Hi everyone, Spartan here with Site Poll 98. Last week's poll had us asking ourselves which Alpha-Nine member we liked most. This included all past and present members of the fireteam. There was a lot of competition, but Spartan Buck ultimately came out on top. Interesting to see who people voted for and why. Click here to view Site Poll 97, and here for the Twitter responses. What's your favourite Halo novel/comic? This was one of the first poll ideas I originally thought of, but wasn't going to do this one because I thought most people wouldn't have read any novels or comics pertaining to Halo. Looks like many people are well-educated with the lore and have read a lot material, especially with those on Twitter, so I've had a change of heart. The external media is what really defines Halo. The way I see it, the games are only a small add-on. Regardless of how good they all are, I'm sure there are some pieces that are more favoured than others when it comes down to person choice. Which novel, graphic novel or comic did you like most and why? There are many to choose from, and I can imagine it'll be a tough choice for those of you who have read a lot, so if you want you may list one novel and one comic/graphic novel. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Spartan out.

Let's say someone has tried novelizing it, or animated it, or made a comic, what are some other ways a story can be formatted?

'Lo people. For the last year and a half I've been writing a Halo® novel entitled Halo® The Wanderer, which chronicles the life of a young Spartan 1.1 as he is trained into a stone-cold killer by the Office of Naval Intelligence and eventually joins every Spartan Program (except S-II – although he does attain S-II augmentations – and S-I/Orion Project of course). Essentially, it's like a biography but more in-depth and not always told from his perspective. I currently have nineteen chapters and 108 pages, and am midway through Part One of the story. Anyway, I'm trying to get in contact in some form or fashion with 343 – telephone, email, anything – becasue I would like to send them a manuscript of what I have so far for proofreading. If you guys can help me, I would value it greatly. Warm Regards, IceFireWarden

Greetings, forum. Recently, 343 Industries announced their first digital novel, Halo: New Blood. This will feature ODST Edward Buck, also known as 'Bucky'. He's only been seen in Halo 3: ODST, but this novel will show us how he gets on after the Human-Covenant War. With the Chief being listed as MIA and several other Spartans being killed in battle, the new Spartan-IV program is introduced. After the UNSC recognising Buck's heroic efforts in the Human-Covenant War, they leave him with two options. He can either retire to a luxurious life, or take up a promotion and become a Spartan-IV. Buck has to make a life-changing decision. Will he retire and live the nice, peaceful life any veteran soldier would love? Or, will he join the new Spartan program and continue to fight whatever force opposes mankind? Cover art for Halo: New Blood Halo: New Blood will be released on 2 March, 2015. It will be written through Buck's perspective. What do you think about this? Are you happy to see old Bucky make a return? Thanks for reading. - Spartan Source: http://halo4nation.com/other/halo-blood-announced-buck-odsts/

This is something I've been doing for a while, I am a great story teller, I have a great imagination. This is the concept of my book, I am still working out the plot, it has suffered many bad feedback, but hopefully you'll like it. The beganning... Introduction: The mid 21st century has experienced a goldmine of breakthroughs of science, medicine, and construction of a better world. Thanks to hard work, and partly thanks a new type of energy called gyurra, a type of energy formed out of a rock mineral found in saphires. 100X more effecient then electricity, and 30X more powerful then solar energy. One of the best discovries of the centry. But it was during that time the Bioengineering and engineering company began extreme experiments, "Kokurai", their extraordinary achievements, and profound mystery gave them fame. During the late 21st century, they attempted to create the first weapon, using a artificial warmhole. They had many casualties, and failiures....After 30 tries, in the summer of 2090, the firing test began. Many test were successful, the oppertunity to travel in seconds and transport objects in seconds was born, weapons of mass destruction could be launched, this revolu-- like many power, it was underestimated. The power of gyurra overpowered the machine, thus the uncontrolable warmhole formed. Tearing the world apart, streaching and tearing space and time apart, killing thousands. But something remarkable happened, instead of being sucked up, the continents formed, sea levels rose. A super land mass was born. A new world. A new world made up of time's leftovers. A world lost in time. A new world. The rise of Pangeia had begun....

