character in first person." Imagine playing Halo wars and having a team of six spartans on the field which are all human players and when you select them and give them a command, it appears as a waypoint or an objective marker on their screen, giving them the distance to their objective and the details of the objective JUST LIKE IN A CAMPAIGN MISSION! If done properly, this game mode would seem like an entire unique campaign each match. I think the best way to do this would be to treat the firebase as a vehicle that the commander can operate from within or exit and fight as a spartan in first-person view; this allows even the person commanding armies to still have their personalized character in the match. If you want to get carried away allow players to be the captains of ships and make the map the size of whole galaxy with landmarks such as planets Earth, Harvest, Reach as well as High charity and all of the locations visited in all of the Halo Games prior.

If Halo 5 is not going to be the next title for 2014, would you rather want Halo 2 anniversary or Halo Wars 2 as the replacement? For me, it is strongly Halo Wars 2. I think Halo 2 Anniversary is a dumb idea because then 343 would always be working on two games at once: Halo 2 Anniversary with Halo 5, Halo 3 anniversary with Halo 6, etc. You see, it's dopey. If they do make a Halo 2 Anniversary, then they would have to make a Halo 3 Anniversary, and an ODST Anniversary, and then a Reach Anniversary, and so on. I think it'd be better if 343 stuck with Halo 1 Anniversary. That's it. Any more completely over does it.
-
I seriously think Halo Wars 2 needs to be the next Halo title because let's face it... Halo 5 is a make or break game. If Halo 5 fails, no one will buy Halo 6, and Halo will die. So if 343 hooks up with Ensemble Studios for Halo Wars 2, fans will love it, and it will allow more time to fine tune H5. What I think H5 needs is the best graphics anyone has ever seen, and some fresh new elements while sticking close to the old halo feel... idk. I seriously doubt Halo 2 anniversary will come out because it's stupid. The purpose of the 1st Halo anniversary was to celebrate the release of Halo. That's it. If they continue on to Halo anniversary 2... then there'd be Halo anniversary 3, ODST, Wars, Reach, 4, while coming out with H5, H6. It's stupid. Lastly, I have small evidence as to why a Halo Wars 2 may be the next Halo title. Megablocks has a new UNSC toy that's related to the Locusts in Halo wars. Why would they make that? Watch it here:

I think the perfect sequel is a real-time strategy first-person shooter hybrid game, using the Halo Wars mechanics for the commander and the classic first-person shooter and vehicle mechanics of the other halo games, in which the commander would build bases and armies and command those armies, exactly like Halo Wars, while a team of players allied to the commander function as special operations units on the ground, existing independently from the commander. When matchmaking, there are two main categories to choose from, though others may web off this initial choice, being Commander or Player; this will ensure that when a game commences, everybody will be playing the role they wish to play and that these roles will be consistent throughout the whole game, which solves the many problems of changing positions as player and commander and prevents the ineffectiveness of inconsistently playing either role. A side note on the matchmaking process: perhaps flood and Promethean Races should be added to the Leader choice options, though I fear this may sacrifice the games simplicity. Though any unit should be able to be played in First-person, for understanding and imagery purposes, assume that all players are Spartans. Plus, “players” will refer to the people playing fist person characters while “commanders” will refer to the base and army building position, even though it would also be played by a real, human, player. A player has an economy system exactly like that of the commander in Halo Wars, one resource that increases in income rate as resources area acquires, except that the players will not have the authority to build supply pads. Instead, the commander can dedicate supply pads to supplying all or some of his allied players or simply give his players a lump sum of resources, like the “give supplies to friendly” ability in Halo Wars that the commander has when one of his supply pads is activated. With this system alone, the players would be very dependent on the commander, which would rob players of the potential to have significant impact on their teams performance if the commander is not performing well, so the players should have other means to acquire resources. Other means for players to acquire resources should be gathering resource crates and utilizing map relics that provide resources, both of which are seen in Halo Wars. Finally the last and most prevalent means for players to acquire resources would be the combat reward system, a system that rewards players with resources for all combat oriented accomplishments, such as enemy kills, vehicles captured, bases captured or destroyed etc, which functions almost exactly like the point reward system of Halo 4, to which the players are able to receive ordinance; in this case, the ordinance would be delivered or fire-dropped in from the Spirit of Fire, the UNSC ship responsible for delivering airstrikes for the humans in Halo Wars, and may include ordinance of any weapon or unit which may then be under the player's command, be it giving orders like a Ghost Recon game or commandeering a vehicle, like the other Halo games. I think the players, with the sufficient resources of course should be able to call in, at least, basic airstrikes, similar to the human leader powers of Halo wars, which would not activate the cool down for the commander; the player should also be able to upgrade his airstrike capabilities using his own resources as well. Lastly, just like the commander is able to give resources to the players, the players should also be able to give resources to the commander. Every time a player dies he will need to summoned by the Spirit of Fire or one of the commanders buildings. The player, if wishing to respawn as a spartan, will need to pay the resource cost of a spartan from his own resources to be deployed again. If the player has sufficient resources, before being deployed, the player may equip him or her self with desired weapons, equipment, armor and vehicles. The deployment process would be fire-dropped as an infantry unit from the Spirit of Fire, pelican-dropped from the spirit of Fire in a vehicle, or simply deployed from an allied commanders base if they have the sufficient buildings. Stepping outside the imagery of the human faction, players of the covenant faction should be able to play and upgrade covenant leaders and their leader powers as seen in Halo Wars. The scarab should also be able to be utilized but the player will not be controlling the scarab directly. Instead, he would be controlling an infantry unit that is driving the scarab, which allows for enemies to commandeer the scarab or dispose of the scarab by infiltration and self-destruction, rather than destroying it wit overwhelming firepower, like in Halo Wars. Overall, what I want in a game is the perfect balance of simplicity, to allow for easy operation, and complexity, to allow for varied strategy, which Halo Wars and the classic Halo games have mastered; so, to bring these two games together would be truly and literally fantastic. To all the readers, please give feedback and criticism to both the idea and concepts and my writing skills so I can refine them and, if Possible, keep your reply messages concise for my reading convenience but certainly not at the cost of quality contribution. Hopefully, if this is refined and becomes renowned enough, it will become something that a game studio, be it 343 industries, Ensemble Studios, Bungie etc., will find worthy and interesting enough to create. Call me crazy but it may just work. Thank You, very much.

