  1. Head of Xbox and Microsoft Studios, Phil Spencer, announced that the Xbox One UI will be getting customizable themes such as background screenshots and pictures. Phil Spencer sat down with TiC Podcast to discuss all things Xbox, he announced that the Xbox team are working on new ways for users to customize their Xbox One's dashboard. Such things will include the ability to take pictures and in-game screenshots to set as the background for the dashboard. “I was told themes and background pics are something that we are working on and screenshots, you know people beat me up on screenshots,” Spencer stated. These features are still currently in development so there isn't a confirmed date when they will be released, all that can be said at this time is they will come with a future monthly update. He went on to say "I think both themes, backgrounds and screenshots are things I know people want so we are going to deliver on them. But we can’t give a when yet.” The Xbox UI will be more customizable than ever when these updates roll out in the future, and no doubt having the ability to create personalized images and in-game screenshots will pique the interest of many Xbox users. Be sure to check out the full podcast What do you think of these new features? Are you happy to hear in-game screenshots and images can be used to customize your own dashboards? 2. A few hidden games has appeared on the xbox dashboard, this brief article from polygon with go through them and try to see what these could be. Title speaks for itself, of course you have the big image Quantum Break, and Forza 5. I wouldn't look too far into Halo, it's just a logo and we'll inevitably get one.... But the other images 1. Bottom left green Crackdown agility orb, I don't know why they would use that unless we're getting a sequel (a real one this time). 2. Bottom right has the Rare logo, if its an HD realization of a old franchise I wouldn't know what it is. 3. Middle right is almost certainly Ryse (roman buildings) 4. Top right, most intriguing to me, kind of gives me Fable vibe (Seer eyes) I wouldn't look too far into the image between Forza and Halo, kind of looks like the Demo stuff 18 seconds in there. (I guess it could still be from a game?) *-Update:* As Tom Warren points out the one betwean Forza and Halo is likely the the family kids game set on an island he reported on. http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/11/4212054/next-xbox-launch-titles-ryse-forza

  4. " Xbox 360's dashboard update is rolling out today (October 16). The latest version of the console's firmware is downloadable today for some users, and will be gradually made available for everyone over the next few weeks. "Our initial deployment will reach approximately three million consoles worldwide, with additional users being updated over the course of a couple of weeks," said director of programming Larry Hryb. "Don't panic if you don't see an immediate update, just keep checking back in." The update refreshes the 'Metro' branded interface with a tweaked layout of tiles, combines the TV and Movies channels, and in the US, introduces a sports channel. Internet Explorer will be added for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, allowing users to browse the web with a controller or Kinect. Searching is now expanded to genre, while voice search now includes YouTube, and is available to new countries including Ireland, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Italy, Spain and Austria. Favourite content can be pinned to the dashboard, allowing fast access to games, TV shows, music, videos and websites. Similarly, Quick Play will be rebranded as Recent, providing a list of games, movies and apps last used on the console. Zune Video Marketplace is to be rebranded as Xbox Video, offering hundreds of thousands of TV shows and movies available for purchase or renting. The recently announced Xbox Music will also be made available today. The update introduces Xbox SmartGlass, which will be made available when Windows 8 launches on October 26. " Source: Digital Spy