Hi, this is my tribute to Michael Crichton, this is what I think JW should be like. I hope you like, I posted this before but I fixed mistakes. ~Enjoy. Prologue Isla Sorna lab, 2:00 PM. Isla Sorna's roaring waves hit its rocky cliff perimeter, making watery, misty explosions. The afternoon light was not really in sight during the cloudy day. From a bird's eye view, the island's beautiful look still held up. Lush open wet grasslands were seen, lots of thick wet jungle, rivers, and the faint light from the cloud covered sun made the day prettier. The big island's lush ecosystem made up for the kind of gloomy day. The afternoon sounds of the loco birds made the island more inviting. The big rusty, old building in the large grassland of the Northeastern part of the island still held up, even after InGen left, things seemed quiet there at the lab fortress.... When Dr. Wingfield joined Biosyn (A geneticists company that steals ideas from rival companies) to help research GX4 3 weeks ago, things had gone wrong… Velociraptors surrounded the old abandoned rusty, darkened laboratory, breaking through windows, shredding 6 of Wingfield's dead team with their foot claws. Biting the rest of the protection bars of the door that protected him and his last remaining teammates. They banged on the door, snarling and screeching. The lab's many holes let faint daylight in. The lab was old; cracks on the walls were seen a lot. But the lab was still intact somehow... "They're breaking through!" said Ronold as he was blocking the door. As the scaly, gray raptor hand found its way through the door next to Ronold, it tried to scratch him. He backed away quickly after each attempt, faint metal screeching rang on his ears as they clawed the wall next to the door, making long scratch marks. Carla Park was at the bottom of the door, blocking it with a metal stick. Wingfield saw that the raptors would have to try harder to overcome the muscular, short haired woman of 25. He saw that her bloody A-shirt's stains were still bright red. "What the f*** do we dooo?!" Wingfield appeared as a dark brown man, with graying hair on the sides of his head, sweat soaked the sides of his rectangular glasses. Wingfield searched the room some more, nothing so far. He saw a tall metal grey shelf with lots of little objects that looked like they could be used for surviving a blackout. His beady brown eyes zigzagged as he looked. Then, at the corner of his eye, a small smoke bomb the size of a lipstick, he grabbed it. The thing was almost completely covered with his wide thick fingers. "Open the door on three." Wingfield said. The two agents nodded. "One… Two… THREE!!!" The bomb zoomed out the door, it landed on the bloody ground, and in that instant it went off with a loud hissing sound. The team of BioSyn agents ran for the custom jungle SUV parked just outside the lab, they could see it thanks to a large portion of the end of the large hallway was gone. The lab suffered many more damages like that, a lot were worse. The car had lots of grey protection bars on the headlights and windows, except the front window. The team ran like hell, the distance to the car was about 36 meters. Running in the dark blue long sleeved shirts and pants was easy, even with the black bullet proof vest. Ronold's running intimidated most people, the sight of seeing a well-toned muscular man with big bulging biceps was kind of frightening. The sky light beamed down at the damaged hall, shining light on his face, highlighting his fuzzy cleft. The hall's ceiling was damaged, most of it was gone, and it had many holes, allowing the light from the grey cloudy sky to beam through. The mottled grey hall had about 7 doors, 4 on the left side and 3 on the right. Carla Park was falling behind, tired from losing blood from the raptor claw wound that ran from her armpit to her hand, the only thing holding the wound in place was a bloody tee. Some dry blood was on her short blond hair and tan skin. The mirrors on some parts of the wall made it kind of hard to see her rounded scared face. The light blue eyes were very noticeable however. She was about to call for help when, at the corner of her eye, a tall, green striped figure busted through the hall's walls. Dust and weak concrete gave way as the large animal came in. Carla saw its slender triangular yellow head, and basic theropod body come from the dust. In a few seconds, she found herself 16 ft. above the ground, in the jaws of a Carcharodontosaurus. She felt the shark-like teeth puncture her guts, as she puked blood. The pain felt like a bunch of hot knives going straight through her soft flesh... The large animal dropped her to the concrete floor, and saw that the human was crawling away...slowly...Grunting in pain....The animal stepped forward, and scooped her up, and jogged to the jungle, Carla's screams were heard...... "Carla!" said Ronold, as he was about to go after her. "Mooove!" Wingfield said as he yanked his arm, the yank was so strong. Ronold saw that the well-toned Latina man was a little faster than him. The car was 10 meters away now. Animals jumped down from a bridge above the men, raptors, they jumped down in front of the team, snarling at them, the team was knocked down. The team was being mauled and bitten as they tried to get up. Finally, Wingfield broke free by kicking a raptor's belly. He was by the car now, panting as he was opening the door. He closed it quickly. The speckled green and brown BMW SUV came to life as he used the key he had in his pocket, he was on his way. A B-BUMP! Sound came from behind the passenger window, it was Ronold… Torn to the bone, veins hanging out, a scratched up torso, and a broken jaw, he banged the window, begging to come in. He slurred "HEEEELLLPPP!" As his hanging torn right eye was looking at Wingfield, he smeared blood on the window as his hands rubbed it. Wingfield opened the door, and saw a group of raptors charged the car at great speed; they were about 30 ft. away. He gunned the car to the thick jungle. The raptors surrounded the car, all hissing at the poor humans, Wingfield searched the glove box for a weapon, he found nothing… Ronold, his eye wide open, was too messed up to move. The road was infested with trees, the windshield wipers got caught and stopped, and it was a blind drive…. The jungle was filled with ferns, cycads, and long green vines that smacked the car and the animals chasing it. The raptors did not seem to care; their minds were strictly focused on KILLING the humans...Their vertical white lines along their sides kind of distracted George. All the raptors nudged at the car, some even climbed on top, just when Wingfield thought the situation could not get any worse. A thick rounded body of an Apatosaurus carcass was in the road, the long neck and tail were in each side of his path. He made a sudden sharp turn to the unknown, he crashed to a large rock, and felt himself being battered around the car as it flipped over.. The crash made him and Ronold burst out the car, falling to the brown mud. They and the car were in a large open part of the jungle, sun light came in faint beams in the area. they were in a gap in the area that let a lot of sun in the middle of it, the area was circular. Trees surrounded it. Wingfield got back up and tried to get Ronold up, but in that instant the raptors busted out the trees and jumped the men. Ronold, who was to hurt to move, was in seconds torn to bits. Wingfield was still fighting, trying to dodge the foot claws, and trying to get his knife. One of animals got a lucky hit and gutted him, grabbed his neck with its jaws, and threw him 6 ft across the area till he hit a rock. Wingfield could not feel his neck, barley able to move his head to see his guts were everywhere. He was about to pass out when.. He saw a raptor, standing there, breathing at him. The red, beady bird-like eyes were so focused on him. Wingfield was too messed up to move, he was paralyzed, and broken. Wingfield watched as the raptor lifted its hind leg, ready to strike, and in a second, the foot smashed Wingfield's eye sockets.