With Sony supposely going to unveil the PS4 today what can and when can we expect to see the next Xbox or the 720 as people like to call it. well we could guess that we would see something at E3 which will most likely be the case. With the next xbox rumered to have an 8 Core AMD CPU and AMD GPU can we expect to see backwards compaibilty with 360 games well in theroy yes the hardware has not change articture although the next xbox will be based off the Windows 8 kernal not XP like the 360 so there could be issues. The PS4 will not have backwards compatibilty the PS3 uses an INTEL CELL CPU and the pS4 will use an AMD so no there will be no backwards compailbilty although streaming of PS3 games is rumored to be possible. GAMES Your probably wondering at this point why is this a HALO Wars post well i personally think that HAlo Wars 2 will be a launch title on the next Xbox Micosoft will need to have good launch titles in order for people to buy the console it did a simlar thing back when the 360 launched with Halo 3 so my point of this post is what does everybody think of the thought of a new console Will you buy one? What games would you like to see launch? Would you like to see the HALO Wars 2 on the next xbox? What would be the right price and what would you be willing to pay? What changes would you like to see on the 720 including Xbox Live?

This is mainly a response to the topic: CHEERS! there gonna be a halo wars 2! But anyway, like I was saying... I found some references on Halo Wars 2, and discussing how it could be experimented with the Kinect. Xbox News: Halo Wars 2 - Link Here It basically talks about a new extention to Halo Wars and it's capabillity with the Kinect. This is another reference I found on GameInformer talking about the Future of Halo Wars: Link Here

WARNING: MICROWAVING YOUR DISC IS DANGEROUS AND WILL WRECK YOUR MICROWAVE. PLEASE DON'T ACTUALLY TRY IT. Anyway, I personally thought it was okay, but I don't want a sequel. It could have been a WAY better game. Give technological advancement another few years, then maybe try it again with a better engine and sensible damage tables. I do still play it, at least, but not very often.

Hey 343, I know that no one probably cares but I really think 343 should make a halo wars 2. Halo wars 1 was the most succssful console strategy game and is one of my favorites all time. I still play it often with the other about 9 thousand that are online.. I have heard talk about 343 thinking about kinect for halo wars 2 and I just wanna say don't do it. The game is great with the remote it just needs to be refined somewhat. Kinect would not sell well and it would flop if you were to add new feature and make the original system more appealing I could see it selling well. Some ideas for the game as a long time player 1. More leaders and options (no more then 4 more or else it would be overwhelming) 2. More maps and fix the stupid same map in matchmaking like 10 times in a row 3. Maybe a ranking system where you unlock items (make it more competative) These are just a few suggestions I'm sure you have heard others. Just atleast consider it I know I would buy the game along with many others.
