  1. Some details have been revealed about a console Valve is creating codenamed "Piston", not much has been revealed about Valve's latest project just yet but early spec and details have been revealed at CES yesterday. Read below for more info. Article and Images from Polygon. Xi3 brought an early version of Piston to CES, but was tight lipped on details about the hardware currently in development with Valve. Xi3 chief marketing officer David Politis told Polygon that Piston will offer up to 1 TB of interal storage and offer modular component updates, including the option to upgrade the PC's CPU and RAM. Xi3 wouldn't discuss price for Piston, but commented that the Steam Box is based on its "performance level" X7A offering, which is priced at $999. Xi3 declined to comment on what would differentiate Piston hardware-wise from a standard X7A. Xi3 also offers the entry level X5A, which is priced at $499 with a Linux operating system. The demo unit of Piston featured an IO board boasting one ethernet port, 1/8" audio in/out, SPDIF optical audio, four USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports (with one dedicated to keyboard input), four eSATAp ports, two Mini Display Port ports and one DisplayPort/HDMI port.
  2. After Mayh3m's tv post, I wanted to have a little competition for who has the best gaming rig. Post away! Cooler Master mid tower HAF-922 case with all fan mods Mobo: GA-EX58 UD7 Bloomfield Gaming custom edition Processor: Quad core i7 920 OC'd to 4.35 Ghz Memory: 16gb Triple Channel G.Skills Ripjaws Z OC'd to 2000 Mhz GPU: Gigabyte Windforce III AMD Radeon 7970 (3gb RAM) OC'd to 1150/5760 Storage: 256gb Corsair Neutron SSD + Dual 500gb 7200rpm HDD Rocking a 7.9 Windows experience index...I've only spent 1k on this PC and I bet no one can top it! Running Crysis 3 at all Ultra settings with 16xAA at 45 FPS average (low of 31 and high of 83). I have yet to try BioShock Infinite on it.
  3. Not sure if ALL of you know, but I myself is building a computer. Question is, what are you building? If you don't want to share it's ok, but really what are YOU building? All I can tell you is that mine is an AMD based build and it will be very powerful for a $600 computer. So have fun doing this, and maybe post a picture of it. Mine will be done very soon! Also, the reason I'm not showing you because it is a very special computer to me. I WILL show you NOW! Lol Thanks, Equinoxe Gaming Computer: In Progress Case: Fractal Define Mini (Bought) Motherboard: Gigabyte 78LMT-SP2 (Bought) CPU: Phenom II x4 965 (3.4GHz) (Not Bought) RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb (Not Bought) GPU: Radeon HD 6870 or 6850 (Not Bought) PSU: Kentec 875w (Bought) There you have it, total about $545. 4. Quite a few specs report have surfaced over the past month or so and each one has been fairly similar but each have a few minor differences from others. So for those who have been keep themselves up to date with next gen news then you probably have a good idea of what to expect from the next Xbox. So here we have another specs reports but this time its is a detailed diagram of the hardware of the next Xbox. This diagram and report is from vgleaks. CPU: - x64 Architecture - 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz (GHz) - each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache - each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache - each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources - each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock GPU: - custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor - 12 shader cores providing a total of 768 threads - each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle - at peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second High-fidelity Natural User Interface (NUI) sensor is always present Storage and Memory: - 8 gigabyte (GB) of RAM DDR3 (68 GB/s) - 32 MB of fast embedded SRAM (ESRAM) (102 GB/s) - from the GPU’s perspective the bandwidths of system memory and ESRAM are parallel providing combined peak bandwidth of 170 GB/sec. - Hard drive is always present - 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Disc drive Networking: - Gigabit Ethernet - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct Hardware Accelerators: - Move engines - Image, video, and audio codecs - Kinect multichannel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware - Cryptography engines for encryption and decryption, and hashing