Hello people, my name is Gabrieloup, i am a video game PC modder since 4 years, but i am a Halo fan since 2003 with the Halo PC/Mac release, currently i hold Halo 4 but i am interested on doing custom lobbies on Halo Reach, that includes Campaign, Firefight, Custom Games and rarely Matchmaking, its not a clan, but a group of people who does Campaign on Legendary 4 people coop with all "Accessible" datapads and switches with no deaths, Firefights with no deaths Legendary with 343i/Bungie settings, and MLG/Anniversary custom matches on selected forge community maps. The rules are simple, have a good connection, a good skillset, no teamkilling, no dead bodies tea bagging, and allways follow and stay close to the party leader and allso watch what he does. Ex: if you see hes trying to do stealth, you do it has well that is do not shoot unless shot back or if the leader shoots. (wish in this case, its me) We need ATLEAST 4 people on it, but i will accept larger parties, my Gamertag is Gabrieloup, you are required to have Halo Reach, no map packs required, no microphone required, just follow the rules above and you will be fine. If something goes wrong, you will have a warning, if you ignore it you will be muted and kicked, each time you come back the mute simbol will allways stay there even if you change Gamertags or anything. Gamertags and friendlists will be allways checked every once and then and if we find someone with the mute on in one of the friendlists the person who is friend of the muted will allso be kicked for conspiration. Feedback is allways acceptable make sure you dont spam. Any questions allso acceptable.

Greetings 343i and Halo community! This is my first time posting on the forums. Even though I'm a long time Halo fan, I haven't had any reason to come on here ... until today. I've got a big question for any mod or forum vet to answer. I only hope that I didn't miss a sticky someplace that provides detailed info on this - What options are open to fan-based writers who have completed large-scale projects? I'll elaborate some background. About three years ago, I started writing a short fiction piece, set in the Halo universe which adopted its themes and canon but in a post Halo 3 timeframe that I created (which does not focus on Master Chief). Originally, the project was intended to be a brief story that featured myself and some friends of mine as the main characters - as Spartans, specifically - working together as an elite team on a special mission ... I'll spare details to stick to the point. At any rate, after I started writing this "short work", I realized by page 40 something that I was really getting into it and had no shortage of ideas for where to go next. The rest, as they say, is history. Three and a half years later, I've put the finishing touches on an almost 900 page book which is split up into 4 parts, each one featuring 15 chapters. It is well written and was painstakingly assembled based off pages and pages of notes I put together whilst drafting it. I'm currently in the edit process since Halo 4's arrival did a number on a few of my storyline elements and I have a few new ideas, but the majority of the work is still consistent with Halo canon, as I originally intended. I say all of that to go full cycle back to my original question - because now that it's all done, I have absolutely no idea what to do with the book aside from posting it on some back alley sci-fi, fan-fic site where the really good stories end up getting ripped off or ignored ... and I happen to believe in the quality of my work and would go so far as to say it deserves a bit better fate than that. I've actually contacted Eric Nylund, William Dietz, and Karen Traviss to inquire what (if any) doors are open for getting a fan work published. All of them pretty much told me the same thing - that it's a no-go. I can understand the rationale because I know I'm not the only one to try my hand at writing Halo-inspired works ... but I might just be the first to do one this big. I'm not posting on here to brag on myself or make an absurd demand to have my work considered if 343i has their rules about this sort of thing. All I'd like is to get some feedback and hopefully hear from a mod or someone on this. I'm aware my post is coming out of the blue, but I haven't had any luck finding my answer elsewhere. I've been a Halo fan for 10 years and ran a clan for that long that got its start on Halo PC. I've watched a lot of good games come and go, but Halo remains my all time favorite franchise and I'm proud to be part of its community - even if I only did just register Thanks in advance for any responses or advice. Faithfully, -Falcon197

The Novel by Karen Traviss, "The Thursday War" will explain while we are still fighting the Covenant and all the events leading up to before Halo 4 takes place. Read below for more details From: http://www.littleenglishhaloblog.com/ By: FlawlessCowboy If you were looking for something Halo related to get you ready to slip back into those Spartan boots on November 6th you could do a lot worse than digging in to some of the Halo expanded universe. The Thursday War is the Karen Traviss' third foray into Halo fiction and is a direct sequel to last year's Halo: Glasslands, which detailed the events immediately after Halo 3 and Ghosts of Onyx. A long time has passed and a lot has happened while John was chilling out in the Forward Unto Dawn, so these two books are essential reading if you want to know what's going on when you jump in to Halo 4. I'm wary of saying too much as some readers may not yet have read Glasslands, but it has three main story arcs which track the aftermath of the Human-Covenant war from the perspective of both the UNSC and the Elites. You can order Halo: Glasslands from Amazon for £7.69 or $7.99 in the UShttp://www.assoc-ama...1&a=0765369451. On 2nd October The Thursday War will be releasing worldwide, this is a direct sequel to Glasslands and brings us right up to events immediately before Halo 4. It will explain why we're fighting the Covenant again as well as continuing the story arcs of the characters we meet in Glasslands. "Halo: The Thursday War picks up immediately where Halo: Glasslands left off, with forces on Earth and among the Covenant threatening a peace that is precarious at best. With a splinter group among the Sangheili pushing for war, some human colonies rebel against Earth authority; and as ONI policy continues to shift with the volatile situation in space, the discovery of a trove of Forerunner technology on Onyx provokes leaders on Earth to seek uses for it in the conflict. For the fight is far from over..." The Thursday War is available to pre-order now for release on 2nd October: If you're in the UK Paperback is £9.10while hardback is £15.68http://www.assoc-ama...=2&a=0765333635 If you're in the US Paperback is available for $10.87http://www.assoc-ama...=1&a=076532394X while hardback is $16.60http://www.assoc-ama...=1&a=0765333635
